This is probably one of the cleanest Chinese restaurants I've been to. The interior is beautifully decorated and feels more upscale than a typical Chinese restaurant. The minute you walk down the red carpet and through their front entrance, you'll be treated to distinctively premium Chinese decor, private rooms, robot servers, and light shows (only at night). We were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by Rian during our visit since we knew him from Classic Chinese Restaurant. Our server, Felicia, was extremely friendly and attentive. They have an extensive and oft evolving menu that centers around their specialty - lobster. We tried a number of their dishes, most of which are featured in my photos. I highly recommend their lobster dumplings and lobster fried rice (we were told they use rice grains from overseas that produce a chewier texture). Everything else ordered was delicious with the exception of the New Orleans Style Grilled Chicken Wings which were a bit too sweet for my liking. The food here is actually pretty good. The pak choi was well seasoned and cooked well. The black pepper lobster was also incredibly tasty. The beef dish had really good flavor and was very tender. The fried rice also had good flavor, but the texture was kind of weird? The whole experience threw me off a little bit. I walked in and was overwhelmed by all the gold. Service was friendly and efficient, but I would by lying if I said I was expecting an experience similar to other Chinese restaurants (ie Chinese servers, menus with Chinese characters,.... Chopsticks). My impression is that this is a Chinese restaurant geared towards non Chinese. They do have private rooms which is a plus! My MIL wanted to go here for her bday, and they pulled out all the stops for her. As a big party of 12, we were seated in a private room, which was nice as we had littles with us that can be contained instead of running rampant through the restaurant as they're inclined to do. There was also a large screen tv that also posed as karaoke machine (alas, Chinese music only) with a lovely huge couch for the littles to hang out on while the adults took their time with food and chatting. And the service - let me tell you, my MIL is VERY demanding of wait staff (sending dishes back if there was some stray bean sprouts in the noodles that she specifically asked to have removed - I would have just picked them out, asking for only half of her cup to be filled with ice) and our guy took every one of her demands with grace and patience. Food was delicious, had traditional Asian flavors, and there's stuff on the menu outside of the lobster for anyone that may have allergies to shellfish. For additional entertainment, they also have a light show with music in the main restaurant that's definitely a spectacle to behold, with everything in ornate golden decor and a giant golden throne in the middle for photo ops. We came to check out a new place in Foothill Ranch, where Denny's used to be. Unlike other restaurants in the area, Fantacy Lobster House is decorated in glistening gold (plated?) everywhere you turn your eyes. We were the only party when we arrived. To our surprise, several parties came in after us, filling up the place. Service was slow today as Ryan was the only server on duty and he did his very best to take care of everyone. It is currently in the soft opening period. I expect the service will get better by its grand opening in April. We ordered a lobster roll among 3 other dishes. Ryan explained to us there is only 1 roll per order, not 2 as on the menu. Lobster served are all Boston lobsters. I enjoyed what we ordered but their prices are certainly on the high end. The number of tables in the seating area is limited, but it does have 2 rooms for private parties. For anyone wants to check it out in person, my recommendation is to come for dinner as it has a laser show nightly at 6:50, 7:50, & 8:50pm. read more

Good food that you can't really get anywhere near the area. The issue here is you fight to not realize you're inside an old Denny's, and are paying 100's of dollars for 2 or 3 people at dinner. The price isn't bothersome given a great location, like on the water, or in a high end area, but this is in a commercial area of foothill ranch and it just doesn't make sense to spend that kind of money in this location. The temperature of the food was lukewarm, almost unacceptable for Chinese food where piping hot is the standard. Portions were minuscule with a high price tag. I'm used to live lobsters at Chinese restaurants but this place did not serve live. The waitstaff were attentive and warm, however when I said it was my mom's birthday and inquired about dessert, they brought out icecream and charged us for all 4 portions. They also charge $10 for tea. The pea sprouts were made a different way than what we ordered. I wasn't sure what to expect when I first heard that the old Denny's location was going to be a new Lobster Restaurant, but I was hoping that it would be a higher-end restaurant that served high quality lobster, and not some Sizzlers-type restaurant. Well, they finally opened, and so I checked them out at lunch. It's a beautifully (over-the-top in GOLD? LOL) decorated restaurant! For lunch, I had the stir-fried lobster noodles and the red curry shrimp. Both dishes were $25.99, which isn't a cheap lunch, but there were 12 large shrimp in the curry dish, which makes the price very reasonable! Both dishes were very flavorful and good! I am looking forward to coming back soon with the family to try the full lobster dishes! My only concern is whether the price point for this restaurant will draw enough business from the local neighborhoods. If they can draw the Irvine crowd up the hill, they'll do fine, because this is exactly the type of restaurant that would do very well in Irvine. I just hope that they can draw enough business up here in Foothill Ranch, because it would be great to have them around for a long time! Definitely worth checking out! read more

Honestly, this was a pretty bad experience. When we walked in, the place was completely dark with weird laser lights and loud DJ music. It felt more like a random club than a restaurant, and no one even turned on proper lighting when we arrived. The food wasn't great and they are very expensive. My sweet and sour ribs came out kind of cold, which made me feel like they were cooked earlier. They tasted okay, but definitely not fresh. The chicken wings were overcooked and dry, and they even brought the wrong order. The whole place looks more like a karaoke spot than somewhere you should go for a proper meal. The worst part was the service. We gave a lot of useful advice to the manager. The manager told us we would get 50% off because of everything, but when the bill came it was only 5%. When we asked, she said she meant 5%. That just felt misleading. Overall, not somewhere I'd go back to. We ordered chicken wings, 2 lobster rolls, 1 steamed lobster (one serving), one serving of Chinese broccoli, and a sweet and sour ribs. After subtracting 5%, the final bill was 186 dollars. I swear to god that my review is completely real, this is completely based on my real experience. I hope this restaurant could solve their problems asap. read more

The WORST place we've ever been to!! Wanted to try this new place and was a BIG disappointment . Service was so bad. We orders 3 dishes. The 1st dish that came out was our Lobster dish. Good but honestly over priced. 25 min later we've finished this dish and our 2 remaining dishes (ordered a single serving of soup and a shrimp dish) have not arrived yet. Shouldn't soup come out first?! Had to request the server (which apparently was the owner) for the rest of our meal four times!! Also no one filling water glasses, had to request this also. In the meantime, you could hear yelling back in the kitchen. Soup came out 25 min later and we're still waiting for our shrimp. From the time we received the 1st dish, it took 45 min for this shrimp to come out. Forgotten! We voiced our concerns to the owner and she really had nothing to say. We voiced our concern to another staff person who was very apologetic and admitted they definitely have issues. As we looked at the tables all around us, food was not coming out. Table to the right also complained their food was coming out slow. I watched as they received their vegetable dish first then yet another long wait for the rest of their dishes to come out: In the end the owner didn't offer any apologies, didn't offer a discount, or any comps. As we walked out, she completely ignored us. Incompetent and unprofessional . For the price and the service, this place was not worth it !! I'd like to add that this establishment was clean ( the only thing they got going for them) but interior is so gaudy !! Gold everywhere, was too bright in there. They want to come off as "fancy" but experience didn't match. There are other establishments much better than this place. Don't waste your time and money. This was our second visit since this restaurant recently opened, and unfortunately the experience was much worse than our first visit. We ordered a salad and two lobster dishes. When we asked our server if there were any side dishes available, we were told they don't offer sides. The lobster portions were surprisingly small, especially considering the high prices. The service was also disappointing. Our food arrived at different times--my lobster dish was served first, then my husband's, and the salad arrived last even though it should have been served before the entrées. I had specifically requested the chili peppers on the side for the salad, but that request was missed. Another issue was that no drinks were brought to our table until a different server noticed and offered to help. By then, my husband no longer wanted the wine he had planned to order, so we ended up just having sparkling water. The restaurant itself is beautiful and we had a good experience on our first visit, which is why this second visit was so disappointing. With the premium pricing, I would expect larger lobster portions, better attention to special requests, and more attentive service. I hope these are just growing pains and that management can improve the overall dining experience. read more
