Today my family and I tried this new restaurant, and unfortunately we were quite disappointed. The prices were high, but the food did not live up to our expectations. Several dishes we wanted to order were unavailable. We ordered the following dishes : Pan roasted chicken with sand ginger - lacked flavor and was overly salty Clay pot tofu in supreme broth - it was ok Garlic pea sprouts - had good flavor but the pea shoots were not very tender Dongpo braised pork belly - a little too sweet and didn't taste very authentic. It wasn't as tender or melt-in-your-mouth as a well-made Dongpo pork should be Yangzhou fried rice - Looked completely different from the photo on the menu. The photo showed pieces of BBQ pork, but our fried rice didn't have a single piece of meat in it. Overall, we don't think we'll be giving this restaurant another try. read more

I love Chinese food, especially the casual comfort dishes you typically find at neighborhood Chinese restaurants. Lately, though, I've been missing fine Chinese dining - the kind that showcases regional traditions with an emphasis on precise techniques, careful sourcing, and premium ingredients. For some reason, these restaurants seem much easier to find in East Asia than in Greater Los Angeles. Sure, there are places like Henry's Cuisine, Meizhou Dongpo, and Bistro Na's. Still, I was eager to discover another restaurant that offers refined Chinese cuisine. Then someone told me about a newly opened Cantonese restaurant called Long He. Naturally, I convinced my family to celebrate Father's Day there. We arrived at 11:40 am, just ten minutes after opening, and the dining room was already about three-quarters full - a very encouraging sign. Here are the dishes we ordered. Pan-Roasted Chicken with Sand Ginger (沙姜煎焗鸡) - 5/5. This is a simple, comforting clay pot dish featuring bone-in chicken seasoned with rice wine, sand ginger, garlic, scallions, and soy sauce. Despite its simplicity, the execution is outstanding. Every ingredient comes together to create chicken that is deeply savory, aromatic, and beautifully balanced. I especially appreciated the generous use of whole garlic cloves, which were roasted until soft and sweet enough to enjoy on their own. Sizzling Three Cup Silver Cod (铁板三杯银鳕鱼) - 4.5/5. Silver cod (often marketed as Chilean sea bass) is one of my favorite fish thanks to its rich, buttery texture and naturally high fat content. While this wasn't the finest cut I've ever had, it was still moist and satisfying. The Three Cup sauce was flavorful, but I felt it complemented the fish rather than elevating it to another level. Even so, it's a memorable dish that I'd happily order again. Crispy Five Spice Pork Roll (脆皮五香卷) - 4.5/5. The filling has an impressively smooth texture without becoming rubbery or mushy. The seasoning is subtle yet refined, with just the right balance of umami and five-spice aroma. The wrapper is fried until crisp while remaining light rather than dry or brittle. My only criticism is that one piece came from the end of the roll, where the wrapper had been folded several times. That section fried up noticeably harder than the rest. It's a minor flaw--and admittedly a bit of nitpicking--but it slightly detracted from an otherwise excellent dish. Macau-Style Salted Fish Eggplant Clay Pot (澳门咸鱼茄子煲) - 4/5. I believe Long He uses a higher-quality salted fish with a noticeable fermented character. That flavor may be an acquired taste; I enjoyed it, though the rest of my family wasn't as fond of it. The eggplant, however, was outstanding. It was beautifully browned with a delicate caramelized crust while remaining incredibly tender and silky inside. On the downside, the dish is greasier than it should be. Mango Pomelo Sago (杨枝甘露) - 3.5/5. The mango purée is easily the highlight. It's silky-smooth with a clean, balanced flavor that avoids becoming overly sweet or overly rich. The sago pearls were also cooked perfectly, providing just the right texture. However, the dessert lacked pomelo. I would have loved more pomelo segments, with brighter citrus notes and a touch more acidity to balance the mango's sweetness. Overall, considering Long He has only recently opened, I think it has built a very strong foundation. While it sits at a higher price point than your typical Cantonese restaurant, the cooking feels much closer to what you'd find at a fine dining Cantonese establishment. The kitchen demonstrates careful technique, quality ingredients, and thoughtful execution throughout the meal. Long He is a promising new addition to Greater Los Angeles' Chinese dining scene, and it's absolutely worth a visit. I'm looking forward to seeing how the restaurant continues to evolve over time. read more

Hubby's brother brought this place to our attention recently. We stopped by for lunch and were seated immediately. The waitress gave us a dish of peanuts with celery and carrots at no charge. Our starter was the Cilantro and Bean Curd Sheet Salad, followed by Cantonese Sweet and Sour Pork. and Beef Chow Fun. Sadly, hot mustard was not available. The servings of rice were very generous. It was nice getting a teapot of tea and teacups rather than just a teabag in a ceramic mug. I' was disappointed when I asked about the Vietnamese lobster. The waitress said the chef knew how it was cooked, but she could provide no information. I asked her to find out for me from the chef, but she did not follow thru. This is why my rating dropped from a 4 to a 3. There is ample parking in the shopping center's surface lot. read more

We were looking for a nice place to celebrate a family member's birthday, and came across this newly opened Cantonese restaurant from Guangzhou on Xiaohongshu. People were saying the head chef has over 40 years of experience and the reviews were great, so we decided to give it a try. The interior feels very similar to restaurants back in China--modern and super clean. The service style is kind of like Din Tai Fung: very standardized, organized, and efficient. We called ahead to make a reservation and even asked if they could arrange a nicer table for the birthday. They said no problem, but in reality, we were seated at a very basic, probably the worst table in the main dining area. That felt a bit disappointing--if it's not possible, it's totally fine to just say no upfront. We had pre-ordered a whole snapper since it takes longer to prepare. But when we arrived and mentioned it, the staff seemed completely unaware. Luckily, they still had one available that day. The snapper looked amazing and tasted even better--definitely a must-order! We also tried the crispy five-spice rolls, which were super flavorful and delicious. The morel mushroom chicken soup was rich and comforting. The dry-fried beef chow fun had great wok hei--highly recommend. On the other hand, the sand ginger chicken, Macau-style salted fish eggplant pot, and the basil garlic prime beef short ribs were just average--not as good as what you'd find at other Cantonese restaurants in Guangzhou. Service was a bit slow overall. There was quite a long wait between dishes, probably because it's a new restaurant and they're still working on efficiency. The food here is very authentic and tastes like something from Guangzhou, China. It's upscale and the flavor profile is on point. We came during their soft opening and for some reason half of their menu was already sold out! The cups they provided also didn't match, lol. I don't mind though. Food came out slow, but it was worth the wait. We ordered the Salted fish fried rice, Stir fried Chicken with ginger slices, Fatty braised pork, and Sea cucumber. Everything was a 5/5! I keep saying, "wow," after the first bite from every dish. If you like Panda Express don't come here, but if you like real good Chinese food, then freakin come here. If you see lots of Chinese people here, you for sure know this is the spot, lol. The food here is actually better most restaurants back in 626! Love that there is finally an authentic Cantonese style restaurant in Orange County!!! We came on a weekday around 730pm and business was popping. Service was very good and very attentive, constantly checking in on us. We ordered the chicken with wine and it was delicious (a little on the salty side). Also really loved the Chinese water spinach, which was flavored so well!! There are so many options. I can't wait to come back and try more dishes. Open to changing this later but I would give this place at least another month to get things together. The restaurant overall is very clean and servers are very friendly. They had the AC blasting but were open to turning it down since we were sitting right under the vent. They appear to have private rooms as well. Their menu as of yesterday was either limited, or they actually sold out of anything worth eating. There were at least 3 dishes my party of 6 wanted but couldn't order. Salted fish eggplant - probably the best dish of the night. Well flavored and cooked the way I would expect it to be Pork knuckle - okay. I don't usually order this because I've been disappointed everywhere except Henry's in SGV. This was no exception Mushroom tofu - good but could've used more snap peas and maybe one more piece of tofu Garlic shrimp - the shrimp was okay freshness wise, and they were very generous with the garlic. The dish came out a bit colder than I liked. Beef chow fun - couldn't tell you because after an hour, they came out to tell us it would be a longer wait if we still wanted it. The servers still seem to be learning the table numbers. Food comes out unbelievably slow. You've finished your previous dish just waiting by the time your next one comes out. read more

This review is based on to go only. Knowing it's soft opening, we went early at 6p to order. About half of the menu were sold out already. They definitely have kinks that they need to work out. We were told to use the QR code to see what was still available to order. You can't order on the website. You will have to order with the server. About 35 minutes later food was ready. Food was packaged very nicely, in gold foil container and pressed seal tight. It also came with a small box of paper napkin, which was a nice touch. Some dishes portion, such as cod in clay pot, seemed to be very small. We will likely go back to dine in and try other food items. The food portions seem bigger when you dine in. Got greeted and seated quickly. Manager knew I was hungry arranged my starter and soup right away. Quick and friendly service. Our server Calvin was nice and made good recommendations. Very authentic Cantonese food. Got beef chow fun, Chilean Sea Bass, swt sr pork, chicken soup w morel mushrooms, mango sago. When the soup came out piping hot with umami, beef chow fun nicely done with wok hey, I could tell the difference. New and clean dinning room with bright lighting. Everything about my lunch here was amazing! The peanuts, the pork belly, the fried rice...but the slow-cooked crispy beef short ribs were by far the greatest thing I have ever eaten! This is a more upscale restaurant with prices a little higher (if compared to a more casual spot) but the portion sizes were still large and the quality of the ingredients was well worth every penny spent. Very disappointed with both time visits at the restaurant. Signature dishes are not ready and service is slow, even with 40% capacity. Salmon sashimi mix is good, sweet sour pork is horrible using fatty pork instead of pork tenderloin. Steak short rib pepper dishes are mostly bones and fatty pieces, beef is tough as well, can't compete with Korean restaurant kalbi, even thought it looks like exactly. Tofu soup is bland and tofu tastes generic. A lot of signature dishes on the top of yelp photos are not available. read more

The food is the highlight here. The chef uses the freshest, highest quality ingredients in every dish. This is an excellent Cantonese restaurant. The location is convenient with good parking, but the shopping strip doesn't do justice to the quality of the dining. This is a very fine upscale Chinese restaurant in a newly developed mall, where new businesses are still moving in. We have gone there twice during their soft opening. The food is delicious and well prepared in classic Hong Kong style. Several dishes deserve notice I think, such as the shrimp and scallops with candied walnuts and asparagus, and the cold shredded chicken with pickled garlic and a light dressing. The short ribs with red bell peppers was my son's favorite. The ambience is bright, pleasant and quiet with attentive, unobtrusive service. I am definitely coming back. They are still working out some of there procedures but overall, a really good experience. The staff was very pleasant and helpful! The kitchen was a bit slow but since they are still under a soft opening, I expect this will improve once they dial it in before the official opening. The food was fantastic. Lots of flavor, beautifully prepared, and reminds me of my childhood! And the restaurant itself was very clean and well designed. If you're looking for a Chinese/American restaurant, this is not the place! But if you want real Chinese cooking, you must come here! read more
