Scheduled an appointment for 12 noon. Arrived around 11:55 am, checked in at the kiosk, no one spoke to me. Finally at 12:15 pm as they took back the third person who arrived after us I asked when we'd be seen and if the other people had an appointment all she said was her appointment is with me. Sure, I didn't select someone during the appointment process but I shouldn't have to, to have my appointment honored or be given any sort of positive customer service. By 12:30 we still haven't been seen, no additional conversation to me from anyone. If you're running behind fine but say something. Awful experience do not recommend if you want somewhere that respects your time, treats you at all positively or acknowledges you as a customer. Finally taken back to a chair at 12:35 pm, which means we're missing our 1 pm lunch reservations. Not a great haircut either. Asked for shaggy hair with layers. She paid no attention to the natural cox in the hair so the back looked a mess chunky weird and uneven. Sides a bit uneven- when I pointed out she went too short on the other side and I gave up. I really needed a trim for a meeting and thought what is the worst that can happen so I went in without a reservation. I only had to wait 20 minutes and this great woman called me and washed my hair, have me the trim I really wanted and even used a great conditioner. She blew it out and it looked great. The place is clean and comfortable. The service from the front desk to the woman that did my hair was great. I could not be happier. Now, I rarely go to Pasadena for a haircut, but if I am ever near there I will be back there. The prices are super reasonable. It is a chain and this is a good one so try it sometime. We used to drive to Orange County for haircuts. That's the level of pickiness we're talking about. Then we met Josie. We are VERY particular about my 89 yr old grandma's hair. It's thin, needs serious TLC, and she is still sharp and extremely opinionated so a lot would be said if she doesn't like her haircut. Josie passed her standards with flying colors which is basically unheard of!! Of course I had to get my own haircut with her and wow. She's magic!! My hair grows beautifully, faster than expected, and I'm already plotting my next color with her. The salon is clean, appointments are easy to book, and all the ladies are lovely. I clearly told the stylist, M., I just wanted a trim and that I wanted my hair one length with no layers. She said ok. WELL, long story short, she trimmed off a little more than I had asked, but whatever. Then, she finished off with TEXTURING SCISSORS, which thinned the ends by more than an inch, thus making them more prone to split and have less volume. WHY OH WHY? You can even see this "technique" in their Google pics with straight hair (the ends). And I don't think the stylist even knew what texturing scissors were for . SO, I frustratingly went back and asked her to even it. She did it in a hurry and I lost even more length. Plus, I'm out $48! I wouldn't recommend this place. read more

3.5 stars to be exact. To keep this short and simple as possible. I was looking for a place to cut my hair.. it was getting way too long. So I dropped into FS with no appointment. They were super kind and asked me to check in. It was about 15-20 mins into my check in that they took me to cut my hair. The lady was super sweet. She asked what I wanted and I told her to shorten the top and just make it look good overall. She buzzed the sides, then took me over to shampoo my hair. While shampooing my hair she kept offering me products to buy, which I was not interested (I assume this is part of their job) but it was a bit irritating cause I just wanted a simple haircut). Then went back, put the top of my hair into a Mohawk shortened the top while holding my hair like a Mohawk down the middle and handed me the mirror as if she's done. I asked her if she could at least put some type of fade to the sides, she seemed like she didn't want to lol, but did it anyway. The whole haircut seemed pretty effortless. I've never had someone hold my hair up down the middle, cut it and be done. I was in and out in about 10-15 mins. I honestly don't like my haircut. I'll probably be fixing it at home. So my experience was not good with the actual haircut. BUT I would like to say that their customer service is great. Their store manager is very kind and attentive. The people who work there seem to be extremely kind. They seem to know what to do with all the women's hair that were there. I just personally didn't have a good experience. I had such a great experience with Josie at the Lake Avenue location. I came in wanting a very specific look, something subtle, natural, and softly sun-kissed, more of an "old money" bronde with teddy chai brunette tones, and she truly understood the vision from the start. I had very grown-out balayage and was looking for a refresh that stayed close to my natural color while adding dimension and blending grays. Josie absolutely delivered. It's never a bad thing when your hair stylist is obsessed with how their work came out -- I haven't cut my hair in about two years (clearly), and I knew I needed a makeover. I found Josie's work here on Yelp, and when I called (same day) for an appt, she was available thankfully. I showed her pictures of the haircut I wanted and ideas for hair color, and she walked me through it all -- as we went along with the color process, she asked me what I wanted, and -- to make sure it was truly what I wanted -- she showed me color swatches of what she was envisioning to make sure it aligned with what I wanted (I really appreciated this because I was unsure of why would look good with my skin tone too). She also took the time to check in with me about the length of my haircut and would double- and triple-check her work as she dried it (another thing I loved because I have a horrible tendency to lean my head slightly to the right -- she noticed and make sure my hair was evened out). Overall, Josie's work was/is remarkable, and she was such a joy to talk with during the entire process.
