I have been coming here for quite a while but last time when I was here this lady seem very nice and I told her pacifically that I don't want my top here to be short I just want sides and back to be faded on number two and I want to do a ponytail on top so do not make it too short she ruined the whole haircut my hair look miserable after I went back home and I took a shower and was setting up my hair my back got a bald spot my two sides are uneven on the left side it's so up high but I don't even know how long it's going to take to fix it I've been coming here on Saturday and today on Sunday and they're closed I cannot leave a message on the phone I want my $24.00 back this is not right read more

Don't go here for highlights!!! The owner did foil highlights and it was a disaster! She got them nowhere near the scalp. Some were a half inch to 3/4 if an inch away. This is not acceptable to me and so she painted on with a brush the bleach at the scalp to help bridge the gap. She did not leave this bleach on long enough so now I am left with a splotchy, brassy mess! I had to pay $80 for a horrible job! read more

I had an amazing experience here! I came in with bronze, dull hair.... I came here because I read the great reviews on Yelp and the location was close to my home. When I walked in the door I was greeted by a kind gentlemen with a huge smile. It made me feel WELCOME and at ease (as I am always nervous to get my hair dyed due to a bad experience at another salon in the past). Unji did an AMAZING JOB! She was very friendly and so was the hairstylist beside her. I had asked her for a partial highlight and that I wanted my hair to be "brighter". She foiled my hair up QUICK, I was impressed by her speed and effieciency. After the highlight was finished, she rinsed it out and stated she was going to put a toner in my hair for 10 minutes to help with the "bronzy" color and to make my hair brighter, like I had stated earlier. I had no idea about "toner", so I was excited to see the results of my ugly bronze brass hair be a brighter color. When she finished trimming and blow drying my hair it looked FANTASTIC. She asked questions to make sure I didn't want my hair cut too short in the back and what length I wanted my bangs. I could tell she wanted to make sure that I was taken care of. OVERALL I WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE OVERALL CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THE RESULTS OF MY HIGHLIGHT/TONER, CUT AND STYLE. I will definitely be back to Unji for future appointments. One word: Tracy! Background info.. otherwise, skip to the end. :) I moved to Texas earlier this year, and us girls know what a task it is to search for and find the right hair stylist. I had been going to my hair stylist in California for nearing on ten years. I didn't trust anyone else with my hair, and not because I have any special or complex requests (my hair is low maintenance), but because in the past, when I'd ask for "a trim", it somehow would become a hack job. Throughout this year, I'd visited home and been able to wait long enough to get my hair cut with my long-time stylist. But as the trips became sparser, I knew I needed to find someone here in the DFW area. Back home, it was a bit expensive for a trim, but it's California, and she deserved every bit of the money anyway! :) So this time around, I decided I'd search for a stylist who was close to home, inexpensive, and of course, awesome! This is where Tracy comes into the picture! Thanks to the review below that recommended her, I'm a new and permanent fan! First off, she is very sweet, and she even will come in to the salon on her day off if that's what suits you. I didn't do that to her, haha, but I went when she'd already be there. It was very easy to make an appointment in that same week. Since it was her first time meeting me, she sat me down and we talked about what I wanted for my hair, and any other necessary details. The shampoo and conditioning was relaxing, too! I showed her how much I preferred to be trimmed off, and she agreed that it would help get those pesky dry ends cleaned up. And let me just say, she cut off exactly how much I'd expected! That's a rare find in a stylist, so on that point alone, she wins big raves. I didn't opt to blow dry and style it, but we did decide to use a product to see how it would react with my hair if I leave it wet (it's naturally wavy/curly and usually I blow dry it out straight), and if I liked it, I could always come back to purchase it. I loved that product, by the way! Haven't bought it yet, but I will. The next morning when I washed it and then blow-dried it myself, I completely and obsessively loved my hair! It was just a trim, but she managed to make my front layers look/lay even better than they had before. The salon itself is a popular chain, and it's clean. The pricing can't be beat for the quality service you get. I paid $18-something before tip! I still love my stylist in California as we've become friends throughout the years, but I have a new favorite here in Dallas/Plano. :) I won't be going anywhere else in Texas. read more

I'm not one to really care much about my hair (as you can probably tell by my profile photo) - I've always worn it in lengths varying from shaggy to "wait, that's a guy?". I generally get a haircut once or twice a year, and just go to whatever place is nearby. I've been getting sick of it lately though, and finally decided to get it chopped pretty short. Stopped by Fantastic Sams - I've been here a few times before over the years. Always decent haircuts and decent people, but it's always been just another chain hair place for me. This location is apparently under new ownership. Waiting area now has complimentary coffee and tea. The stylist I got today - Whitney - absolutely blew me away. Fantastic haircut, lots of useful tips and info, suggestions on how often I should come back to keep it looking good (like I said, I cut it maybe once or twice a year, but I've gotten kind of sick of looking like a slob), not overly pushy with the product upsells, and very friendly. She spent more time on my hair than anybody has ever done before, and it shows. I got the kind of treatment I'd expect from a high end hair salon (not saying Fantastic Sams is bottom tier; I'd rate them higher than SuperCuts, but it's still a large chain). Was a new customer and when I signed up I got an emailed confirmation and a 25% coupon for new customers. Got to the shop in Parrish FL and the manager would not honor the coupon! Because she said it wasn't honored on Saturday's. The email said absolutely nothing about only certain days. Will not go back to a business that doesn't keep their word! read more

Avoid-Avoid-Avoid. Was charged twice for the same visit. No one knew how to reverse extra charge. Staff was rude and hung up when I asked for a manager or owner to help resolve the issue. My 5 yr old grand daughter never had her haircut and was very long. 2 weeks ago she got a tangle in the back of her head that quickly became a "nest " of knots. We tried everything to get it out (coconut oil, conditioners, baby oil) We brought her into Fantastic Sams in Fort Worth (Beach and Western Center) and for well over an hour Lakia & Elisha worked on her hair. They had a crying, kicking child but were beyond patient through it all. Afterwards, she got about 5" off with a blow dry & braid. It looks so much better!! Kudos to them!! read more

After moving here from California, i didn't think I would find someone that cut hair as well as the the people here at Fantastic Sams. Irina has been cutting my sons hair. She does miracles on men's hair. She has that special touch. Tracy is amazing at doing women's hair. Everyone that I have ever referred to her has never been unhappy. Having only lived here since May 2013, I'm still fairly new to the area, which makes it hard to find my perfect hair stylist. I turned to "yelp" and searched hair salons in this area. I found Tracy at Fantastic Sams, which is 3 miles away from where I live. She had great reviews and met my expectations 100%. Their prices were within my strict budget and Tracy was very professional, friendly, calm, and skilled. On top of that, her communication skills were excellent, making it very easy for me to tell her my expectations and feel understood. Great listener. Great refer-a-friend program, too! First off, she was on the phone when started working on my daughter, then she tried to charge a kid's haircut as an adult's haircut and when I asked for shampoo for my daughter, which is included in the price, said that I should've told her earlier and she refused to give her one. I found a wonderful hair stylist so I decided to schedule an appt and come back for color. I came in for my appt and was disappointed to find out that the location was out of the toners to use on my hair and I was going to have to reschedule and come back in 5 days later to get my hair done. I'm crying from frustration. Literally. I showed the lady the picture of the kind of length I wanted it. I ended up with the shortest hair. When she first started cuting it she asked me if it was a good length and I said yes, she said I'll do a couple of layers to help with volume next thing you know i get two more inches cut off. I told her it was to short and she just said it looks short cuz of my wavy hair. I told her the length I wanted because I know my hair is wavy. I drove out of my way to go to this place because it had good reviews. You can find a better place for a better price as well. Very, very disappointed. read more

I walked in to this shop looking to get some fresh color in my hair to correct my own at home color job (no it didn't come out the way I anticipated). From the moment I walked in I felt resistance from each person I talked to. When I explained what I wanted another stylist was called from the back to consult with me. She went into this long explanation about how she would have to bleach my whole head to get the color I requested and could not give me a price because she was new (2 weeks on the job) and didn't know the pricing schedule. She then consulted another stylist who told her she was wrong, she wouldn't need to bleach. But this woman was also very resistant to offering any real pricing, and even though there was no need to bleach my hair, was so insistent that any additional color would damage my hair (contrary to the two consultations I had at other shops. The only reason I didn't go with either one of them was due to scheduling options, and I needed my hair done faster than I could get an appointment). She finally reluctant told me that color would be $50 and I said ok fine. Even then she kept sighing and rolling her eyes like she was just waiting for me to leave. I have never felt so unwelcome in a place of business. It was clear that they did not want me there and I no longer felt that I could reasonably trust them with my hair. I told them I didn't feel welcome and they put on a fake resistance before I walked out the door. Shockingly enough, I was able to get my color done at another salon and surprise surprise, it came out just fine. So either these people are incompetent at their job or they just felt like being biased against me (I wonder why) Don't bother wasting your time here! read more
