Yikes... Came in for trim and was greeted decently... Got a hair wash and trim. Stylist was in a rush for no reason. She washed my hair pretty ok. Then I sat down at the trimming station and she trimmed the amount I asked for, at least... My stylist made me feel judged, insecure and not welcomed as a customer. She doesn't seem like she has any acknowledgment for customer service at all. But this wasn't even made me decide to leave this review. After she was done blow drying my hair it was still %65 wet! I asked her if she can blow dry it more and she didn't say anything and blow dried it for like 30 more seconds. Not to mention, she was snacking on something while doing my hair... very professional. Then she finished my hair with it still being wet as I show in the photo below. Didn't say anything else because I had already said something and I think it's common sense not to leave your client with their hair soaking wet. Went to pay for it and left a small tip out of generosity. Lady at cashier was pretty nice but when she saw how much of a tip I left she looked disappointed. Like be happy I'm leaving a tip at all... Also online it says a trim will be $30 but AFTER I got it done they told me it'll be $40 because my hair is long which they could have mentioned beforehand. Last thing I want to mention is my stylist looked like she didn't want to be there the whole time while doing my hair in a hurry and gave me a bunch of attitude. If you want a stylist who cares about your hair and their customers I do not recommended coming here. Way better options for a hair trim for same price. read more

I came in a few weeks ago to get my haircut at this Fantastic Sam's. My hair was long (almost to my waist) and uneven due to trimming it on my own the past year, and I usually don't like getting haircuts out of fear of getting it cut too short. I got my hair cut by Victoria and this is honestly the BEST haircut I've had in a LONG time! She gave me exactly what I was looking for (kept my hair long with really nice layers and layers to frame my face). Not only that, she didn't judge me for my uneven hair (lol). Instead, she was super friendly and we ended up having great conversation during the whole thing. I got my engagement photos done a few days later and I got a lot of compliments on my hair! I'm so happy with it and I plan on continuing to get my hair trimmed here so long as Victoria is there! Thank you Victoria! read more

Alessandra was so professional with my sister today. My sister has had a stroke and has trouble with her speech, and she was recovering from a broken hip. Alessandra was very gentle and gave my sister a hairstyle that she loved and can take care of easily. Honestly, I've never had a bad haircut experience and have never lined up my hair before, my main barber was out of town so I came here seeing the name "FANTASTIC SAMS" called in to see if men can get a hair cut, she had said yes. I came in asking for a line up with a taper on the sides said 0 was to hard and did one halfway through she said "ah all 1 now" as giving up on my hair lol. If your a 20yr man (me) don't come here should've payed attention and noticed super cuts further down smh. Also I have never given a barber (when trying out barbers) a tip under $20 I honestly tried giving zero to this place but couldn't because the person whom "cut" my hair was standing over the reader to see what I clicked. I was traveling and was getting really frustrated with my hair. I am always hesitant to walk into a salon for a hair service. Especially since my hair is so short. They were able to get me in with in 10 minutes which was nice. I wasn't really sure what I wanted but I knew what I didn't like about my hair. I explained to the stylist what I was struggling with and she knew exactly what to do. She even talked me through it so I knew what to expect. She was so nice and I really enjoyed the whole experience. I will definitely be using this location as my go to when I am here visiting family. read more

Let us describe Fantastic Sams on Crenshaw BLVD. Torrance. First I called to ask do you have a stylist who can cut Pixie and colour. YES! was the answer so i made an appointment. Michel D. was the hairstylist, she told me quote" I have 37 years of experience" so at start I felt great she knows what to do. I showed her a picture of a pixie cut, with White Highlights on the top, and dark grey on the razored shorter parts. YES! she said so off we go. I walked out of the place 4 HOURS LATER! with dark brown and orange red highlights????? how embarrassing i was lost for words what to say. So the next day I called and spoke with the Manager Mona Izhar, she said come back and i will try to fix it. So that is what i did, more highlights, more bleach after 2 hours I left with dark brown and and deep Yellow highlights. It is very obvious this shop does not know anything about colouring hair, disaster. So after $185.00 and six hours my hair is burnt and the most stupid colour. What do we do about hairstylists shops who destroy your hair and you pay them for doing so. To try and do something about my hair it cost me another $75.00 for a trip to correct the errors and a very expensive purple shampoo to help with the yellow hair. IS THERE ANYONE OUT THERE WHO KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT ACHIEVING POSSITIVE RESULTS WITH THE LOSS OF MONIES AND TIME WITH THESE PEOPLE WHO DO NOT KNOW THEIR JOBS? I actually really liked this place. My hairstylist was Teresa, and she was very sweet and did a great job with the actual application of color on my hair. Unfortunately, we picked the wrong color. They recommended a color and I agreed, thinking it would be brown with a reddish tint. It didn't look that bright in the shop, but outside, it was cherry red. With my skin tone, I could not have my hair that bright for my work without potentially getting in trouble in my line of work. I had to take off two stars because when I went back in three days and calmly explained that I needed to tone down my hair, the girl who was there, was super rude. I didn't say it was their fault - it was a mutual misunderstanding of what color I was going for. The application was totally fine. But the girl that was there insisted it was my fault so she can fix it but would have to charge me the same price as when I came in before. I could not wait until the next day when Teresa was in, because I had something important that day that I didn't want bright red hair for. Given that the shop was empty at the time, it seems like they could have helped me for less than the full price given the understandable circumstances where a color comes out much brighter than expected. I am a professional entertainer and need to make sure that I look top-notch at all times! I happily drive the extra 25 minutes to make sure my hair comes out right! I asked Michelle S for a haircut after being introduced to me by a friend. Having long, straight hair like mine is sometimes difficult to handle, and even though had to simply trim the ends, she checked the length from various angles and adjusted it with a comb many times. Even though other salons set prices just because I have long hair, they don't cut it as carefully as she does. Additionally, her customer service is excellent. I want to start by saying all of the gals inside were nice and I felt very safe with the standards they had implemented with Covid, which is why I'm not giving 1 star. I booked a blowout, I believe Hengameh was my stylist, and while she was really nice, I'm really unhappy with the results. The wash was rougher than I would've liked. I showed a photo of a blowout I had just the other day as a reference photo but came out fluffy and messy looking... really sad that I'm going home and having to style it myself anyways.. definitely not worth $40 read more

My hairstylist moved to another state last year and I've been struggling with touching my roots myself. I decided to start looking for someone that I can go to for my touch ups once a month at least. I called this location of fantastic Sam as it's close to where I live. I made an app and I asked the lady how much they charge, and she said 55$. So I went there and the lady, Mona, was trying to convince me to have my keratin done by her and then she mentioned my highlights have ash color that needs to be treated. I actually agreed to let her do it soon. I went to pay and the lady at the front desk said 75$. She said that Mona asked her to charge me this much because of my thick hair. I actually said ok because I was planning to leave her a 20$ tip on top of the 55$ anyway. Touching my roots took her exactly 10 to maximum 15 min. I went home and as my hair dried up, I wanted to see how the touch up looked. I was shocked to say the least. The color wasn't the same as I mentioned to her I use #7 in light brown. my white roots look very transparent and in some areas roots were not even touched. Check photos for yourself and you can also get an idea of how thick my hair is according to her. I could only take photos of the front. I don't want to check the back even if I could. I will never go there. I don't recommend it. I'm so disappointed at my time and money waisted in this first experience there!! read more

First time going to a fantastic Sam's. Guess what you get what you pay for. My little one just needed a simple hair cut. She has thick hair but that shouldn't matter! I paid $5 extra because of the fact that her hair was think and even tipped the lady. When we got home and my daughter's hair was completely dried we realized her hair was completely butchered and choppy and uneven.! We came back today to have it fixed and a lady named Mona assessed it and literally laughed when she seen it! Laughed at a 6 year old's hair. I told her I didn't see anything funny about it and she ignored me when I said that. She then "fixed" it and it was still choppy. Said that it was because she had alot of hair. This place used to be good for men's haircuts but now they have increased the prices even more and it's $30 for a simple men's haircut. Terrible and won't be coming back here. My boyfriend introduced me his hair stylist who was good at haircut. I knew she did good job for him, but still I was skeptical. Hair types between Asian and American (European) are different, right!? I am Asian, and especially my hair is thick and naturally wavy. My hair gets frizzy in humid weather. So I couldn't decide to see her. But I tried her hair cut/color last year. I brought a picture of a haircut to show her and requested her a light black color (not a jet black color) to dye my hair.
