$10 manicures? Sure but how great was the service. My friend and I walked in to get our nails done for the holiday. We didn't expect much since it was pretty cheap. Compared to my friend, my nail technician didn't put in as much effort whatsoever. She didn't paint the corners that well / clean off the extra nail polish - she basically just wanted to get it over with. It wasn't that crowded so I don't know why she was rushing? WARNING: The 20% discount is apparently invalid. My nail technician turned to her coworkers and said in Vietnamese, "it'll come out to be $8.." I didn't tell her I understood.. I highly recommend taking that check in discount down so it doesn't confuse other customers. I don't really care how much the discount is, just don't give me attitude when you're the one promoting false advertisement. The way she asked for the money was rude too! For my entire life, i have never found a hairstylist that cut my hair that made me look sexy until i met Mimi! When i first walked in, i was just hoping for a trim, but when Mimi first caught her eyes on me, she was like " Oh no no no" She knew my previous hair stylist did not do a great job, and she saw that my hair had a lot of potential of having a beautiful style. So she suggested for her to fix it, so i agreed. Mimi knows what she's doing and she is very creative. She will make your hair look gorgeous. She dedicates to not only make the haircut right for you but also make you look gorgeous with the style. She pays close attention to the shape of your face in order to create a great hair style for you. She also plays around with your hair showing you different ways you can style your hair, either by tying it , putting a clip on, etc. Then she gives you advice how to maintain your hair. With other hair stylist, i usually don't have conversations with them, but with Mimi, she makes you feel comfortable. She also compliments you after she finishes cutting your hair by saying "your hair looks sexy" or " you look like a model" with sincere. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great hairstylist. I have to say that unlike the sister store downstairs, this place is single-handedly redeemed by a couple of the stylists. Annie is a star. The first time I came in was for a trim, and I explained to her that there are three layers in my hair that need to be redefined. I indicated to her where the shortest layer should end so she knew exactly how much to trim relative to that. I also told her to keep the pieces in the front shorter than the rest--not as their own layer, but just because when I have an updo, I like a couple of at the front pieces to frame my face. (And it would look off if they were too long.) Annie followed the instructions seamlessly. She did a terrific job, and to my pleasant surprise, she also styled my hair and didn't seem to charge extra for it. Luckily, she styled it exactly the way I always like it styled, with a curling iron, just simple curls. What was *amazing* was that it took her about 15 minutes to style it. I have abundant hair and have *never* seen a hairdresser complete that style that fast! I would give Annie alone four stars. The only place where she loses a star is for styling without warning when I only came in for a trim; though I personally was very happy about this, I could see other clients being potentially not so thrilled with the results. A few months later, I also had my hair done by Lee, and this time I came in for the curls themselves. She was a bit confused at first, because my hair is naturally curly, but God knows that a curling iron can take out the frizz. She took a long time to do my hair, but was very careful and considerate, making sure that when she separated the parts they weren't disturbing my face. I forgot to tell her not to use hairspray. My mistake. I'm not holding it against this establishment in particular, but I do wish salons would train their stylists to ask before spraying down a client's hair! My hair is thick, textured, and holds a shape naturally. Hairspray is only necessary for updos. I don't believe this place is as clean as it could be; I take my deep conditioning needs elsewhere. read more

My mom wanted to get her shoulder length hair layered and showed Mimi a picture of what she wanted and she was able to do it. But after my mom came home, she felt like her hair was at an awkward length so changed her mind and decided to go back and get a shorter bob instead. Even though it was almost closing time when my mom went back to the salon, Mimi was very accommodating and made sure my mom was satisfied with her haircut before she left. Apprehensive to visit this nail salon because of the previous reviews, but I had a gift certificate from a friend so figured I couldn't go wrong using it at the location closer to home (Oakridge is a bit farther and has lower ratings). Was seated as soon as I arrived - I had called and let them know what services I was hoping to receive. The manicure + pedicure price was reasonable at $30, and the services fell into that price range - you're not paying to go to a real spa, so you're not receiving spa services, but they were justified. Employees working seemed nice and the pedicure included a brief foot scrub and leg massage. Manicure was completed at the pedicure chair and wasn't too shabby - but I only got clear polish for my fingers, and it started chipping hours after I left the salon, so that was disappointing. I don't have time to go back, but I would hope that if I called to ask for them to fix the poor quality paint job, that they would. I ended up taking their clear polish off and just redoing it myself - I think it was applied too thick in two coats at the salon and could have dried longer in between coats. Wouldn't go back for a manicure, but not upset that I went in for the pedicure. They were gentle and didn't cause me any discomfort or cuts during the services like I had seen in some other reviews. read more

I don't know why I came here knowing about their reviews, but I was desperate and needed to get a simple mani and pedi. Once I walked in, I wasn't greeted at all so I just went straight to the shelf with all their color options. Once I found my color, I sat down in their little area that they call a sitting area which consisted of an office chair, a park bench, and a few other desk chairs. After a few minutes, one of the staff ladies walked up to me and asked what I would like to get done, which I said "mani, pedi." So she takes me to one of the massage chairs where you get your pedicure done. I already did not like how they do not place a plastic wrapping in the foot bath and I am sure that they do not clean it out before and/or after each customer, which is totally unsanitary (at least I haven't seen it done). I don't know who else's feet has been in there! Also, the lady steps away with her cell phone in her hand giving me the "give me one second" signal while my feet were getting burned from the hot water! I literally had my feet in the air out of the water until another staff lady working on another customer next to me had to warn her coworker that my water is too hot. Once my water temperature was adjusted, she started on the pedicure, which was like your typical generic pedicure, nothing too special. The manicure, however, was a nightmare! It was all fine and well until she got to cleaning out my cuticles. Again, she answered a call from her cell phone and started talking on it WHILE she was doing my nails. So she started digging into my fingers trying to get all my cuticles and she even made me bleed! When she pulled a cuticle that hurt the first time, of course I said "ouch!" and pulled away my hand to give her the idea, but no! She continued to pull out my cuticles doing the same thing on another finger. Then when I bled out, she applied this blue solution that made my whole finger sting. From that point on, I just wanted the whole thing to be over. From this experience, I will never come back. To those future customers, beware or go somewhere else. read more

Okay, this review is strictly about Mimi! Without a doubt, she gives the best haircuts! She gets super busy with walk-ins and appointments, but she always makes sure that we are taken care of. Although her wait times can be a little long due to her numerous customers, she usually finishes earlier than her time estimate (maybe come back around 10-15 min before your designated time). Mimi is very punctual. If you're ten minutes late, you're basically yesterday's news. That meant I had the opportunity to go eat up at Tomi Sushi twice (#priorities). I asked Mimi to layer my hair. I was a little distraught that she gave me bangs when I specifically asked not to have them. She told me I was wrong and that they were layers. I wish there would be a little more communication and a better agreement on what was going to be done instead of telling me I couldn't have it my way. It didn't help that I had friends afterwards who told me my layering was awful! Fantasy Beauty Spa is a bit nostalgic and goes back to what having hair done used to be like when you were a kid. Your hair cut won't be an equivalent of a trip to Alexander's Steakhouse. I got off work late, and checked Yelp for a nail salon that was still open so I could get a set of gel nails done. I called in advance to make sure that I wasn't bugging them by coming in at that time, and after confirming what services I wanted, they let me know I could come in. I came in about 40 minutes before closing, and the nail tech started on my nails after I showed her and had her confirm a photo of the manicure I wanted (nail art on pointy nails, with hearts for French tips). The nail tech started off really nice, but halfway through the manicure, it was very obvious that she was rushing me and that she really didn't care about the quality of the manicure she was doing for me. She globbed on gel polish unevenly, cut my cuticles down until they bled and then got acetone on them, and when she asked me to check my nails between steps, she wouldn't listen to any of my input on the nails being uneven or about lint getting caught in the polish or about the nail art not looking anything like what I showed her. She wouldn't do the nail art I agreed to, and I asked her if she could at least do it on two nails, she acted like I was really inconveniencing her, and kept telling me that the manicure I wanted was doing too much and that the colors I initially wanted was tacky and "too old" for me. The nail art she did was really sloppy and I really couldn't hide how disappointed I was. I asked her twice if she could please clean up the nail art so it could look like the photos I showed her, but she kept telling me how late it was and that she "wouldn't know what to do" if she had to start over. I was quoted $40 for a set of gel nails with artificial tips considering the nail art I wanted, and was still charged this price even after the nail technician refused to do the nail art I wanted, and after she only did "nail art" on two nails. They were supposed to be heart-shaped French tips, but really ended up being uneven blobs on the ends of my nails. I was going to leave halfway through, but I was grateful that they were willing to see me at such a late hour. I did not, however, appreciate that I was told that they would be able to accommodate me for the manicure I had wanted only to be rushed and forced to settle for a subpar job. read more

I love getting a pedicure and manicure from here! I get the pedicure from here all the time. They raise the price just recently! Its now $25. I like going in to see Hannah. She is very sweet. Ask for her when you come inside! She does a excellent job! I never got a haircut here. I think that's the only thing missing... Hannah is Vietnamese, but she speaks English so there shouldn't be a problem. I don't know much else about her except she is great at her job. I get a pedicure done about weekly. Going here is convenient too and the location isn't bad. Your going to be able to spot this place because its by the restrooms. I been going here for years I would say, and it hasn't changed. Except the price! I mentioned the price. Its a $5 increase. Pretty reasonable price for pedicure because they are using there hands to cut your toes now...Manicure here ain't bad either, Hannah does it for me. I get the French Manicure. Well, I am always nervous with the new hair stylist, but Mimi's funny personality and skillful way she cut made me feel comfortable and enjoyable. I am happy with how my hair looks. It looks more trendy. Mimi also gave me tips on styling at home.
