Love the lights display! The Christmas village usually has some unique ornaments and lights for your Christmas tree. There is also the most amazing kettle corn that you should pick up before you drive through! We went tonight to celebrate our 5th year of Forever Day. The first place we went with our 2 children after adoption day was to Callaway Gardens and then the Fantasy in lights at night. It really was a total disaster tonight. I would have given them 0 stars if it weren't for the friendly staff they have working. That is the only positive that I can give them. We planned to eat there and make it a total night of it. We had bought tickets online already. Lights have not really changed a bit in the 5 years since we have gone. OK, they are still pretty, so 2nd positive thing. After seeing lights we ate, sign says sausage sandwich 10 and etc. Then the woman told my wife the sandwich was a combo and it came with a drink. We sat down to eat and she told me it cost 73.00 for the 4 combos. I was blown away, they never told her it was extra 18.00 to get fries and drink for each sandwich, and no where does it state anything but the 10 sandwich. Definitely a scam. When questioned it was stated that yeah it happens all the time. We then went into the Christmas building and we were told it was closing in 15 minutes. I said it is only 9:15 and was told they close at 9:30. However, it states they are open until 11 on their page. So we really were not able to enjoy it being rushed out. Walked away feeling scammed big time. We will never go back and I can assure you I will tell everyone I know not to go. Definitely not worth the money, even on a discount day for 21.00 tickets. Not work 84.00 to ride through the lights. Oh, yes, to even feel more like we got scammed, groupon had offer for discounted tickets and was suppose to start on 11/20 but it says it is not valid. The lights were okay..if the year was 1985... The ride was frustrating especially in 35 degree weather in open trollies. The Lady driving took the wrong turn and our Trolly was forced to go around a second time. Total time of 1 hour and 45 minutes. Babies were crying , kids had to use restroom. Half the people were on their phones trying to catch Pokémons. It was torture...Complete disaster. I would've demanded our money back but all we could think about is seeking warmth in our cars and finding food that was cheaper than $8 per item. I will say though the staff were kind and friendly. Unfortunately I will not be coming back. Save your money... even the lights at botanical gardens was better than this. read more

I am a local and have been going to Fantasy in Lights for years.  My family and I drove up yesterday for our 7:30-8:30 drive through time.  We were stuck in massive traffic on Highway 354 at the intersection of 354 and 27 for over an hour.  This has never happened before in the 20 plus years I have been going.  There was not an accident.  There was a huge traffic bottleneck from the entrance to Fantasy in Lights.  Callaway Gardens needs to have police there and at the entrance of Fantasy in Lights to direct traffic.  By the time we got into the property our window to go had passed.  When we got into the property, there was a sign that said expect a 30-45 minute wait to drive through Fantasy in Lights and this was AFTER we had already waited an hour to get in there.  It is not worth wasting 2 hours of your life before you even see 1 light display.  I called Callaway Gardens to discuss it with them and was transferred over and over and then cut off.  I was also sent to a voicemail that had a halloween event message on it.  I finally left 2 voicemails with 2 different people and I never heard back. I know that when you buy Fantasy in Lights tickets they are non refundable.  However, Callaway Gardens failed to hold up their end of the bargain.  What's the point of having a scheduled drive through time if you're not going to even remotely honor it?  I was told by a coworker that it was disorganized this year and that was an understatement.    I should have listened to her.  If getting road rage to try and go see a bunch of lights is your idea of a Christmas tradition, then buy tickets and go and see it.  Just make sure to block off probably 6 hours of your life to waste. IT IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY OR STRESS.  Thank goodness I live close by.  If I had driven from another city, I would have been even angrier and more disappointed. read more

VERY ANGRY bought tickets for 8 to 830 when I got there about a 7:45 I was told to get in I had to go all the way around the park to the other side because they wouldn't let me in that way and then when I got to the huge line and I was told I have to wait at least an hour to get in and I had little kids in the car with me that had to go to school on Monday morning so I didn't even get to use my ticket that I bought a head of time ( which was mandatory). to get in at 830 was forced to turn around and go home without using my $20.00 ticket. I'm just saying...how you gone have a Fantasy in lights show with NO Lights!!!!!!! Fantasy is exactly what this is because, me and my family was sitting in the car fantasizing about there being more lights. This was a big rip off. 8 million lights.....yeah right. And why are there no recently comments about this? Am I the only person who thought this sucked? My husband and I drove all the way from Montgomery, AL for this and we were truly dissatisfied. For the amount of money this cost you would think there would be lights the moment you drive up. There were too many dark spaces back up in those woods. I mean we almost drove a mile before we actually started seeing lights and my husband almost veered off the rode because it was too dark in some parts and you really can't see anything. If anyone is reading this, please do not waste your time, it is not worth the drive or money. read more

I went for it last evening and frankly it's a oh well kinda experience. I do not mind cheesy Christmas parades and have had my fair share of them at theme parks and I have liked almost all of them but not this one. Unless you are here with little kids who are in superty duper Christmas spirit, feel free to give it a miss. Also I like my Christmas parades to be a bit more secular and this one has an ongoing tone of being religious which is oh so very South Georgia and well somewhat off putting. You know what, people are really bashing this experience but I think it's a bit of know what you're getting involved in. First off, we used a groupon that significantly reduced the cost, I recommend looking for deals. Secondly, it is definitely more of a kid show. We have a 4 and 2 year old and they loved it. However, it was meh for me as an adult but I wasn't there for me. If you want something more spectacular, then find it, but for kids? This is pretty good. read more

There were a handful of very beautifully designed features. That is the only reason I'm giving 2 instead of 1 star. none of them were worth the price. It should be a cost per vehicle of 20 dollars rather than per person. Make sure to bring a few road beverages or snacks it takes a solid 1.5 hours. Which is also ridiculous. read more

shopping was dismal this past year with very few local vendors due to space rental prices. Lights are nice but nothing special after the third or fourth visit. And they didn't have the beloved smoked turkey legs in the trailer that originally was there. read more

Like the other posters said, this is fun, but one of those one and done experiences. I went with a groupon, and I'm glad I did because the 20+ pricetag per ticket is a bit steep for such a show. While it did boost my christmas spirit, I felt that the entire show was a bit cheesy and underwhelming. I enjoy lights and events like this, but I felt like the show was not nearly as great as advertised. It had some cool parts, like the tree on the lake, but otherwise it was just meh. Note for anyone riding the trolly...dress very warm. I can't speak for those who went in a car but the experience in the trolly was pretty good, just darn cold. As for those thinking of shopping in the christmas village, don't expect more than holiday candy and ornaments, overpriced as you may expect. Drinks and food are available there as well and were a bit pricey, so bring your own to save a bit. Overall, I was an alright experience and I'm glad to have seen it once, but I wouldnt go back. read more

Extremely disappointed. Will not go again. The lights were a huge disappointment because there are many long gaps between the vignettes.It is supposed to be about one hour. It was much less. The last 10 minutes or more was in darkness with no Christmas lights at all. That is not to say the lights we saw weren't pretty, they were but it was not nearly worth the money or time it took to get there. The trolley ride wasn't much fun. Because we were there at a busy time, they packed folks on the trolley a little too tight to be able to enjoy the experience. The walk to the trolley was miserable. It was raining which had created puddles along the walk to the trolley. The puddles were more than ankle deep. The only way around the puddle was through mud. I feel like they could have prepared better by laying plywood over the deep puddles. There was also no lighting on the walk up to the trolley. It was a miserable and stressful walk for us and even more so for people with strollers and using walkers. Don't waste your money on the vendor foods. Highly overpriced and not good at all. We paid $37 for 2 sandwiches with chips and drinks. Had we known before we went it would be like that, we would have eaten first. We planned to get there early enough to eat and enjoy the shopping etc as part of the experience. The entire experience was disappointing. read more

Fantasy In Lights & Fireworks on New Year's Eve....HORRIBLE! The light display is not very good at all. A lot of broken lights. Long sections of blank, dark, areas with no lights. I cost $20 per person to get into the Fireworks display. Our wristband that was supposed to get us into all of the events, but there was nothing to do!!! We paid $20 to stand around in the cold for hours in a bad food court with overpriced crappy fair food waiting for a count down to midnight & fireworks display; Everything was disorganized! The count down never happened! The fireworks were terrible! They shot them off too low to the ground & they only lasted about 3 minutes! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME GOING TO THE NEW YEAR'S EVE EVENT! Staying home watching the ball drop is way more fun! read more

Not at all worth the drive or the price of the tickets. The light displays are too spaced out with lots of dark ride patches. The displays themselves aren't fancy at all, look dated, and honestly need some maintenance as quite a few had broken strings in them. Our party of 4 was thoroughly disappointed and that includes my just about 2 year old toddler. He did not show any excitement and this is a guy who loves even the chandeliers at home. The Trolley has uncomfortable seats. We were spared the wait time though as we booked the first slot and were able to leave within 10 minutes or so of sitting in the trolley car. Upon return, we did see really long lines and felt really bad for the people waiting in the lines as in my opinion the wait was really to get disappointed. I did not see anyone else in my trolley car express any excitement either. We won't return to visit this show again. Haven't visited the garden itself, so this review isn't about the garden. read more

Just went tonight and definitely not worth a 5 hr drive. Or 65$ for tickets since it was prime night. After reading all about it we were expecting a lot more but nothing too great. Not sure why it was named one of the top 10 places to see holiday lights. If you're debating on going and live more than a couple hours away then don't go and waste your money. read more

Very pricey compared to others of it's kind. But, most important advice I could give is beware of trolley ride. Rather, beware of other guests using flash photography nonstop, making it near impossible to see and/or enjoy the lights due to the reflection of the flashes bouncing off of the Plexiglas. There is a small mention of 'no-flash photography' that is barely audible at the beginning of the ride. What is most frustrating is clearly these folks don't understand photography... it's pointless to use a point and shoot camera, with flash, on a light show at night. 99% of those photos will not turn out. But 100% of the other passengers on the trolley wasted money and time as a result. read more

If you get the Groupon, it's definitely worth seeing once. The Groupon reduced the price by 7 dollars per person. The light displays are set up with story telling and Christmas music, such as the 12 days of Christmas, coming from what I can only guess is speakers amongst the trees. The Snowflake Valley scene would be magical to kids, and for adults who are young at heart, who never got to experience such light displays as a kid. The only other Christmas light display I've ever seen was the one at Stone Mountain, GA (which was disappointing). Callaway Gardens Fantasy in Lights was by far better than Stone Mountain Christmas light display. I'd recommend taking your own car rather than the Jolly Trolley. I wonder if they'd let one tour via bicycle than car. read more

So, we drove from the airport area excited to see the amazing display of lights and boy were we disappointed! First, they lined the cars up in rows of ten and we waited a near hour before entering - even though the same four rows were full as In the beginning. Then we drove through a 2-3 mile sea of darkness all while we wondered where were the lights. When we finally reached the lights there were segments of lights followed by dead space, segments followed by dead space and repeat. It seemed like a waste of space - why not fill the trees? There was one tree that was wrapped in lights beautifully and even my kid said, "why didn't they wrap more trees"? Of course we made the best of it by pointing out random owls, frogs and short holiday displays but we left disappointed and wanting more. read more

The details and experience here really matter. The lights are flawless, creative, and plentiful. The service, hospitality, and forethought are even better.
