This is one of the best spots in San Diego to practice open air-donation based yoga. I have been going now and then when a friend from out of town invites me to tag along (otherwise I am too lazy to go there just for the yoga). However, once you go, it is just such a wonderful feeling, the breeze, the vibe, the people, the grassy area, the sound of the sea waves. Amazing view. Kind of difficult to find parking in the streets nearby but once you find one, it is just so pleasant to spend the time there doing yoga or doing nothing. read more

There is ample grassy space and a few benches to enjoy the views. It's also walkable from restaurants in Pacific Beach. There are restrooms and the space is dog friendly. read more

I love the small parks that dot the San Diego coastline from Pacific Beach to Solana Beach. The grassy plain of Palisades Park is my favorite in Pacific Beach. It's quiet and peaceful, especially in the early morning. Bring a chair and relax watching the Pacific Ocean below the cliffs. Want to head down to the beach below? What a great find! Grabbed a pizza and walked over to this dog friendly beach with great people watching. If you want to sit on the grassy areas, you will need a blanket since there are lots of dogs and you don't want to sit on a leftover surprise. The cliff area is clean and well maintained with plenty of benches to see the wide beach and the pier in the distance. I am sure you can walk for miles on the paved walk. Ocean Beach is one of my least favorite places in San Diego -- the energy is overwhelming. But the nearby Palisades Park turns out to be among my favorites. Stepping upon the park, you find an expansive, grassy bluff where you can sit and enjoy the ocean views and sounds. You can also take the paved path down to the ocean, or choose any number of meandering dirt/sand trails down to the water. The trails are lovely -- full of beautiful vegetation. Meandering around the park is the Coast Walk, which is popular among bikers, joggers and folks walking. Great place to bring your pup for a stroll. Because of the views and the excellent grassy area, it is common to see people out doing their yoga and stretches. It's also a haven for picnics. read more

SUNSETS AND HEART-TO-HEARTS ... and stinky bundles of seaweed with 100s of flies on it. I love sitting at the beach and having deep conversations. Something about the atmosphere seems open and peaceful at the same time. Didn't need to be in a bikini, still too cold for that, but it's nice to be the the still, then laugh out loud, then be serious. The ocean brings me clarity and calmness. My absolute favorite place in PB. I used to live down the street (spoiled) so I would have my ritual Saturday morning coffee & book here. Grassy cliffs with sweeping views of the Pacific in a secluded North PB neighborhood & plenty of street parking. Technically you can't have your dog on the boardwalk or beach during certain hrs, but this is a park so your pooch can enjoy! There isn't room for a huge party, but this is definitely a chill spot to relax/tan/read/do push-ups/picnic/whatever your heart desires. On weekends between 10-1130am there is a MASSIVE yoga class (led by the amazing Namasteve from Spirit Yoga!) so unless you want to join in, the small park will be a bit overcrowded! read more

Have family who lives right here on Law St. and it's a great place to stay. The views are spectacular, whether it is of the ocean, wildlife, surfers, sunsets, or various people passing through. Yoga on Sundays draws in hundreds of people, and there's even a local pot belly pig who is sometimes seen grazing around. Quick access to the beach and the PB boardwalk. Definitely a great place to stop by and relax. read more

This is one of my favorite spots in the whole city. It's like going to the beach but not getting sandy! The view is amazing so sit for a spell on one of the benches or on the ground. Not going to lie- before you sit you should check for dog poop first because people like bringing their dogs here too. Most people here are surfers heading down to the beach or chicks doing yoga. Bring some food and a blanket so you can enjoy an ocean view picnic. It won't be terribly romantic since it's definitely not private but it's certainly Instagram worthy. The Baked Bear isn't too far and ice cream sandwiches with ocean views are the best! It's PB so parking can get a little crazy certain times (weekends, holidays, summer), but most weekday mornings it'll be alright and it's worth the walk here if you need to park elsewhere. There are pathways/stairs down to the sand if you're so inclined, but you've got everything you need up top for some nice relaxation with a 2 million dollar view. read more

Tonight I took a walk in the dark. To a place called Palisades Park. To have some fun, to see what I could see. That's where the girls are; I took a ride on the shoopty shoop, the girl I sat with almost puked. And when it stopped, she was holding hands with me. My arms were flying up, like a rocket ship down, like a roller coaster fast, like a loopty loop then around, like a merry-go-round. We even ate at a hot dog stand. Slam danced to a rockin' band. And when she winked, I gave that girl a hug in the tunnel of love. You'll never know how good it just can feel, 'til it stops at the top of the ferris wheel. This is such a beautiful park, with a beautiful cliff side view of the ocean. Most folks that make use of this beach are surfers and yoga practitioners. As for me, I typically do my warm-ups here, before I start my scenic run. For you running folks, if you start off at Palisades Park, a run straight down to the end of the Ocean Front Walk and back is a 10k. If you are training for a longer run, you can loop around Mission Point Park, go up Bayside Walk, around Sail Bay, to Crown Point and back, for a flat and easy 16 mile run. Okay, maybe not so easy for some folks. But, it is almost entirely flat. It works great when you're training for a marathon. Lots of other runners around, doing the same thing. You'll be in good company. There are bathrooms that are cleaned out every morning, though I did wish the janitor didn't use the hose to spray down the toilet paper. Lots of parking around the neighborhood, if you're there early enough. Whether you're looking to enjoy the view, the surf, find your inner yogi or simply run, Palisades is a great park to go to. read more

Great little grass area at the North Point of Pacific Beach board walk. Amazing views overlooking the ocean and south to the pier. Bring a blanket and a picnic lunch. There is donation-based yoga here Saturday and Sundays at 10 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 AM. It can get packed on Yoga times. There are restrooms near by which is a plus. read more

I love to go here to get out of the house and just chill with my dog. And if I'm not surfing, this is like my next favorite place to be, on a blanket on the grass watching surfers. It's so chill. It's a place to catch the sunset. I only wish dogs were allowed all the time. Saturday and Sunday mornings there is a group that meets here for free yoga. What a great start to your weekend! This place is such a great park to just sit and talk. My boyfriend works all day, and most places are closed by the time he is ready to go out. We always go to Palisades just to talk, enjoy the view, and relax. The benches are set beautifully on the cliff to view the waves at night. No cops come by super late either, so you don't get kicked out just for staying late. Walking along the beach at night is so relaxing. I came here for the donation-based yoga on a Saturday. It was so great! I have never done more than an hour of yoga so this was a bit of a challenge for me. I was surprised that 50 minutes in we were just finishing the warm-up, then came the hard stuff, and then the relaxation. I will say that despite it being so long I felt so good for the rest of the day and that made it well worth it. By 10am it was already hot and even though I thought I put on enough sunscreen I missed a few spots on my back and got burned. The really nice thing about doing yoga at this park is that you get an ocean view while you are practicing and a nice breeze every once in a while. There are no mics but I had no problem hearing the instructor. I would say that there were probably one hundred people there. The instructor lives across the street and he sets up a box outside his porch where people can leave money as it is all donation-based. My tips for you are: 1. Get there early so you can snag a parking space and so you can get a prime spot on the lawn that overlooks the ocean. 2. Apply sunscreen! Make sure you cover all areas that are exposed. You will get burned if you don't! 3. Bring your own yoga mat and towel to wipe away all the sweat. You will sweat, trust me. 4. Bring water, the colder it is the better. The sun will warm it up while you are practicing and it isn't as refreshing that way. You will definitely want to hydrate in between sequences. 5. Have an open mind and be present. The setting for a perfect morning yoga session. Along with about 100 other yogis I enjoy my morning yoga here cause of the view. It's somewhat hidden away which is good, but as with most places by the ocean, parking is a bit of a pain. I highly recommend this place if you're with your honey and want to have a picnic or read a book. I do not recommend this place for activities like throwing a frisbee, seeing that it's perched at the top of a cliff and the grassy area is not wide enough for things like that. read more
