The Fareway Meat Market is like stepping into the butcher shops you hear about in books and see in movies. Yes, it's a little more modern than that, but there are rows upon rows of different cuts of meat, and a real life butcher behind the counter ready to assist you. They even package your meat selections in white paper, all fancy! You definitely have to be a meat lover to enjoy coming here because that's 80% of what they have. Is it the cheapest place you can get meat? Absolutely not. But the quality and selection of meats and the incredible service make up for that. They do also, however, have a few other things like cheeses, crackers, spices, and other accouterments you may need. Checked out Fareway Meats for the first time this weekend. Can't believe it took me so long to get over here. They have all cuts of meat and a great variety of seafood. Besides Whole Foods, I feel like there aren't many other places to buy good seafood in Omaha. I never would have thought Fareway Meats would have it. They sell all kids of meats, cheeses and alcohol. This grocer has excellent meat but poor poor customer service. My last visit my daughter and I were racially profiled and ignored due to color of our skin. The incident was reported, however instead of a sincere apology by management I was told about the difficulties in the racial employees life, why? It doesn't excuse his behavior. After 5 years I will no longer patronize this establishment. I will take my business where I am celebrated and not tolerated. Great meat selection and excellent customer service at Fareway Meat Market! I went in for 8 steaks for my first fully vaccinated dinner party. I got 4 bone-in ribeyes and 4 filet mignon, cut right from the tenderloin as I stood there. I just told the butcher that I wanted 4, 6-ounce filets from the primal and there he went! When I got the steaks home I unwrapped the butcher paper packages and found 8 beautiful steaks. We grilled them on a charcoal grill and just used salt and pepper, seriously wonderful flavor and great quality, even for choice grade. I wasn't sure if I should make the splurge for prime but there was no need in this case, the meat tasted fantastic. The ribeye cap, which is my favorite part of the ribeye, was quite generous on these bone-in ribeyes, which made me quite happy! The filets were tender and well-marbled. Very happy with my first personal experience with Fareway meat market, and despite the 20+ minute drive I will be back! read more

I've used Fareway grocery stores especially the meat counter on and off for 5 years. This was my first visit to this location. It's an old school butcher shop, a section for wine and spirits and a check out counter. The guy who helped me was friendly and answered a couple questions quickly and in depth. The chuck roast was excellent in the crackpot for 8 hours on low. Their meat is the best I've found. The only downside was I wanted information on beef bundles. He said the don't offer bundles ATM because of market volatility. That was the only downside. read more

Finally made time to stop at the Fareway Meat Market conveniently located at the northeast corner of 90th & Center and so glad I did. It was a little smaller than I expected but the focus is on the ginormous meat counter and selection. They had all manner of cuts and selection from seafood, chicken, pork, steaks, etc. I was looking for things to make quick and delicious easy weeknight meals and scored big with the ready to cook steak fajita mix, chicken fajita, chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken. I noticed they also had pulled pork, enchiladas, and some huge looking steak kabobs that looked bigger and fresher than Hy-Vee. The prices were on par as well. Hoping to make this at least a bi-weekly stop when meal planning. They had a nice selection of cheeses, BBQ sauce, salad dressing, condiments, salads, wine, sushi and basic staples to go along with your main course. read more

I received terrible service. I've been getting a standing rib roast for several years for our family Christmas dinner at this location (not on Christmas day). I called days before to make sure they would have a Prime cut and was told it would be ready the day of our dinner. When I went to pick it up they brought out a Choice cut. I told the manager what I had ordered and they verified the order was for Prime. The manager came out and was unapologetic, opened the wrapping and said this what I've got for you, we ran out days ago. Of all the grocery stores in town, Fareway has the best meat consistently. Though this location is fairly new, I've shopped at various Fareways for 30 years. My parents and I used to own a small grocery store over in Iowa, so I know good stores when I see them. I also know the bad ones. There is a brand of grocers that I refuse to buy meat from. However, Fareway is the only place I feel has the quality, cleanliness, and consistency needed at every one of their locations. And they're affordable! For a "meat market", this store doesn't have quite the variety I was expecting. I've never been to a Fareway grocery store before, so this was my first time-(even though I realize this is not a full fledged store). It's brand spanking new and I was very impressed at how the store looked, how clean it was, and how helpful the staff was. At this meat market you'll find cases and cases of beautiful fresh meat and seafood (deli style nothing is prepackaged) wine, hard liquor, beer, and pop, limited produce as in things you might need to grill, and lots and lots of chips/crackers/fine cheeses. In short, it's the perfect place to go when you're about to grill and host or attend a party but all you need is meat, booze and appetizers/snacks! There are plenty of staff behind the counter ready to help you pick out the meat that you'd like. I definitely got suckered into buying a lot more than I thought I would just because they're such great salesmen + friendly and also the prices were quite low at the end of the day when they were closing shop. Got a great deal on ground beef for 1.99/lb that's very lean, and I also like cooking with boneless skinless chicken thighs which is never available to purchase behind the counter at your local grocery store deli. Everyone was super polite and I thought the customer service was excellent. I would actually make a special trip out here just to buy meat because I thought the quality, customer service, and prices were great. Can't wait to come back! read more

I also love how you are able to select the pieces you want. We're so fortunate to have this butcher across from Hy-Vee! When grabbing groceries, we just cross the street and there it is - a great meat market packed with great cuts. The meat counter is huge, and packed with all the cuts you expect. Want a different cut? Just ask. Chances are that there's meat awaiting the butcher's knife. They prepared pre-made combos, like bacon wrapped asparagus, stuffed chops and the like. Had 'em. Loved 'em. The wine selection is very reasonable. Some hard liquor as well. A deli section. Treats. You know how some folks like to buy shoes and purses? Well, that's sort of how I am when faced with a meat counter. Honestly, I didn't know what to expect other than a larger selection of meat products than what is normally offered at the Fareway stores. Well, they sure did deliver... Shiny, new and modern, the store is definitely geared toward animal proteins so you can get your deli meats, your steaks, your chicken bits and your seafood options. As is typical of Fareway stores, the butchers are friendly and ready to assist in an almost overwhelming fashion. Oh heck...everyone is ridiculously helpful at this store. Pound o' bacon for $3.99, yes. Ground Italian sausage for $1.99/lb, yes. Might as well throw in roasted chicken breast (yes, just the breasts without the whole chicken), jalapeno cheddar brats, a big filet o' cod, a steak or two, plus asparagus, bag o' salad and a bottle of wine (Freakshow at $18.99 is $1-2 less than what neighboring stores are selling it for). It pretty much took all of my self-restraint not to purchase more since I do have a side of beef in my freezer at the moment. It has the boutique store feel but with loads of meat options, a really decent selection of (adult) beverages, and just enough of those extras to throw together that last minute meal on a Friday night when you're on your way home from work and ready to grill but need some sides to go with it. I'm embarrassed to admit that I might even stop in just to grab a wedge o' cheese and bottle o' wine from time to time. Did I mention that meat selection? Yes...you will buy more than you need this week or month, but thankfully they'll wrap it up in smaller portions so you don't have to break it down once you get home. Wow! I totally felt like a kid in a candy store. Just walking in and seeing the endless meat case with butchers suited up in their sparkling white butcher coats and hats made me feel like I went back in time! So many different types of meat to choose from, and everyone that works there is friendly and very helpful. It's also great that they have things you can grab to complete your meal such as potatoes, onions, lettuce, deli salads, wine, marinates, bread, buns....you get the picture! The prices are just below what I would normally pay for Hy-Vee Prime meat out of their case, which I love. The fact that I can get in and out quickly versus a large grocery store is a plus as well. I have not yet cooked the ribeyes I purchased yet, but from the way they look and the reputation Fareway has for meats, I'm quite sure I won't be disappointed. May have found my new addiction!! Walking in I did not know what to expect from the name. I was overwhelmed with the size and length of store. walking in you start with the meat counter and selection right at the threshold of the doors. Sandwich slices and meats are the first you are presented with, the other portion of that section being the potato salads and macaroni salads and such. Olive loaf, (capicola was there once, but havent seen again ??) and a nice variety of hams and turkey/chickens. After that you move into bacon with prepared griller items. chicken breasts. wrapped asparagus, potatoes etc. Further on are the meats nice selection with some choice and awesome prime rated! The seafood is at the end. nice great quality looking seafood but $$$ I was told was flown in next day fresh so understand the price $29lb for grouper. I will grab some at some point and update. Be prepared for every step you take someone behind the counter to ask if you need assistance. They are there and ready to help. Then continuing on is a wonderful cheese and liquor's selection. I will return next week for some cheese's and dive deeper into what they offer. from glancing by walking to the registers I am impressed. read more

This place is great. My dad is excellent at smoking meats and he always gets his meat from fareway. When I heard they were opening a meat market I was immediately intrigued. It is just as it sounds - a massive meat counter with some limited deli meat offerings and some fish. They also offer some artisanal cheeses, liquor and minimal produce. Plan your shopping ahead as they are closed on Sunday but this place is worth a visit, no matter where you are in Omaha. read more

If you need meat, this meat market has you covered. There might only be a couple spots in Omaha comparable or arguably better, all of which are very old school and locally-owned. While Fareway is part of a bigger chain, they still operate like an old fashioned meat counter. This store in particular is great for grabbing a few things for the grill or a special meal. Add in great customer service plus enough grocery supplies for most any occasion, and this spot is hard to beat. Fareway meat market is located on the corner of 90th and center. I always am greeted almost immediately when I walk in. The staff is attentive and helpful always. They have a nice selection of meat and will cut your steaks to your liking. They also have some nice wines to choose from there. The fish selections are lacking though. Usually they only have salmon and maybe so crab cakes. Once in awhile some other kind of fish. Fareway has some good cheeses to choose from and a tiny bit of produce. This place is heaven. Stopped in today with my dad to grab a beef brisket, walked out with a lot more than we needed! They have an extremely large selection of butchered meats, cheeses, alcohol and so much more. I could have spent an hour in here looking around. I am in love with this place. One of the best parts of the regular Fareway locations is the meat counter. Good fresh meat with knowledgable butchers. Fareway's Meat Market turns it up a notch focusing solely on this area and adding in more cheese and seafood. The rest of their selection focuses mainly on liquor/wine/beer and sparse grocery items like 1/2 dozen eggs and seasonings for meat. My love affair with the full service and stellar quality of Fareway meats goes back to at least 1986. When I heard about a Fareway that was exclusively meat I was intrigued! My visit to this new concept in Fareway Stores last Saturday in Omaha only reinforced my loyalty to the brand. Clean, service oriented, and the finest, freshest meats around. What's not to love? I was eyeing this place from the Dunkin Donuts window. It looked so cool it got my curiosity up even though I couldn't buy any meat.This place is awesome. I went to the counter and just browsing turned into a conversation with Scott, who I bet has been working here awhile. It's not only the meat that'll get you here, but ALL the extras. Browsing at the sauces they had bbq sauce in the honey bear bottles. Then I spot little bottles of booze. I picked up a tiny whiskey for when I make bread pudding and don't need a pint. I wander over to the cheeses and packaged meats and some guy is trying to get me to convince his kid to expand his palate and try liverwurst. I think I saved some kid's life when I said don't do it with that stuff. They don't carry tavern loaf from back in the day but they do have thuringer for the golden oldies. On the way out I spot my favorite pretzels in the world. DOTS and a pound of them, I'm munching on in my classy hotel. They have everything for picnics and barbeques including bread and buns, and not junk. This is a fond memory and a stop every time I'm in Omaha. read more
