We wound up here for takeout while driving Center Street complaining that we didn't know where to pick up lunch We looked up, saw Wayne's on approach and knew the BBQ Gods were calling to us. We ordered the Carolina Pork (topped this coleslaw) sandwich and the brisket sandwich. I think it's important to note that we are in KC style territory, so a North Carolina native might not give the pork five stars but I think a Midwesterner would appreciate it. The brisket was tender and flavorful. The sides were mighty! The potato salad was ranked a "must order" and described as "church picnic" quality, due to the high ratio of eggs and mustard. We tried the fried cabbage with bacon; if you enjoy greens I felt like this was a cabbage variant and quite tasty. We have vowed to return to try the sandwich that comes topped with hot links!! I also want to try the ribs, the smokers outside looked rib-ready. Combos consist of a sandwich, side and can of pop and if you order to go things are wrapped up in a fashion that's guaranteed to not tip over. The pulled pork was mediocre, nothing too special. The real winner here were the ribs! The ribs were fall of the bone soft and super juicy! If I'm back in town I'd definitely go back for those ribs! read more

They do call ahead orders and they have a drive up window for your convenience. There's a few tables and chairs inside if you want to sit there and eat. Had weeknight dinner with my family and we decided on Wayne's NSBBQ based on a friend's recommendation. We ordered at the counter and had a seat. Wayne's has a small dining area, but is comfortable. It seems like a perfect "take out" joint, to me. We had ribs, brisket, and sliced beef links with fried cabbage and bacon, baked beans, potato salad, and French fries as sides. We found this place with a "BBQ near me" search and don't know that we would have ever know about it otherwise. This is a small place, though you can dine in. We got ours to go and enjoyed a chopped up hot link on the way home. The baked beans had ground beef and a nice tangy flavor and fries were seasoned well. I LOVE dirty rice but their rice was not as flavorful as e rest of the food. 4/5 stars for that and the price seemed a bit high. We stopped by Wayne's New Skoo BBQ for lunch today after reading prior reviews. The place is small with a few indoor and outdoor tables. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of baked beans and a side of cabbage. The brisket was chopped into cubes and piled high onto the bun. The brisket was very flavorful and moist. The beans were sweet, but for me, the cabbage was fantastic and the highlight of my lunch. Very well seasoned and with bacon added. My husband had the fried catfish and said that it was tasty. I decided to get dinner here after driving by the building numerous times with smoke rolling out of the smoker out front. If I'm honest what actually caught my eye was on the sign they said they had catfish, and I LOVE me some good catfish. Anyhow, spot is small, 4 tables inside, 2 outside, walk up take-out/drive-through window, a nice little hole in the wall to grab a bite at in the little strip mall with the tobacco hut. I ordered the catfish sandwich, and a "Hot Boy" sandwich. If you're like myself and unknowing as to what a hot boy is, its a pulled pork sandwich with spicy sausage in it, and damn is it delicious. That means they might run out on a busy day (any place that never runs out, I'd never trust). The meat is moist, smoky, and a little salty. Wow!! This place has wonderful tasting ribs cooked just right, and the side dishes are very good too! The fried cabbage is the best cooked cabbage dish I've ever had in my life and I'm probably older than you! Never in my life have I felt so compelled to write a review of a local restaurant. Wayne is the REAL DEAL. I ordered a half rack of baby back with the sauce on the side. Truth be told, I did not like the sauce, but order them with sauce on the side and lather those bad boys up with whatever sauce you prefer. These ribs taste like good ol fashioned home cook barbeque. The pulled pork was very tender and juicy. Had a good hint of smokiness, maybe could have used a bit more and would really like to see some bark in it but there wasn't. It still was very good! The ribs were not fall off the bone but pulled off very easily. Juicy and a great smoky flavor. Really good baby backs! The cornbread was in between the old fashioned gritty corn bread (which I love) and cake like and it also was good. I love that they don't put BBQ sauce on the meat. Super tasty! Went to Wayne's for the first time today and it was great. Had the Carolina pulled pork sandwich and the pork was delicious with great BBQ flavor and very moist. For the sides I had the beans and potato salad. I don't like most bbq beans but these were my favorite. Wayne loads them up with meat so they're pretty thick and I liked that. Was craving some BBQ so I swung by Wayne's. Ordered the family meal, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. The brisket was smoky and tender, the ribs fell off the bone and were also rich in that smokiness. I would definitely eat the chicken and catfish again too, as both were excellent. Steakhouse fries can be hit or miss, but these were well seasoned and crispy with a soft pillowy center. BBQ sauce can make or break a meal, and Wayne's definitely elevated it! We've been to Memphis, Austin, Kansas City and St. Louis and ordered bbq in all those cities. Wayne's BBQ was incredible, and reminded me of a mix of Austin and Memphis, but way better.
