What an absolutely lovely brunch experience! The setting and decor is quaint and cozy but with some hip and approachable vibes going on. The menu is small and specific, which I appreciate, as to me it indicated that each dish was carefully selected and crafted. We ordered some appetizers to share - the Avocado Bake - which was so fun and very instagram worthy, and the Fried Green Tomatoes - which were in this amazing pink sauce. I had the harvest bowl for my main course and it was hearty and fresh - perfectly balanced in flavor! Our party of 3 had a reservation for 12:45 (4/15) but they told us they were cleaning the table and it would be available soon. A party of 4 reservation came in right after us and were seated immediately while we had to wait about 20 minutes. I don't know what time theirs was, though. After we were seated and ordered, we finally got our food around 1:40 I think. We were basically the last ones outside besides a large party of bikers(?) finishing up. Pork belly biscuit sliders (3 for $14): 3/5. Good flavor, pork was well-cooked and seasoned but slider overall was dry. Also kinda overpriced for 3 small slices of pork belly and 3 biscuits. Low Country Bowl ($17): 5/5. I got it with hash browns instead of home fries, and it had a generous amount of tender crab and shrimp. The potatoes and vegetables made made it pretty filling and flavorful. My plate was also kinda dirty however, but hopefully that's just from when they were placing the food there lol. I tried my friend's pancakes ($13) and they were solid. Pretty fluffy and flavorful, though we had the house syrup because maple syrup is a $2 surcharge. Their hot sauce is also super good, but really strong. My other friend liked the mostly dark meat chicken and waffles ($17). Other Biscuits can be dry and sometimes underwhelming; not these. They were perfect and warm. The dipping sauces were awesome with the table favorite being the mango preserves. This place is so cute! I'm sad to say the food, however was not that good. We came here for brunch on a Saturday, they were a little busy. We ordered the crab beignets to start, sadly it lacked any crab... mostly breading. It wasn't bad, I just wish it had more lump crab meat. Then I ordered the come and get it platter which came with two small sausage patties, and home fries which were just okay. It was nicely seasoned but didn't taste fresh. My bf and BFF ordered the low country hash, and both were disappointed. It also lacked any crab meat or shrimp, and the potatoes were just okay. My BFF's bf ordered the steak bowl and although it had a decent amount of steak, it was not seasoned. It came with the "okay" potatoes. I guess the potatoes are really hit or miss as they seem to be switched up. Lastly, which was probably the most disappointing of all is the carafe mix up. We ordered a regular mimosa carafe, and then I ordered the peach Bellini carafe, but they gave us the same regular mimosa carafe. We said something to the waitress but she was even surprised herself and couldn't tell the difference. At this point, we were ready to go, so we drank and left. Farm Bell Kitchen was an incredibly charming spot in Charlottesville. We visited for brunch on a Saturday morning near Christmas time without a reservation and were seated immediately. Its definitely an interesting restaurant thats more like a small house that was converted into a restaurant. I was led to the back near the kitchen. I ordered the avocado egg baked, half order of panacakes, and some orange juice. The avocado egg baked was alright. I think there wasn't much flavor to it and the avocado was just baked as a whole. The pancakes were really good on the other hand. It was really soft and moist. And it wasn't too sweet. The orange juice was super sour but it had a bit of pulp which is what I liked. Overall, the service was great! The food was alright, it didn't really hit the spot for me. And the price was alright. I'm visiting my son in college and we like to have a nice brunch but it's always busy in the area and few sit down places since COVID. We looked at Yelp and decided on Farm Bell Kitchen. When we walked in they said it would be an hour wait for the three of us. We had time so agreed and decided to walk down to a juice shop to wait. We had walked about 5 minutes when I got a text that our table was ready! Yahoo! We ordered coffee which was delicious. We had the scones which were tender and not too sweet. We ordered the brisket breakfast, the banana French toast and a pancake and biscuits and jelly. The eggs were perfectly scrambled. The black eyed peas were so good and the brisket flavorful. The biscuits were flaky and soft and the pancake was slightly crispy outside but soft and fluffy inside. Brandon was our waiter and he was very nice. He was patient and the food came out quickly. First - let me just say that this is one of my favorite restaurants when my husband has an appointment at UVA. It's just a short walk from the hospital and they have great breakfast (food 4-5 stars). However, today I decided to go there by myself at around 10 am as my husband was having a short procedure done. When I got there they asked if I had reservations and I said no and well - I'm not sure if it was because I was a "one top" or maybe it was my purple pink hair but I was told that I needed to sit back in the corner of the coffee area (behind the table where staff was folding napkins) due to the fact they had no open tables for me in the dining area. As I ordered my breakfast about 5 minutes later, a couple came in and got seated in the dining room with no reservations - and then another couple did shortly thereafter (also no reservations). My sever was fine, my food was fine, but honestly- I felt like I was a "throw away" customer (no server wants a one top due to the tip percentage on the final bill - I get it - I was once a server - but I don't expect that here). I spent over $30 there for my meal and after today, not sure I will ever go back. I usually don't write reviews- but this experience was not what I was expecting and I certainly don't want to ever feel like I did when I left the restaurant today read more

If you wake up hungry as hell on the weekend, here's your next go-to place! This restaurant is a bit pricey, but they do not disappoint. Their fried chicken and waffles was a hefty plate, coming with three whole pieces of chicken (drum legs, thigh) and two cups of sweet honey. Yum! I also got a side of sausage, afraid they would skimp on the chicken, but to my happy surprise, nope. Not to mention, their fried chicken is the most crispy and delicious fried chicken a I've ever eaten. The skin falls right off the tender meat. We also ordered the avocado bake, which had a very small portion (sad face), which was a large surprise compared to the fried chicken and waffles. After hearing great things about Farm Bell Kitchen and making a reservation way in advance for this past weekend, I have to say I don't get what the hype is about. We were very disappointed with our meals. We ordered a southern benedict and fried chicken and waffles (our kids had waffles and pancakes - both were meh). A good portion of the egg white in the benedict was completely raw (translucent) and the chicken on the waffle was severely burned. Also, I found the hash in the benedict to be so over-salted as to be inedible. And the free waffle at our hotel looked much better than they ones they gave us at the restaurant. I love how this place is based in an old house now renovated to be a restaurant. Our waiter was so friendly and kept getting us coffee refills.
