I got the Bayou Hash and it wasn't terrible. I did not think it was a $17 meal since it tasted very plain. While we ate there for a prefix Easter brunch and everything may not have been normal, still...The service was excellent, my coffee and water were constantly attended too. The courses were came out with only a small wait. I had a Cajun jumbo for the first course and it was a simple but spicy and wonderful, I definitely would have enjoyed it for an entire meal. For my main course of the corn beef has and poached duck egg...awesome. I came here for Friday brunch and unfortunately they had a small menu because of graduation weekend. It was $30 for one entree and a drink which seemed a little pricey. The small adjusted menu had a ton of delish options to choose from. I ended up getting the steak bowl which our waitress recommended. It came with chunks of steak, mushrooms, onions, rice and a ton of flavors topped with an over-medium egg. It was super tasty and was a ton of food I had to bring home half of it. My friend also enjoyed their Nashville chicken and waffles. I tried a bit and it was very good and had a hot kick to it but not spicy at all. The deal also came with delicious cranberry scones. I typically don't enjoy scones but these were so fresh and went really well with their sweet butter and jam. Overall, delicious food and amazing service! Our waitress was so sweet and attentive. Also, our waitress got our tea kettles from the wooden cabinet on the corner of room which I thought was funny and pretty neat. read more

Farm Bell exceeded my expectations. I always walked by it and it seemed like it wouldn't offer much. Oh boy was I wrong. First of all, there is so much seating behind the building that you don't see in the front. I really liked our area because it was secluded and very spaced out from others. I never thought that I would like warm avocado but I fell in love with the Avocado Egg Bake. It is a well balanced meal with the various brunch items on the plate. It provided for a nutritious meal that left me satisfied and full. Also, the iced chai tea is sweet and refreshing. I loved it and they have a lot of options for non-dairy milk. They have a ton of outdoors seating both out front and behind the restaurant, which has come in clutch with open air dining during COVID! My brunch at Farm Bell was so relaxing! Chandler my waitress was kind and personable! I ordered the Nashville Hot Chicken Sandwich, which is sweet but has a kick with their house made chips which was seasoned with cajun/old bay-like seasoning. Really great breakfast experience at Farm Bell! Came here with a friend on Saturday morning and were seated outside in their beautiful back patio. The inside is also just as beautiful, and the restaurant has a great vibe no matter where you sit. We both ordered coffee (me a decaf mocha) and both very much enjoyed them. I liked that my mocha wasn't too strong flavor wise, and had a good balance of milk and coffee. Will say the foam wasn't the best but I'm not picky. For our meal we ordered the Banana Foster French Toast and Chicken and Waffles. The french toast was admittedly a bit dry on the inside, but the flavor and freshness of the rest was amazing. The banana sauce they use has a great flavor that isn't too overwhelming. The chicken was probably my favorite part of the meal; it was flavorful, tender, and just the right amount of crispy. The waffle was also flavorful and complimented the chicken perfectly. The service we received was great as well. An overall 5 star experience ! Will be back :) read more

I tried this place for the first time today and it was amazing!!! I got the chicken and waffles and a side of hash browns, which i got Togo. Parking is definitely horrible being that it is near the UVA strip, but rather easy seeing as I was doing Togo. Service was a little blah in the beginning, but I attributed that to them being busy. Now onto the food. I got 3 pieces of chicken (wing, leg, and thigh) which were perfectly seasoned and the right crispness. The waffle was cooked well. The hash browns were absolutely devine. Came by for Saturday brunch without a reservation. We were seated but the place quickly filled up - so I'd recommend calling ahead. The small front dining room is just part of the restaurant - there are two rooms in the back of the old, renovated house that also serve as restaurant seating. The whole place is impeccably decorated and we loved the ambiance and atmosphere. We received very kind service and ordered coffee and a some of the scones of the day - they were great. For entrees we particularly liked the avocado egg bake - their signature dish. Everyone was very happy with their food and overall it's a great choice for brunch in Charlottesville. Having lived in Savannah for years and also being very familiar with the cuisine of the south that they are trying to emulate, I think they've done a good job and hit the highlights. We were impressed to see hummingbird cake on the menu. On a separate occasion we also stopped by for coffee from the front counter and were also quite happy. It's great for both. read more

We were disappointed with the eggs Benedict in our pick up order today. We ordered extra Hollandaise which we didn't get. The sauce we did get was meager and lacked flavor. The bread was the worst--hard with a sourdough flavor. Did not look like an English muffin. And it was expensive. My daughter was visiting from Japan and wanted a good Eggs Benedict. We won't be going back to Farm Bell. What a let down from a place that has generally good reviews. read more

Gorgeous dog friendly brunch venue. We were able to make reservation the same day for a party of five. We ordered the crab beignets and the banana beignets as starters and the banana foster French toast, chicken and waffles, peaches & cream pancakes as our brunch meals; all was delicious! It's hard to find a brunch place that's classy and also good for kids and this place met all our family's expectations. Service was on point and the staff very friendly and attentive. I highly encourage y'all to try this place. Seemed like the best brunch place in town and it certainly didn't disappoint. Ladies, make sure you order the Bellini! I was visiting UVa for the weekend and my friends took me here for brunch. The inside is so cute but seating took a while and service definitely could have been better. Service was slow (probably because it was crowded) but good once we were attended to. Absolutely loved the menu! Definitely healthy and looked delicious as I looked at other people's food. I had the avocado egg bake and it was delicious. Not too filling, definitely had a lot of health benefits, and the presentation was awesome. Loved the bread, it was crunchy and not soggy even though it was on top of other things. The tomatoes were AMAZING, maybe because they were fresh? I definitely would come here again! They were booked for Sunday brunch but they were still able to squeeze us in. This place is so adorable very colonial chic. When entering there was a young hostess who asked us why we were there and then mid conversation walked away to talk to another guest before I could finish and then sat down to continue folding towels or something which was very very rude. I wonder if she was just the cafe staff or just helping. Then an older woman greeted us and told us to wait outside to be seated. She was a bit rude when telling us to step outside and wait but once she sat us down she was nice. From there on the service and food were good. I didn't like the "Game of Scones" but I loved my smoked salmon and almond milk latte. I will be returning again. read more

While visiting the Downtown C'ville area we sought out a place for brunch on Sunday and based on reviews and also the ability to make reservations, we chose Farm Bell Kitchen. First, it's awesome that they use OpenTable, wish more places, especially breakfast places would use online reservation systems, no place is worth waiting in line for. Second, this place would have easily been a 5 star, if we had decent service. Their menu is very unique and looked very appetizing, which made it difficult to choose what to eat! The restaurant is rustic and very nicely decorated. They offer fresh-squeezed OJ and a very unique Bloody Mary infused with horseradish. They also have a very nice menu of sausages which are all house made and include a very spicy (and amazing) andouille as well as a veggie sausage! The biscuit board was awesome, with freshly-made, warm biscuits with beautiful grill marks on them and VA ham and an assortment of incredible-tasting sauces, including house made mustard. Their scrambled eggs are amazing and creamy! Breakfast potatoes were incredible and the bacon is perfectly smoked and very tasty! The only issue was the service.... Our server was borderline horrible, as he acted like we were bothering him and he would quickly scurry away before we could ask for anything. He rarely checked on us and I don't think we ever saw him smile once. The runner bringing food out didn't know the menu and was also very unenthused to be there. We asked her what the sauces were on the biscuit board and she said she didn't know and walked away. We were a group of six and we couldn't believe the service we were receiving, but definitely enjoyed the food. As far as returning, we might, as maybe this was just a bad day for them.... Surely hope they correct or address the service issues though. read more

The service was ok, our waiter didn't seem to want to be there, it took a while for him to take our order. My food wasn't something to write home about, but I don't know how much you can dress up an avocado I would go back, but maybe for dinner and to order something more hearty. read more

There was an inconsistency in how different components were cooked. And some components lacked seasoning. We had to add salt and pepper to some components. I'm so baffled that this place is so well reviewed, especially in a city with such stellar breakfast options. I tried it twice for breakfast, once on a weekend and once on a weekday. On a Wednesday morning, a friend ordered the baked eggs in avocado and I got the breakfast wrap. The avocados came out with significant black and brown portions. At first I thought they blackened them under the broiler, and was prepared to be impressed. Nope. They were simply avocados long past their prime, dark and going bad. The kale in my wrap was raw, not dressed, blanched, or softened. Good morning chlorophyll. The cubed sweet potatoes inside the wrap had clearly been cooked in advance and refrigerated, because they were refrigerator-cold all the way through. Not at all impressed so far. When I returned on a Sunday morning, I ordered the Farm Bell Benedict, which was actually acceptable. A friend ordered the standard breakfast platter, and what arrived after exactly a 30 minute wait (yes, I timed it!) was a very sad excuse for a breakfast - overdone scrambled eggs, soft, bland breakfast potatoes without any browned or crispy bits, toast that had barely seen the toaster, and the tiniest sausage patties I have ever seen, one with its entire surface covered in black char. The whole thing was just haphazardly plated and looked so sad and forlorn that I almost laughed - I've had better looking food at a greasy spoon diner. The staff also seems downright odd. All the waitstaff I've interacted with seemed cold, shy, or scared. I'm not sure if management has told them to act 'professional' or if their silent movements and near silent voices are supposed to give an impression of a high-class establishment, but the overall impression is just odd. Please, servers, just be yourself! Anyway, Yelpers, there are absolutely killer breakfast places in Cville. This one should be a hard pass. read more

Cute brunch spot that I've been wanting to try for a while. The covered seating on the back porch was wonderful. Not sure if I'd go back though, as the food was lackluster. I got the low country hash which looked yummy but didn't have much flavor and there were pieces of crab shell left in the hash.
