They let us sample several things, that were all gourmet tasting. Mission BBQ is really only local place I have to compare it to. Overall, I thought the meat was better at Farm Boy - good quality, way less fatty, and good size portions (we had the smoked turkey and pulled pork meals). The sides were a bit of a toss up -- the collard greens were better at Farm Boy, but I prefer Mission's baked beans and mac & cheese (they were still good). Price is about the same. We did have a nice lunch - had the Hot Mess sweet potato. Very tasty. Ordered the sampler with two meats- pork and the sausage...good but never received the onion rings we ordered. The order area person could not articulate what we ordered to the person at the register- seemed like they were all confused. Maybe the reason we never got our food. It was tough to get my money back and realized they actually charged us for two orders of onion rings. Not a smooth transition . Tables were not wiped down and it was not real clean in there when we went to find a table. Only two other people in there at the time. We did go at an off time but they were not on target as far as the sales part of things. Taste was good. read more

Some days the cheesesteaks just find me. I was driving along hungry with limited places to go and sure enough right in front of me in a Sunoco parking lot was Farm Boy Fresh/BBQ. I got the brisket sandwich. The brisket was cooked/smoked for 13 hours. It was good but it wasn't $13 good. 13/13, interesting? I did notice the liscio boxes as I pulled up. It came on a round roll. They did put sauce on the roll but it kind of got lost in the sandwich. read more

TLDR: Great BBQ but disappointing po' boy I kept passing the smoker and Po' Boy banners at the Sunoco station and had to stop by at some point. I missed the prior kitchen operators (who were a diamond in the rough) but judging by the crowds, I figured the owner was picky in who he sublet his kitchen. I love BBQ and miss the Cajun restaurant near my office so I splurged on both a po' boy and some BBQ for later in the day. The popularity is evident by the lines right after opening and the fact that someone had already cleaned them out of their first batch of ribs. Meat is sold by the half pound (except for beef ribs, which are sold by the piece) or sandwich. The good: the brisket I ordered was moist (even though it didn't appear to have much fat on it) with very good flavor and a clear pink edge inside. The sauce has a good smoke hint, some tang, and a slight kick. The reason I knocked this down two stars was the po' boy. It was prepared inside the convenience store, so I could watch them. While everything was done fresh, they put ketchup on the sandwich in addition to mayo (that is definitely not a typical ingredient). The sandwich was huge but it definitely does not rise to Cajun standards. The shrimp had barely any Cajun seasoning on them (they tasted clearly like shrimp) and the bread was hardly toasted rather than crusty. Overall, I'd return, but I'd definitely stick to the BBQ in the parking lot and order ahead so I have what I want reserved. read more

I should have read LL's review before stopping here but my husband could not get past the smell of the bbq. So we stopped and paid $26 for a [small] 1/2 rack of ribs that were not really tender and had no smoke ring. First time checking this place out after my wife told me Three Crazy Ladies had called it a day. I'll *definitely* be back!!! Fried Chicken Sandwich was great, the thigh meat's the way to go for sure. You can put Chick-fil-A up the road on notice! Kimchee Fried Rice Burrito was an umami bomb. Has zero business being in a Sunoco, and I'm so happy it does! Chef fired everything to order so I waited about 8min or so before the order was ready. Thankfully there wasn't a line, so I think it was totally reasonable. $15.90 total damage for seriously good eats. Will have to come back to see what breakfast looks like. Happy that Paul Marshall and Wife have opened a full scale restaurant in the shopping center on route 29 just above Devault and next to Avola restaurant. Their brisket is just the best. It is so tasty and tender. Have not tried all of the vegetables but the green beans with bacon chunks is to die for. It's smoky and tender. The baked beans are also very good. I stopped by last week to give it a try and was not disappointed. I had the pulled pork plate with 2 sides and some cornbread. Excellent flavorful pork. That alone will make me go back. The bbq beans are OK. Not your typical bbq baked beans but more of a smoked bean. Reminded me of smoked pinto beans I had growing up in the south. This leads me to a surprise I had, the cornbread. This is not your typical BBQ joint sweet corncake type bread. This was a more dense real cornbread (not sweet at all). Not really meant to be eaten by itself but more with the beans and pork. Just like we used to have with our pinto beans. The collard greens were ok. I'd like a bit more tang and spice to them but they were nice and tender. And lastly I appreciate the addition of the slices of white bread. I don't know any places around that do that right but this place has obviously knows what they are doing. Only disappointing thing for me was the lack of freshly brewed iced tea. Only drink options are bottles. Maybe I'll swing by Chikfila for a tea first . I'll definitely be going back to try the other stuff but the one thing I am concerned about is the price seems a bit high for lunch. I hope it doesn't keep people from going back. Got an end of a brisket which was dry. Mac and cheese was in a puddle of grease. Extremely overpriced. Cornbread was very dry. When I walked in I stood in front of the order area and no one looked my way or said a word for an extended period. The woman behind the counter told me that I need to stand somewhere else to order any meat, and the specific area where she wanted me to stand was about two feet to my right. All of that said it looks pretty nice inside. It's a shame the food and service wasn't better. Not coming back and wouldn't recommend. read more
