I decided to leave a review because I'm just flat out frustrated that this is the only hardware store on this side of town besides Home Depot and they are closed on Sundays and close at 5 PM during the week. Rather than go to Home Depot I chose Farmer's because I want to support a local business. They have a great antique scale for ordering certain hardware by mass which I found amusing and easy to use. It's worth it just to use the scale. Employees are everywhere to answer your every needand very focused on getting you the most for your budget!! I needed help with supplies to build a planter box. I felt a need to update my review. Although I had originally given a 5 star, I would have loved to put a 5 PLUS. I just received my delivery of deck wood. The delivery mans name was Justin. And I would like to comment on how friendly and professional he was. He went right to work stacking the wood where I wanted. He was courteous and QUICK. I can't say enough good about this store. I dropped off a screen to be repaired and they lost it. They didn't even have my paperwork with it. They did give me a replacement for free after a few mess ups on their part. 6 months later I give them a second chance with my slider screen that my dog put a hole in. We called after about 3-4 weeks and they said they are busy and will get back to us soon. after about another 3 weeks I called and no one answered which happens a lot at Farmers. I go down there to see if it is ready and the screen is still there with the hole and the guy apologizes and says that the repairman has been sick. I asked if he has been sick for 6 weeks. He just says sorry and that he will get to it when they can. I decided to fix it myself and realize they AGAIN didn't have any paperwork or anything attached to my screen. I asked they guy how they would call me or even know who it belonged to and he just looked at me with a blank stare. I gave 1 star because they made the first time right but they are horrible. read more

The only reason for not getting 5 stars is that their fastener inventory pales compared to Diamond Supply's. Otherwise, the prices, lumber selection, and service beat any other store in the area. And we really like their awards program. We get a coupon for between $5 and $20 dollars every month. An example of the exemplary service is the guidance we received from a salesperson for a project we had insulating and walling-in a horse stall we were using for storage. He led us to inexpensive construction board and insulation, plus fasteners, and suggested a scissor lift to install the board in the vaulted ceiling. Another salesperson suggested we special order a handle latch for stall doors we were using for horses, and he called us when it came in later in the week. Sometimes they get very busy, but seem to handle high traffic with ease. read more

CRASH!!! Is the name of the hunka hunka burnin' fine ass guy that sharpened my machete for me ... before I even paid for it. Oh yeah, he worked it and worked it and his bunz were gettin' into that action with sharpening wheel and the file and the stone. TIGHT SIX STARS FOR CRASH ALONE!!!. His co-workers were gettin' on him "What are you doing sharpening a machete?" "Why ain't you workin'?" I'm telling you, he was working it and by "it" I mean me!!! I cruised the aisles to keep from drooling and came away with some home improvement ideas and some TSP for washing down the walls in the kitchen. Another employee helped my kiddo who is looking for a power drill for her b/f. This gal gave my daughter all the info she had and if she didn't have an answer said employee readily admitted it and found someone who did! Who woulda thunk there was so much info to be had about power drills. I think she's going with some kind of Hitachi Pro jobby. A good selection of home and garden stuff including plumbing and building supplies of which, of course, I know nothing. Go see Crash! Oh, after he sharpened the machete my mischievous daughter told him I didn't really want it! Of course I bought it but he DID inform me that it wouldn't work well on blackberry bushes. Clippers work better. In a perfect world, Crash would offer to come over and let me watch him take care of the blackberry bushes!!! read more

I have been a loyal customer of Farmers for over 20 years. They always provided good customer service with fair pricing and a complete inventory. I sure miss that! Last week I went in for 2 1/2" #14 screws that I have purchased there several times in the last 5 years. I couldn't find them so I looked for someone to help me. Lots of new faces that work at avoiding customers. Finally found a young man willing to help and he went right to the spot where they have been stocked for years. He looked and said sorry, we sent that inventory to Cave Junction and don't carry them any more. So I went over to bulk screws to get 3" square drive dacrotized deck screws. The bulk box had about 1/4 lb left in it and I needed 5 lbs. Tracked down the young man who had tried to help earlier. He went and checked and guess what? No more in stock. Today I went back and asked at the customer desk if they carried #2 square drive Hardened drive bits for use in impact drivers. All the guy said they stocked were the regular non-hardened ones and not the hardened ones for use in impact drivers they stock and sell. I found a Milwaukee hardened driver kit with many types of drivers. No price on the display. I took one back to the customer service counter and asked for a scan to get a price. The guy checked it and said it wasn't in the computer. I asked how to buy it and he just stared at me dumbfounded. Another clerk overheard this and came over and showed him which number to use and I finally got a price, $12, not bad, I'll take it. While waiting to check out at the front counter I see a great big display of individual Milwaukee hardened bits, something that they supposedly "don't carry"! I have tried so hard to shop locally and avoid corporate big box stores so my money would stay locally, but I am now being driven to the big box by our local businesses with poor customer service, untrained staff, and inadequate stock. PLEASE COME BACK TO YOUR ROOTS FARMERS! I MISS YOU! read more

The more often I shop here, the better I like the quality, prices and service......as horse owners with a 3 acre property and lots of projects, I'm here often. Seasonally I buy some of our hay here, and lumber, hardware and tools for several of my projects. Prices are very competitive, and the staff is real helpful and well versed in what they sell. They have a rewards program, I've already received several pretty nice rewards cards. A year into living here, I've probably purchased at least $1000 worth of lumber, quite a bit of hay, some Milwaukie tools. On top of everything else, the fact it's the closest materials yard to my house, just a bonus! read more

Always so helpful. If they don't have what you need they will direct you to who does. Even if its competition. They are a local company ( always awesome ).
