The clerk remarked that the model we had bought is a "POS" so even the staff knew it was a substandard mower yet sold it to an 83 year old man. Doing research after the fact, the same mower at Lowes was $400 cheaper and Lowe's stands behind the products and respect customers. The downside of this type of hardware store is that it doesn't let you see or choose your own lumber before you buy it, as evidenced by this photo. The quality of the two pieces of fairly expensive pressure-treated wood that I purchased was so atrocious that I wondered if they had come out of the ground from somebody else's yard: cracked, splintered, missing parts of the wood, discolored, and bowed.
