Went for lunch. The food was good. Buffet style. Atmosphere was inviting and neat! Staff was friendly. Would recommend.

We were excited to give this place a shot after seeing the impressive building. Very nice ambience and beautiful scenery. We were greeted in a friendly manner and our server was very attentive. However, the dining experience itself left a sour... no, cardboard taste in our mouths. Many of the serving stations were empty when we first came in and, unfortunately, several of the items I chose on my first trip to the buffet were stale-ish. It's a holiday weekend so maybe the timing was just off for the visit. A few fresh items were brought out but the green beans tasted canned and nothing really stood out to us. When both of us struggle to find a silver lining in something, things are amiss. Fortunately, dessert was good but shortly afterward, we got the check and felt nauseated at the price of what seemed to us like reheated pre-heated food. Hopefully this visit wasn't representative of what the restaurant has to offer; otherwise, somebody needs to put the Farmhouse out to pasture. read more

The Farmhouse Restaurant was the perfect place for our 8th grade students and chaperones to have lunch. The Farmhouse buffet had great options for the hungry adolescents and adults to fuel up before the next leg of our trip. I came here with a student educational tour group. It was on a Sunday around 5:30pm. It was not busy and the workers were very kind to us. The restaurant itself was beautiful and there were lots of food options! There was fish, meat, salads, and lots of sides and desserts. As far as buffets go, the quality was pretty good. Most of the food we had was tasty and fresh. A few items were not the greatest, but overall it was a great experience, especially for our large tour group. Such a beautiful location and property but it lacks everything else. To start I called ahead 2 weeks in advance for reservations for 11 people and still had to wait when I got there for our table to be ready, this was disappointing from the beginning. The website showed a carving station which I was then informed is only available on the weekends and for dinner, we were having a lunch event. The food was subpar to say the least, there was absolutely nothing remotely special able any of the food that was being served, I was very disappointed with my choice of restaurant as was everyone else at the table. The only good thing I can say was the service. My waitress was attentive and she understood my disappointment and took it to the manager who was able to comp 4 of the meal, even though I had requested 2 since they barely touched the food. We were so excited to finally have a chance to visit the new Farmhouse Restaurant! We visited when it was Boyd's Bears and were blown away by the transformation. This building is absolutely stunning and very well taken care of. We were so impressed as soon as we pulled into the parking lot. The building offers the buffet restaurant, a bar, and an arcade. We visited the arcade before dinner and my son had a blast. The restaurant was extremely clean and perfectly decorated. I wanted to be just as impressed with the food, but unfortunately the food was underwhelming. While there were many dishes to choose from everything looked like it had been there for a while. The food all tasted okay, but nothing special. We would love to see more specialty items added and more homemade dessert options rather than the store bought items they had to offer. read more

A buffet in the bottom floor of an old barn that use to be formerly Boyd's Bears. They added a gift store, bar and arcade. Also adding hotel rooms soon. Very large outside area with yard games in the back. We went for brunch today. Half the buffet was breakfast and the other half dinner options. All the food was good but nothing stood out as amazing. First, This is NOT a disability friendly atmosphere. From the walk from the parking lot, to the walk to the buffet from the upstairs is horrible for someone who has walking issues. The hostess was utterly rude ( that should have been a hint of what was to come) The food was ok, definitely not worth $26.99 tho. They had a carving station but no one was ever at it so we did not get to try any of that. The waiter was very friendly (the only saving grace for the night). After seeing several mixed reviews we decided to come try The Farmhouse Restaurant for ourselves. Tonight was the first night of Prime Rib on the dinner buffet. It didn't disappoint! That alone is rated a 5 by my husband who's a prime rib pick! Everything else was very good. There was 1 or 2 items that weren't 100% but when you're cooking that much food you can't please everyone. This is, by far, the worst buffet I have ever had. I visit Gettysbrg a couple of times a year and used to end the day at Gen. Pickett's Buffet. Sadly, it is no more. So, I thought I try this one just down Emmitsburg Rd. The beef at the carving station was fatty and grisly. The Italian food was under sauced and/order dried out. The veal parm was so bad. The stuffed cabbage was terrible. Soemthing I thought would be tender braised beef was chewy bits of some mystery meat. The veggies were uniformly bland. The bread station was a joke. On the bright side (the only reason it deserves even 1 star), the serve was good and the dessert station was OK. Just plain lousy. read more

Great tasting dinner, salads and desserts. Plenty of seating and a bar with live music. The buffet is large and separated into a cold salad rectangle in the center of the food room, desserts at the far end of the big room and hot savory dishes along the two other walls away from the entrances. The escalator ride downstairs was fun. The lobby is huge. We loved the Italian meatballs, meatloaf, tacos, Italian sausage, breadsticks, pork chops, macaroni and cheese, salads and layer cake. Nice view out the big windows of the fields behind the entrance of the 5 story big red barn. Coast seemed a bit high, but the food is supposed to be locally grown and raised. So, that is a plus. With a 22% tip, we paid almost 2 Franklin's. Also, the beef roast needed to have the cooking water added because it was really dry. read more

I did so much research on this this restaurant and I wanted so badly to have a good experience because we were celebrating my sons 18th birthday. It looked amazing from the photos, but unfortunately the food lacked so much appeal. Even my 18th year old boys didn't eat much. Which says a lot because they eat everything! I think they ate as much as a 3 year old. The reviews I read were bad and I was curious and hopeful so I still went and after spending tons of money for nothing. I will not be back. We came into Gettysburg for dinner with my son's school trip. The place is absolutely beautiful and spotless. There is a market store and arcade in addition to the restaurant. For a buffet, it is slightly above average. The variety was good and the salad bar impressed me. The Chicken Alfredo reminded me of Olive Garden (not a bad thing!). Friendly staff and amazing views! Unfortunately we were disappointed in the Breakfast Buffet. The food was not very fresh, eggs were cold, sausage was cold. Bacon was laying in grease, & all stuck together, couldn't possibly get 2-3 slices, had to take a big portion of about 5 slices that was wasted. Nothing special for kids. Had a group of 10 show up around 7 pm this past Saturday. We were seated shortly after and they jammed us into two tables making it very uncomfortable for many in the group. By the time we started visiting the buffet, almost all of the hot food items were out. It was really disappointing. A gentlemen stopped by the table and said he was the owner (believe he introduced himself as Brian, but he was wearing a baseball cap and overalls). We expressed our dissatisfaction with the buffet selection and he said that the kitchen was catching up. Went back up shortly after and there were only a few items restocked. They had even started putting metal covers over many of the items. While they do have a nice carving station, salad bar, and dessert bar, we expected them to restock the hot items. Not worth what we paid. Guess we will need to go earlier next time. Service was also subpar. Very slow to remove plates and hardly offered to refill drinks. The staff was incredibly nice and the areas were clean but the food was... well- dry? not good? the veggies were in serious need of seasoning, tasted like the whitest person ever cooked it. and yeah, you go to a buffet and get veggies? yeah so what? anyways the bread pudding was good but other than that i had to literally choke stuff down because it was so dry. We were in town this weekend and had brunch at the Farmhouse. The Barn Resort is beyond beautiful. We were very happy to see online that Picketts Buffet was now at the Farmhouse because that was always one of our favorite places. What was a little disappointing to me was that the eggs were somewhat burnt with brown pieces all through the scrambled eggs. Then they had a gravy out that had a hard film on top of it. The main reason for 3 stars was there was not overly special about the food. To me it seems like it all heat and serve that is bland. A wide variety of excellently crafted food. From fresh baked cod down to chicken nuggets and french fries. The ambiance of the barnyard decorations were gorgeous. And the facilities were well maintained. The staff were friendly but you can tell they're still getting used to the new business but we still had a great time. When it comes to dessert we were told about their famous dessert table...IT WAS STORE BOUGGT PIE THAT WAS STILL FROZEN. Although the salad bar was by far the best part of this establishment. The food was really sad. the shrimp were so TINY. The meatloaf looked like it was cooked a week ago. the vegetables were soggy. I ate salad for dinner. now the dessert was empty and what was there was old. The pumpkin pie had an overcooked dark layer filming the top since it must have been under the lights all day. I must say the building that houses the farmhouse buffet is quite a structure. The restaurant is on the bottom floor,along with a full bar and an arcade for the kids. The buffet itself was good with a fantastic salad bar. The hot food on the buffet was good not fantastic. I would say for $21.00 or $22.00 everything was adequate. This is the new restaurant that has recently opened in the old Boyds Bears building. My daughter called a few weeks ago for reservation for Mothers Day. They were not taking any. A few weeks later, they decide to take reservations.My daughter calls back & is told they are no longer taking reservations, but you can walk in. If we came at 11:30 we wouldn't have a problem. We arrived. The manager was rude from the start. When my daughter questioned her an hour later, she told her that she was being rude & we could leave or sit over in the waiting area & be quiet. We sat & waited for 2 hours. Asked how much longer, no idea. She had to seat the people ahead of us first. We left! Will never return. That is no way to run a new business!!!! They need to provide additional management training & basic customer service skills to Jackie who was the manager who was so RUDE! read more
