Well, I did not want to do this but after two emails to Corporate with no response, I'll put it here. I really like Golden Corral for their prices and variety for delivery meals, and I was really excited when I saw it was time for their Thanksgiving options! I got the Turkey and my husband got the Ham plate. The Turkey and Stuffing meal --- I could have killed myself if I had not turned one of the pieces over when transferring it to my plate. They gave me the Turkey thermometer. I respect that they actually use them and the birds are fresh, but had I bitten into it I would likely have broken a tooth to say the least. read more

Came again for lunch today and enjoyed it as well. The menu seemed similar to dinner and there was hot dogs which wasn't that salty so you can add condiments. I liked the fresh burgers and tater tots. They usually have 4 soups and one of them was replaced by chicken noodle soup today which my kids really liked. The clam chowder and chicken noodle soup are my favorite out of the 4. We had a nice waiter today which came often to check how we're doing and if we needed anything. Stopped by here during a weekend trip to Hershey Park/ Shady Maple Smorgasbord, the largest buffet in the US. Though the food was simple and homey here, the taste was much more diverse and refined than Shady Maple Smorgasboard. Price was also better. If you go here for dinner, try the steak dishes which are cooked tender and seasoned well. Salad bar is clean and stocked with fresh veggies. I've been to Golden Corral and Golden Corral-type places around the country over the years. Some have issues with running out of food. Some have issues with service. I would say that this is one of the better Golden Corrals. We've been here probably five times, and the service has been excellent for 4 of the visits and good (with a little prodding) for one. With regard to food, I love fresh salad, and this place has fresh produce and a good variety of salad fixin's and dressings. Even the cucumbers, which at some buffets are frozen or soggy, have been consistently good here. The other foods, including the fried foods, cooked vegis (Brussels sprouts, carrots, cabbage, green beans, etc), mashed potatoes, etc are uniformly good. They aren't stingy with the carved roast beef or steak stations here (a complaint I hear at some other Golden Corral) and the cakes and pies are really good. As far as ambience, it's a nice room, but yes it's crowded and the tables are fairly close together. But we have never felt rushed/pushed and, as I said, they usually are pretty good with filling water glasses and clearing plates. People have been pretty polite at the tables and at the food bars. But, yes, it does get crowded at times! If you get their app, you can get points for each visit and I have to say that I've used those points to save $10 from time to time. So definitely consider that. Look, I know it's a buffet, but the service is good and there is a good selection of salads. hot and cold foods, desserts and more. The price can't be beat. 5 stars. Golden Corral is a chain buffet so I wasn't expecting much. To my surprise, the waiting staff was great at keeping our drinks full and removing the extra plates. With a high number of people coming in and out, the staff kept in dinning area as clean as possible, I didn't see food on the floor and the restroom was clean unlike other locations. This place would get zero stars if possible: the menu is all fried garbage and the stuff that not fried soggy. The menu has not changed here in a couple years. Nothing here is worth the 20 dollars. Also, they charge you for a drink which should be included. The people working the register is always on their phone and maybe autistic as they can't look you on the eye. If there was a soda machine and a place to put dirty dishes you wouldn't even need "waiters and waitresses". I've come here several times because I'm an idiot and it has never gotten better. While the prices have gone up, I would have at least expected the quality to improve or stay the same. However it's gotten worse. You have workers who are filling up the food trays with such horrible attitudes that you immediately get ignored for simply asking where specific items are located. Secondly, a bunch of items that were cold! We were there for almost 2 hours waiting for fresh food to come out. Such as Mac and cheese, fresh steak, pizza and to no luck, we still left hungry. My family and I have been coming here often lately. The food is pretty good and great variety. I love the fact that they have plastic gloves to use for handling the utensils. There is an older male server there by the name of Jose' He is incredibly "Rude" in his mannerism and interactions with us and others while eating our meals. Solid, honest value. I have no complaints, and I will be happy to go again. Of course, it's a buffet. It makes no pretense of being a high end affair. It is not aimed at foodies, farm-to-table, or artisanal types. And the atmosphere is, shall we say, basic. But the salad bar is great, the veggies are not overcooked, the meat and seafood meets standards (great place to gorge on fried shrimp), and there's always plenty of dessert. I've always thought Golden Corral was pretty decent. My nephew and I came here for dinner last night and it was ok. It was fairly busy and has a large selection of offerings. Most of the meat is tough but I found the salad bar to be pretty cool. Needless to say, I think there is value to be had if you have a healthy appetite when you come here. I believe it comes to about $20/person for all you can eat dinner. The food ran right through me so I'm sure it's not the most highly nutritious. If you find yourself constipated, this might be worth the trip just to clean yourself out. read more

So this is my first time eating here and man it was a nightmare. The people directed my group of 8th graders to a special room but getting your food was insane and you had to fight for your food like it is world war 3. Then when you ate it you realized you probably shouldn't have ate that much and a couple of kids threw up everywhere and the bathroom was a disaster cause of it. We've going to the Frederick Golden Corral approximately 2-5 times a month for several years now and the food and service had been consistent until new management started not too long ago. During this time we've seen massive increases in employee turnover and far less focus on customer service, in fact new management pretty much ignores customers other than occasionally getting in an argument with them. Despite seeing this decline, we have continued to go regularly but after an incident a couple of weeks ago, we currently have no intention of returning (at least not until issues with current management are resolved). The incident a couple weeks ago started with us getting the restaurant and looking for a seat and there are a few specific seats we sit in every time we go there and we always sit in a booth as I am a disabled veteran with multiple disabilities to include many issues in my back and spine and I can't handle sitting in the non booth chairs for more than a few minutes. We noticed that most of the seating areas being used were mostly full despite not even that many people there. We noticed one very large section in the back side was closed out and reserved for a group later and wasn't in use and everything else on that side was full so we went to other side of restaurant. We saw that back section was closed out for a private function and was in use but then we saw a booth open before that section that was closed off so we put our stuff there and got our food. When we came back with our plates full, the manager told us we had to switch tables as they were going to need more space for another large group. There was no signage up for this area being closed but he said he needed the space. I told him it was extremely unprofessional to kick us out of our seats especially since no signage was up and approximately 65% of the restaurant seating was already reserved for private parties and events. He told me we had to move to I asked him where were supposed to sit and he pointed to a waitress who was pointing to a tiny table with the regular dining chairs. I informed him that was not acceptable as I have multiple issues in my back and even offered to show him disability documentation but he refused and made it clear he didn't care. I told him that my disabilities prevented me from being able to sit in a chair like that for any length of time and even informed him that I'm a disabled veteran (thinking he might care as Golden Corral often pretends to care about the military and veterans) but he again told us to leave the table we were at. I informed him that I was not able to sit there and needed proper accommodations for my disability and he refused and again ordered us to leave that table and go to the other seating and I again told him that I can't so that I guess we are being kicked out of the restaurant because we were being kicked out of our table and not being allowed an appropriate seating to eat at. He said that was fine and we can leave so I told him we needed a refund and he escorted us up front, leaving our full plates on the table wasting a ton of food, and gave me a refund. As we walked up front and as I waited for refund, I asked several times why he thought it was okay to kick us out of the table we were at as it was not in a reserved or closed off section. I also asked him why he felt he was except from making any effort for reasonable accommodation for disabiltiies. I then asked him why Golden Corral pretends to care about the miliary and veterans if they are just going to treat a disabled veteran in such a poor fashion. He kept ignoring my questions, made no effort to address any concerns and clearly didn't care about anything. read more

We needed to attend a memorial service for an old friend who passed in the area. It was a bitter cold weekend. We drove from NJ the night before so we were looking for hot descent comfort food. This place was packed and hopping. The food was quite good and there was so much to choose from. My husband took small samples from one side and I the other then decide what to get. The butterfly shrimp were awesome and a complete home run. There also was a nice Shepard pie with stewed beef. Fall off the bone baby back ribs also were noteeorthy. We skip the desserts and stick with the main couse items because that is what they do best . Our waitress was overwhelmed and missing otherwise I would have given another star. Golden Coral isn't fine dining, it's buffet style comfort food. If you are into buffets they are probably one of the better ones. The items are hot, replaced and refilled timely. They keep things tidy eventhough some people are pigs. Their prices are reasonable considering their huge selection of items to choose from. For the best dining experience try to get there before the mad rush. Unfortunately we couldn't avoid our bad timing and went at their busiest service. read more

This specific location is the worst franchise restaurant I've been to! The food trays are half empty if not empty. There are not enough staff behind the food counters who can help with those food that are not for self service. The labels on food are all messed up, for example, there is a label that says fried chicken livers but the tray has fried fish in it. I go to Golden Coral for a guilty pleasure. You would think it would be their medium rare steak or the melt your mouth prime rib with the just right au jus. And all you can eat for $13.99. Your next guess would probably be their home cook meatloaf with to die for gravy, crunchy butterfly shrimps, every type of pizzas,old fashioned chicken noodle soup,the endless salad bar or even the hundreds choices of desserts. My family and I visited Fredrick, Md for one of its local attractions. We went to this Golden Corral afterwards. I haven't been to any buffet since the pandemic and even before the pandemic, I was never a fan of Golden Corral due to the conditions of the ones that I've previously dined in. I haven't been here in years. I have to say, as buffet experiences go, this is pretty much what you'd expect. I think I'm just over buffets in general. We went the day after Christmas. 3 adults and 1 senior and it was around $47, which seemed a lot. I think we got charged dinner prices, I still thought it was lunchtime (3 ish?) There is a big variety of food, from salad area, kids, meats, desserts, etc. Because there is a lot of food, the quality is just okay, in my opinion. I tried the Pork Steak and it was really dry. One of our party members had a hamburger (it's served on the bun) and said they really disliked the bun. I've been for dinner before or on a weekend, this time of day there was no liver or steak. I think you have to go after 4pm. The ice cream machine was really, really slow in dispensing ice cream and there were no spoons or whipped cream. We asked for spoons, but went off to find them some where else. The person working ice cream and cakes seemed overwhelmed. There were several people ringing the bell for scoops of ice cream. Our server came by several times and was very friendly. She was the highlight of the meal. The restaurant was clean. We didn't use the restrooms, so can't comment on those. Wife And I went to Frederick GC for breakfast after church, extremely unfriendly gentleman (?) on the register took my credit card and charged us $34.09 - 2 people! I asked again how much and he was dismissive, and said $34.09. I said we only came for breakfast, he said too late, dinner starts at 11am. I remarked we would never again be back, and we were watched like a hawk after that. I don't know what he thought we were going to do. Against my better judgment we ate there anyway. I only stop at this Gold Corral if I am in Frederick on a weekday and it's between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. It's fairly quiet during this time and not too hectic. It's too busy other weekday and evening times and always on the weekend. They are on the transition from breakfast to lunch when I go. I always sit in the same area and usually get the same table. I get a few bites of the breakfast food I like and then a few items from the lunch menu during the switchover. I am on autopilot and get the same food every time because I know what I like and what, to me, always tastes good. I have never had a problem or complaint. I did not see the one woman whose area I usually sit in on my last few visits. Don't know if she is working different hours or has left the restaurant, which would be a shame since she worked there for a long time. The ladies who did serve my table were great, attentive and hard workers. Again, I limit my visits during certain hours to avoid big crowds and groups and know exactly what I want from the buffet and what I enjoy. So far, have not been disappointed. read more
