"Fruitcakes in the kitchen Fruitcakes on the street Struttin' naked through the crosswalk In the middle of the week" (Jimmy Buffett) A few days ago, we saw a post on the "Next Door" website that was very complimentary towards Farmington Pizza + Kitchen. I checked them out on Yelp and saw a whole lot of favorable reviews for their pizza, calzones, wings, salads and entrees . We planned on having pizza tonight and had already defrosted a pizza shell and some sliced sausage we keep in the freezer. But be honest, what goes best with pizza (that isn't alcoholic?) Of course the answer is salad. So that brings us to our visit today where we ordered a $12.95 Chef's Salad. Our container was loaded with Romaine Lettuce, red onion, grape tomatoes, peppers, and ham, turkey and provolone cheese ribbons. The store's interior is quite attractive with a dark wood floor, white tabletops and metal webbed chairs. Their main attraction is a gorgeous red brick beehive pizza oven that looks like it belongs in an art museum. Our server Constantine was terrific, personable, friendly and just plain old super nice. How was our salad? It was excellent, plenty of food for two. The Chef's Salad was just one of thirteen on their menu, so there's a ton of variety. Available dressings include Italian, Ranch, Caesar, Honey Mustard, Balsamic, Oil & Vinegar, Blue Cheese, and Raspberry Vinaigrette. We went for the Honey Mustard and it was excellent. We plan on returning to go a little deeper into their menu, but we sure had a favorable first opinion of Farmington Pizza + Kitchen.

THE smallest wings in the world @ $1.50 each...its just wrong

I stopped into Canton location to try their Buffalo chicken pizza (see pic). It was good. Until the chicken wings are addressed, I must stand by my original rating.

Have been craving a calzone so decided to order one for lunch the other day. Have never been to Farmington Pizza and Kitchen, but work in Farmington so wanted to support the local pizza joint. The calzone looked beautiful! I ordered mushroom and pepperoni. It came with ricotta and mozz. It was good. The sauce they serve with the calzone was very chunky. It had A LOT of Italian seasoning. It was ok. I was wondering to myself if they use the same sauce on their pizza. I may try it sometime but would be disappointed if they used the calzone sauce. The calzone itself had way too much ricotta (and I LOVE ricotta). There was plenty of mushrooms and pepperoni, but just too much ricotta. Oh - and the crust was actually really good (hence the reason I'd be interested in trying their pizza sometime). Overall - it was decent but not amazing!

What a great addition to the selection of great food options in Farmington. I ordered delivery and it was fast, hot and amazing. First bite I knew this was a good oven cooking this pizza. The fries were crispy and delicious. My wife and I loved it so much we picked up a large pie 3 days later! When we pulled in I noticed the bright red dome brick oven and knew we found our place! Friendly staff and they have 50% off pizzas on Mondays!

A double slice of pizza. Artichoke and roasted red peppers with mozzarella and feta cheese.

The pizza was delicious. The thin crust slices are not too thin and the pizza was perfectly cooked a light golden brown that let me taste the dough and the crust is chewy and not too thick. The pizza with artichokes and roasted red peppers was delicious and no red sauce which my tummy appreciated. I like sauce but it doesn't always agree with me so I was very happy with my pizza. The delivery was right on time and I will have to try another pizza from there soon. Maybe I will try a sauce pizza. The Baklava dessert was a good size and I enjoyed that too. Highly recommend using Slice for the delivery it is reasonably priced and on time.

Passing through the Farmington area on the way back to Massachusetts and stopped here to grab a bite. From the moment we walked in we was greeted with a warm smile and friendly attitude. Picked seats furthest away from the Air conditioner and the staff notices the kids was cold and adjusted the temp without hesitation and without having to ask. As we waited we took pictures and encouraged the kids to partake for my girlfriends birthday. The staff overheard us and offered free sodas on the house to go with food we already order. Place smells great, Menu is full of great choices. The food is superb. It's a must if your in the area.

My coworker and I visited here while running a wedding charter. It's a good location on Farmington avenue across from the driving range, right next to a Dunkin's and many other little stores. It's a small place on the outside but inside it's quite cute and welcoming. A small seating area but not just pop up tables for grab and go eating. It has the pizzeria vibe but not old world decor, very fresh. The waiter/counter person was very friendly and polite. We grabbed some drinks from the cooler and sat enjoying the AC! I picked the Caprese salad w/balsamic glaze and my coworker ordered the gyro w/fries. The food came quickly and the presentation was pretty nice. Clean plates, eye appealing and fresh ingredients. I do wish they had peppercorn grinders instead of pepper shakers for flavor sake but otherwise the meal was very tasty. We both really enjoyed our lunch and I'm gonna take my family there to try it out!

Clearly my order description and how much it charged me that they say was not in their system.

I enjoyed this pizza place a lot! I believe they are known for baking their pizzas in an extremely…read morehot, coal fired oven. The crust is tough and crunchy with delicious charred flavor from the high heat firing. We tried their tomato pie with mozzarella which I quite liked. It was on the blander side but with the oregano and garlic, was quite palatable. We also got their famous clam pie but we were not terribly impressed. To me it almost tastes like a clam pasta on a pizza. It's basically just what the name implies. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it again but the tomato pie was great. Our service was stellar. The people checked on us frequently and got us all the drinks we wanted. They helped us pack the pizza in foils so we could out the leftovers in our hotel fridge. A word of warning! The pizza is huge!

So, I'm sitting here, about an hour after having a white clam pizza and I still taste garlic. Not…read moreclams, not cheese, not crust--just the allium family's most fart-prone, overhyped stepchild. I may or may not be contemplating a couple of Tums. I'm conflicted on this 2/5 rating since I wish there was a 2.5/5 option here. There are some promising things about Frank Pepe's: a coal-fired oven, photos of the same white clam pizza I ordered that look more like pizzas I had in Italy than the one I got, and other options for toppings that might work out better. Perhaps asking for light garlic and maybe the addition of the calabrian chilies from the seasonal special pizza (or pickled jalapeños, if available) would've fixed the balance (and topping palatability) of this pizza. A different pizza also may be substantially tastier, but goshdarnit, we're close enough to the ocean that I'd like to think the white clam is a slam-dunk. It's even listed in neon in the window! As ordered, unchanged, off the menu, though, I feel like I need to leave this state for a pizza just to feel something. Connecticut calling itself "the pizza state" has thus far been a lie; a cruel joke wherein a few outstanding outliers try to gloss over the fact that most of the state's pizza is mid-to-bad. "Mystic Pizza" being one of the state's most famous audiovisual exports sort of fits given that the availability of standout pizza here appears to be a mystical unicorn I've yet to find after moving here last year. Pepe's gets serious props for using large chunks of clams that don't look like the typical, uniformly cut, restaurant-supply-can chunks, but they were a bit rubbery and almost completely drowned out by the amount of garlic. It's like they were cooked too long, and the moisture from the clams evaporated accordingly. The crust had a little crunch to it as well, but lacked the crispy bubbles and heavier charred spots I expect from this style of pizza and from the assorted menu photos. Either go foldable or go harder on the fire--anywhere in between lands in disappointment territory. Commit to a bit. $8 a pint is a bit much for basic beer selections like Sam Adams and Peroni, too, but that's sort of my least concern. We live in Hell where everything is expensive lately, and at least beer prices haven't shot up as badly as gas prices. I probably should've ordered the sangria in hindsight. White peach? Here for it. Also, the staff was friendly, and service was prompt. I really should give it a second chance with a more traditional tomato-sauce pizza, or maybe a margherita. If you go, expect it to fall short of the hype unless whoever made the nicely bubbly white clam pie in the photos posted here is manning the oven. Unless you like garlic as much as I like cheese, consider asking to go light on the garlic for a better-balanced pizza if you order this one.
