3.5: Solid pizza but skimpy toppings We have enjoyed Little City since it was in Simsbury but the last few times we've not been thrilled with what you get for the price. The large pizzas were $20 and with the additional three toppings per pizza, came to around $30. While mushrooms and spinach both shrink, the toppings were not plentiful. Same with the artichoke, pepper and tomato (hard to see). We had to supplement the toppings with extra tomatoes and garlic. For what we got, it would better to just make our own at home. Or just get plain pizzas and put your own sauteed toppings on. We do like the thin crust and the veggie panini was pretty good though I'd prefer the filling to be more than the covering. read more

he pizza here is amazing, but the service is horrible. The average age of the restaurant personnel must be 20 and no sign of anyone with more experience managing the chaos. Here's the background, I ordered a pizza via Toast at 2:00 for a 5:45 pickup. When I arrived I was told that it would be 10 mins. 30 minutes later I finally asked them to check on our pizza. Miraculously it came out. COME ON! That is completely unsatisfactory! Before all the excuses start, just stop. It is the restaurant's responsibility to manage its line. I get "slammed" but the seating area wasn't packed. The bar area was full with mostly what seemed to be other folks waiting on their take away. Having lived in the south the last 20+ years, I always make it a point to get good New England pizza when I make it home. My sister suggested LCP, and it checked all the boxes. A good thin, crispy crust, and not so greasy that it flops and cheese slides off. We also had a small Margarita pizza that was also excellent. Very small menu, ordered the Mediterranean sampler appetizer And that was a rip off for what you get and the pizza selection was weak as well. Came here for a birthday celebration, had a great time! The food here was good. It wasn't the best I've had, but for the price and what I got there are no complaints. The panini I bought was a little salty, but overall very tasty. The rest of the party got a pizza, which they enjoyed. The service was also very good. Even though we were the only donee dining there at the time, they still checked in on us and were pretty quick with the service. Takeout review: Read great reviews about this place, so we had to try it out. Ordering and pickup was easy; service was good and pizza was hot and ready. We decided to do a small pepperoni and fennel sausage pizza and a large BBQ chicken special pizza. The pepperoni and fennel sausage was good; I didn't really taste too much fennel but it was good, the crust was thin, chewy, and crispy in all the right areas. I liked the BBQ chicken pizza better; it had BBQ sauce, caramelized onion, smoked mozzarella, scallions, pancetta, and grilled chicken. All the ingredients complemented each other and I'm a fan. Next time, I want to try out the mashed potato special pizza; it has pancetta, mashed potatoes, cheddar cheese, scallions, and corn. That sounds so good. I had a Yelp event to attend to and usually the Yelp events are forty five minutes to an hour away from my hometown, so I usually plan a day around the event since I'm driving so far. My daughter and I usually make it a culinary trip to different restaurants and to see the different parts of Connecticut. I had Little City Pizza in my bookmarks for a while and since we were going to be in town, we wanted to check it out. Little City Pizza is located in a corporate building so you have to go into the building to get to the restaurant. The restaurant has really cool art around the restaurant which was pretty cool. My daughter, my brother, and I were getting together for my daughter's birthday and upon entering, we were greeted by the host. The restaurant just opened so we were immediately seated. We ordered a large half Pepperoni and Sausage pizza. The pizza took about twenty five minutes to come out and this was a huge pizza. The sauce was so flavorful and you could taste the hint of garlic in the sauce. The pizza was crispy and the crust was very good. Very crunchy and cooked to perfection. I would have to put up there with Sally's Pizza in New Haven. Yes!! I said it!! It's almost at the par with Sally's Pizza in New Haven, Connecticut if you didn't hear me. I highly suggest taking an hour ride to get to Little City Pizza. Dave Portnoy gave Little City Pizza a 7.9 but they were definitely a 9 or 9.5 in my opinion. It was just really good pizza. The customer service was great and the staff were really pleasant and welcoming. LCP was an awesome recommendation from some friends of ours enjoy this stop a lot. So glad we tried it. I smelled wings as soon as we got there, so I asked the waitress, Shannon, what the options were. She said we only do one and we do it right! Ok then, bring it! Oh man, she wasn't kidding! Nice and crispy with the right amount of heat. Sauce was abundant, but not excessive. Enough to dip my pizza crusts into. Wonderful! There were kids present, so I kept my moaning to a minimum. Title: Came to one of the Top 20 Pizzerias in Connecticut. Left after more than 30 minutes when they forgot to put in our order. My wife and I drove into Connecticut from West Virginia on Sunday, 10/26. After ten hours on the road, we looked up the Top 20 pizzerias in CT. The recommended pizzeria on our way home on route 10 North was Little City Pizza. We ordered the Little City Pizza special for its grilled chicken, melted leeks, artichoke heart, roasted garlic spread, fontina and romano cheeses. The restaurant was about 1/3 full. There were a number of waitstaff. After 30 minutes, we got tired of nursing our seltzer water and went to the front to check on our pizza. After a few minutes, the attendant came to our table and said, "I forgot to put in your order. I apologize. I am putting it in now." We said we did not want to wait any more time. The restaurant offered to make it 'to go.' We refused as we were still 40 minutes from home. They also offered to make us something quick to take with us. BTW, the restrooms are outside the restaurant. The women's restroom was dirty. The men's room had one urinal with the other location ripped out of the wall. Wow. Little City Pizza has been a long-time favorite for me, back to when they were across from Town Hall in Simsbury. The pizzas are well-priced and consistently well-made, the flavor combinations are interesting and tasty, and service always excels. They used to have a steak salad that was my favorite lunch for a while. But you'll never go wrong ordering the Little City pizza (or the Mashed Potato pizza, which exceeds all other pizza places' mashed potato pizzas because it includes corn, the perfect balance of flavors). Little City has a super-hero theme in their decor. Their current location has outdoor seating when the weather is nice, and lots of windows for great light. Little City serves NY style thin crust crispy pizza that is the best in the Farmington Valley. On a Friday night about 6pm the place was busy with seated patrons and several waiting for take-out orders. We were seated quickly and our server came right over for drink orders while we scanned the menu. We ordered a large (17") thick pepperoni 1/2 mushrooms and onion. We were brought a 14", which our server apologized for but said we would be given a second 14" as well to take home. Frankly the 14" was plenty for 2 people. Wow! This is a must try place. Quite possibly the best pizza in Central Connecticut. Now I know, I'm saying a lot, but the top three pizza places in my opinion are: Modern, Sally's, and Pepe's in New Haven. Topping out the top five would be Zupardi in New Haven and Roseland in Derby. Now the great question would be what are the next five? Little City has to be #6 in Ct. The pepperoni pizza with mushrooms was simply amazing. This was true, thin style, with an excellent char on the bottom. If you are a pizza junkie like I am, this is a definite must try. I know you will hear 1 million opinions from 1 million people about best pizza in Connecticut. But New City is simply the best pizza in central Connecticut. A Farmington Valley area Yelper who had recommended an area pizza place that I loved also recommended Little City. I've heard other people call Little City one of the best pizza places in Hartford County. So he's not alone. I live about 25 minutes away, but I was finally able to go since I was in the area. I liked the pizza, but my Small Half Pepperoni and Mushroom, and Half Sausage and Roasted Red Pepper, wasn't up there with the best in Hartford County for me. There's a lot to like about Little City. The online ordering system was easy. My interaction with the Little City crew was good. My pizza was ready on time. It's cool that you can order two distinct halves. All of the toppings were high quality and a step up from most places. The Small, at 14 inches, was still pretty large. The price was reasonable. The inside of the restaurant was modern and very cool. However, I prefer the sauce, cheese and crust at other places. The crust was very thin, almost St. Louis style thin. The bottom had no char. I prefer a slightly chewier crust. This is a personal preference and others may love this style. I also didn't connect with the sauce. It didn't stand out from the other pizza components. From what I could taste of it, I would have preferred a slightly sweeter sauce to balance the saltiness. I also didn't connect with the cheese. It was more set and less stretchy than I prefer. I'm not sure if this was because of the cheese selection, the cooking process or a combination of both. Again, I liked Little City's pizza and my experience with Little City. I just feel like when a pizza place is discussed with the best in the area, I owe it to everybody to do a deep dive. Four Stars read more

This is IT. The pizza I've been wanting! I lived in NYC for the last 6 years and despite what Connecticut folk will tell you, it just isn't the same here...or so I thought. Little City is the first pie I've tried that holds its muster. I ordered a margherita (only $18.50 for a large that could comfortably feed a family of four) off of DoorDash and knew the second I saw it that it was going to be a good pie. Ample, juicy hunks of tomato, glistening crust with a great crumb...this is easily the best pizza I've tried in the valley - better than Da Capo, E&D, Pepe's, etc and it's not even close. Not to mention it's also cheaper than all of those. All in all, couldn't be happier to be proven wrong. Will absolutely order again. read more

We were told to check this place out so here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Set in a plaza a little ways off of the main road is this gem. It's a part of a building with other small shops, but this is where everyone was hanging out... for obvious reasons! The entrance to the restaurant is inside the main building right by the foliage. Once inside you're immersed with a very chill tavern-like feel. I loved the wood floors and all of the exposed brick. To the right is the bar area with a nice elliptical shape rail and plenty of high-tops. To the left of where you walk in is another large space for families to dine in. Service: We received pretty awesome service, especially since we were asking about possibly having our rehearsal dinner here. We got everything we needed and learned a lot about the history of the place at the same time! Food: First we tried their LCP Buffalo Wings and they were delightful. Not my favorite of all time, but totally good enough to serve to 50 or so people the night before the wedding! We also tried their Cajun specialty pizza which consists of spicy tomato sauce base topped with smoked mozzarella, andouille sausage, shrimp, yes, shrimp, red pepper and scallions. I love spicy food and this pizza was absolutely delicious. If this one pizza is this good then we'd love to share many more of them with our friends and family! Value: 9 wings will run you $8.95 so that's less than $1.00 per wing! They've won my heart! Lol. The pizza comes in 2 sizes, small and big. Moved to the Hartford metro area a little over a year ago, and have begun trying lots of restaurants to try to find our favorites! In an effort to find great pizza after trying over a half dozen pizzerias, we visited Little City at someone's suggestion. We have now been there three times and so far have not been disappointed! All three times, the place was full...a good sign! Their pizza crust is a little more 'crispy' than a NY slice but in a good way, and the thickness is just right! Cheese and sauce - just the right amount according to my wife, although a little more sauce would have been more to my liking. Twice we had young kids with us (5 & 3 yrs), and upon being seated were immediately provided the usual choice of booster or high chair....and crayons with paper to keep us all busy! Clearly a child friendly restaurant. Wait staff have always been very responsive and available as needed. And food came out in a reasonable time, especially considering how busy they were. We probably pass about a dozen pizzerias on our way to Little City. We'll not only be back but this has likely become our go-to place! Enjoy!! read more

I unfortunately didn't get to eat a lot more as I flew in from Detroit and had a little bit of time. The pizza was phenomenal, well baked and thin. Really enjoyed the flavor and it wasn't overall greasy/oily like some pizza places can be. The service was very quick and the staff was extremely helpful. Really enjoyed the place as well. Damn this pizza is just so so good. You almost take it for granted. We ordered ahead of time (learning our lesson that the pizza can get backlogged) and got a large cheese and large pepperoni on a recent visit. The pizza is just a home run and if it's not the best in the area (and to be clear, the area has AWESOME places that I love as well), it's a tie at least. Why? The pepproni is just perfect. The curl-up kind just had plenty of pieces. No cutting corners here. Just plenty of toppings. Then the cheese and the sauce and the very edible crust. New Haven-ish style -- thin -- without falling over. I like the slice size too. Easy takeout and friendly service.
