Once I got beyond the reptiles I became full of disgust. Dead mouse. 4' high guinea pig cubicle that was left open. Mouse with some type of sore or disease. Wire wheels. Overcrowded chickens. Rabbits with no rest spots from the wire flooring. Birds with dowel perches. Along with just dust and grime over everything in the back room, dog food, horse grain, rodent food bags. Bleck. To tie it together the pricing isn't even a wow either, same as the local petco or petsmart not that they're any better, maybe cleaner. Horse hackamore that looked used still for $16,$17 same price as the dog leashes. Overall disappointing. Would have comment on service however I didn't make a purchase nor did any staff take notice of someone walking in. Only awkward silence if you were in their way to get by. Maybe just an off day. Absolutely disgusting I wish I would've taken Photos looked at their tortoises sulcata baby Tortoise's eyes were swollen Shut - little box turtle I think it was dead. The shell looks terrible. It skin was super puffy. All the fish tanks were clouded. It looked like poor animals crammed in cages absolutely dirty. I felt like I'm gonna leave here with disease on my feet. I didn't even wanna get anything because I felt I would take it home to my pets and they would get absolutely sick. Their poor birds look terrible and over priced. I legit could not control my facial expression. I was disgusted. Everything is covered in dust I've seen better farm/pet stores in conditions like this. And the SMELL. My lord the smell slaps you in the face. Immediately plugged my nose and just breathed through my mouth. But that didn't help, I could quite literally TASTE THE AIR. It was humid, and vile, and you could tell the employees were trying to mask it with some kind of air freshener that was just making it worse. My eyes started to water. I believe his name is Travis and he obviously could care about his attitude or service. He was abrupt and rude to my wife so we left without buying all that we had made the trip from Sequim to acquire. I had read the other reviews and we did not find the store to be that bad and but today's visit was our last one. I can tolerate most things but rude and crude cross the line. read more

We purchased 10 neon tetras from Farmland Pets & Feed on the evening of 1/10/2026. By the morning of 1/11/2026, all 10 had died. We have prior aquarium experience (90-gallon and 120-gallon setups), and we prepared thoroughly before adding any fish. The tank was cycled, we tested the water both before and after adding the fish, and the parameters were within proper ranges. The fish were also acclimated correctly. Nothing in our setup or procedure would cause all 10 fish to die overnight, which strongly suggests the fish were already unhealthy at the time of purchase. When we returned to the store the next morning to request a refund, we were told that we needed to bring in all 10 dead fish and a water sample. We were not informed of this policy at the time of purchase. Additionally, the employee repeatedly insisted that "something was wrong with our water" and kept telling us to bring in a sample so he could test it--despite the fact that I told him multiple times that the water had already been tested with a liquid test kit, and I even showed him photos of the results. He dismissed that and kept pushing the same line and refused to refund us without the fish. It's unclear what the store intended to do with 10 dead fish, and the lack of transparency about their return policy was frustrating. Because of this experience, we will not be returning. This is not how you build trust with customers or stand behind the livestock you sell. read more

After seeing all the other bad reviews going back a DECADE- I genuinely don't know how this shop is still in business. I visited last week and was overwhelmed by the bad smells, the unhealthy looking animals - so many poor chicks were crammed into a small metal cage to the point they could hardly turn around- it's unsanitary and inhumane. Whole place felt like I was visiting a hoarder house. Was going to buy a fish but we stood there for a good five minutes waiting to be acknowledged while the dude would rather play with a snake than make a sale. We gave up and left. read more

They have some great finds for ALL kinda of animals! It's also so great to be able to shop local. Items are a bit dusty and you should be cautious of trip hazards. Overheard employees arguing and they refuse to wear masks. I had concerns, but honestly they seemed confrontational so I'll try other shops first. Not ADA accessible. Serious smell. I can totally see how this is the perfect go-to for some needs, so go & make your own opinion, because maybe I have high standards? Update, I now refuse to shop here because of the reports made on how they treat puppies & kittens. It has been reported many times for using inhumane breeders, and storing the young & furry in poor conditions. People reported seeing dead kittens in the display cages. I had to go look for myself, and although I don't know all details, I did not like how the puppies were displayed in wire cages. It made me sad to see. Very good variety of animals housed in poor And inhumane conditions. Lots of live, but dying, prey left loose in tanks including mice which increases risk of injury for the animals. Doesn't seem like they check to see if the animals are healthy or eating. Animals seem really stressed and unhealthy. Cages were not clean and the rooms were very hot. When asked to see a specific lizard, they dug around the enclosure violently until they found him burrowing and let us look but then threw his hide back on, locked him up, and walked away. Pet rats had scabs on them from fighting, geckos didn't have any heat source, birds and other small animals housed improperly. Customer service was not good. Would not recommend giving them your business. read more

The main reason I am giving them one star is because they sell sick animals. They do not try and improve the health of their animals before they sell them. Due to this, I am now struggling with fin rot in my entire tank due to purchasing a Pleco from them. When recently visiting the store, I saw more than three dead fish in their tanks. Clearly they don't pay enough attention. In photos I've attached, you can see two of the dead fish mentioned and another of gold fish that were for sale that had a severe case of ich. Don't be fooled by the ignorant who claim this store doesn't support a serious puppy mill. Anyone who has over 1000 dogs (as does the mill this store buys their animals from, stated in multiple places) is absolutely, without a doubt a puppy mill that cares only about profit. Anyone with any understanding of the social and physical needs of dogs & other animals knows that these animals at these mills cannot be and are not living in good conditions. Surviving is not thriving. These dogs CANNOT be receiving any kind of real socialization and by the time they arrive at this store, they are already socially, mentally, and physically miles behind a healthy and socialized pup who came from a responsible breeder. Most likely, sadly, they will never catch up and be the dog they could have been. Do you want to purchase a puppy who's highly likely to have health and social problems? A puppy who's fearful of new things and people? These are the types of animals coming from puppy mills. It doesn't matter if they LOOK healthy. Almost all puppies are going to look appealing because they're so young. Boycott this store & any store selling animals! No store selling animals has gotten them from legitimate, responsible breeders. read more

UPDATE. As the assaults against Farmland continue, I decided to look into the specifics of the claims as can be found using google. For my background with Farmland, I am a recurring customer for crickets to feed lizards, and have always found them decent people whose animals are healthier than in the big chains they have to compete with. But I have no other connection, do not even know the names of anyone there. Yet gotta stick up for them a bit. Not that I haven't worried myself about some of the tiny dogs they've had for sale, not invariably happy little campers barely weaned. Yet sadly, the activists who have repeatedly attacked Farmland on Yelp (and elsewhere) don't require proof of anything. I checked their claim that BJ's in Kansas was a heinous disease-ridden miserable facility and in fact the USDA had investigated in 2016, when they had 755 adult dogs and 425 puppies, and found only three that were not in good health. Those are great percentages, and since even those three were being properly treated, the USDA gave them no citations, but only a warning about the temperatures in one building. We may not agree dogs should be in large even healthy kennels but if it is a bad thing there should be no reason to lie about the animals' health, just tell the truth. So an exaggeration that amounts to a lie about BJ's is then blamed on Farmland. And since the activists involved think little of making stuff up, I find myself wondering if Farmland even deals with this large and distant breeding kennel. Supposing the "KAA" group making these claims had selected a genuinely horrific puppymill in Kansas, it'd still be lunacy to picket and savage a family business run well in a completely different place. But that's the natural of "local" activists. If they can't find an actual malefactor they pick on who is closest and least likely to have the money to sic attorneys on them. Sad to say, all too many activists in this area are either themselves loony as all get-out, or simply far too gullible in accepting information from the loonies who wouldn't even let people keep personal pets if they could have their druthers. I'd be more comfortable with ACTUAL citations against Farmland being used as "evidence" of perfidy, except I searched for them and apparently there aren't any. read more

I love these folks. Shocked to see low ratings but there will always be trolls I guess. I'm here to help set the record straight. They supply me everything I need when it comes to farming/husbandry supplies. Plus they constantly have feeders for my exotic critters. I've never been told that they've run out of something (roaches, worms, crickets, rats). The folks there are cool - they keep it pretty real and I respect that. They got what I need and it's priced reasonably well. Which brings me to my next point: Sometimes personal ethics get put on the line because your business needs the cash flow. "Oh you like pure-breds? Well I don't but I still want your money." Animal rights are NOT human rights. I *absolutely* want to see some changes in our society and culture in relation to how we treat our animal family members but that doesn't change the fact that these animals (puppies included!) are a product provided for a consumer via a legal transaction. Perhaps, if consumers better educated themselves and stopped being so greedy - small businesses like this wouldn't feel so obligated to supply the demand. read more

Both times I have gone here in the past few months there has been someone very close range to me with zero mask on. At least one of those times it was an employee. The woman that works the front register also was only wearing a shield both times which doesn't really protect anyone. The reason I would buy a dog from Petland would be to save its life. The conditions are deplorable. Two dogs were in a cage suitable for a mouse. Someone needs to step in and report the conditions to a rescue group. I cannot tolerate the conditions in which the animals live. I walked no more than 3 feet into the store and the smell was terrible. Going further inside revealed why: the poor animals are kept in horrible conditions. Dirty, feces filled tiny cages for all of the small mammals crammed inside. Several were lethargic or dead; the cages were too full to get a thorough look at any one animal in particular. Worst of all, I was unaware that I had wandered into an outlet for a puppy mill. The poor puppies in Farmland live inside small, wire floor cages stacked in a tiny room with a sliding glass door, trapping all of the smell along with the puppies cries for help, inside. I wanted to rescue all of them but know that buying one means another one will be sent to suffer in his/her place and ensures that a mother dog will be forced to endure yet another pregnancy. Asking where the pups came from revealed that they are not only from a puppy mill, but from one of the largest mills in the country with over 1000 dogs/puppies in the Kansas-based facility. If you are looking for a pup, either adopt a puppy from the local rescue or buy from a reputable breeder that won't sell you a sick/traumatized pet. Man, if this wasn't the ONLY place on the peninsula I can get what I need for my tarantulas I wouldn't ever step another foot in here. The overwhelming smell of perfume to deodorize the urine smell burns my nose in as little as 2 minutes. Today all their wax worms were dead which is pretty normal, so I waited several minutes to get some help. The woman told me 3 times she would help me soon but just stood at the end of another aisle. We got our what was told to us was a mini Aussie, who is actually a toy Aussie and possibly mixed. Poor Koda Bear has many health issues! Stomach problems, skin issues, and GI issues. All common problems with puppy mill puppies. We love our Bear and wouldn't change getting him. But be aware! Another warning DO NOT use the finance option. The company they work with tricks you into paying 3x what you originally paid! They tell you 24 payments for 12 months and then change it to 48 payments over 24 months! Those poor animals. Tropical Fish! We've always used Farmland as one of our sources for livestock feed and bedding. I always thought the store itself was crowded and short on space, but appreciated how often they had what I needed. I've recently discovered what a gem this store is for tropical fish hobbyists. Angelo and Desiree are very helpful and knowledgeable and there is a facebook group "Kitsap County Aquarium Club" where you can hear from local hobbyists and get updated lists of plants and fish - as soon as they come in. I recently added some Lake Kutubu Rainbows. They'd been on my want list for a while now. Not that it was needed, but they came with a generous guarantee . The group is healthy and thriving. I've also been very pleased with plants. The Aponogeton Ulvaceus has been amazing and the Crypts are lovely, multiple plants per pot and none of the typical dieback so common with Crypts. read more

Honestly, I can't understand how anyone can look at this place and not feel disgusted. It's filthy. It's cluttered with stuff up to the ceiling. But the worse part - the condition of the animals. They're kept in sad little cages. The room where they keep puppies is tiny, the cages are bare. Like, really. Would it kill Farmland to put a blanket or a toy in there? Worse still, the puppies are from puppy mills. It's hard to look these fur babies in the eyes and walk away, knowing they're from irresponsible breeders. Farmland takes advantage of the love and compassion people have for animals. We see these poor, often unhealthy puppies and we want to save them. Farmland makes a nice profit and then more puppies from the mills are shipped over again. People who don't think it's a big deal where the puppies come from are either horribly misinformed or they just don't care much for animals. These puppies are bred purely for money, with no care for their (or their mother's) health or temperament. The conditions are terrible. The way they are treated is terrible. Why is Farmland supporting this industry? Please don't shop here. There are other places to purchase farm supplies. And there are plenty of animals in the shelters who need a home, or even professional breeders if there's a particular breed you're looking for. read more

I feel so bad for all those bunnies they keep buying from local shitty breeders but I stoped in to get hay said hello and pet all the bunnies and when I got to the bottom cage one was dead. We love Farmland Pets And Feed. When we were new to the area they were super helpful in pointing us to good vets for our farm animals and an awesome farrier who was able to rehab our rescue equines' hooves. They have a great selection of all things pet and farmland needs. Their staff are wonderful and super friendly. The negative reviews noted here are by people who obviously have a passion for puppies but they are literally and figuratively barking up the wrong tree. Although the bad reviews may also just be by someone who has an axe to grind and has jumped on the "puppy mill" activist train. If so, shame on you! The owner is an animal lover and all of her staff have large and small pets and would not endorse abusive animal practices. I love that yelp allows people to share their customer experiences but I don't like that yelp provides a forum for hateful and seriously disturbed people to air their vindictive grievances. That fact that people can anonymously post horrible reviews with the intent of creating public distrust of a business seems like a legally actionable situation that yelp should be very concerned about. Yelp, sadly, also provides an anonymous place for those who are not evolved enough to talk face to face with someone about their customer experience so that the business can improve or remedy the situation. Even though yelp says they suggest that. What they don't understand is the psychology of unevolved people and the fact that they are vicious , malicious, and hate filled and only seek to defame, destroy, slander, and harass people who had the wherewithal to build their own business and try to make a living at it. I work with children and bring them to this place at least once a week just to check out and connect with all the critters. The staff it's absolutely amazing, friendly and funny. A couple of kiddos I work with talked me into buying a GoldenDoodle from here last week, took the pup to the vet and he is healthy and happy. I have to say the best temperament for a puppy. We visit here every so often to look at the puppies, kittens, birds, rabbits, chicks and fish. I do agree with reviews that they don't seem to have the best conditions for puppies, but my almost two-year old enjoys looking. The cages are in a small room, so only a couple people are able to look at once. They have a large selection of products. As I overheard one employee tell a customer on a visit "if we don't have it, they probably don't make it". That being said... it's hard to find a lot of things because the store is very cramped. It's hard for more than one or two people to walk down an aisle at a time. I give them credit for being a little dirty and smelly as they do advertise being more farm-focused. read more
