These folks are the best in the business. They always take such great care of my little dog Bartlett. He comes back to me happy and healthy. I usually pay for a groom while he's there so he's also always so fresh and clean. I take it as an excellent sign that he's always happy to go into the office. We have been taking our Boxer dogs here since 2005. They took our second boxer, Skeeter from a pup. Skeeter knew them as a second home. Boxer's regrettably are short lived, Skeeter made it to 8 just as his predecessor, Rocky. Gus, is boxer #3 and he too started here as a pup and calls this his second home! We don't travel like we used to, but the kennel's owner's and staff treat the animals like their own. I have never had to encourage anyone of our dog's into the reception area...and even though it hurts my feelings, they nearly charge into their kennel area pulling a staff member along at the end of their lead. No sentiment for us from the dogs. They pay strict attention to dietary concerns, vaccinations and will administer medications if needed. We have boarded cats here before. This time I boarded only one cat there for three days and picked her up on the fourth. Before going there, I packed my cat's dry food, treats, and wet food in containers with instructions on each container. The dry food and treats were placed in small baggies. The baggies were taken out of the containers so the instructions weren't followed. None of the treats were given to my cat. I called Alder Creek and asked why but didn't get an answer. it is not a big deal, but would like to know why the instructions weren't followed? I have never trusted anybody or any business to pet sit for my cat, but I am absolutely loving Alder Creek Pet Lodging in Silverdale. The Alder Creek Pet Lodge is a little hidden gem in the Silverdale, WA area. They are tucked away in a neighborhood and that is okay! The reason for their location is because they offer lots of land for dogs and other animals to run around in open (fenced) land. My cat has been with the Alder Creek Lodge team for a few days, and they are extremely helpful and polite. They will send you pictures of your beloved creature via email just so you have ease of mind. The customer service here is outstanding! Since I only checked in a cat, I was able to choose the area where I believed my cat would be happiest. For cats, they have a top and bottom kennel or a side-to-side kennel. They accommodate the typical animals like dogs, cats, and birds but I am not entirely sure if they watch over more exotic animals or animals with special needs. The pricing is affordable considering how much you get with it. A typical cat lodging will include food, litter, and an exclusive kennel. They do require pet owners to provide updated vaccine paperwork prior to checking in to ensure the safety of other animals and themselves. Overall, I am loving this place as they take care of my kitty child. After many many local recommendations for Alder Creek I decided to leave pug-zilla there while I went on vacation. Where they keep the beloved animals is very clean, and when I walked through the dogs didn't seem to hate it. Each kennel has a doggy door to the outside portion of their kennel. I was gone for two weeks, and I was very nervous about keeping puppers there. I actually even called during that time to make sure she was alright. When I came to pick her up, she was happy, and she didn't seem too excited about leaving. Which means she liked it there. If she likes it.... I like it!! read more

I absolutely enjoyed the experience. We took our smallish dog here for a week with some reservation - not because of Alder Creek, rather because he didn't respond well to a kennel visit at a different location last year. Sad, lots of dander, poor eating habits - it was a bad experience. This was completely different. The fantastic staff was very friendly when we arrived. The lady who helped check us in introduced herself to our dog and made him comfortable. After discussing our dog's previous experience, she took the time to learn some of his likes and dislikes before taking the leash and leading him back to the kennel area. I don't know how to explain it - the staff seemed to genuinely want to be our dog's friend. The facility is very appealing on the outside and inside. The play area is open and large, and the options for playtime are good. After a week, our dog was in good spirits, had eaten well and didn't display any of the mannerisms we saw last time. I will never take my dog anywhere else when we need to kennel him. This place is the best! read more

Moved here from California and I have a big boxer mix who is a difficult boy. I always get nervous worried because I'm a worry wart lol anywho! Just picked up my two big dogs from a long weekend stay at Alder Creek. This is the 5th time We have boarded the dogs here, and each time I am more impressed than the last. They knew exactly how the dogs behaved during their stay, and had good feed back about their behavior. One dog is a challenge because of his size and breed; as a rescue dog he has a bit of social anxiety (gets along great with our other dog though). It's reassuring to know that they will be well taken care of when we are gone. Thank you! My only regret is that we opted not to have them bathed this time because we thought we'd have time. I was in desperate need of a cat boarder for my 16 year old kitty for only 24 hours. I spoke with Bailey and she was extremely professional and more than accommodating to my frantic needs to have a trusted boarder in the community. I rarely leave reviews unless a place is really good or really bad. I'll start by saying Alder Creek was the 4th kennel we have tried in the area. They are by far the absolute best kennel we has used. We have two black labradors, one of which has mild separation anxiety and this kennel exceeded our expectations and our dogs came back happy and healthy. Their facility is clean and they take pride in showing it off. That is huge for me because it's always a red flag to me when a facility doesn't want to show you where your animals are staying. The entire staff was helpful, courteous and kind. We will for sure be using them in the future! read more

For the last five years that we have been living in Kitsap county, we have always taken our dog here for about three 1-week stays each year. We have always been really happy with their service. However, we decided to try a new service, Fido & Flicka, closer to home, but had an awful experience. It made me really appreciate the service that we had received at Alder Creek. Will never board our girls anywhere else! We now have 2 yellow-labs and they love their "lodge" (as do we). The facilities are always clean and the staff is super nice. Check in calls are welcomed and when picking up the dogs, they are always happy and clean. We are fortunate to live close by, but we'd certainly go out of our way if we had to , to be able to board the girls here! I got a call 30 minutes after dropping my dogs off. I figured something bad had happened. The lodge called because they counted the foot servings I had given them and noticed there was one extra. This place made me reconsider ever boarding our animals again. We were waiting for housing, and unable to keep our cats with us, and this site was reccomended to us. It was teh biggest mistake we ever made- they told us they would place our pets in larger cages, together because they were siblings. In reality they split them up and put them in what was teh equivelent of a small wooden cell, separately. They didn't use the medicines provided for them (the bottles were still full), and when we visited frequently we got teh run around as to why things were done this way. They kept telling us they would be moved, that they were being fed X food, etc. Had I not been in hospital for a good portion of tehir stay I might have caught this stuff sooner, I wish we could have. By the time we understood what was going on and could line up other accomadations for them, the damage was done. The biggest insult and statement to the quality of this business: They tried to give us the WRONG CAT back. We had to point it out a couple times - NO , thats NOT our cat. Where is OUR cat? What reliable place tries to give you someone else's pet? What if someone else had picked up tehir pet and gotten ours, and not noticed? But that wasn't the end for us- Alder Creek overcharged us what they said they would charge at the end and I had to argue with them to get the amount fixed. We never even got an apology for all this mess up. Our cats have not been the same ever since this.. they are our babies, and now their personalities are different, and they have trouble eating - like they will never see food again. What the heck happened there that caused our babies to change so much? We may never know, but I sure wil NEVER use this site again. I'd rather spend the money on pet friendly hotels and keep them with us, so I know for a fact they are being cared for well. I don't know from other's experiences, butthis was hell for us and our pets. I would never ever use them again. read more

This place is awesome!! Alder Creek came highly recommended. I am a lover of my dogs (they are my kids) and after boarding them at a different facility two years ago I vowed never to leave my dogs at a boarding place ever again. Well, the husband and I needed a vacation and had no one reliable to watch them so after constant urging from friends and coworkers I tried Alder Creek and I was nothing but over joyed about the experience. First of all Irene and her staff are excellent. I didn't drop the dogs off my husband dropped two off and my friend dropped one off the next day. They were also very accomidating to make sure all my dogs were put together. One of my dogs has extreme anxiety he's been in and out of shelters his whole life until we adopted him back in Aug 2011. Irene called me out of the blue to let me know how wonderfully he was doing and how they got him to eat. I was so elated at that point and knew that I brought my dogs to the perfect place. When I went to pick them up I was amazed about how much they knew about my dogs. They were able to give me a whole run down on their week stay and even told me that the 2 girls were so well they didn't even think the anxiety pills I left were necessary. That to me meant they spent a lot of time focusing on the dogs and making sure they truly were ok. My husband and I now changed our vow and it is to only use Alder Creek from now on! I have boarded my dogs there for years and have had great experiences. The owner and staff have always gone out of their way to care for them and as my German shepherd is getting older they are customizing care around her needs. Everytime I get my dogs back they look great and are in good spirits. The kennel location is lovely with a large fenced area where each dog can play or walk around under staff supervision. We moved from Seattle to Kitsap county area about 5-years ago and needed a safe place to board our Wheaten Terrier whenever we travel. By recommendation we found Alder Creek Pet Lodge in Poulsbo. ACPL is a family-owned business, they've been IN business for 30+years and cater to all types of dogs, cats--even birds! The facility and grounds are squeaky-clean and staffed by a fantastic group of people. Grooming services are fantastic too. Short-term or long, your dog (or cat) will love it there. I have had to wait a few days to post this review since I have been so furious by how we were treated. Anyway...we have boarded our 3 dogs here at least 3 times. Everytime before our last visit was wonderful. Clean facility, great customer service. Everything you would want from a boarding place. This time we had scheduled to have our 3 dogs to be boarded here from July 3-6th so they would be safe and not so stressed out over the 4th. On the 3rd, we had our 3 dogs scheduled for their yearly exams and while we were at our Vet, they had their vaccines updated and we decided to update their Bordetella, even though it wasn't due until October. We told our Vet we were boarding them right after their appt so she said we might as well update the Bordetella since EVERY SINGLE PLACE WE HAVE BOARDED OUR DOGS HAVE REQUIRED THE BORDETELLA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When we arrived everyting was fine. The owner welcomed us, asked how we were and asked who we were dropping off. My husband brought in the dogs and their updated shot recorded. She was happy that, we brought in the shot record and started looking it over. While she was doing that I casually mentioned that they all just received their Bordetella. Holy cow, you would think by the way she flipped out that we were little kids who did something we were told many times not to do! She was so upset that we had the Bordetella done (she NEVER requires THAT!) and at the very least we should have waited 15 days after the Bordetella to bring them in! She acted like we knew this the whole time and that we contaminated/introducted illness to the "100 dogs and pretty much killed the senior dogs that we also there!" She was just beside herself that we would do something so horrible to her facility and how could we! She also said that she had sent out a letter 12 years ago to all the Vets in our area to not give the Bordetella or something odd like that. I was so angry with the way she was talking to us and couldn't believe this was even happening. I have NEVER been spoken to the way she was speaking to us. She had already brought all our dogs to the back and she was saying how in just that small amount of time it was already airborn (since we said we would just take them home since it was such a big deal to her) and she would have to scrub down the whole place! I started to get angry by how she was treating us at this point and started to lose my cool and told her how we and our Vet would NEVER do anything to put other pets in any type of danger EVER! I was getting offended that she would even insinuate that we would. There was NOTHING on the walls or anywhere else of prominence (you would think if this was such a horrible thing, she would have it posted everywhere and they would tell people on the phone when they are booking them). Anyway, I had enough of her disrespect and told her to give us our dogs and that we were leaving. She got them for us and started to apologize as we were collecting them since I think she started to realize that she was being over the top about it and treating good dog owners like CRAP. Like I said, it's a nice facility but I will never take our dogs here again. On our way home, I called our Vet to tell her about our incident with this place and she said (in her very nice and pc way) that everything this lady said is completely inaccurate and unfounded. Our Vet also said if we had told her where we were going (we only had told her we were boarding them) that she would never have even vaccinated them at all until another appt since this lady is notorious for flipping out about EVERY vaccine. I was also told that our Vet and other Vets don't recommend this place at all which says a lot to me. Anyway...Big Valley got us in and were so nice and accommodating and they do require Bordetella (plus they got the $350 that this owner missed out on). read more
