Farrell has been great to work with all along. I live in Paris and had my SF victorian house hardwood floors renovated after my tenant left it in very bad shape. Farrell did an excellent job at repairing it and has been super accomodating with the fact that we were dealing with choices of color through facetime and pictures accross the ocean! His quote was more expensive then some others but I wouldn't hesitate to work again with him because his work is stellar. See a few pictures of how he repaired all the bad stains on the floor.

Entryway after Farrell rebuilt it, with wood to match the original floors.

We purchased our first home, with hardwood floors that had been buried under gross carpet for at least 30 years, and we had no idea what the floor would look like underneath. Before we even had the carpet removed, I reached out to Farrell for a quote and a rundown of the process. He was impressively prompt, thorough, and responsive. I was worried that he wouldn't be able to squeeze us in, but he was able to accommodate our project dates without a problem. After the carpets were removed, Farrell did a walkthrough with us where he explained the state of the floor in each room and what would be possible/practical and I immediately found him trustworthy because he was so meticulous and forthright. Farrell was transparent and conscious of our cost considerations, and he checked in with us regularly throughout the project. The floor was damaged from being under the carpet and needed some repairs, and he was very helpful in giving his advice on which repairs were essential versus optional/cosmetic. As the project evolved, he offered cost-saving alternatives where appropriate and was always updating us on the total cost of the project. Farrell was delightful to work with and he did an incredible job in our home. I cannot recommend him enough.

Smooth satin finish, cat seal of approval...

I can't stop looking at this wonderful restoration...despite being heavily abused for 25 years, Farrell and Rick were able to restore it to a level beyond our expectations. I can't stop looking at this wondeful restoration...They researched the unusual wood (Merbau) to determine the best way to work with it, and it came out beautifully. Their experience and craftsmanship was evident from the beginning -- friendly, considerate, and professional; it was a real pleasure having them here.

Our job consisted of pulling up rooms of old carpet as well as an old kitchen hardwood floor, and replacing it all with 3/4" engineered wood from a Canadian company called Mirage. Elite's quote for materials and labor was not the most expensive nor the least, but when going through our house, Aleksey thought of questions, spotted issues, AND thought of solutions that no one else had asked about or even noticed. He was also the only one who told us that he could carefully remove our elaborate wooden baseboards without breaking most or all of them. Every other place simply said we would likely need to replace it all. As a result, their pricing was actually lower than anyone else if you take into account the cost we saved by not having to replace one single piece of baseboard. He was meticulous, measuring three times before ordering materials just to make sure he got the numbers right. Installation went smoothly and included work like grinding down areas of our foundation that were not smooth, moisture testing, coating of the slab with a moisture barrier, etc. They also made sure they installed the wood in a manner that will allow the kitchen appliances to be removed without damaging the floor, when the time comes that they need to be replaced. Again, no one else we spoke with even mentioned any of this. There were transitions between floorings of some rooms that were at different heights. For some of the areas, Aleksey did not care for the off the shelf transitions that companies sell. Instead, he and his crew crafted their own transition pieces & thresholds that looked beautiful and did the job. Far more elegant and unintrusive. They did the same for the transitions between stone surrounding fireplaces and one bathroom. Everything was carefully thought through. The guys showed up at 8 AM and sometimes worked until 5 or 6 pm if they were trying to get certain things done. They were professional, knowledgeable, friendly, polite and cleaned up after themselves. Communication with Aleksey was always good. Elite Hardwood & Flooring is not simply an installation company. They are craftsmen that take a great deal of pride in their work and the results show it. We could not be happier with the job they did and highly recommend them. Aleksey was able to provide me a quote over the phone and shortly after came over to take measurements. We had roughly 500 square feet that need to be refinished and it took a total of 3 days. I was super impressed with the finished work! One of the reason I enjoyed working with aleksey and Igor is because they also took a consultative approach and gave suggestions to help me find a stain that would work best for what I wanted to achieve. Would recommend!

Just was wonderful to work with and was very honest and upfront to what the finished product would look like. We agreed the natural color would look best. This is a very delayed review- I had my hardwood floors redone by Peninsula Floors last year, but I…read morestill find myself thinking about the experience so I decided it might be helpful to others to share. The bottom line is that the bulk of the work was good, I'm overall satisfied with the results, and am glad that we got the floors refinished. However, there were several details about the experience that would make me hesitate to recommend Peninsula to friends or others looking to redo their floors. - I was initially quoted ~7-8 working days to redo the floors. The initial work actually took closer to 13 working days, and it took another 7 working days on top of that to complete followup items after I reviewed the initial work. To be fair, I was traveling for about 5 of those working days during some of the initial work and probably caused a bit of delay in my own responses being slow, but I also don't think that all of the delay was due to myself. - When provided stain samples, I was initially provided the wrong names corresponding to the samples. This was only noticed because I asked for another set of samples in another area of the house and was confused as to why the colors varied so much, and asked about it- otherwise it's very possible I would have selected a completely different color than what I intended. - There was some damage done by the sander to our metal stair railing, which they did patch up with paint, but it's still visible where the damage was. Also, initially only some of the stairs in the home had the scotia trim replaced- when I asked the ones where the previous paint clearly showed they also used to have trim, they just added it to all of the stairs regardless of which ones did or didn't have it before. There was also a tricky area in a closet that I said I would be okay not refinishing, and instead it was sanded but not refinished due to not being able to get into that area- I would have just preferred the initial topcoat wasn't removed in that case, because that area is now just unprotected wood. None of these details were mentioned to me or provided as project updates until I asked about them. - Lastly, after I had sent the final payment through, I realized some of our doorstops were missing after having been removed from the trim to not get in the way of the sanders. I asked where the team may have left them so I could reattach them and got no response. It's not a big deal, they were less than $5, but later, after moving in, I also asked about if there were cleaning/maintenance products they would recommend and also got no response. Being completely ghosted after having dealt with some of the difficulties mentioned above really left me feeling like they totally wrote me off as a customer and was not a pleasant way to end the project. I think they do decent work, but I suspect they're a bit stretched thin and smaller/less important jobs are not supervised as much and don't seem like they have the same quality bar. If I were to do it again, I feel like I would have been happier supervising more closely from the start. Edit- I appreciate Juan's response (below and privately), however I do want to make clear that not everything was addressed as I was told they would be. For example, for the incompletely sanded and unfinished area of the closet I mentioned above, I was told it would at least have some form of finish applied, which never happened. There were a few other details like this, but at some point it was no longer worth my time to chase them down especially as we were getting close to our move in which we initially thought we would have far more buffer for.
