Don't go to this dental practice. It is a factory dental office owned by corporate whomever. Dr. Shapiro examined my mouth told me I needed a lot of crown which was BS. I have seen other people post that in reviews. The biggest weakness I see in this practice is inconsistent with care. I went every 6 months for dental cleanings and yearly x-rays. Dr. Shapiro doesn't come in and do an exam on you every 6 months. That was my first red flag! My old dental practice in Mt. Pleasant the young dentist examined you every 6 months. Then I decided to do InVisaligns with them, BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! You have to change your trays out according to your treatment plan. I remember I gave them a big down and took 2 months to get me started. I went in to get my trays changed and Dr. Shapiro hadn't ordered them. The ones I had were cracking and worn down, what good was that doing me? [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then they switched dental assistants on me because the other one quit. This girl wasn't half as good as the other.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] @ one cleaning that Dr. Shapiro didn't check my teeth on a six month check-up. The hygienist told me my tooth was cracked, so she called him in there. He told me I needed 2 crowns, lo and behold my old dentist said " I only needed one." I had a friend that went there, she was supposed to get 2 and ended up with 3. I wanted out of the practice so bad, but once U do Invisalign's with a dentist, they hold the treatment plan. The last straw for was when I had a 10:30 am appointment, I got there @ 10:15 and watched everyone go on. The front desk told me I had to wait because the back was full and they had an unannounced inspector there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The medical assistant tried to get me to sign a treatment plan and I refused. I am in the medical field and don't sign anything unless read.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The icing on the cake when I didn't get to go in for appointment when the inspector was there. I was brought trays for the bottom half of of my teeth and was never told that I need to keep wearing the top, so when I went back my teeth had moved from instruction the was never given to me.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was @ the end of my Invisaligns when this happened. When I went for the next appointment, I had a sharp dental hygienist and she told I should have been wearing the tray for my uppers from the last week[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. I schedule d to get the attachments off and get trays after that and have moved on. I found another dental practice I am very happy with. NO CONTINUITY OF CARE @ THIS PLACE. AVOID IT LIKE THE PLAGUE. So unbelievably disappointed in this dentist. Waited nearly 3 months from the time we moved here to get an appointment to be told that I have a cavity, and then I have to wait another 2 months in some pain. My cavity was just filled last week. A week later I had a little bit of pain on the bottom of my mouth on the same side put on the bottom and the VA finally gives dental coverage due to being 100% disabled now. So the VA gives me a few choices of where I want to go. After not even a week, I went to a different dentist who also has good reviews. This dentist just found I have two more cavities he said one would have been hard to see and the other one was clear as day but he said it's just a little sticky but it's still a cavity. My wife and I both thought the dentist was way too fast and did not give enough time to make sure we were okay. My wife is also going to be looking for a new dentist as well. Something else to note. This dentist office uses the old archaic x-ray system where you have to put your mouth on this little device that crunches your gum line or whatever and they take an x-ray then they go to another place and they take an x-ray then they go to another place and they take an x-ray each time making you bite down on this hard plastic thing that typically hurts. The new dentist I just went to has the updated device, which goes all the way around your head with one great x-ray. The only reason why I'm giving two stars instead of one is that I felt like the office was very clean, and they sent the x-rays to the new dentist's office. I wouldn't have even looked for a new dentist if I didn't get VA Dental benefits. I'm so happy I went to a different dentist, I really wanted to love this dentist as my wife and I met someone , right when we moved here, that said the female dentist is awesome, but the male dentist is kind of a jerk. I started going to this place five years ago and it was a pretty good practice. I would have a dedicated hygienist every time I showed up. The last two years there are different dentist and different hygienist. They've even hired for the hygienist positions. One of them was taking my x-ray and didn't even put the x-ray near my jaw. I just went in recently for a cleaning and right away. They told me I need scaling and they didn't even do a cleaning. I just have a bad feeling being scammed. I went to a new dentist and sure enough they confirmed that everything that I was told was not true. I don't need a deep cleaning . I have been a patient for 4 years plus, in the last 15 months there is a new dentist, Shapiro. Went yesterday for my 6th month cleaning and was told they couldn't clean unless I got xrays, which I couldn't afford due to no dental insurance. When i first started going to this dentist office in 2019 it was great. The dentist and his assistant at the time were the best. They, and is seems like almost everyone else has left this office that is being run by Dr. Shapiro. I've seen Dr. Shapiro on my last two visits and both were horrible. The first my bridge was loose on my implants. He wanted to cut it in half and foe a mere thousands could install a new one. The assistant was behind him shaking her head no. She told me to chew gum and it would come of. I did as she suggested and in 5 minutes it was off and reinstalled tightly for my insurance cost. This last visit after x-rays he wanted me to have a CT for $250 dollars. My gum is irritated and I need antibiotic amoxicillin. He said the implant may be failing and needed to see. If it was failing my gum on all sides would hurt not just one small spot. Also, even if implant was failing he would have to give me the antibiotic amoxicillin before he could do anything medically. schedule an appointment in January and had to wait three months to get in once I checked in for my appointment. I was there for an hour and a half for them to not even clean my teeth. They said that even with no cavities, I required a deep cleaning and needed to schedule that out two months later in order to get my teeth cleaned I've had no history of bad teeth ever. Went and got a second opinion from a different dentist and they agreed that Pharrell Parkway dental was not truthful in their assessment of my teeth. This place used to be so great before Covid and after Covid they've gone downhill I will not be going back since they can't seem to tell the truth or even do a cleaning, which is what their job is. Also, the doctor said that the deep cleaning is recommended because that is the only option and that the reason why they can't clean my teeth because it will be malpractice. I'm pretty sure if you were to leave someone in a bad situation and not do anything to fix the problem that is malpractice. I have to agree with many reviewers. I've been a patient before and it was fair pricing and good dental work. Now it's overpriced and poor service and listening. Went there for cleaning previously sent insurance card and X-rays and they charged $280. They stated it was what the insurance didn't cover. They did not check until I showed up. I am on vacation here at Myrtle Beach. My temporary bridge broke into half and fell off. My tongue was getting wounded by the rough edges of the remaining cement. I called five dental clinics and none could see me except this practice. It did not matter that the other practices could not see me as I felt I won the jackpot at this practice. I was very well attended to by Shelley, a stellar dental assistant. She took her time in fixing the temporary bridge and taking extra measures to secure the piece. Do not use this dental facility! I was told in Sept. that they accept Renaissance Dental Insurance and that it would apply to my first visit. My policy started the first of July. My appointment was scheduled for Nov. 29th. I arrived for my first appointment on time. There was no greeting. The receptionist started shaking her head and said that they would not accept my insurance and that I would have to pay for my services. I asked why I was not told in Sept. or two weeks ago when I confirmed my appointment. She stated they do not have the time to check with insurance companies or to inform their customers.
