Nice enough ladies but I got a horrible gel manicure. It was walking distance from my hotel so I walked over. The place didn't exactly look clean but I was in dire need of a gel mani The gel is in so thick and it's peeling at the base so much that I can probably peel it entirely off. This is only 3 days post manicure but I had this before walking out of the salon. I mentioned it to my technician. She took out a file and tried to file them that way but it didn't work. She seemed very annoyed that I even asked her to fix it. Of course I paid full price and gave a 20% tip. It's so frustrating that now I have to take the time and spend additional money to get this all redone. Go elsewhere! read more

Please for your own safety and hygiene DO NOT COME HERE. There were flies everywhere. They don't use new or clean tools. They move quickly between clients and don't do a thorough job. I'm very afraid I will get some kind of fungus after my visit. There appeared to be regulars there that they treated with more respect. My first plan was to go to Kyla Nails, but when I went in they wanted to have me wait 30 minutes. So I went to the second closest which was this nail place. Upon coming in, the place looked a little unorganized and outdated. I judged this place a little too quick... I decided to do a spa pedicure which was $26. This seems like the normal price for most places. So I sat down. When the pedicure started they put little tablets in the water. During the whole process, they scrubbed my feet so well! They massaged my legs and used more product than a normal pedicure. When that was done they painted my toes. The paint looks really nice. None of it is on my skin. This place was definitely a "don't judge a book on its cover" type of place. I would definitely come back. :? read more

She said they were worried because they hadn't seen me in a while. Yesterday was the first time in a long time that I go to a nail salon and leave feeling happy with the service I received. I called in 20 minutes before 6pm asking if I could go in at 6. Little Thui did my pedicure and Dung did my gel manicure. Both took their time and paid attention to detail. They were very nice and welcoming and did not make me feel rushed. Only downside is they could probably use AC haha. Either way, It is worth sitting in some humidity to get quality service and leave feeling happy with what I paid for. I have driven by Fashion Nails hundreds of times and thought to myself-next time I have some money and time. Well today I made an appointment like the other Yelp-ers advised and got there just as the place was opening. Fashion Nails is not big by any means and seems somewhat cramped but they make it work somehow. There is an extensive collection of OPI nail polish-which is a good, high quality brand. I had my pedi done first by a briskly efficient technician who seemed to move seemingly fast and had my feet beautiful. Then another lady came and did my nails. I asked her about popular nail colors and she said the older ladies go for pink and red; the younger kids love the neon colors and the women in the middle like me pick black or wine nailpolish colors. Fashion Nails will not remind you of any fancy Day Spas or chi-chi nail palaces. It is a very functional place that gets the job done for a good price. The view to the outside is a steady stream of cars passing by along Rosecrans. I could see to the back of the place and glimpsed dishes piled up alongside a small sink and some Black Flag bug spray! An elderly gentleman in a walker came in to get his feet done. I was told he had diabetes and needed to keep his feet in good condition. So not glamorous by any means, but I am able to overlook that because the service is good, the price is right and the location is convenient. Next time I have some extra money, I am coming back for their gel manicure-for $25, it stays good for 2 weeks! read more

Staff here are very friendly, and prices are moderate. They have a very good selection of OPI, and China Glaze nail polishes. Massage chairs are great, and nails look beautiful when done. The DIGS- Scary. Sketchy. & Overly crowded. Yep, that about describes it. The 'gel' MANICURE- decent job at soaking the hands, trimming the cuticles, filing/cutting of nails. Gel polish application and UV time seemed uneven between my two hands... I was a bit concerned as the less time the polish has to cure, the more likely it is to peel faster. The final UV sesh was long though, so I was kinda happy. A side note, a different salon spoils me by applying sunscreen to my hands to protect from the UV light, a nice and caring touch that was sort of missed. The 'spa' PEDICURE- sitting in the massage chair getting pampered is always relaxing. And my feet did get amazing treatment. From the soaking, tickling (or as they call it using the pumice stone), applying the gritty scrub then the refreshing mask and finally the lotion all massaged in, I was in pampering heaven. My nails looked pretty once I left. ... 2 days later.... Fingers still looking fly. Toes however not so much, hello chips! Did I cause this? Hmm, no have not done much. And to my shock, my mother's pedicure chipped also. So it couldn't have been the polish selection either. Annoyed at the above, because despite the lack-luster appearance of this place, I actually kinda liked the treatment. I finally went in to see if we could fix my toes and the lady just slops on some polish (sans top coat until I ask) and sends me off. -Few days after the last encounter... the polish on toes and fingers began to chip. Please reconsider going here. I made an appointment for the other day and got in right away which was great. They started my pedicure but then when they were cutting my toenails the lady dug SO deep on the side of my toe. I literally started tearing up because it hurt so bad. I am young so I ALWAYS try to be respectful and not say anything even if I'm uncomfortable but it hurt so bad I said something. The lady just said sorry then proceeded to do it again. I spoke up again and she finally stopped. The rest of the pedicure was fine and my toes look great. Now for the manicure I asked for a full set. After applying the nails they use a rolling nail file. The lady (different one from pedicure) was filing them with this tool and kept hitting my cuticle on the side of my nail SO hard. It hurt SO bad and it even started bleeding. She did this to all of my nails and all they could say was "sorry!" They are NOT professionals. I will give it to them that they did a fair job but it was NOT worth the pain. People come to the nail salon to relax and enjoy. I would say my experience was quite the opposite. read more

i read the reviews about this place and was excited to try so I made an appointment for 1215. Everything was finished at 2:23... I wouldn't mind a 2 hour manicure and pedicure if it had been very thorough and worth it, but it wasn't. She started with my pedicure by bringing a mobile foot spa to soak my feet in while i sat . 15 min later i realize that there are THREE open massage chairs for pedicures that I should have been sitting enjoying the back massager instead. Yes i should have realized this earlier, but why didn't she offer? She veryyy slowly removed my cuticles and filed my toes. I didn't even need them clipped. There was 10 seconds scrubbing on my heels and rough areas and a slight calf rub with lotion. Once I left i noticed that one of my toes was smudged bc she didn't use any toe separators while painting so it had rubbed up against another...I've never been to a nail place that doesn't use tissue to separate your toes. That was the pedicure which somehow took forever. Onto my nails. I told her I wanted to keep my length and square shape that I had. She filed down the nails on my right hand with a square tip, but kept the length on my left and but rounded and pointed the tips! I was trying out the shellac gel polish, so once she was done filing she told me i had to wait until another womans nails were drying under the uv light dryer. 15 minutes go by. My turn, another woman who was in the middle of a manicure had to come over and paint the gel on. The gel looks fine, it's the pointy tips on one hand and the square tips on the other I'm unhappy with. $40 later, I am very dissatisfied with the weak pedicure and manicure I received which left me with smudged toes, still rough heels, and opposite looking hands. The part that still leaves me amazed is that such a half-assed job took 2 hours. read more

They were kind and everything but for the way my fingers look compared to how much I spent I'm ashamed at myself for not saying anything! I LOVE Fashion Nails! I started going here because it's close to my house, but continue to come here because they are awesome. WAY better than the scam/unfriendly joints in PB. The GEL manicure is AWESOME. Every part of the process is gel--even the nail color. It's a little more expensive at $25, but it's not acrylic and doesn't chip like regular polish. So your nails stay nice and fresh looking for about two weeks. To quote everyone else, appointments are HIGHLY recommended because they are busy in the mornings and on weekends. Worst ever. Got a pedicure and my eyebrows done. They cut the shit out of my big toe and when I woke up in the morning it was totally infected and hurt to walk on. And not their fault that my eyebrows wanted to be stubborn but after ripping off the wax they didn't do any touch up with tweezers or scissors and my eyebrows looked exactly as they did when I got there. I got their $20 mani/pedi special yesterday. I really really think its worth the money--and its so cheap how could you pass it up?! Anyways my nail lady did a really good job on my pedicure and its felt so relaxing. She then proceeded to do my nails, another good job, but I felt it was waaay to short to be over already -__- Ahhh well... One thing that surprized me was that they actually used OPI. I thought it was gonna be some cheap polish, but it wasn't. Def worth the price. OH, and its wasn't too busy when I got there with my 2 friends. I was worked right away. I guess the only downside is that my hands were soaking in nail polish remover for over 20 mins while I was waiting for my nail lady to finish my friend's mani. They definitely don't skimp when it comes to the polish. They offer the latest shades that some of the pricey salons don't have. The ladies that work there pay close attention to detail and are VERY friendly. They called me by my first name by my second visit. I love this place, and at $19.99 for basic mani/pedi I will be coming here as long as I'm living in San Diego. Quick Tip: they get very busy on Saturdays. So make an appointment! I think I'll give this place another try in the future... primarily because you can't beat the mani-pedi deal for $20. According to my room mates, the other services are inexpensive in comparison with other locations. A group of four of us went to get our nails done for graduation. Yes, larger group. I get that. BUT if the place was staffed with six people, why did my feet end up soaking for nearly 45 minutes? The math isn't particularly adding up here. It took nearly 3 1/2 hours for all of us to get finished. We waited about 1/2 an hour to get started. That leaves three hours with six staff members to complete four mani-pedis that (max) should take an hour to finish. What's your estimate? My guess is that we were in there an hour too long if I'm being generous. Well, apart from the time lapse, the mani-pedi turned out very nicely and lasted for a long time. Like I said, I'll probably go again... alone... when the place is fully staffed... and empty... and it still might take me a while to get finished. Good services. Good prices. Myself along with the whole bridal party I came in with will NEVER return and would recommend never make a timely appointment here -- especially with a group! We had an appointment for mani/pedis with a bridal party of 5 for over a week, yet when we showed up they were completely booked! EVERY chair was filled and the clients didn't even have polish on their toes yet. We were understandably confused and when we told them we had an appointment for 5 at that time they told us to just have a seat -- but there were only two waiting chairs! It was very cramped in there and not very well lit. The place honestly did not look very nice, nor inviting -- and the stylists came off very rude. We did not know when they would be able to fit us in even though we scheduled an appointment a week in advanced, so we ended up leaving and going down the street to Kyla Nails and Spa since they told us they would be able to squeeze us ALL in right away! -- best decision we made!
