My husband dropped his wallet outside of this business and went back 2-3 weeks later to get his hair trimmed and the lady asked if he lost something and she brought him his wallet with all the cash, credit cards, and bank cards still inside. Good to know there are still honest people out there. We really appreciate her. She saved my husband money and time off work to go get his new DL. They did a great job on my 4 and 6 year old today. All 3 employees helped convince my 4 year old to sit in the chair long enough to get his hair cut. My son was in a real bad mood and we were struggling with him. So it meant a lot to us when the employees helped us with him. Very compassionate workers there. We left and both our boys looked excellent and really happy. They are great with kids at this location. Our family really had a positive experience here. read more

If I could give ZERO stars, I would have done so! Wow, do NOT even think about going here! After calling in to see if they're busy or not I show up and the place is empty except 2 hair dressers. Both don't really acknowledge me until I ask if they can do a regular hair cut. She said, "yeah you can sign in" and I should wait. I sit down and realize the two hair dressers are just chatting and one of them is doing her own hair in front of mirror. After 2minutes and feeling dumbfounded I ask if they actually service customers right now. Lady worker who does her own hair in the hair salon (!) says, yeah but you have to sit and wait... And continues to take care of her hair while the other woman disappeared in back room. What a rough, gross, ridiculous place! I went here with a wonderful citizen yesterday on the last day of the month, and Halloween!! I was a bit scared at first... I give 4 stars because this place is purposive, basic, clean, and affordable. So a star for every adjective, there. :) There were about 5 stylists yesterday afternoon, and they had a steady stream of predominantly male customers, which made me think "barbershop," without the actual look of one...but still retaining a similar effect. The receptionist was beyond fantastic. The cuts were normally 8-10 dollars.....I saw several transactions transpire. They only take cash. No cards, no checks. I saw two APD officers getting cuts there, which turned out respectably, and it was neat to see so many different (men) clientele from ages 5-75 (I talked to many of them while waiting). I conversed with families who regularly brought their kids there to get a good hair cut. They were generally content with the results, since it can be so costly (and most kids hair grows so fast, too.) I want to thank them for making my friend very happy as well. (Priceless!) This review is from my mom. First of, when we walked there the day before she wanted to get her haircut, they didn't have their hours of operation on the door or windows anywhere which we thought was strange. So we called the next day to see when they opened. When we got there my mom explained what she wanted which was just a trim. For whatever reason they couldn't quote her a price over the phone because they said they had to see how long her hair was and it depends on a lot of different things. We walked there so when they told us it was going to be 15bucks for a trim! we were like well, were already here. The lady did an okay job on my moms hair although she cut it a little short. My mom wanted it shoulder length and it came above her shoulders. My mom wanted to pay with debit because she only had 11dollars cash on her and uh..sorry but what ever happened to fast freddys 7dollar haircuts?!?? They told us they didn't take debit!!! really, this place is so cheap they cant afford a credit card machine?? No where was there signs that said they didn't take debit and was cash only! so we had to walk around the corner to the gas station to pay a 2dollar fee to take money out. When we called they could have at least notified us that they are cash only, how many people are suppose to know that when they didn't have signs?? Never go to this place again, and I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there either! We could have got better service at supercuts! read more

Wow...wow... So, I get these impulses to do things with my hair. Sometimes it's just little things. Like last week, I decided that I needed a trim, just a trim, and couldn't get it out of my head. A couple days ago I was thrift store shopping, thinking about my hair, and ended up driving by Fast Freddy's and thought "They could at least do a trim..." essentially, I was still right. So I pull in, knowing that they'd take walk-ins. I waded my way through the parking lot filled with random garbage, and past the stereo-typical guys leaning up against their trucks making cat calls. At least there was good parking. I go in, and of course they accept walk-ins. It's kind of gross and dimly lit. How does a hair "salon" not spell like shampoo? Or hair even? It smelled like mildew, old beer and baby vomit. Shouldn't it at least be well lit? You're cutting hair, not mixing drinks for a living! I should have left then... A nice woman with a mustache explained to me that there was going to be a charge for a shampooing, the cut, and to get it blown dry, but I didn't have to get shampooed or dried if I didn't want to. I found this very helpful. I would have been very unhappy if that would have been sprung on me later. I opted for the shampoo though. She asked me what I wanted, and I told her a trim with long layers and swoop bangs. She asked me to repeat what kind of bangs, and I explained again, and tried to show her. She looked confused. I should have told her to forget it. While she was cutting my hair, random children would come up to her, and she'd have to stop to shoo them away. I'm not a fan of kids too much, especially if I'm not related to them, and I have no patience for them if I'm paying someone to provide a service for me, and they keep interrupting said service. I would have said something, but it's Fast Freddy's off of South 1st, why wouldn't there be little kids running around...? She snips and she snips, then finally she gets to my bangs...and she looks at them...and she looks at them...finally she starts cutting them, and I just close my eyes. I had this horrible feeling that I was going to have to do some damage repairs when I got home. I was right. I opted to not have it blown dry, and it was still over $30 after the tip. When I got home I dried it and the layers were more than uneven. My bangs...err...they were at quite an angle and I had to cut them much shorter myself to get the effect I was going for. The plus side was that between what Miss Mustache cut off, and what I cut off trying to layer it out, I got all the dead ends of my hair off and then some! I really did appreciate how honest she was about the different prices though. The downside is that I paid over $30, almost as much as what the guys that I couldn't get to see for another two weeks at Edelweiss would charge. Although I didn't expect Tony and Guy quality, I did hope for something that would be at least a bit better than what I could do myself. Also, that place has a funk to it. The star is for the customer service the stylist gave me, and nothing more. read more

1st let me say I know some of the lady's here have been doing it for 20+ years for Freddy's so please be respectful. They have kids they have husbands they have a life this is there job and they are there all the time and they do it well. I have seen pictures on there mirrors evolve from there boyfriends to husband, there there children as infants to teens. They have TONS of regulars (i am one of them) so if your NEW please don't think that your THAT needed. The sign in sheet is for EVERYONE walk-ins and call-ins. I advise you to call ahead and get an appointment that way you will never wait more than 15m. And BTW 15m is what they have slotted for you, if you take 30-45 etc you are taking up 2-3 customer slots and the tip's that go along with it so be prepared to pay accordingly. If you want some kind of AVANT-GARDE cut go pay $100+ somewhere downtown. And finally to those that waited because of lack of planning, those that did not tip, those that came in on foot mad hot and with attitude, to those that curse and think there all that since they wear a cheap suit for there yelp pic, glad your not coming back ! Ask for Yenni! I'm been coming here for over 5 years know and Yenni has always cut my hair. She's a true professional. I remember the day I walked in. I was actually looking for Kings and Queens but couldn't find it. I had an important interview for a job so I stop at the first barber shop I saw. I walked in asked who could cut a taper and Yenni raised her hand with confidence. The rest is history. Although the place could use a make over I guess the owner feels if it's not broke don't fix it. They could definitely use some better sitting and a bigger tv. Although the clientele is primarily Hispanic the and has been for years this area is certainly changing. Never have I ever had to wait so long in my life for a haircut. I walk in 30min before 5 and I see both hair stylists with a customer and a woman with two kids. I'm thinking I'll be here a good half hour with the kids probably getting hair cuts too. A man walks in with a woman and don't sign in, great they called in so I'll have to wait longer. And then another man walks in. All these people seem to be regulars since they don't even let the hair stylists clean up they just walk up and sit. To make it worse, this punk little kid walks in and signs in so I'm thinking he'll be after me. wrong! After the woman is done with the man who called in, he jumps up before the man could even pay and sits on the chair. Why have a sign in sheet if you're not going to use it!? If you want a hair cut here, sit in an empty chair! Or be a regular so you can have first sit first serve priority! I was here an hour and a half before I was able to leave after getting a decent hair cut. read more

My family and I used to come to this salon and some of the other Freddys because the prices were reasonable and consistent ($8 - $12); you could also count on getting a decent hair cut, and depending on who cut your hair, receiving professional service. Lately, though, prices are inconsistent ($25 for a trim sometimes) and the stylists are indifferent to the customer's wishes, concerned only with finishing and moving on to the next customer. I wish they would set the prices for each particular hair cut so the customer won't be surprised and unprepared when it comes time to pay. Prices here are advertised at $8 a hair cut. read more
