I lost my house key this morning during a run and wanted to get the locks re-keyed. I had used another company in the past but I decided to go with Fast Locksmith due to the positive reviews. I called Ben first thing and because I had to go to work, I needed an early evening appt. We scheduled for between 6p and 7pm. Ben called to let me know he was within 20 minutes. He was able to accommodate my schedule the same day, re-keyed three locks for me and it was less than what I paid in the past for a re-keying of the same three locks. I called, spoke with Ben and made an appointment for after work. I totally agree with all of his 5* ratings!! Professional, thoughtful, kind, quick ... To add icing, he gave me a quick tutorial on how to change my punch code. And the cherry was he drilled out a little extra space on the "catch" so the deadbolt no longer drags and the batteries will last much longer. All in less than an hour. Fast response and they maintained contact as to when someone would arrive. I had lost my original keys to my Mini Cooper and had to purchase new ones, which needed to be keyed. The rate was $270 for two keys. The only problem is, I still have to take it the Mini Cooper dealer if I want the keys programmed to start my car without putting the key in the ignition. My husband who dealt with the technician, didn't realize this because when he (husband) tried the new keys he placed them in the ignition. Was the techician aware of that? Fast locksmith was great! Exceeded all my expectations. I called them to inquire about replacing an existing lock with an electronic deadbolt. I sent Ben a picture of the existing lock as well as the new one and he called me right away to give me a quote and scheduled same day service. He even warned me that the lock I bought may not fit, but he would come by to see if he could get it to work. He communicated and showed up when he said he would. As soon as he walked in the front door, he noticed it was sticking (wasn't even the door he was going to be working on) but offered to fix it and within a few minutes fixed the issue. He replaced the deadbolt and even tightened the door, all in less than an hour. He walked me through setting up a code, using the key on the new lock. I have a Nissan Pathfinder that required a new electronic control unit (ECU). The dealer wanted $2200 to repair the car which included a new ECU and reprograming the ECU to recognize the old keys. I installed a used one and called Fast Locksmithing to reprogram the ECU and keys. Tony arrived and reprogramed the ECU unit and coded keys to match. It saved me a lot of money. Cannot say enough good things about these guys, especially Ronnie!!!! I went to 2 other locksmiths in town, and they said they were not able to cut a copy of my motorcycle keys, and were not willing to order blanks, or some other excuse. Ronnie was familiar with the key blank and was confident he would be able to cut copies. I was locked out of my car around 10pm on a Wednesday night. I had no idea who to call so I did a quick Yelp search for a locksmith. I spoke to a guy named Ben on the phone. After explaining my issue, he got my address and gave me the quote over the phone so there would be no surprises. He was all the way in Alexandria at the time (I'm in Oakton) and told me it would take him about 30 minutes to get to my place. He actually arrived in 20 minutes, sweet! He was super super super nice and had my car unlocked in minutes! Thank goodness! Once he unlocked my car, I noticed my car battery was dead. I told him the issue and without any complaints he got the jumper cables out of his car and gave me a jump start. He charged me the original quoted amount and didn't add anything extra for the jumpstart. It was just really refreshing to have someone who just wants to help you without ripping you off. I needed two blank keys cut for my Lexus and to my surprise within 12 hours of contacting Ronnie through Yelp messaging, he was at my house making a copy of the original key for me right in his van with a portable workshop. Very prompt too, both keys were cut and verified to be working within 15 minutes. I never knew how painless this process could be. I cannot say enough great things about this company - I called on a Sunday because I lost the key to my bike lock, and within an hour Ronnie arrived and met me in the shopping center parking lot where the front tire and my helmet were stranded. Not only did he efficiently open the lock without cutting anything apart, he took the time to make two new keys for a difficult bike lock, and he didn't charge for the keys. After my first update, Ben got my phone number and texted me at 10:54 pm saying he would like to give me the $75 back and wanted to know what he could do to fix my experience. Ok, thats actually really nice. I was unavailable to talk to him on the phone today when he was free, and instead asked to have my credit card reimbursed. He said he could not do that and could only pay me in cash because he would like to give me back my money or fix the problem. I appreciate that, but then he said "Will you take off the review like the all thing never happened?" EXCUSE ME? I find that extremely weird. When I mentioned I didn't want to be bribed to change my review he goes, "I'm just trying to cancel the all thing like it never happened." I did not 1. like being texted about this situation and 2. being asked to change my Yelp review. I wrote the update because Ben did not solve my problem when I contacted him a few weeks ago, and suddenly it takes a bad Yelp review to get him to try and fix the lock again or refund my money?
