I believed the work to be good but some simple caulking came un-done after on five or six months. They originally wanted photos which was curious since I do not want someone doing work in my house when there is none to be done. When I called to have them re-do it they also balked on doing any caulking. Moving on to a more qualified source. Again, Bob was a great guy but perhaps they use inferior products or just don't have the skills around that kind of job.

My first email had clearly stated that I needed some window cranks replaced, and that I had others that were tight but probably just needed some lubrication. I sent photographs, manufacturer information. I was told the person would stop at Home Depot to get the parts and would arrive at 9 AM. They said they'd just get extras and could return the rest or all of them if it was wrong. At about 9:15 she shows up, said that she was going to go to Home Depot after she figured out what was needed. I walked through the entire house with her, she took not a single note, but I was counting in my head. We needed 5 replacements. She said 4 (not even counting correctly, and also if she had known what she was doing would have realized she needed to know whether they were right or left mount), but she really thought the entire window needed to be replaced! She left for Home Depot and I'm there thinking - now I'm getting charged for a round trip to Home Depot because she didn't look at the pictures I sent? The next call I got was from the office saying this job was over their head (honestly it's not... I found a 4-minute YouTube video within 60 seconds of her leaving that explained how to do but this person was so clearly not an experienced handy person), and they gave me the name of a local window company. So I will get the work done, we're all calling it a wash, but I wasted a morning plus have waited a month. Ridiculous. I normally only say nice things, but I think the defensive voicemail they left saying that I hadn't explained what was needed made me want to tell someone about this experience. I went back to the first email I wrote, and it said, verbatim - "The windows in our house open outward with cranks, many of which are broken or non-functional. Can you fix something like this? There are quite a few of them. Let me know, please." We then had much back and forth with me sending the photos and descriptions I wrote about above. I did say later that I suspected some of them just needed lubrication, but since I had begun the inquiry with the clear statement they needed replacement, I did not repeat myself. Make sure to clarify the specific experience of the person they send. And make sure they understand what the job entails. Their "team" is not everyone shown on the website.

I hired Jerome for exterior repair and painting work and paid a substantial deposit based on his representation that he was a licensed contractor working with a business partner. That was not accurate. (I realize this was my mistake but the lies started from the beginning). When problems started, I tracked down the individual he claimed was his partner. He came to my home, confirmed he is NOT affiliated with Jerome in any way, and stated clearly that the preparation work performed was completely incorrect. The work done to my home was not just poor--it was damaging. The prep and "sealing" under the siding was done improperly and in a way that multiple professionals have since told me has led to failure and has required costly correction. To verify this, I brought in four independent contractors. I gave them no background. Each one immediately identified the prep as severely deficient. More than one described it as some of the worst prep work they had ever seen. There were also repeated inconsistencies about materials--what I was told would be used did not match what was actually delivered or applied. I never received the supplies that I paid for!!! At the same time, there was a pattern of no-shows and shifting explanations. (Everything from a diabetic-attack to his non-existent van broke down) ... I was repeatedly told he was "coming back to finish," but he failed to show up and the work remained incomplete. It became clear he did NOT have the skill nor ability to properly complete or correct the job. I ultimately had to terminate him. I then requested a refund for the work that was not completed, supplies that weren't provided, and for the damage caused. He has refused to return any money. As a result, I paid for work that was not done correctly, was left with damage to my home, and now have to spend additional money to fix it. This experience involved misrepresentation, non-performance, and financial loss. Verify licensing and credentials independently before hiring. PROCEED WITH EXTREME CAUTION - he will misrepresent who he is in business with as well as his credentials. His references are also NOT valid.

When I expressed my disappointment in the texture he dismissed me and responded by telling me the "walls look nice". However, that's not the worst part, the thing that actually made me mad enough to write a bad review was the state in which he left our house. He just left tape, smeared drywall mud, and piles of dust in every room he worked in. It was a nightmare to clean up....literally hours of cleaning! I have renovated 3 houses floor to ceiling and never have I had anyone leave a mess like Jerome did. He literally didn't even lay down cover on our brand new floors upstairs before he mudded, sanded, and textured. He also doesn't cover anything with plastic; we had to cover things with plastic ourselves. Every other drywall and painter I've used has covered everything in plastic. I kept telling myself not to worry, it would all get cleaned up....I was wrong and it cost me LOTS of time and $$$$! UPDATE: I saw Jerome's response. On top of everything else, he is not honest. We never said we'd clean up his mess and he knows it....hence the reason he couldn't post the "screenshot" he claimed he has showing me saying it. He's just flat out lying to save face. We also didn't "rush him out the door". In fact, he was the one who rushed out the door because he said he had another job he needed to start on in Castle Rock and we actually had to ask him to stay and complete the work he had committed to. Also, he didn't actually finish the work we contracted him to do, which is why he didn't get paid the full amount and he knows that's why. He said he'd "forgot" part of the repairs and didn't have time to clean up, yet he didn't mention that in his response at all....just said we owe him money...hmm. He also definitely didn't do any unpaid "extra work" like he's claiming. I literally paid this man $2,494....the remaining $756 (not $766) was not paid because of the work that was not done. He did offer to come back at a later date to complete the work he "forgot", but his texture was so bad and he left such a mess that I decided it would be crazy to bring him back! He also failed to mention to all of you that he told me before I hired him that he was bringing in a finisher with 40 years of experience to do the texture on my walls and charged me $1200 for the finisher's services alone....the finisher didn't end up doing the texture as promised, because Jerome said he didn't like his work and he thought he could do better himself. Lastly, I did have 2 (not 3) other people do drywall texture in other areas. I absolutely did NOT fire them, but I didn't love how the texture turned out, which is why I repeatedly told Jerome I was only looking to hire someone who was certain they could replicate the texture. Jerome assured me he could get it done right...but he definitely couldn't, as shown by the pics of his work. In fact, he charged more than all of them and his work was the worst looking texture of all.

Of the 6 or so companies I contacted, they had the best communication. I both spoke with one of their estimators on the phone, then later met him at the property. We spoke at length about the remodel I had planned and he answered a ton of questions. I never felt like I was being upsold. The estimator even said he didn't think the bathroom was is that bad of a condition and suggested it might be repairable instead I received a quote/estimate a few days later and it was both comprehensive and priced competitively (2nd lowest of the quotes I received). I ended up electing to have the tub/shower refinished and some other areas repaired, but had I decided to complete the remodel, Vacant Interiors would have been my top choice.

In April of this year, I walked downstairs in my home to relax after a very long day. Before I…read morecould sit down, I was horrified to see water leaking through my ceiling and dripping down a wall in the middle of my basement. I then looked into the adjacent bathroom and was heartbroken to see the ceiling of my just painted bathroom sagging with a water "balloon" from the same plumbing catastrophe. I had no recourse other than to poke it with a screwdriver to drain the water into a cooler. The next day I began feverishly searching for a plumber, hopefully one that was independent and reasonably priced. I could find none, so I opted to call a horrendously over priced company called Afford-A-Rooter. They came out and charged me a total of almost $500 to snake a few pipes and take a video of the main. Both the service rep and the office rep were unbelievably arrogant and rude. I asked them for an estimate to replace my old galvanized and cast iron drain pipes, and they quoted me a preposterously large amount to repair only a small section, which I turned down. Over the next several days, I searched very seriously for an independent plumber to help me with my repairs. I looked online extensively, inquired with friends and co-workers, and finally was referred to one person known locally as "John The Plumber" who I contacted. After explaining the job to him, he asked me to take photos of the pipes needing replacement and to email them to him, which I did. He didn't even bother to reply at all. Neither did 3 other companies I left messages with to attempt to get estimates. Finally I had one other large company come out, whose office clerk spoke to me like I was a naive child, and they too gave me an utterly absurd estimate to do a partial job, which I also refused. At least a full week after the initial disaster, I looked on yelp again and found Eric with Everyday Solutions. I called him and he responded within a day (on a weekend) and said he could come over to do an estimate early the following week. Upon meeting Eric, I immediately felt uplifted, as it was the first time in all of my dealings with plumbers that I could tell I was in the presence of someone who was sincerely willing to help me and had more in mind than serving his own or his company's selfish, greedy interests. He provided me with an estimate later that day. I accepted his bid and we scheduled the work to be done in a few different sessions, as it was quite extensive, and I was no longer in an urgent crisis. As Eric is not affiliated with any large, corporate plumbing companies, he is quite busy and his services are in demand. Therefore he had to finish some existing work before he could begin repairing my plumbing. But after what I went through with all those other companies, and the education I received along the way (they all have fleets of vehicles, uniforms, and tons of overhead which must be factored into the price, and all of the plumbers work on commission, so it is in their interest to charge you the highest price possible), I didn't mind waiting a few more days to get started. Eric's first day of work in my home was wonderful. He is a friendly, genuine, decent man who actually takes pleasure in helping people. He came over and got right to work on my plumbing issues. He took the time to do the job right, and was by far the most personable, respectful, kind plumbing and repair professional I have ever had in my home. Literally the complete opposite of the two reps from the two large plumbing companies who came over, both of whom had arrogant attitudes and talked to me as if I was an uneducated idiot who should feel fortunate that they were taking the time to rip me off. The second leg of the job required Eric to acquire specialty parts to replace, old outdated sections of cast iron piping, including a four way connector which isn't made anymore. Therefore there was some additional waiting while Eric took the time to find and gather the correct parts (all of which he paid for up front and billed me for later - try to find a big company who will do that for you). And, there was at least one incidence of rescheduling on Eric's part, due to his being so busy giving the same level of service to other clients. I learned patience along the way, and after the first day of Eric doing first rate repairs and spending the time needed to do the job right without overcharging me, I had come to realize what a gem I had in finding this very nice and rare service professional. This second phase of the job required two sessions to complete, and Eric put in an enormous amount of work to finish a very involved job - a huge amount of work for one person. The final bill I got was extremely reasonable and was very, very fair for a job of this magnitude. I did have one issue with a leak after all was said and done, and Eric came right over when I notified him of this, and fixed it perfectly and completely, all with a smile!
