When I asked the owner's wife why they chop -- actually mince --pizza toppings, her response made sense. "We think it tastes better this way." Personally, I think they're best served by doing it the traditional way. So we ordered a pie, half extra cheese, half pepperoni. Look at my photo. Hard to distinguish which is which. Doing a taste test, the side with pepperoni was a bit spicier, had more oomph. But, with the pepperoni chopped so fine, if I didn't know, I'd equate the taste to a richer sauce. The extra cheese side didn't appear cheesier than a regular pie. (I think back to NY's Rays Pizza -- which popped up all over the place -- known for its cheesy goodness.) Everyone's gauge of good pizza is what they grew up with. I think Fat Apple's crust is fine. Has the "fold" I look for. I also do the grease test. When grease slides off the slice -- pointy side down -- that's a good thing! Yup, theirs passed the test. While I didn't order salad, I noticed the table next to mine. Their Greek salad looked delish. And when we started chatting, the couple confirmed that it was as good as it looks. All in all, 3.4 stars. Meh.... We were in town camping fir a few days and didn't want to cook the first night. So we try to find a local place to get carryout from. We tried this despite mixed reviews given its proximity. Wife got the eggplant parm sub and I got a pepperoni pizza. Wife said the sub was good and commented on how good the sauce was. My pizza was meh. I saw reviews saying the toppings were "chopped up," and the little girl that took our order asked if we knew about the toppings. I said yes. But honestly, I tasted ZERO pepperoni. She asked me if I got a cheese or pepperoni pizza, so maybe it was an honest mistake. When my order was taken the little girl asked the kitchen hiw long for the order. "25 minutes or so." So I get there 25 minutes later. Only one two-top in the place, but I have to wait another minutes or so. No big deal generally, but the gentleman in the kitchen moved as fast as my dead father. So I get back to my camper less than 10 minutes later and the pizza is literally ice cold. Oh well, win some and lose some. But don't spend your $30 for a pizza and sub here. 1st time here; awaiting a surprise. Arrived 7p 16" pizza- meat ball and mushrooms + Philly chicken cheese steak with onions, peppers. We support local business and try to get out of routine ruts. We pass this accessible restaurant for 6 years- time to try it. The atmosphere most pleasant with plenty of parking adjacent to a Publix. Ten tables + seats (4) at the bar with light background music. Our bill was $31.34- walk out price. The wait for pizza was over 30 minutes. Disappointed. The meatball and mushroom pizza was different. I would have envisioned small meatballs or round slices surrounded by sliced mushrooms. Please look at my 2nd picture and identify either. The cashier visually confirmed my order. My wife's sandwich was mediocre. Smaller, chopped up, bread wasn't special When I arrived there was a couple at the bar. They also waited a long 30 minutes. There is nothing that can improve. It should've been a sign when I walked in at dinner time on a Saturday night and there was hardly anybody there. I went there once a couple years ago and it was less than spectacular. But I figured I'd give it another chance. I ordered a small pie with extra cheese. A year ago I would have left a 3 star review probably due to the doe being thick and after the pizza started to cool it became tough to eat. But recently it seems their crust is much thinner and to die for good. The inside is always empty which is kind of strange since they have a nice sized dining room. This is a very nice little spot at the end of the public shopping center. Staff was nice. We ordered salads and they were OK, on the way home. I ordered a pizza to take home. Once I got home and began to eat it lacked the Italian feeling to me. Again it was a pick up and so it was not hot and fresh. I'm sure that it was a very good pie when it came out of the oven and I will definitely try them again. I phoned in my order, and the friendly person on the other end took my order, read it back to me to make sure she wrote it accurately. She said it would be ready in about 30 minutes. It was ready and waiting for me when I got there. The counter person was very nice and answered a few questions I had about other items. The restaurant was cozy and clean. The pizza was cold when I got home (45 minutes later due to an accident on 75), but it reheated beautifully! It was also delicious cold! Zeppoles were really good- not greasy and not too sweet! I stopped by this very clean restaurant on Friday and had one of the American House Heroes sandwiches. As always, this was more than enough for lunch. These folk really know how to make great food, from pizza, chicken wings, sandwiches and everything else. The price is well below other establishments plus the owners are very nice & so friendly. We just ordered their fat five and a plain cheese and they are inedible. Cardboard crust! I couldn't even make it through a single slice of either. Their sub isn't much better. I actually just ate the meat from it the bread was so terrible. And it cost almost $70! $70 for pizza That is so bad I am throwing it away. I had lunch today and had the American House Hero sandwich. As always this is the best sandwich in Florida. Plenty of sweet tea and the owner kept it full until I departed. I also had two small house salads for a take home and they are a meal in itself. Both owners, husband and wife, make you feel as if you are part of family and that I like. Whenever I get back home, I always make sure to stop in for THE BEST New York pizza outside of Manhattan. Guy is an absolute master of pizza making and as he will tell you, it starts with ingredients. Guy only sources the highest quality meats and veggies and then cuts and cooks them daily to insure the best slice ever. Aside from the pizza, the sandwiches and salads are always great but the garlic knots are almost worth the trip alone. Just wow.... a dozen will disappear in no time so consider doubling up. Finally, make sure to save room for Zeppoles! The Fat Apple is hands down the best pizza in South Flordia and as a frequesnt traveller of this country, I will put it up against any NY style slice in the country...even some in NY. The service is friendly and attentive and while they do get busy on occasion, just keep one thought in your mind as your mouth waters...It can either be quick or amazing. White pizza. YES. 3.5 stars is my rating; rounding up to 4. I love white pizza, and while visiting family in my hometown of FM, discovered this local place for white pizza, which is hard to come by where I now live. (NO, white pizza is NOT made with alfredo sauce. Gag.) I like it a slightly thicker crust; this one is pretty thin. We ordered a pepperoni pizza one night (that one was for someone else, not me) and the pepperoni was actually chopped into tiny pieces that were so small they were actually barely perceptible! We were expecting normal, full size, intact pieces of pepperoni. We had to look really hard for the pepperoni and because they were so small, you could barely taste them either. Especially for what they charge, we were disappointed. I usually go the carry-out route, and appreciate the drive-up door on the side of the building ("curbside"). But I went in once for dine-in, and when our pizza was ready, they just called out to use from the counter, handed the pizza to us, and the pan was SO scalding oven-hot that my sister practically burned her palms on it. (Maybe they should rethink that process...) The pizza is decent and the menu is extensive, though I always order the same thing. If your looking for a good pizza, look elsewhere. I ordered a large veggie, I've had some bad pizza's in the past. But this was in the top 2 of worst I've ever had. I love a good crust. This was more like eating a dog bone. I gave it to my dog, and he was going at it for 2 minutes. I gave him the 2nd crust and he started choking. My dog can devour anything (except this pizza crust) I wish I was joking, but this was really really bad. I ordered 2 subs, meatball and chicken Parmesan. They were better than the pizza, but very bland. Chicken parm tasted like it was frozen, not homemade. Meatball was bland and mushy. Wanted to share our experience at Fat Apple last night. They gave us the wrong items as a carry out after waiting 20 minutes after they said it would be done . Went back to return the food and the owner (husband) was really rude and trying to say we ordered the wrong item. Argued that a calzone doesn't have meat in it. Simply untrue and we asked for meat which was not inside either of the two calzones. He was super reluctant to refund the money and said feel free to go somewhere else next time. We live in the community right next to the establishment and it is the general consensus with the whole community that the food is sub par on top of being treated poorly as a paying customer. Their hired help took the phone order and was clearly the reason for the mishap. We have been there a few times and enjoyed the owners (wife) conversation. Long story short, his choice of response has resulted in us never going back there in the future. read more

Just saw they finally opened. Placed 2 pizza orders. One 1/2 Sicilian with pepperoni. The other was just a regular. When I got there to pick up I expected to smell some yummy garlic. You know, it's a pizzaria. Well, it was very faint. The place looks fantastic. Small but nice. I collected up our pizzas and I shelled out $38+. I forgot that I also ordered some Zeppoli. They're pizza dough knots fried up with powdered sugar. Still. It was expensive. As we dug into our pizzas at home I noticed how tough the dough was. Even my regular pie was very dry. Definitely lacking olive oil and garlic. Husbands Sicilian was super dry and he couldn't find the pepperoni. Paid for extra cheese on both. Never saw it. Cute place with a cafe feel in a strip mall. So fresh and the crust is tender and chewy. We had the NY White Pie and added garlic, basil and tomatoes. Pizza Was excellent. Wings and fries were very good. Didn't appreciate the fact that every single thing you order when you dine in they want you to pay for immediately. And they upcharge 50 cents every time they run your card for every single transaction. Hence we order a pizza they charge us 50 cents on top of the pizza then we decided we wanted wings and fries they charged 50 cents again then I ordered a beer a charge 50 cents again ordered a second beer charge an extra 50 cents again every single time period they won't run at all on one check.
