I recommend this place and I WILL be back to finish my sleeve. There are a few other places on the street and Black Rose is hidden in the back of the strip mall. I think if they were on the street like Hawaii or Monroe it would be better but the are definitely a hidden gem. So I messaged Mike first thing in the morning on Thursday 3/1/18 about a tattoo I wanted to get on my forearm, he replied right away with an opening that day. When I got to the shop it was really chill and super clean which I appreciated, Mike and I sat down and talked over what exactly I was looking over. After a few minutes Mike went into the back to draw, when he came out he had gotten exactly what i wanted so we started tattooing. It only took about 2 hours and pretty much no pain at all, even with outlining, shading, and coloring, there were even some points where I thought he had stopped but he was still going. I can easily sum up Black Rose with one word, Fantastic. I have gotten both tattoo'd and Pierced here, by Mike and Veronica respectively and both were experts in their craft. I couldn't complain if I wanted too. Due to personal choice i have never gotten more then one tattoo per artist. However, I will definitely be going back to Mike for more work. As for piercings, I got 2 Dermal's in my forearm and a Helix. They were all quick and easy with no messing about. Quick and accurate with her needle (which were all opened from their packaging in front of me, one of my piercing pet peeves) there was just about no pain to speak of. Again, will for sure be a return customer. Just knowing of a shop that I actually want to have more work done at by the same people is a huge + mark for me. My Yelp review of my experience; Ok with you (since I mention ur name)? So...I reached out to the Yelp community to ask for someone who could pierce my nipples. I had a couple responses, but the best response was from Michael D. at Black Rose Tattoo in Orangevale. I had a bunch of questions about the process and the cost, and Michael answered all of my questions. We made an appointment. I arrived at Michael's shop at 2:30PM. I was finished by 3PM! In that short time: - Michael had me fill out some paperwork - checked out my nipples to see what size jewelry was needed - invited me back into the studio - had me sit on an elevated table while he prepped my nipples by: - cleaning them (alcohol pads, I think) - measuring - a spot on either side of my nipple - clamping them - explaining that this was the most painful part (I loved it though), - deep breath in, deep breath out, - piercing, no worse than any other needle (think medical injections, etc.) - installing the barbells. Pain? Minimal. If you enjoy a clamp on your nipple (as I do), the piercing won't bother u at all. Deep breath in, deep breath out. Michael will guide you. Blood? Minimal. Michael explained that he didn't want to tape bandages on my nipples, since my chest is too furry. But since I saw a bit of blood, he taped a couple paper towel slips on my nipples using bandaids. Follow up: Michael was correct. Just a drop or two of blood on the paper towels. Cost? $70. Seriously, only $70. As I write this note, I am safely back home four hours after my visit to Michael's shop. Still feeling great; will follow the post-care instructions to the letter. No soreness at all, though will apply an icepack as Michael suggested. In the meantime, thanks again Michael for a great experience. read more

Got a septum piercing done by verinica. Minimal pain, slight pinch which is normal. Everything was very clean and she only uses new needles. Gave me a paper with care instructions and seasalt. She has piercings herself so she is very knowledgeable in care and upkeep. Will go back to her for any future piercings. read more
