Tried the viral oxtail grilled cheese with plantains and another with waffle fries. It was all really good. The oxtail has a slight kick but nothing major. There's a jam on it too that was ok. Not bad but not my taste. Had the rose lemonade. Again, ok but not my taste. Definitely tasted like actual roses. Maybe a little more sugar would make the lemonade stand out. I ordered Fat Fowl from uber eats and I'm not sure if it was cause I ordered and didn't eat it fresh from the restaurant but in my opinion the oxtail grill cheese wasn't as amazing as the reviews suggested. There was barely any cheese in mine and I personally didn't like the taste of the marinade they use for the oxtail. I also had explosive diarrhea after eating it. The black rice is more like wild black rice instead of Haitian black rice which is soft and shrimpy. My bad for expecting Haitian rice. The quinoa was okay, not the best side. I would have loved some traditional Caribbean style rice and peas instead or maybe something with potato. The sweet plantains are delish as well as the waffle fries with this incredible bbq sauce and honey lavender dip. The shrimp burger was tangy and mangoey on a soft brioche bun. I went to Fat Fowl for the first time, and the customer service was absolutely terrible. My husband and I placed our order, but the staff was running around with no organization at all. One of them even shouted at me that I'd have to wait for dark meat--when I never ordered that in the first place. On top of that, my order was passed from one person to another, and I ended up waiting almost 40 minutes for food that was already sitting there ready. Yes, the food tasted good, but the service was such a nightmare that it completely ruined the experience. My favorite non-food based part of the experience is watching the chef prepare orders. We sat through his entire process of frying up a filet of their fish of the day, and it was magical. Watching him prepare our dangerously delicious oxtail grilled cheese was also a treat. I'm heavy on the lactose intolerance, and it's so worth it (with your dairy pills!). I stumbled across this place in the DeKalb Market Hall while serving jury duty in the area and honestly my life has changed for the better. One of my favorite dishes is rotisserie chicken and with the smells coming from this stall, I knew I had to order some. I ordered a 1/4 chicken with a side of fries, and currently costs about $14, which isn't too bad of a deal. The chicken immediately blew me away by how flavorful and juicy it was. Many places usually nail down either the flavor or the moisture but Fat Fowl blew both out of the park! The waffle fries were so crispy and seasoned. I finished the whole meal in record time . I ended up coming back the next day to order the same meal, this time trying the white meat of the chicken since they ran out of dark meat. The staff was super friendly and reassured me that the white meat tastes just as good or I can come back to return it, and spoiler alert, I ate the whole thing again . The stall has a few bar seats for you to sit in addition to the many seats provided by the food court. I went during lunch hours on two weekdays and it wasn't too difficult to find a seat but you may not have great luck if you are going with a larger group during rush hours. read more
