After a few reviews from some of my family members, I had to give this place a try. Customer service was good! The restaurant was very clean! I ordered a beef roti with buss up shot (paratha) and my boyfriend ordered a chicken roti with dhalpuri. Both came with tamarind sauce and pepper. Beef roti: I really wished that they gave me more curried potato and channa (chickpeas) instead of the gravy from the beef. Reason? The curried potato and channa was AMAZING and I wanted to enjoy more of those authentic flavors and spices, all of which the beef did not really present. The buss up shot was buttery soft and it complimented the dish just right. Chicken roti: my boyfriend enjoyed the flavors of his roti but said that the chicken, mostly chicken breast, was really dry. However, he said that the curried potato and channa (which was scarce) was delicious and like me, he hoped to have had more. I think if this could be something the restaurant took into consideration, the roti would be a hit. The curry flavors are superb but I really wished that we had more of it to give a solid review. I'd likely visit again and make my ask for more potato and channa so that I can enjoy authentic curry, which this place definitely gave! read more

I did not like the food, I ordered a soup only potatoes in the soup after I specifically told the girl that I want provisions in it and meat,ordered jerk chicken rice and peas and pumpkin the pumpkin was very sour and the jerk chicken was dry! They closed in 2020 after a decades long dispute over who actually owned the building. But they are back or at least the former employees of this Trini restaurant are. The former manager of 22+ years along with former employees and an investor have reopened as Gee's Caribbean a few doors down. I had the stew chicken, rice & peas, plantains and potato salad. I have ordered delivery from them in the past that was satisfactory at best but this last round was a NO and a HELL NO to ordering ever again. They ignored my Custom Note and supplied no utensils and napkins- despite me checking yes for that option (which I see now some places charge for so they probably did). I called the restaurant and the person who answered sounded like she could care less because "they're really busy right now". I could also hear someone in the background also encouraging her to just get me off the phone. Note: My Cow Heel soup was all potatoes. No meat or anything else really. Lots of good options for doubles in my neighborhood, but Gee's is my go-too. Quick service and delicious every single time. Menu highlights are the regular doubles, boneless chicken doubles, and goat aloo pie. Make sure you get it with both tamarind and pepper sauce if you like some heat. Love the rice and peas, love all the sides: callaloo, spinach, red beans, sweet plantains (although some can be a bit salty!). Oxtail was delicious with an amazing gravy (but a bit pricey). Curry chicken and stew chicken were both good, too, but I think could be a tad more flavorful. I'm planning on trying the jerk chicken next! The store is super bright and new. Service is pretty fast--the first time, the staff were super friendly, the next time the guy at the front was much less friendly. So, I ordered off of uber eats & when i tell you bad? bad. I got my food around 7ish yesterday & idk if they cooks were lazy but no. My jerk chicken was BURNT like I couldn't even bite into it. The jerk chicken is horribly spicy & i like a little spice lol not too much. I had a drum & a thigh & wasn't able to eat nothing but the rice & macaroni. Fond memories from college days, so excited this place is back. Very clean with big screen TVs if you're dining or waiting for food, which is a plus. Super friendly service, amazing value and portions for TGTG. Got the jerk chicken which had the perfect heat, even the small entree had 3 pieces of chicken. I used to go to Gloria's all the time when I lived in Brooklyn. It was the only restaurant I'd ever really eat curry from. The other day, we drove 1.5 hrs to go to Gee's because we "heard" it was the same owners or employees. My husband picked up the food so I didn't go inside. However, today, after another 1.5 hr drive, I went in myself and it was the same manager that I knew as a child (he knew my dad)!! He truly is pleasant to deal with and on top of that, the curry is still the best! Now instead of what was Gloria's, he's making a name for himself and still has a loyal customer that followed him. If you missed Gloria's, which unfortunately closed in 2020 amid a legal battle, we can all rejoice that the original staff, led by a former manager or Gloria's is back in action at a nearby location thanks to financial backing from an investor. That investor sure have good taste. The same menu could be found at this 2.0 version, so expect the all time favorites including curry goat, varieties of roti and don't forget the max and cheese, all chased by a refreshing cup of sorrel. Not only did I not receive everything I ordered, I received what was supposed to be a large oxtail dinner with extra gravy on the rice only to open it up to 5 oxtails no gravy whatsoever on anything not even the oxtails.
