Some places have a lingering aftertaste but Fat Miilk is pretty smooth, not too sweet (with condensed milk), and does the hassle of the dripping process for you! Firstly, the aesthetic of the shop is awesome! You'd think all black could be too much but it's just right. It looks great! Especially the art in the back and outside, that's really cool. The drinks were really good! I got the 16 oz Vietnamese Phin Drip Cold Brew. I chugged it, it was so good! My partner got the cold brew latte with caramel and oat milk. That was really good too! And it had a strong coffee taste, which I loved. Also the cups have a cool sip design on the lid where unlike some of the other lids, it stops it from just overflowing to you. Lastly, the service was really good and shout out to Fat Miilk owner - Lan! Cool person to talk to! If you haven't seen her on Gordon Ramsey's Food Stars, check her out there! Ordered the Traditional Vietnamese Cold Brew and the Blueberry Danish that was on rotation. The coffee is still great, and the scone was phenomenal. Crispy outside with crunchy sugar pellets. I'm not sure if they got rid of the original branded cups, but wish they brought them back. It would also be nice if they opened at 7:30am, but at least there is always staff ready at 8:00am to open the door. read more

This place is pretty good! I got the matcha latte, and it was so good. The matcha flavor wasn't too strong, but a good balance with the milk. I do wish there were more milk options, but this place was good nonetheless! They accommodated to all my requests. The baristas were super kind and explained everything to me, making sure to meet all my dietary needs--even with all my questions! I love a cafe that has patient and attentive service! They were also really helpful with explaining some of their specialty drinks. I just wish this was a study café and closer to home because I'd stay here ALL DAY--the vibes are immaculate. Next time I'm in the area, I'm definitely trying their Vietnamese coffee. I just KNOW it'll be good. As a Vietnamese American, I'm so happy I can support small businesses like this one. read more

Fat Miilk is a must for coffee connoisseurs since you rarely see Vietnamese tea by different individual beans. It will also remind you why that is. Vietnamese coffee without sugary fun milks is not the best. I was mostly disappointed by the space though. I had been expecting to be able to set up shop and work for a while, but there are no tables and the only seating is awkwardly arranged directly in front of the awkward staff. I did not have a good time looking around for the hidden menu and then being stared at by 6 20 year olds while I read it. I will be back to try more, but my original high expectations based on its reputation turned out to be fairly off. read more

I had seen this place on instagram and wanted to check it out- it definitely lived up to the hype! Only issue was I wanted more quantity as the cups were super small. Also, the area doesn't really have much around it so it wasn't the best place to visit if you aren't local to Chicago. The seating was limited but still there but in the morning can get quite sunny with the light hitting the windows. Been waiting for this place to open for well over a year, and so happy they finally did. They also seem to be expanding their hours/days open which is a great sign. I came here on a warm April day with my partner to grab some condensed Viet coffee, and the coffee did NOT disappoint! It was delicious! A very enjoyable Vietnamese coffee in the Uptown area. I was a fan of Lan when she appeared on Gordon Ramsay's food stars, so when I found out her business was in Chicago, I had to visit. She was also there working the register and taking orders, which I thought was very cool. The aesthetics and marketing are on point, but I will say, a bit overpriced for coffee generally. Pretty good Vietnamese iced coffee! I'm such a fiend for Vietnamese iced coffee, and I think they have a good balance of coffee to condensed milk. The interior is so cute and nice--the hundreds of coffee canisters made me laugh. It's really interesting how they dispense the coffee through tap, and it still tastes just as good as if it was freshly brewed. They should consider making more specialty drinks! I've been wanting to visit for a long time. The ambiance, interior decor and merch were so unique and super black. And although it was my first time and so excited, the service was not good. I tried to ask the barista Sean/Shawn a question on his recommendation and he responded very coldly and short. Yesterday I got the vietnamese traditional coffee with condensed milk in the small size and it was amazing. I liked that it was not too sweet and not too bitter. The small was the perfect amount of caffeine for me not to shake and for me to also get the work I needed done. I found the place unplanned after having dimsum about 1 block away. Very nice cafe, clean and friendly. I always wanted to try Robusta beans and it does not disappoint. I did not order the standard Vietnamese with super sweet condensed milk and concentrated. I got their drip and Robusta blend I think. I bought some beans and have enjoyed 2 bags of them and have new appreciation of the Robusta for pour over and espresso. Good job. I will stop by again for sure when I am in Chicago area. read more

I stopped by for the first time a few months ago. The staff seemed bothered to explain the differences between there beverages, as the menu lacked clarity. Overall the beverage was ok, but left feeling like i was an inconvenience instead of a welcome new patron. read more

So, I think I'm in love with this place. The first time we went, were recommend the classic coffee with condensed milk, and it was genuinely amazing. Especially since Uptown is not exactly know for their coffee scene, the addition of Fat Miilk is quite possibly the only thing keeping us going at this point. The inside is slick and modern, with giant windows that let in tons of natural light. Theg also look right down Argyle street, so you get prime people watching here. The staff are just the coolest, so helpful, and have the type of smiles that remind you life is amazing. If you're in the area, you should definitely swing by. This place is special! I stopped in around 9 AM on a Saturday morning and it was busy, but not packed. The cafe is sleek, and feels pretty open with some bar seating and big windows. Walking in I was immediately greeted by both employees behind the coffee bar. The line moved quickly and the employee working the register was also very friendly. I ordered their traditional Vietnamese iced coffee, which they prepared very quickly. My drink was delicious! It was perfectly balanced between the high quality coffee and condensed milk. Sleek, minimalist vibes with coffee price on the bit of the high side, but I love supporting women owned small businesses so here I am! The marketing alongside the vibes is nice but not cozy. There aren't many chairs to work from or even chat with friends with. Definitely more like a grab and go place. However, the coffee itself is DELICIOUS!
