The good is amazing. The service and ambience is great. They have a large selection of healthy food and bakery. Eat in or take out. The staff is very attentive and quick service. Very clean and easy to order your food and they delivered it to your table.

One of the best breakfast spots you'll find! It's in the name -- massive portions, made from scratch. So many options from pancakes, omelets, and other specialty breakfasts. They also have a bakery option that is quicker than sit down. It's a cozy atmosphere, they place blankets on chairs in the winter! Many fun coffee, tea, and other drink options. Service is good, and they work quickly to manage all the guests! Reservations available online and recommended during peak hours.

Colossal Cafe is a home run! Lots of vegetarian options. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and happy to assist. It felt like I was stepping into someone's home where I knew I would be taken care of as I enjoyed a homemade breakfast. I ordered the Korean Beef Bowl and added their homemade hot salsa, which was delicious. My boyfriend ordered the Biscuits and Gravy: Wild Mushroom, and it was very rich, creamy, and fresh. Though we did not order a bakery item, I was tempted by the Blue Cheese, Spinach, Green Onion Biscuit. Next time! Seating was comfortable and loved being able to sit by the window.

We had a great breakfast here. One pancake with a side of sausage was more than enough and so tasty. We also had oatmeal with a side of fruit that was very good and more than enough.

This place was on our Triple D tour. We ate breakfast here as it opens early. Got the pancakes with apple and Brie cheese. I was scared to try Brie but since Guy ate it so did I. It was so good and I'm glad I tried it such a good combination! Also got a Cuban sandwich for the road and it was amazing even a few hours later.

It'd been a few years since we've been up to the area... New location...New owner... Same fantastic food and service...and a nice sidewalk seating area to enjoy the day. Colossal Cafe, the little restaurant that serves up colassal portions and flavor! The wild rice and mushroom biscuits and gravy was delicious and Terri's omelet was too tempting not to steal a bite or two from!

The food was amazing but the hospitality was even better! We came with a party of 16 on a Sunday morning around 11am, and we were seated in about 20 minutes. The staff did everything they could to give us the largest tables and sit everyone comfortably, even offering some ppl who had finished their food and were chatting over coffee free cookies to move so we could sit. The owner was also there and was super sweet. Not sure if it's a Minnesota thing, but we couldn't stop talking about how nice the staff were, and it's not like they were doing it for more tip since we paid before at the counter. The food came out pretty quickly and once we started eating everyone was blown away. I got the lemon ricotta pancakes were so fluffy and perfect, and my friend loved her apple walnut brie pancakes too. The sausage omelette wasn't necessarily anything special, but maybe that's because we asked for no cheese.

Back in December, I had food catered from Colossal Cafe's Grand Avenue location. I loved everything that I had ordered, including an egg bake and dessert. Last month, I was in town for five days. I wanted to give this location on Como Avenue a try and say that I had visited both locations. I like this cafe's take-and-bake menu. You order by Wednesday and pick up your order on Thursday. You can also order by Friday and pick up on Saturday. Last December, I did the latter at the other location. Since I was leaving the Twin Cities on Sunday last month, I placed an order on Wednesday. I set my pickup date and time for Thursday at 4:30 pm. Eagan got dumped with heavy, wet snow on Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, the city got roughly six inches of snow. After working from my hotel room and calling it a day, I dug my rental car out of the snow and drove over to this cafe. I found that parking was much easier at this location. It could be because no one wanted to go anywhere thanks to the snow. I found a spot steps away from the cafe and walked in. I noticed that the chairs were upside down on the tables. Maybe it was another sign why I didn't have any issues. The place was technically closed. I had these nicest chat with a male staffer who had my order ready. This cafe closes at 2 pm, but has set up time after dine-in hours for pickup orders. I was the last order for the day. I'm so glad that I didn't make it 8 pm! He was the nicest person. He said that if I ever did a pickup on Saturdays, I'd also see him there. Nice! It's funny that I've never dined in. I should. He handed me my bag of goodies. I thanked him, wished him a great evening, and headed to my car. I got back to my hotel after having run a few errands. I placed everything in the fridge. I got the following items: - Handmade lemonade - 1 quart - Roasted potatoes and carrots - Egg bake - Meatloaf A couple of hours later, I had the handmade lemonade. It was excellent. It had a hint of sweetness, which is exactly how I like lemonade. The lemon flavour was so good. I would return for this drink alone. The egg bake was yummy. Think a western or Denver omelette, but with bacon and in a loaf. It was delicious. I am all for onions and bell peppers with bacon. The eggs were perfect. I got upgraded to a suite at the hotel. I had no idea that each suite had an oven. I had to use it. For lunch on Thursday, I heated up my veggies and meatloaf in the oven This meal was so good. The meatloaf was comforting. It was flavourful and had the perfect moisture. The roasted carrots and potatoes were the best side dish for the meatloaf. I loved this pairing. I got three meals out of them. It was nice to have a few meals taken care of during my trip. I definitely felt at home reheating my food in my kitchenette. Colossal Cafe was such a great find. I am now a fan of both locations. Great food. Great lemonade. Great staff. I'll be back. (94)

Very cool brunch spot in this charming neighborhood. It's popular at peak brunchtime hours, and because you line up at the cashier and order there before finding a table, busy periods might be more frustrating. But I like that model when it's not a long/slow line. There is some really good, interesting food; interesting enough that I've never had anything "standard" here. There is always an inventive special on the menu board, and they have things like Korean Beef Breakfast Burrittos and Scandinavian Frittatas with trout, potatos, and cream cheese. This last time I had an eggs benedict special that had corned beef, swiss cheese, and a "thousand island hollandaise". That was just okay. Again, you order at the cashier from a large, overwhelming menu board so it might be less obvious that you can get straightforward breakfast plates as well. They also have displayed baked goods you can take with you like croissants, scones, and macarons. I got some really good macarons once. The ambiance is very urban. It's got that look and that bustle. It can get crowded. I like being here.

We stopped in for breakfast on Friday before Mother's Day and it was packed with a line out the door. You order at the counter and then find a seat, but with it being so busy, they had a "hostess" who would point you to a seat prior to ordering. This system worked great and helped the line move quickly and get people seated. We shared a cinnamon roll and I had the biscuits and gravy. The cinnamon roll was massive and covered in frosting. It was amazing. The biscuit and gravy was a little disappointing. The biscuit was large but so large, there wasn't enough gravy. The gravy was also thinner than I like it. It was loaded with pork and bison but lacked flavor/spice. Overall, I will definitely return but try something different or just get the cinnamon roll :).

There was a long line on a Sunday morning, but they were very efficient and seated people right after ordering at the counter. It has a fun brunch vibe and the food was great. We tried the Benedict special, which was fantastic and unique. The pancakes were very thick and fluffy-- we couldn't get through half of the stack because they were so filling. The brewed coffee was free self serve refills. The pastries and other food all looked delicious too, so we will be back to try more! Staff was really friendly and there's street parking surrounding the building.

It's a really cozy moody interior, with *no big lights* aka great low lighting and comfy seating options. When we went, there were just a few other parties there so pretty quiet. I liked that we had a whole corner to ourselves with a sectional couch of sorts and some chairs. They close at 10pm on a Friday night, which felt absurdly early for a cocktail bar. But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

This is the best meal that we have had across the US in a LONG time! Thank you thank you thank you,…read moreKhue's Kitchen, for existing! We were traveling out of MN for work and heading back to Chicago. During our work trip, we had some pretty disappointing gross fried food. Knowing we wanted to have dinner before leaving for home; however, we weren't expecting much. Khue's Kitchen had great reviews on Yelp and availability for us. After placing the reservation, I noticed a very short menu that left me uneasy. Guys, DO NOT FRET ABOUT THE MENU! It is perfectly curated. We got the Chicken Salad, Pork Fried Rice and Pork Chop. Chicken Salad: Literally moaning at our tables. OMG... it doesn't even need the chicken to be good. The fish sauce dressing is what makes this dish. I could eat this everyday. I will be trying to recreate this at home until I can make it back to MN. And the prawn chips - genius! You can make anyone eat veggies on a shrimp chip! Roast Pork Fried Rice: I thought for sure this was cooked on a wok with a higher than thou BTU flame. Eric, the owner, informed me it is not. How can that be?! How can you get that flavor, soulfulness, crispiness, tenderness into this dish without a wok?! Pure magic! The chili crunch is a nice bite. (FYI - took some home and had leftovers for lunch. This dish is even better the next day!) Pork Chop: Nice char and flavor. Not dry at all. We walked into this restaurant without any research. Didn't know who Eric was, his lineage or relationship with Quang, accolades... We walked out full, satisfied, overjoyed and giddy with AN EXPERIENCE, not just a meal. We were so lucky to have time with Eric who is so personable, thoughtful and FUNNY! He made the night for us on top of the food. We will definitely be back in August when we bring our kids for our annual state fair trip and they're going to love the chicken salad as much as we did!

The menu describes "Vietnamese roast pork," but what arrived tasted deep fried rather than roasted -- tough, flavorless, with unrendered fat that was still solid. Given the "lettuce wraps" framing, I'd expected something closer to ground pork; instead it was fatty slices that didn't match the description I envisioned. The thin rice noodles underneath were fine but plain and unseasoned, with scallions scattered over the noodles. The chicken sandwich was extremely greasy, and the heavy-handed sauce turned it into a soggy mess -- the bun fell apart almost immediately. It reminded me of Blue Barn's Nashville hot chicken (from the State Fair), but executed poorly. Maybe we came on an off night? Worth flagging: both dishes are listed as entrées but came without sides, and the menu only offers three appetizers. Depending on what you're in the mood for, it's hard to build a full, filling meal.

The Caesar salad has officially been added to my regular rotation. The jammy egg was cooked perfectly with a rich, yolky center that was still easy to slice. The Parmesan crisps were thoughtfully sized, adding great texture without being so large they scraped the roof of your mouth. The salad was evenly dressed, making every bite flavorful. The restaurant itself is really beautiful and it's also very big. I guessed 200 seats plus patio. The space is very elegant, and clearly a lot of attention went into the design. I would describe it as kind of modern steakhouse vibe. Dark wood, faux fur and leather finishes, etc. Elegant. We were seated at a booth by the bar with a big window view of the patio and parking lot. We were immediately slightly offput because the marble ledge separating the booth from the window was dirty - grease and little food crumbs. Not the best first impression. The booth and table were both clean though. Our waitress, Ash, did provide good service but I would say honestly she was a bit too attentive if that makes sense, and she was also too chatty for us. There were several times when she lingered at our table to tell us something we didn't inquire about or to just talk about something. It was a bit annoying honestly. But the service itself was good. We were also visited by a manager during our visit. We each got a mocktail (it was lunch) but they have an impressive drink menu. I got the Red Rose which was really tasty, and my husband got the pineapple drink, which he also said was good. -We ordered the chimichuri shrimp appetizer, which was pretty banging. Four really large shrimp, each on its own piece of bruschetta, doused in chimichuri sauce. Even for me, with a low spice tolerance, it was just the right amount of spice and it was really really good. -We also got a round of oysters. The oysters themselves were fresh - no complaints there. When they were delivered to our table, the person did not tell us which variety was which (pretty standard when serving oysters at any restaurant). Because we eat oysters a lot and one of the varieties was sweet petite, it was fairly easy to tell which was which. But in my opinion, there should have been information given when the oysters were served. The other big issue was the shucking. Some of the oysters hadn't been fully separated from the shell, and we both found ourselves picking bits of shell from our mouths. We actually had a little discussion about the $6 price tag. I felt it was reasonable, my husband felt it was high. But for $6 apiece, the oysters need to be shucked properly and these were not. Ash also made a point to tell us all kinds of information we didn't ask for about their happy hour, which includes $3 oysters. That would be a steal if they learn how to shuck them. -I got the half french dip sandwich, and I was really glad I just ordered the half because what I was served was totally a whole sandwich in my book. The accompanying fries were delicious, crispy, deep golden brown and hot. The au jus served with the sandwich was slightly on the salty side but not terrible. And I do realize it's au jus. In all it was a pretty decent sandwich. -Hubby got the sea bass sandwich, which was also pretty tasty. I'll be honest and say that I think the entree sea bass would have been better. The fish was so good that I don't honestly think you needed the bun. But it was really good and fresh and delicious. We skipped dessert. In all, a pretty solid dining experience and the food was very good. But it was the minor things mentioned that bothered us, so 3 stars with room for improvement upon our return.
