If you're looking for a solid Italian spot in Flagstaff, Fat Olives is definitely worth a visit. We started with the fried artichoke hearts with basil aioli, and they absolutely stole the show--10/10. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and the basil aioli paired beautifully with them. We also ordered the Burrata & Prosciutto appetizer, which was very good (8/10). My only suggestion would be a little more balsamic drizzle and a pinch more flaky sea salt to really make the flavors pop. For my entrée, I tried the Belgio Dolce Pizza, a 3rd Place winner at the International Pizza Expo. The combination of house-made mozzarella, pecorino Romano, shaved Brussels sprouts, Calabrian chili oil, Molinari soppressata, local honey, and crushed pistachios made for a unique and enjoyable pizza. The crust had a fantastic texture, and you can tell they know how to make a proper pie. I'd give it an 8/10. While the flavors worked well together, I felt it could have used just a touch more seasoning to really bring everything to life. We visited around 1 p.m. on a weekday, just as they seemed to be coming off the lunch rush. Having worked in the service industry myself, I completely understand busy shifts, so this isn't meant as a complaint--just an observation. It did take a little over 10 minutes before anyone greeted our table, and our waters didn't arrive until about 15-20 minutes after we were seated. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. The food was fresh, the atmosphere was welcoming, and despite a slower start to service, we'd happily stop by again the next time we're in Flagstaff.

I had heard quite a bit about this restaurant as we have been looking for what would be the places to go with great food. Frankly, I don't know what the Hoopla is about and why it has 4 1/2 stars, but the ambience was cute. As to the food, I thought it was average at best. I had the rigatoni and I was expecting to have more of distinguishing flavors like I have had with other Italian meals that also have fennel sausage in it because I'm a big fan of it. This was very bland and when it was served, it was warm and not hot. My wife had the chicken Parmesan and it was served in a very hot iron dish which probably they should do for most dishes to keep it nice and warm. Hertz was definitely better and I would give it 3 1/2 to 3.75 stars for its meal, but it wasn't necessarily memorable. The server was pleasant, and after we were served, took a little bit of time before she came back to check in on us, and then as we had finished relatively early, keeping half of our meals for later, we didn't see her for quite some time. It was definitely getting packed because we had an early dinner and arrived at about 3:45 PM and frankly we're done about 4:20 PM. It was Father's Day so I understand Weil. It was busy, but that doesn't speak to the Food quality. I did have an orangecello old-fashioned, which was a nice twist on the old-fashioned, but just average in the scope of old-fashioned drinks Overall, it's my opinion that it is average at the very best and we are probably a one and done. One thing, however, is that the pricing was very reasonable and likely it is you pay for what you get.

one of flagstaff's best gems. The food exceeds my expectations for a small town like flag. we went during happy hour and they have great deals and you can beat the rush of people! The pizzas that really stood out to me were adovada 10/10 and ms piggy 9/10. I love that the pizzas have honey on them which balance the savory and spiciness of the pizzas. chicken parm was SO BOMB. It was creamy and flavorful, without being too overwhelming. Usually, it can be tiring to eat a full cream pasta, but this was well balanced and had me wanting more. Spaghetti and meatballs were disappointing. Bland and a little watery for my taste. Meatballs were dry. Would not recommend getting this as there are way better dishes. Tiramisu is light and fluffy. A must have dessert here.

Came in for lunch...also this is famous for being on DDD with Guy Fieri. Decor - Very cool inside with seats at kitchen and a separate bar area. Food- Pepperoni Pizza with fennel sausage. $16 + $3 for the small amount of fennel sausage. It was great but not worth the xtra $3. - Pizza crust was amazing and the entire pizza was delicious. - Spaghetti & meatballs $14.50 with a small salad. Way too much sauce but the meatballs were good. Wouldn't get it again. - Overall good service and glad we finally made it here. I like how they have a section on the menu, "what Guy ate". They probably got tired of people asking. CON - The "Flagstaff Service Charge" of 4% is total bullsh*t!

We stopped by this pizza place after visiting the historic U.S. Route 66 for a quick bite, and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Days later, we were still craving the pizza! We ordered pepperoni, meat lovers, and sausage pizzas, and all were equally delicious. The atmosphere was fun and lively, the service was friendly and attentive, and parking was easy with plenty of spaces both in front of the restaurant and in the adjacent lot. We would absolutely come back the next time we are in Flagstaff.

We went to Fat Olives to celebrate our niece's graduation from Northern Arizona University, and with it being graduation weekend, having reservations turned out to be a great decision. There was a line out the door when we arrived, but since we had reservations, we were seated immediately. This place has been featured on the Food Network's "Top Places to Eat," so it's easy to understand why they're so popular. The tables are also somewhat small, so things can feel a bit cramped once the restaurant gets busy. The food was incredible and the drinks were equally impressive. They have a great selection of cocktails, beer, wine, and mocktails. The Basil Lemon Drop made with house-made limoncello was especially refreshing on a warm day. For our table of eight, we started with the bacon marmalade bruschetta, goat cheese bruschetta, and the wood-fired stracciatella with prosciutto. Everything was fantastic. The bruschetta boards each came with four pieces, and the stracciatella included four crostinis plus plenty of prosciutto to share. For entrees, we ordered several pizzas including the Ms. Piggy, Carnivore, and Belgio Dolce -- the same pizza Guy Fieri featured -- along with lasagna, pesto spaghetti, and rigatoni. Every dish was excellent, and the pizzas were large enough to easily feed two people. Even after all that food, we still made room for dessert and ordered the crème brûlée cheesecake, tiramisu, cannoli, and a couple espresso martinis. I only tried the cannoli because I was completely stuffed by then, but it absolutely delivered. The service was outstanding. Jennifer did an amazing job taking care of our large group and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. I also loved the option on the menu where you can buy a 6-pack for the kitchen crew to show appreciation for their hard work. We figured one wasn't enough for the whole staff, so we bought five 6-packs instead. This would have easily been a 5-star experience if not for a couple issues. Originally, we made a reservation for 16 several weeks in advance. We received a confirmation the night before, but then got a cancellation notice just a few hours before the reservation. Our first phone call to the restaurant ended with us being disconnected, though thankfully the second call resolved everything. We later found out their reservation system automatically cancels large reservations unless they're booked as private dining. We also reduced our party size to 8, which helped. The other issue came at the end of the meal when the manager asked our table to leave. I understand we had been there for about two and a half hours and they likely wanted to turn the table, especially during a busy graduation weekend. Still, there were no time limits mentioned when we booked the reservation, so it left a sour note at the end of what had otherwise been an amazing dining experience. Overall, I'd absolutely recommend this place if you're in Flagstaff and craving Italian food -- just don't expect to keep your table for the entire night.

Update: We still love Fat Olives. Our bartender (Isla) last night was a real sweetheart and a darn good mixoligist too. We enjoyed cocktails, a couple Caesars, and a Ms Piggy pizza. Everything was great per usual. The space was lively and everyone was having a good time.

Oh my goodness, this place! I found out about it from social media and the Food Network. We were looking forward to eating here our whole trip, and we are seriously sad we can't eat here more often due to distance! You're greeted with a signed Guy Fieri poster hanging in their entrance. We were seated promptly in a cozy booth. The kitchen is open and you can see them tossing the pizza dough up in the air occasionally. Such a cute little restaurant! Michael (Mike), was our server and he was so great. He said he's been working there for 11 years. I told him how I knew about the place and he said the episode on Food Network aired in 2017 and things have never been the same since! I can imagine! He really knew the menu well and took the time to tell us about the restaurant and their certifications. This place is a VPN Certified pizzeria by Verace Pizza Napoletana! I love that they also designate what Guy ate on their menu. I went with the Belgio Dolce Pizza, the 3rd place winner at the International Pizza Expo in 2014. The pizza is white sauce based, with house-made mozzarella, pecorino romano, oregano, shaved brussel sprouts, calabrian chili oil, Molinari soppressata, local honey and crushed pistachios. Mind blowingly amazing. My oldest got the chicken Parmesan on Mike's suggestion and my youngest got their version of a meat lovers pizza. They each got an Italian soda and I got a mocktail cherry smash--delicious! Mike suggested their tiramisu for dessert--stating it's a modest portion, good for sharing. I told him we aren't the biggest fans of tiramisu, but he assured us theirs was amazing--more custard and not very coffee-y. He said if we didn't like it, he'd buy it. Okay, sold! WOW! Best tiramisu EVER! We LOVED it! Everything was phenomenal! I'm so thankful we were able to try this place out! If I'm ever in Flagstaff again, I'm coming here again for sure, and will even ask for Mike! :)

We found this Based on a local PBS show we saw on you tube and not Triple D. It has a rating from Naples that claims their pizzas are made authentic. I it is fun to see them toss the dough in front of you. Probably the best Margarita pizza I've ever had. We also had a burrata chile infused side dish. That was great. Service was wonderful I see why people come here. The happy hour was very generous with discount prices on drinks and some items. I'm giving it a 4 because I don't understand why they charged a 4% flagstaff service fee. We originally thought it was a city thing they couldn't help. We ate at two other places and were not charged this fee. And again I feel like restaurants should put this information on menu at the door on the table ahead of time if they are going to do it.

A solid, satisfying pizza. Above average, but not really anything particularly exciting. The toppings were well distributed but lacked seasoning and the cheese was sparse. Admittedly I'm an absolute fiend for cheese so that may be personal preference!

We saw the reviews and ratings on Yelp and decided to pay Fat Olives a visit - glad we did. I have a fondness for good wood fired oven cookery and they get it right. We had the roasted olives for a tasty starter, and ordered two pizzas that we shared: the Marmalade and Farmer - both were delicious - our server was sweet and efficient and the entire staff seemed that way - my wife couldn't decide on which of the local brewery beers to try, so our waitress brought her samples - it's right on Route 66 a couple of miles outside of Flagstaff proper - very good meal! read more

It was our last night in Flagstaff and we were looking for a restaurant close to our Airbnb and we discovered this amazing Italian restaurant online. We had to go check it out. It was on Dinners, Driveins & dives! It didn't disappoint! We were greeted at the door by hard workers readying, silverware, and pizza boxes. For a Friday night and a busy restaurant we did not have to wait for a table for two. Families, groups of friends & couples were present. We each ordered a different salad and they were good, but our entrées were amazing! We ordered the rigatoni and the spaghetti and meatballs! We live in Connecticut, where there are lots of mom and pop Italian spots and this is right up there with them! Amazing sauce & meatballs! Great portion size as we left with leftovers! Lexi, our waitress, was terrific and attentive, has been been there since 2017 so that in itself says something! We had a nice discussion even though it was busy. The waitstaff worked well together! Driving from the west coast to the east & somewhere along the way decided to try & stop at a restaurant featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, & Dives at each state I stopped for the night in. This was the first of those! Bought BOTH of the pizzas Guy tried on the show & they were fantastic!! I was staying in Flagstaff for a few nights and came across this place. Let me preface this by saying Italian food isn't my first choice, I usually have to be in the mood for it. But my friend wanted to go so we went. After eating here, I've come to realize that Italian isn't my first choice because I haven't had good Italian until I went to Fat Olives. I had the Rigatoni and my goodness, it was seriously the best pasta dish I have ever had. The meat sauce was perfection and the mozzarella was so good. My friend had the pizza and she said it was amazing as well. Let me tell you how good this place was ... we returned the next evening for dinner. Unfortunately for us the wait was too long and after a long day of hiking we didn't really want to wait. But trust me, if the wait wasn't so long we would have eaten there 2 nights in a row. read more

We stopped in to eat lunch here while in town and it did not disappoint. Authentic Italian food with amazing flavors and taste! We ordered the Caprese salad, Bruschetta board along with the Miss Piggy pizza and the Dolce Pizza that "Guy" tried when he visited the restaurant and it was amazing. Definitely recommend coming here if you're wanting an authentic Italian experience. My only complaint is the service could have been better as far as our waitress checking in on our table for refills. It was not busy at all and we had to wait a few min several times to request items. Other than that the food was DELICIOUS. read more

Great service from the host to the waiter. Came in after we got engaged at Bearizona and they treated us to complimentary Prosecco. We got both of the recommended Guy Fieri pizzas and both were fantastic. We ate half and took the rest back to the hotel for a midnight snack. We also ordered dessert which was huge and took that back as well. Highly recommended for locals and tourists read more

We had a great dining experience at Fat Olives. The pizza Belgio Dolce, as suggested by our server, was superb. One of the best things I have ever eaten! This was my first time trying this restaurant. I will definitely be back. We had the pleasure of sitting at the pizza bar and accidentally met the owner, John, and his son, Ivan. Everything coming out of their oven looked delicious. Everything we ordered was outstanding. The service was phenomenal and quick, even with a packed house. Everything they make is fresh and authentic. The ambiance was very family friendly but could also be perfect for a date-night. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

Food was great, we are passing through town and saw the reviews and just wanted a good meal before heading to the hotel. It was 1000% worth it! Bruschetta mix is so good I honestly could eat it out of the bowl. Should have taken pictures but we were excited to eat! We had the Margherita and Calabrian Dolce both sooooo good! Our son got the buttered noodles (toddlers am I right??) they were great and it's awesome they can ask for seconds of them as well. After visiting Venice and Rome it was nice to have something similar! Comforting and had a good meal I know we will sleep well tonight! Husband said this will be a bookmark for him to stop in anytime he has to role through this area and I agree! read more

Stopped in last week at the recommendation of a friend, for lunch, the 3 of us ordered Meatball spaghetti, spaghetti bolognaise and spaghetti pesto. The meatball spaghetti was tasty and portion just right, however the othe 2 dishes were just okay, and portions were rather small, almost a chile portions, and the bill was $53 which is steep for 3 spaghetti lunches, no drinks...!!! This place is basicaly a dine in Pizzaria, the other dishes on the menue were thown in as afterthought. read more

Is the pizza at Fat Olives good? My wife and I live in Sedona and one afternoon we were dying for really good pizza. I called up to Fat Olives for a take out order, told them I was coming up from Sedona and could they wait to put it on for about 30 minutes, to give me time to get up there. No problem. Yes, it was not hot when I got back home, but a quick light reheat and it was fantastic. Could we have gone back up to Flag to eat in Fat Olives. Yes, but we had things we had to do close to home. So take out from Fat Olives did the trick. So, is the pizza at Fat Olives good? No, it's freaking fantastic. Oh, and they have Peroni's on tap. Sealed the deal for me. Heading back up later this week, this time to eat in after a movie. Can't wait. read more

Been to a lot of Diners Drive ins and Dives spots but this one takes the cake. Mike waited on me and hooked me up right with the hot olives and a Margareta 12". It was solid so I asked him to bring another of his choice for the road and that sucker didnt miss. The Ms Piggy was right up my alley and glad he chose that one. Sometimes, it's not just the food, but what, and who, you are supporting when you pay. Fat Olives is by far worth more than five stars! Not only have I never had a bad experience at Fat Olives during our seven year sojourn in town, not only is the food incredible, but the owner/operator/chef John C is a Flagstaff fixture who supports worthy causes and works to make a positive difference both locally and at large. (You may have seen him on one of Guy Fieri's shows.) Peruse the menu, and try something that sounds different to discover something amazing. Salmon on a pizza? It's actually really, really good! (Will's favorite.) The Ms Piggy is a tribute to porcine goodness on a plate. The Marmalade? Who would have thought of bacon marmalade?! Soppresettas, special chili oils, creamy goat cheese, candied pecans, S'Mores pizza... Everything is creative, and delicious. read more

For a place called Fat Olive's their portions are tiny. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs, it was the size of a side dish. I left there hungry and went and finished my meal somewhere else. The server was very nice tho and I left her a good tip. read more

The creamy Brussel sprouts were amazing! The pizza were interesting and not your usual pizza stop. Pasta was also tasty. I would return there again. The atmosphere was cozy with low lighting. A good spot to eat when in Flagstaff. read more

Escaping the Las Vegas heat, we decided to take a road trip to Flagstaff. Ventured over to Fat Olives to cure our hunger. We tried a few items from the menu and none were a disappointment. We started with a couple mixed berry sangrias, those were tasty. Appetizers were Abruzzo and Wood fired stracciatella. These were absolutely delectable and the dough they used was addicting. Our entree was the Marmalade pizza, and boy was that excellent. The chili honey sauce was so good we purchased a bottle of their home made chili oil. If we weren't already stuffed (overly), we would have indulged in dessert, like s'mores pizza, chocolate calzone.... Those will have to wait until the next visit. The only part better than the food was the young lady that provided phenomenal service! You've e got a keeper with her! Well, since we were not able to try dessert our first time here, we had to come back the next night. Totally worth it! The s'mores pizza was heavenly! An absolute joke of an establishment. Food is subpar and the to go service is AWFUL. The general manager, Misty, is also awful. I heard her tell the customer ahead of me flat out that she "did not care" about how long they'd been waiting for their food. Regardless of what kind of chaos is happening in a restaurant, there is a certain standard of professionalism that should be upheld. Misty does not meet that, NOT EVEN CLOSE. Had just come out of 5 days backpacking the Grand Canyon. Let me tell you, this is some great food and that is NOT the five days of freeze dried meals talking. Totally making a trip up to make sure to eat here again. A cool side note, we were sitting there and suddenly the painting on the wall screamed at us... oh my goodness we were just there!!!! Our oven was handcrafted in Italy by the Valoriani family. Our mozzarella and burratta is handmade, right here, every day. Our tomato sauce is made with "crushed" San Marzano tomatoes. We import and use only "00" Caputo flour. We are proud to be part of the slow food movement and use only local produce when available. We strive to provide a true Neapolitan pizza experience adhering to age old principles and procedures to insure a classic Neapolitan Pizza. Our benches and bar tops are built with 100 year old timbers reclaimed from the Furniture Barn. Salute!

Established in 2012.

Fat Olives began with the only licensed mobile Italian pizza oven. It was strictly a catering business until 2012, when the restaurant was opened. We have been serving Italian classics and Neapolitan Pizza.Fat Olives serves true Italian pizza -- natural, pure, the way it was intended. So, what makes our pizza special? The cheese. Our mozzarella, or fior di latte, is handcrafted from fresh curd. You will NOT find "part skim, low moisture" mozzarella on our pizzas! The crust. Our pizza dough is made fresh from the finest Neapolitan Caputo 00 flour. Produced in Naples for three generations, this finely ground flour delivers both a crisp crust and a moist crumb. We use only flour, yeast, salt, and water in our dough. The sauce. At Fat Olives, our pizza sauce is made from only imported San Marzano Italian tomatoes! Warm, welcoming, and unpretentious, Fat Olives is the perfect destination for impromptu gatherings, casual dinners, and special occasions.

Meet the Business Owner: John C.

John Conley, is a Flagstaff and Arizona native. He grew up in Phoenix, Arizona in a family of nine. He was given a choice to learn to cook or go hungry, and he not only learned to cook, but fell in love with cooking. He moved to Northern Arizona at the age of 17 to pursue a career with the United States Forest Service. During the summers he fought fires and during the off season he worked in a restaurant and attended NAU. When he left the Forest Services to start his senior year, he decided he was no longer going to continue fighting fires. He returned to his local restaurant job, Salsa Brava (then: only a counter service restaurant). He caught word that Salsa Brava was going up for sale. He took a chance and chased a dream. Now 26 years later he has two family owned restaurants, Salsa Brava, that has been featured on Food Network, and Fat Olives,an authentic Italian kitchen.

After eating next door for a lunch, we saw the signs all over MartAnne's claiming they are "The…read moreHouse That Chilaquiles Built!" We were intrigued enough that we visited MartAnne's the very next night for dinner. That was on a Tuesday at around 6PM and it wasn't too busy the entire time we were there. House Horchata ($5.99) - This drink comes in a giant 32 oz Ball jar with tons of ice. Per the server it's made with milk and condensed milk, no rice milk at all. It's rich, thick, creamy, sweet, filled with earthy notes of vanilla and cinnamon. There's so much spice included that at some points, there's almost a gritty feeling while drinking. It's perfect for a hot day after hiking. Buckwheat Pancake ala carte ($4.99) - Buckwheat pancakes are something we've never seen before on a diner menu in the past. It seems to be pretty common around Arizona, so we had to give it a try before leaving Flagstaff. This one's pretty big, almost plate sized. It's really moist, fluffy, bouncy, and light with a slight sweetness and a certain earthy flavor. It's moist enough that it sticks to the ceramic plate it's served on. The pancake is somewhat crumbly due to the low gluten content of buckwheat, although I believe they use a mix of buckwheat and wheat flour to give some more stability. It's bluish grey in color with black specks of ground buckwheat throughout. It's dusted with powdered sugar, but it's not a ton, making the pancake not really sweet at all. The pancake comes with a small cup of their cinnamon honey butter. It's not mixed that well, leaving it mostly unhomogenized with streaks of honey and spice through the softened salted butter. Tamale ala carte ($4.99) - MartAnne's offers two types of tamales - the first a red chile beef, and the second a green corn and cheese. We went with the latter, which is a homemade tamale with a somewhat looser, coarsely ground masa shell surrounding an interior of yellow sweet corn kernels, a bouncy and somewhat spongy block of Oaxaca cheese, and a fragrant green chile. There's a slight sweetness throughout and the tamale overall is easy to eat. Chilaquiles, Xmas, Fratelli ($17.99) - This is a monster sized plate of a mishmash of ingredients. There are three things as essentially a base layer. Firstly some Mexican rice that's tender, moist, and fluffy, totally unlike the more common dry and and compact version. My guess is that they skip the initial frying step that helps keeps the starch together. It's quite fragrant and has gives a bit of heat. On top of the rice is a layer of hash browns. The potatoes are tender on the interior, griddled on one side to give a delightful crunch, although there's some acridity that develops. Another third of the plate is covered with chili beans - tender pinto beans that are well salted and seasoned. Then there's the eggs stuffed in between layers of corn tortilla chips, smothered with sauce. I went with the Christmas combination of red and green sauce, followed up by the Fratelli-style pork green chile. The green sauce is fragrant and vegetal, while the red sauce is more smoky. The pork, which is cut into chunks, on top is a bit tough and dry but there's more than enough sauce to make up for that slight demerit. Finally, there's a small mound of I believe jalapeno peppers, cut into small neon-green colored pieces. Some pieces are spicy, some are mild, all have a vegetal pepper taste. I found the food at MartAnne's to be pretty good. It definitely hits the spot after hiking all around the area for most of the day. Bathrooms - Two individual rooms, one for men, one for women. Note: MartAnne's charges a 3.5% credit card fee. This is labeled on the menu.

The only problem I have with it is that on a recent trip through town I made a point of stopping here with my dog, both their yelp listing and Apple maps listing have them down as dog friendly. If I could give zero stars, I would. My girlfriend and I had an awful experience at Fat Olives from start to finish. When we were seated, our table was still dirty--crumbs, smudges, and who knows what else. The overall ambiance wasn't great either; it felt chaotic, and the place just didn't have a welcoming vibe. Our waitress was completely inattentive, barely checking on us. We had to flag her down multiple times just to get basic service. Our food came out wrong, our drinks were never refilled, and the food itself was just bad. We tried multiple items from the menu, hoping something would be decent, but everything was disappointing. The worst part? We both ended up with food poisoning. We were sick for days, which not only ruined our trip but also made us miss our visit to the Lowell Observatory. Those tickets were $70, completely wasted because we were too sick to go. Instead of enjoying our vacation, we spent the next couple of days absolutely miserable. I genuinely love giving great reviews when they're deserved, but I have to be honest--this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. Save yourself the trouble and eat somewhere else. My boyfriend and I patronized Fat Olives after a ridiculously stressful day in Flagstaff, and it was exactly what the doctor ordered. From the cocktails, to the mini-happy-hour appetizers, to the arribiata pizza to the s'more dessert, we were completely thrilled and satisfied with everything that went in our mouths. I agree with another poster about the rudeness of the hostess with the short hair, she was abrupt and kept us waiting (even though they had literally just opened the doors and there was only one other table inside). I hate when a hostess knows you are there but won't acknowledge you, preferring to stare at whatever they are writing....it takes a second to say, "be right with you" with a smile. But, our server in the bar smoothed us over and Fat Olives won with the incredible food and great bellinis. The housemade bread and mozz.....wow. Excellent Pizza with a nice atmosphere. The thin, tasty Pizza dough here is delicious! The pizza dough ingredients are imported from Italy and fire oven baked to perfection. There is a bar area, and a dining area that has booths, four top tables and seating at the pizza bar. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. Our waiter, was super nice and attentive. The drink menu was expansive, lots of wine choices as well as beer and mixed drinks. We were there for lunch, so we just had the iced tea, which was fresh brewed and refreshing with a generous slice of juicy lemon. In addition to the pizza, there were other traditional Italian dishes on the menu, as well as sandwiches. For the kiddies one of the offerings was a bowl of pasta with butter and cheese; exactly what my kids asked for when they were little! We discovered Fat Olives on a recent trip to Flagstaff. When you enter the restaurant it is very underwhelming! That all changed as soon as we were seated and our server Mike came to our table. Mike was AMAZING!!! Mike was so informative about the menu and gave us excellent suggestions. He also mentioned that Guy Fieri had eaten there and ordered the Belgio Dolce pizza. We all agreed to give it a try. The pizza was unlike anything I had ever had. It was fantastic!!!! We also tried the roasted olives and tomato bisque--both delicious. Portions were large and service was outstanding! We told Mike the food was so good we would come back on Thursday and we did. This time we ordered 1 pepperoni and 2 Belgio Dolce pizzas. The location is super convenient--just a quick hop off the highway, making it the perfect spot for a delicious break before getting back on I-40. On my last visit to Flagstaff, AZ, we stopped off at Fat Olives twice.. I'm glutton intolerant and was able to enjoy the regular thin crust pizza at Fat Olives. They do however offer glutton-free bread and pizza crust.. Lauren was our bartender and server. I tasted the artichokes, pizza, caprese salad and wine from the tap. My favorite was the appetizer plate of roasted vegetables. It is evident that the food is fresh and made from high quality ingredients. Food was absolutely delicious and the red wine was smooth. Another delicious dinner! We've eaten at the always popular Fat Olives many times, but tonight we came in without a reservation. The host was polite and friendly, but didn't lie about the wait. He maintained his affable demeanor in the face of our loud conversation:) When we opted to stay and grab drinks at the bar, we committed a faux pas by sitting at an empty two-top (oops!). Waitstaff sweetly re-directed is to the lobby but seated us a bit earlier than the anticipated time. Our waiter was attentive without hovering, and the food....yum! My new favorite restaurant! I came to Fat Olives with my soon to be mother and brother in laws on a recent trip to Flagstaff. We were instantly excited about their happy hour menu. We ordered the Fat Olives insalata, Stracciatella, and abruzzo to share. All were fabulous. We each had a Peroni and decided to order a regular sized caprese and parma and arugula pizza. Delicious! The service was great, the beer was cold, and the restaurant had great ambiance. The happy hour prices can't be beat, and the regular menu prices are extremely reasonable. I will definitely be returning here again soon! read more
