Ambiance - Rustic demeanor. The chairs, tables and benches are awesome. They look hand crafted. They aren't easy to move, but they ARE sturdy. Lots of pun-tastic t-shirts on display. You definitely sit somewhere that allows you to see these. Service - Brilliant. Friendly. Kind. Fast. Waters came out immediately with freshly cut lemons. The water was crisp and cold. Among all the ordering, two people at our table who ordered sodas did have to ask for their drinks after the food came out. These sodas were promptly retrieved. Food - Parmesan garlic fries came with a generous helping of roasted garlic. Like full cloves. Fries were freshly cooked and very hot. The pizzas were quickly dispatched by their partakers. Both pizzas received praise from the eaters. We asked for things to be left off the burger and for things to be on the side. This was completed with accuracy. The taco salad was well done. The best part was the size of the plate and the depth. Because it was relatively shallow, it never felt like I had exhausted all the goodies only to find myself eating lettuce. I had heard the recommendations and high praise about Rosco's burgers, stored them in my memory banks and put that back burner and not prioritized it. Rosco's Burgers are now at the top of the list and most likely a second visit. Two of my party openly stated it's the best meal that they have had in AKASKA. How good are the burgers you may ask? Rosco's is a Great Ninilchik spot for take out on the Sterling Hwy. All staff are very nice and wear face masks, and they appreciate it when patrons wear masks coming in or going out. Dining-in is great, too, if they aren't full of large groups during these Covid-19 times; their tables aren't spaced out as much as one would like. Rosco's sandwiches are what bring us back each time we travel through on the way to Homer or Anchor Point when we visit friends. We try to time our stop just as they open at 11:30am. In Winter, they close at 8 pm and are closed on Sunday and Monday. We always order their tasty potato salad, it's great, in place of french fries. Rosco's Cheeseburger is a favorite. Wild Willie's Blues Burger and the Big Kahuna Burger are good, too. My friend likes the Mexi Wrap. Be sure to pick up packs of mayo, mustard, and salt and pepper on your way out to dress your burgers. read more

One of the food items we have been missing since starting our adventure was a good pizza. It was wonderful to find this great pizza place in the small town of Ninichik. The pizza was so good that our traveling friends got one for themselves the next day. Service was good and the pizza was ready just a few minutes after I arrived, I had called in the order, so it was still hot when I got it back to the RV park. Roscoes has the best pizza! I've eaten pizza all over the place like many others and when I say that they are the top two best pizza's I've ever had I mean it! I recommend eating it there with the locals. You never know if a local tv star from Homer will be in there too. The locals are amazing people and are super friendly and know the fishing spots so don't be afraid to go grab some food at Roscoes and strike up a conversation with them! AND I also love their hamburgers especially the blue cheese and bacon burger. I love the Italian sandwich that has the pickled cauliflower and olives and salami. Its SOoooo amazing. The homemade cheese cake is amazing. I order a cheesecake or two during the holidays. In fact from now until April you can make orders for dessert from them. My personal favorite is the 3 berry cheesecake at room temperature with some of their whipped topping. I usually get it to go but it is a treat! The lasagna is amazing and a huge piece. I've eaten there at least 20 times and have never been disappointed. OH! I almost forgot to mention the clam chowder in a focaccia bread bowl. The best Ive had and the bread is the best part. What have I been waiting for?! I've been asked that a lot in the days after saying I'd finally tried Rosco's. Having heard great reviews from many people in the last couple of years, I just had no excuse to drive down to Ninilchik - plus seeing as how my body is not a fan of pizza (unless I have it without cheese, but who has pizza without cheese?! weirdos, that's who!) it just didn't seem like the right option. Boy, was I surprised. After spending the morning in the Caribou Hills to cheer on the Tustumena 200 and 100 sled dog teams, we headed back down towards home. The wait to eat at Freddie's Roadhouse was a tad too long and it was standing room only, so it felt smarter to try and find food elsewhere. This was my opportunity to try Roscoe's. Of course, they decided to have their customer appreciation 50% off that weekend, so it was very close to standing room only there, too, but we were able to snag a table as we came in. The wait to be served was a little long of a wait, but totally understandable. They were busy! I would have lost my mind working the counter, but the staff were all friendly and excited to be so busy! Wow! People who actually look like they enjoy their job, who knew! Dad and I both decided against pizza - not for any particular reason other than we wanted something a little lighter. Most things on the menu had cheese, so I settled for their chicken strips and fries basket and dad went with their Muffuletta sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. Wow. The chicken strips are pretty standard but they were served HOT and the fries were crisp. Dad's sandwich though - he won't stop talking about it. The bread is made fresh, and was not dry/stale. The flavor was spot on, and the onion rings were crisp and hot and just the way he likes them. We're now finding any and every excuse to get back to Rosco's. You can bet we will no longer just drive by on our way to or from Homer. read more

We have eaten at Roscoe's a few times. The pizza is always very good. We also tried burgers and salads this time. The burgers were a little dry, but overall pretty good. The salads and homemade dressing were great as well. We eat at Roscoe's at least once when we make fishing trips down to Ninilchik. read more

We bought two large pies here and enjoyed them. As a native New Yorker, I'm a pizza snob. I've never found a truly good pizza in Alaska, but Roscoe's was the best to date. Their price per square inch isn't cheap, but nothing in Alaska is cheap. Next time through Ninilchik, I'll stop again. Friendly staff. Driving to Soldotna after an afternoon in Homer visiting the sites we were very hungry. Saw Roscoe's beside the road in Ninilchik and decided to give them a try. Boy are we glad we did. We had a large pizza with half of the Roscoe's special of various meat and cheese and the other half was artichoke, garlic and sundried tomato. Excellent. The crust was very good and the toppings just right. The pizza hit the spot and made the last hour of our drive much more comfortable. The side green salad was fresh too. The service was very good. People were coming in getting those orders for pick up and there were others in the restaurant eating too. The table and chairs are the heavy local wooden birch type and were comfortable. There's a nice aquarium full of tropical fresh water fish. Everything was clean. To top it off the left over pizza was great the next day for breakfast! Lol! We'll definitely stop again. read more

In the Summer, I drive frequently between Anchorage and Homer. The small town of Ninilchik is in between "Speed Zone Ahead" and "Resume Speed" on the highway. I've noticed Rosco's for a while now, but just stopped in the other day on my way back to Anchorage. First of all, the smell of a true pizzeria was very welcome as we entered. The menu included more than just pizza, and I wanted one of everything. I ended up choosing a burger, and it was excellent! They make their own buns here, and it made a big difference. One of my party had the pulled pork sandwich, and it was good too. A cobb salad rounded out our group's choices, and it was full of variety. Next time, I'm trying the pizza. Hand-tossed, and the smells coming from the kitchen were just divine. We were on a time crunch, or we would have taken the time to have a pie. read more

Only pizza and calzones after 9p. We arrived about 30min before closing time, and so I thought it was nice that not only did our order arrive promptly, but also that we were not rushed to finish by the staff. As one of the few places to eat around here, I was impressed by the quality of the food. The crust was thicker, but perfect in texture (crispy exterior, fluffy interior). We got the Mediterranean pizza, and they had ran out of spinach, but we were happy to replace it with mushrooms, which were fresh and NOT of the canned variety (yuck). We must have been starving, b/c we finished the large. The breadsticks were not that good and def not worth $5. I don't normally order breadsticks (seems redundant with pizza), but the bread was foccacia, and it sounded interesting. The product though fell a little short. I would be more than happy to return here if we're lucky enough to return to the area. read more

The pizza here at Rosco's is very good! I would say it is the best restaurant in Ninilchik. Admittedly, I didn't have high expectations for a pizza restaurant in small town Ninilchik, but was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the pizza was. I often don't eat the crust of the pizza because it can be disappointing, but I gobbled up all of the crust from every slice! If you are in Ninilchik looking for a bite to eat, come to Rosco's. There are very few food choices in Ninilchik. Rosco's on the outside is not the most inviting looking place. And we're snobby NY foodies. So we were a little nervous walking into the restaurant. We were glad that the food got rid of any concerns we might have had. The pizza was actually really good, the service was excellent. This place is fantastic. My Dad ordered the baked lasagne, which came with a green side salad. The salad had nice and fresh leafy green lettuce - none of that cheap iceberg lettuce prepackaged salad nonsense some restaurants serve. His lasagne was beautiful and disappeared quickly.
