wow, some great bbq here! Unfortunately they were out of the brisket by the time we got here around 5:30pm (they are open from 11am onwards). The ribs were fantastic.... smoky, juicy and tender. We ordered the 2 meat plate and it came with 3 ribs and a heaping of pulled pork (second choice as the brisket was sold out). The pulled pork was solid, though wished it was moister. It was great with the bbq sauce, though I always like to taste a pulled pork by itself. Got a side of beans and those were darn good! I love pinto beans and they still had their shape/texture and good bite. Something addicting about good baked beans with ribs. This is a great place! Next time I'd come for lunch before items are sold out.

We had a pretty good meal at Fat Racks BBQ, although the people who came in right after us had limited pickings because when this restaurant runs out of food, they run out of food and close. When we arrived, there was no more brisket and apparently we had the last order of ribs. We had the family meal, which was big enough to feed the four of us with leftovers. We had the pulled pork and ribs. The pork was very good and the ribs were OK. While they were meaty, the meat did not fall off the bone as we are used to having it. They have two sauces - regular barbecue or spicy barbecue and both were good on the meat. We had coleslaw and potato salad as sides and both were very tasty. Our recommendation is that if you come earlier, you are likely to have a better choice of what you want to eat.

I came here for lunch. You order at the counter and they call out when your order is ready. They have outdoor picnic tables and a couple indoor seats (it's smaller inside). I ordered a 3 meat (brisket, pulled pork, & ribs) plate with a side of potato salad. The plates can come with 1, 2 or 3 meats which is a great way to try a variety of what they have. All the meats were tender and had great flavor- the pulled pork was my favorite. It is a filling meal and could definitely be shared as well.

Omg was Fat Racks BBQ delicious we loved it. We feasted on the ribs and pulled pork. Both were full of flavor, sizable and amazing. The sides, potato salad, coleslaw and beans were top notch. This is a definite stop. Which they were in my backyard. AZ is a little too far of a drive. Don't miss out!

I stopped by with a few friends on my way to the airport going home from Yellowstone. I ordered the brisket with a side of potato salad. The meat was amazing! It was not dry at all and had so much flavor. The service was really good too. There's only a few tables inside, but there are tables outside as well. I definitely recommend coming here if you are ever in town.

Really good BBQ!! I got their baby back ribs and it was the best ones I've ever had! And loved that the bbq sauce is gluten free. Seriously sooooooo good! It had lots of meat on it and not a lot of fat which I prefer. Their potato salad was so good too! I will miss this place when we leave Cody. We called ahead for a pick up order and it was ready in like 15 mins! Amazing food and service!

Slim pickings - Came a bit after 6 and many of the items were already sold out. What we ended up getting was the brisket and pulled pork, along with potato salad. Brisket was alright, a bit dry for me but the pulled pork was delicious. The BBQ sauce is what makes it just right. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

The ribs are some of the best I've ever had! They were moist, tender and tasted great!

Get the ribs!!! They were fall-off-the-bone! The brisket and pulled pork were good but nothing special. The beans are brown beans - not baked, so be aware. Loved the potato salad!

On Wednesday, June 19th, Kim and I ordered 2, 2 meat plates, brisket and pulled pork with a side of beans. We ate our fill and took the leftovers back to the motel. The next night I bought a couple hard rolls at Albertsons and we ate some of the leftovers. Tonight we finished the last bit of leftovers and all I can say is Fat Racks BBQ is delicious. 2 plates 6 meals! If you like BBQ don't pass up Fat Racks BBQ, some of the best you'll ever taste. read more

If you are passing through Cody, or even staying, DO NOT MISS Fat Racks BBQ. The pulled pork was the best I've ever eaten. Incredibly moist and flavorful and the BBQ sauce was just the right amount of sweet and tangy. Owner was delightful as well. From one business owner to another...EXCELLENT product. Don't pass it up! Food trucks are outstanding and this one outshines the average by a long shot! The owner is exceptionally friendly and ya know from the minute he opens his mouth he is a good ole honest barbecuing Texan! We order the brisket plate w slaw and a sweet tea, and a full rack of baby backs. To explain it best the bones on the ribs are only there as a guide, once the meat hits ur mouth the bone is no longer needed as the meat departs it with no fuss! Now let me tell ya this, I grill a lot and I've had a lot of bbq over the years and these ribs are superior to any I've made or had prior! Seasoned and smoked to perfection! NO SAUCE NEEDED! The brisket was outstanding with a perfect touch of seasoning and smoke! This is my first time in Cody but if I ever make it back this way I'll pray he is still planted on that corner! BBQ worthy of a trip to Cody for! I ordered the 3 meat plate (ribs, pulled pork, & brisket) with coleslaw and beans. The star of the show was definitely brisket! I got 5 slices of lean brisket that was moist and smokey and made me long for a trip to Texas! The ribs were excellent the had a wonderful smokey flavor and pulled off the bone easily. The pulled pork was moist and smokey. The sides were also great. The slaw was sauced just right with just a hint of sweetness. The beans surprised me! I was expecting sweet saucy beans, but I got a savory bean that complimented the meal excellently . read more

Originally from Texas and moved to Nevada couple of years ago. We miss good bbq. While traveling through Cody, I looked for couple of restaurant options and this little gem had great reviews. The owner is very friendly and originally from Texas. He promised this will be the best BBQ I ever had. We ordered baby back ribs and brisket. Well, he was right. It's the best bbq we have ever had. Both the baby back ribs and brisket were so tender and flavorful. The quality of the meat was outstanding and not fatty at all. He gave us bbq sauce which was good but we didn't need it. Definitely a place we will visit the next time we are in Cody. read more

Came here on our way to Yellowstone and the food/service was great! Highly recommend the brisket and potato salad. Also, the BBQ sauce is out of this world. The food alone would get 5 stars, but the staff really makes this place worth coming to. read more

We used to get food from Fat Racks when they were located at the Cody Airport. It was really good and reasonable. Our recent experience with Fat Racks now located on Sheridan did not live up to what it used to. The ribs were the worst ribs we have ever eaten. Dry, no flavor and very small amount of meat for the cost. The second complaint is they are extremely costly for what you get. Fat Racks does not hold a candle to Bubbas quality. Very disappointed in them now. read more

Fat Racks is AMAZING!!! I enjoyed lunch at Fat Racks many times in Cody. Then, I moved away but eventually decided to get married in YNP and hold the reception in Wapiti. I was always impressed with Fat Racks, asked them to cater the wedding, and the food and service was phenomenal. Michael is such a nice guy, everyone was really impressed. Seriously, several wedding guests approached us during/after the wedding to tell us how much they enjoyed the food. I only spent a summer in Wapiti/Cody, but Fat Racks was, by far, the best food I ate while living in the area. My mouth is salivating just thinking about Michael's pulled pork... highest recommendation!!! read more

Okay, let me start by saying this place was a food truck but is now located at the airport. Simple to find. The food truck will be up and running as of July 1st. We were staying a mile away at the KOA campground contemplating ordering pizza ( it's the only delivery in the area) luckily for us we decided to walk the mile instead of Dominos. The service was excellent- we also had our little dog ( in a dog stroller) and they were very accommodating. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and salad, my husband ordered a 2 meat plate, brisket and pulled pork. His came with coleslaw and he had a salad too. The food tasted like you were eating at someone's home. Very large portions, moist and flavorful. The owner/chef came and checked on everyone at their tables. I didn't ask him his name but he was very nice. He told us the restaurant location had only been open for 3 weeks. For those who love BBQ, especially those down the road at KOA, you won't be disappointed. FYI- we found a Cody Cabs to bring us back to KOA. Everyone we've come across in Cody has been very polite! Stayed in Cody for 5 days and ate here twice! The brisket, ribs, sausage, potato salad, and OMG the sauce were SO good. Which is saying a lot because I'm not even a big meat eater. The owner is a nice guy from Texas and the food is delicious...and the name? C'mon, hilarious. We wanted to buy some merch, but he was sold out. So we're hoping to purchase some when the new merch comes in. Definitely recommend eating here and will come back next time we visit Yellowstone/Cody. He mentioned they're about to open a location at the Yellowstone airport too! He really cared about his food and customers which showed by the cleanliness of his trailer and great customer service. read more

My wife and I were looking around Cody for a non-touristy place to eat and then Fat Racks popped up on Yelp. We are from Kansas City so BBQ is in our blood...and let me say...what Michael has going at Fat Racks is something special. It was a joy talking to him and hearing his passion for Que. My family and I were passing through Cody, Wyoming, on our way to the east entrance of Yellowstone National Park when we found Fat Racks BBQ on Yelp with 5 stars. It is a rare find, so we decided to give it a try. It is a red trailer converted to a food truck. I like its being located on a quiet, clean, safe street corner with wooden tables and chairs outside in the sun making it suitable for eating during the current pandemic. I ordered the brisket and baby back ribs with potato salad meal. My children also ordered the same meat combination, but each of them chose cole slaw and beans for their sides. We waited for about 10 minutes for our order to be ready. When we opened our styrofoam food boxes, our food appeared very pleasing to the eyes with just the perfect color and texture. When we took our first bites of the ribs and brisket, they proved to be the best BBQ we have ever tasted: flavorful, tender, moist, and freshly cooked. I can only think of one word to describe it best: PERFECT. The sides are great complements to the already perfect food. I can tell the food here is prepared with a lot of love. Michael, owner, is truly nice and humble and takes great care of his customers. He might as well be appointed ambassador of goodwill for Cody! How I wish Michael will bring his business to Los Angeles, so the rest of my family and friends can also taste the best BBQ ever! read more

Sorry but the brisket was dry. Also a friend ate there at a different time and said their brisket was dry as well. Highly disappointed. The ribs were pretty good as was the pulled pork. The sauce was ok but that's pretty subjective. I prefer sweeter while husband prefers a vinegar based one. Would choose Bubba's over this...I do love their sauce. read more

This was the best meal I had in Cody during my three day stay. The food was tasty and hot! The area was cleaned and well mantained. The gentleman that waited on me was very nice and enjoys his work. He took my order with a smile and delivered my food with a smile! While I was eating I notice this restaurant has a lot of locals that eat here as well. If your in the mood for barbecue I would recommend this place! When you walk up and smell the food you know you have chosen the right place. read more

This food truck was FANTASTIC! Had the 1/2 lb brisket sandwich and potato salad. I was STUFFED, but sad when the last bite was done. As well as the delicious food, we really enjoyed talking to the owner of the truck. Great guy. Have no idea if I'll ever be through Cody again, but this will definitely be a stop if I do! read more

This place is a total miss. Ordered the two meat plate and got the brisket and pulled pork. The brisket was incredibly dry and tough, 2/10. The pulled pork was okay, 6/10. Giving 2 stars because he also gave me one sauce for over a pound of meat and argued over my change stating that I was wrong and he didn't owe me back what I claimed. No idea why this is highly rated and I recommend skipping read more

Our family of four had a delicious lunch at Fat Racks. As a former resident of Houston, this bbq is the real deal and I enjoyed every bite! My daughter and I had pulled pork sandwiches and my husband enjoyed the two meat plate. Sides were excellent- coleslaw and baked beans. You can sit inside or outside. Highly recommend! read more

Finding Texas BBQ over a 1000 miles from from home was an unexpected delight. Enjoyed meeting Mike and hearing his story of beginning his dream. The brisket had a great bark and was tender and delicious. The ribs where succulent and falling off the bone tender. The turkey was moist and slightly smoked. I have been coming to Cody almost my entire life. My dad grew up in a nearby town and Cody was the place to go for fun, excitement, and to experience the wild West. On our way back from Yellowstone, we were starving and looking for a delicious place to eat. We checked out yo hoping to find something other than the overpriced tasteless food that you sometimes get in a tourist town. We were so happy to stumble upon this diamond in the rough. I ordered a full rack of ribs and a pound of brisket as well as a stuffed baked potato that had about a pound of pulled pork on it and all the fixings. The food was so delicious it did not last very long! The ribs were tender and tell off the bone but had a good shoe as well as a delicious crust on the outside. I love that the ribs were actually dry rub and then served with Barbecue sauce on the side. Which by the way, in and of it's self is amazing! The brisket was smoked to perfection, tender, and delicious! There was nothing that we were left one teen in terms of portion size and flavor. If you are ever in the vicinity do yourself a favor and eat at this place! Seriously, some of the best barbecue I have ever had! read more

Found this place while searching for places to eat during our quick stay in Cody. This was some of the best BBQ I've ever had, and I've had bbq in both Texas and Kansas City on multiple occasions. The owner was extremely nice and even hooked us up with some samples. I can honestly say the brisket and ribs need no sauce, they are sooooo good! Brisket was extremely tender and juicy. There's no need to eat anywhere else if you're in Cody!!! read more

I thought it was a little steep for what you get, but I will elaborate on that later. The three short ribs were lightly breaded and fried which gave the ribs a nice texture when I bit into them to reach the tender beef below. The beef was super tender and delicious, and eaten in combination with the peppercorn white gravy, well it was just bliss. By the way, well done on the gravy. It offered a very light silky consistency and was nicely seasoned. The single biscuit was good, but I could not break through it with a fork, but with a knife instead. I though it could of been softer and fluffier. It tasted good however and was good eating with the gravy as well. Like I said earlier, although the meal was delicious, I thought it was a little skimpy for a meal or plate. When the young lady behind the bar explained it to me, she made sound like a plate. To me, this was more like a small plate or even a meal starter. I expected more and was not filled for $25. At that price, they should consider adding another biscuit, low over head, and perhaps a couple of dollops of creamy mashed potatoes, to make it seem more like a meal. I would pay $25 again if it came with those extras. I debating between a three to four star review. Three stars with my disappointment with the portion size, but four for the quality. Can I give a 3.5?

The place can be tough to find if you don't pay close attention to the signs along the roadside. Parking was no problem at all as they shared a common lot with their neighbors. At the time, there was a limited menu of only six items so I was disappointed that the Thai Meatloaf was sold out. It seems that they went to a rotating menu before the pandemic disrupted operations. You place your order just outside the kitchen door and pay there. I should have selected the dry rub wings as that was the popular suggestion. I decided to try the cold noodles which were topped with cucumbers, red onions and radishes with an acidic dressing. The problem was that the pasta was undercooked which made the noodles stiff and chewy. An option to add a protein would have been useful too. The interior setup was very nice with Serpentine Cider and Lost Cause Meadery supplying the beverages.

The man (I think he was the owner) was friendly and kind - watched him talking to the lady in front of us, and he was super patient and friendly with her. Gave a great first impression. I had the 2 chicken thighs and the beans. The portions were just right- not crazy big, but enough that I ended up saving one thigh for later. The chicken was skin-on, and moist, smokey and really tasty. The beans were awesome! He uses pineapples and red peppers in the sauce and they were really good - not too sweet, not too spicy, but flavorful as heck. Hubby had the pulled pork sandwich and the coleslaw - said both were good too. Food was reasonably priced (all food plus two cans of soda came out to $22) for real, delicious food. If I lived in Cody, this truck would be a regular stop.

Love my BBQ! I'm a big fan of real 'low and slow' BBQ and Micheal is one of the best I've had the pleasure meeting. In California, we tend to grill more than BBQ, maybe due to our lack of patience. Years ago I met a gentlemen from Tennessee who had a small restaurant and explained to me the long process of BBQing meat with low heat. I have been practicing on family and friends ever since and am always looking to find the ultimate BBQ flavor. Micheal let us sample a bit of brisket, and pulled pork, and I ordered the baby back ribs and I'm telling you this man know his BBQ. Simply in my opinion, the best. we were stuck in cody for a few hours with camper repair, thank you park county rv!!! Well, good time to do laundry and hubby found fat backs bbq online and went to have lunch. The owner, Michel is a great guy. We told him we are going to be driving through Texas and gave us a few great places to eat at. Now on to his food... Larry had a 2 meat plate I got a sandwich, so we were able to share all his meats. Wow, just Wow!! Full of flavor and tender, sauce is just right. All I can say is AMAZING! The food truck is just a few blocks from our house so I am glad they are still open now that they have another location. Ribs are so meaty, fall off the bone, and flavorful--- best I think I have EVER had-- EVER. Pulled pork is so juicy and has awesome flavor too. Cole Slaw is the kind I like, so how can you go wrong? Prices I feel are very reasonable for such good BBQ. Love their specials they run at times. Come early as the truck usually closes at 5:00 :( but you can call ahead! read more

This was DELICIOUS BBQ, but the gentleman that owns it is the reason to visit! He's a great Texan transplant who knows how to cook and has lots of good information to share! You know the food is good when the kids ask if we can go back tomorrow! Too bad we're only passing through! ENJOY! read more
