I've heard some hype about this business on the radio and in magazines, so I was excited to try it. My first red flag was the black grease trail on the sidewalk from the door to what I later found out was the chef's smoking area. Second red flag was two people eating there at noon (with the publicity and time of day, I had expected we'd be in for a wait). Service was okay-ish. The dining area was filthy. Crumbs and grease all over the tables and floor, trash can overflowing (one staff member later commenting to themselves "I guess they didn't empty the trash last night"). I don't think they cleaned anything the night before. Food was as underwhelming as the service. Our shakes never came, we had to ask for them on the way out. Everything's great about this place with one problem. They're lively and fun but their food is horrendous. My partner and I ordered 2 half sandwiches that neither of us could finish despite their smaller size. If you can get past the off putting initial display and bite into their soggy mess of a sandwich you find Wrapped in tacky bread is a mess of ingredients that don't belong, glued together with an off putting yellow goo. Looks can sometimes be deceiving but this isn't the case, I don't know which is more grossed out, my mouth or my eyes. This is definitely the place to be if you feel the munchies coming on and decided it's your best life to eat something called the fat doobie, a sandwich with chicken fingers, french fries, onion rings, mozzarella sticks & honey mustard. If that isn't enough, side it with some Mac N Cheese bites. It's the kind of food your cotton mouth fantasy's are made of. Im not on that path so for me it's the kind of food that makes me pledge allegiance to my peloton as I am rolling out the door to my car like a harbor seal that's been misplaced in suburban Bellingham. The Fatshack has its place and it's slogan late night done right makes me sad for all my youth late nights wasted at Dennys eating moons over my hammy instead of the entire appetizer platter stuffed in a sandwich. Came here to grab a sammie while waiting for a rescue dog transport to come in. Had a Philly cheesesteak with peppers and onions, which you have to request peppers as they don't automatically include those due to cost, and the sandwich was really good. The bun was sturdy with a good chew and soft insides, meat was tender and juicy, the peppers and onions were so tasty. Gotta say that it's weird having to request peppers, as that's a major ingredient for a Philly cheesesteak. Can you even call it a Philly cheesesteak if you don't have any peppers? But, I digress. First time here. Found on Yelp. Thought the menu was too good to pass up. We placed an order for the single, classic, fat gorbie, 12 wings and an order of mint fried Oreos. It took about 20 mins to make and I'm not mad because that means they cooked my food to order. Can I say that this was amazing experience. I've been here for about two years and have struggled to find wings cooked like I like them ( all flats, fried hard) like we get them in Maryland. These damn wings were !!!! I wanted to take home an extra order ( visiting from Spanaway). The burgers were great. The fries were hot and fresh and the Oreos per the kids and hubby were the best they ever had ( these were the first they eve had lol). Rarely write a review with first visit but Fat Shack is GREAT, a true Hidden Gem!!! It's very close to Bellis Fair. Walking in you will notice that it's dark and smells greasy, like walking into a bad neighborhood take out in movies but don't let that fool you. The staff that took our order was wonderful and patient, and the service we received was great considering it is a fast food place and you can tell they main catered to take out orders. We order 2 large sandwiches (Fat Vikings & Fat donkeylips) we also combo both of our sandwiches. The large sandwiches it's full sized footlong, full forearm length not like a skimpy subway sandwich. It's very filling with a soft warm buns that's not soggy :) as well as a very large basket of fries (we ordered small size but it's the amount of Costco fries, also taste like Costco fries). The Fat Viking consist Mac n cheese, cheesesteak and onion rings and fries. Very messy but deliciously satisfying. The Fat Donkeylips had chicken strips and fries in buffalo sauce, spicy and saucy for the one that's more up for a challenge. The 2 combos fed 2 adults and 3 children with quarter of each sandwich and fries to bring home as their sandwiches are hearty!! Definitely will come back for late night eats as this place opens till 2am (3am for delivery) read more

The reviews of other awesome Yelpers weren't raving, yet my curiosity got the best of me and finally decided to try this place out. As it turns out, it's not worth it. The staff is super friendly, but that's about the only great thing about this place. I ordered the Mac 'n cheese bites, which were pretty good, but definitely aren't the best I've ever had. The burger is a disappointment; thin burger, mostly all bun, no flavor, nothing special. The fries were pretty tasty, though. I'm sad to write this we've been excited to try Fat Shack out forever it seems and wow was I dissapointed the moment I stated my order...the gal behind the counter was having a hard time understanding I wanted the lunch special and a lettuce burger she kept trying to do the lettuce burger as the lunch special but I wanted 2 separate burgers one with him one with out...and then it took a long time to receive it as two ppl called in large orders and still had to wait for there orders..then comes the burgers I received, the burger special was smashed completely and my lettuce one was a joke tiny and not filling I'd have to order a triple to be full off those tiny pattys! I really tried to like this place. Even went back a 2nd time to change up the ordered items. They had service with a smile! 1st experience was ordering the Fat Shack. It was their most expensive item. The state on their menu featured on the Travel Channel. Okay, I'll bite. They did get the order out within 7 minutes. When ordering it to eat there, they serve it up like a wrapped poorboy sandwich, with no plate, just the wrapped very tight in paper, sandwich. I asked the server, if I would get a plate or tray, and stated it normally doesn't come that way, just as it is, wrapped in paper. She was kind enough to bring me a paper-lined plate, as I did need in a moment! I opened the sandwich up, and try to pull it apart where they cut it. The didn't quite cut it completely, and all the fixings began to fall out all over the table. The french fries-chicken breaded nuggets-cooked beef. I put it back in and took a bite. It was ordered with Honey-mustard. They had taken the whole batch, put it in a bowl and tossed it, then shoved it into the sandwich. Nothing was crispy, it was all soggy breaded sides dish items in a decent bun. Very close to placing in a bowl with all the items and let them absorb the dressing, get soggy and then taste it. Really not appealing at all. It was tough to finish the sandwich. Finally gave up and thought I'd come back another time and hope they would be better. 2nd time Tried their cheeseburger lunch special. After ordering then grabbed a Coke and sat down. Observed a lot of delivery people coming and going with orders. 25 minutes later, I kid you not! The guy brought my cheeseburger and fries. The fries were lukewarm and the burger bun was cold. The meat patty was dry and a touch bit warmer than the fries. The patty was noticeably smaller than the small bun. The cheese was barely melted. The taste was very plain. I was really surprised by the low quality of the burger, especially after waiting 25 minutes in a fast food place. The kitchen had a lot of social conversations going on, and the music was pretty loud coming from it. They seemed busy, but not really organized. Did note another customer had ordered after me, and received his Fat Shack sandwich 5 minutes before I received my burger. As the server said, it's the way they roll there. No dought it's popular with the local college crowd. Not my type of food, even though I can and do eat most foods. I came in around 11:10 on Saturday and there were about a dozen employees scrambling about. It looked like they received a supply delivery that morning because the seating area was blocked off by all those cartons. Someone came in for a scheduled interview and the owner was definitely flustered (I overheard her sharing that she had been here since 2am). There's also a handful of other minor observations but overall....I would give this place another few weeks to iron everything out before trying them out. The food was alright...
