So the first time I went to The Fat Shack I just ordered dessert. I got the fried Oreos and then the guy working at the front told me to order a fried rice krispy treat. He put chocolate syrup and strawberries on it and it was DELICIOUS. I told him that there was no way that I could eat an 8 inch sandwich. My boyfriend ordered an 8 inch and it was huge! These sandwiches come with fried chicken strips, fried poppers, french fries, ect. He said that they can make 4 inch sandwiches and that you just have to ask. Perfect for me! He also said that you can bring in anything and they will fry it for a dollar. haha. Well....today my boyfriend tried to order me a four inch sandwich and the girl working said it is not possible. My boyfriend explained to the girl that the guy working at the front last time said it was possible. She still said that it was not possible. How hard could it be to cut a sandwich in half? Now I do not know how I feel about this place. My mouth is watering thinking about those fried oreos and rice krispy treats. I guess I will give it a third try and see if whoever else is working will make my four inch sandwich possible. This place caters to drunk college kids. When we ate there it was filled with overly buff and tan frat guys. They are open until 4am. They also have a poster of Jersey Shore in the shop which makes me laugh. update: I gave it a third try. I ordered the fried oreos again because we just wanted dessert. But the nice guy was working and he told me that they do in fact make 4 inch sandwiches. I like Fat Shack and have some good memories eating there my first couple of years at CSU, but I haven't eaten there in a while so I decided to get some buffalo fingers and a milkshake for delivery tonight while studying for finals. Delivery time was good, I was pretty impressed, but I was a little concerned when the delivery guy pulled the bag with my food out of his insulated bag and the box was vertical. I thanked him without expressing my concern and went back to my bedroom to eat. I took the styrofoam box out of the bag and wing sauce started to drip EVERYWHERE. My napkins were unusable and I was too scared to take the box out of the bag to check for a straw. It would have been unusable anyway. I could only eat a couple of the six buffalo fingers. They were essentially the same chicken strips you can get anywhere and they were absolutely swimming in bbq, and really mushy because of it. The strawberry milkshake was delicious, but for $4.50 I was really expecting a big shake, not the small I received. read more

I feel so dirty and wrong, my diet plan went right out the window. For anyone in the area that hasn't tried Fat Shack, you need to. EVERYTHING is deep fried. The selection was almost overwhelming, so many tasty sounding options. Thankfully the friendly staff was helpful with recommendations. My sandwich consisted of philly steak, chicken fingers, jalapeño poppers and french fries. Dessert: deep fried Twinkie. I'll just say it right now - it's not a great sit-down: it's better used as one of those late-night, last-resort food stops when you're really drunk and slaphappy. General Pros: -It's open late. Way later than other places. -Convenient location next to campus (CSU, Fort Collins), and also near Old Town. Only a 5-10 minute walk. General Cons: -Place is gross. The inside is bland, and the facilities are gross and not kept very clean. Weird odor in the bathroom, probably from people getting sick. -There isn't much "service" to be had, but depending on who's working, your menu items are inconsistent in size. Some people load you up and give you something huge while others put on the bare minimum necessary to call it a "sandwich." They need to pick an amount and stick with it because it's tiring not knowing how much food to expect. -The food itself is something else... Allow me to elaborate below. Food: As I mentioned above, this place is not exactly a fine-dining, sit-down restaurant. It's meant to be a getaway joint for late-night roamers, college students, who are back from partying or on their way to a party and just want to annihilate fried, fatty goodness. That being said, some of the menu items are just over-the-top and thoroughly gross. When you've got a sandwich with chicken fingers, jalapeno poppers, mozzarella cheese sticks, french fries, onion rings, and a ton of sauce slathered all over it, you really can't pick out flavors anymore. You're just putting fried grease in your mouth with extra helpings of sodium. Of course, some people find that to be delicious, but for my personal taste, it's just too much. I've been a few times now and try to give it a chance every time, but I've never left having felt like I ate something delicious, nor have I ever left feeling good physically. And I'd also like to comment that each of the individual food items is not high-quality or tasty in themselves. For examples, you can taste the cheese in the poppers, but the jalapeno itself is tasteless. The chicken fingers have sub-par breading on them, and the cheese sticks are the same. Everything tastes like it was taken out of a frozen TV dinner, and when you slap it all together in a large, sloppy sandwich, you have the Fat Shack. If you're up late and want something crazy to eat, then this place is for you. The food might taste better if you're drunk - I don't know. The food was really flavorless and chewy. The chicken fingers didn't come rubbed with sauce, they came with a cup of sauce instead and it wasn't really enjoyable. The Fat Shack sandwich wasn't much better and didn't have any flavor other than grease. The only thing I enjoyed was the fried cheesecake but I don't think I would go back. Would be 5, but there have been some issues in the past. I've had food get to my house being cold or cold and soggy. It's happened only twice, but it also happened on a particularly busy weekend (I don't blame drivers, I blame managers). Other than those two times, food is hot and delicious. If you have a hangover I cannot recommend them enough. It's perfect. Open til 3AM helps, greasy no-good-for-me food. It's always delicious even cold. And yes, it is greasy. I spent some time with some people talking and drinking a Chai and well...I got lost trying to find my car and ended up at fat shack. The options are insane and the place is hilarious. Filled with drunk jackasses and cheap food. Pretty right on cheesesteak. Dripping with evil and grease. It tasted awesome even though I was stone cold sober. The only reason I took off a star is the guilt I felt cramming a cheesesteak in my face like Lard Ass from Stand By Me. I was told my food would be ready in a half an hour. I waited, and when I arrived at the store I had to wait another thirty more minutes for one sandwich and three deep fried Oreos. I check my bag and didn't receive the only sandwich I ordered... I had waited around an hour for three oreos... I paid a little over twenty bucks for terrible service, missing food, and I felt like I had to beg to get the rest of the food I paid for after returning to the store for a second time. After eating here, I feel like I am about to explode. I feel bad for my toilet after eating the Fat Cow with all the cheese. My body hates me after eating these sandwiches and I don't think I can do much for a while after. Therefore if you are looking for a great place to induce your food coma then this is it. The food is great while you eat it but you will hate yourself after if the whole sandwich is gone, it's fantastic! I got the burger lunch special with a side of onion rings and I was ... disappointed. The burger was bland and flavorless despite swimming in so much cheese it kept trying to escape the bun. The onion rings were fresh... but flavorless, oily, and more soggy than crispy. We ordered our food online at 8:30pm and they told us it would be delivered by 10pm. We did not receive our delivery until 10:50pm. We ordered 12 wings, and received 8. We ordered two orders of Mac N Cheese bites, and did not receive any of the sauce that comes with it. We ordered an extra side of buffalo ranch....didn't receive this either. Honestly I was so excited to try fat shack for the first time and I am not one to ever leave a review but I was blown away at the way they handled the current pandemic. Unique toppings for a philly cheese steak. I love the fact that you can get French fries, chicken fingers, and mozzarella sticks on your philly cheese steak because its a great change of pace for a sandwich that I love. The philly cheese steak itself if plain would be nothing to write home about as it isn't anything special but the toppings make it a fun experience. I also really loved the Fried Oreos and the fried Twix for dessert. The price is standard philly cheese steak pricing I believe but it has been a little while since I've been there. I wanted this to be a super good review after all the hype but that's not the case. First off the place is open late and easy to get to. It's pretty big inside and looks good. The prices were definitely a bit more than the average comparable burger or sandwich shop but again the hype made me feel like j was going to be blown away. I had the fat cow I believe. Macaroni and cheese, fries, cheese sticks on a bun. Price was around 14 bucks for the sandwich only. The idea of this sandwich is cool and it smelled good but it was only mediocre. The bun seemed to soak up what little barbecue ranch sauce they put on it leaving the rest very dry. The fries and cheese sticks tasted old and the cheese in the cheese sticks was hardly melted.
