Fat Staw is a hole in the wall boba shop. Upon driving by, you might miss it or see it and think that it's a simple run-of-the-mill boba shop. This is wrong. What sets Fat Straw apart is that their boba is always top quality. Maybe they make small batches throughout the day or something because it always top quality. This is a disgusting mess of a place. There were flies on the inside of the ice cream bin and I found a hair in my drink. Absolutely do no recommend to my worst enemy. This is my favorite spot for boba! I love the drinks and the snacks are always a tasty pairing. I'm here at least once a week, it's just such an enjoyable place to be. For such a small place they've got plenty of seating. There's always a bit of a rush when the high school gets out but otherwise I rarely have to wait and the service is quick. **AUTHENTIC POPCORN CHICKEN** I love love LOVE this place! It's quite far out from where I live but just right around the corner from my dentist and not far from the outlet so I come here every time I'm in the area. Now, I was born and raised in Taiwan so I have a high standard when it comes to popcorn chicken, but this place is GOOD! Especially when you compare it to most places out here in the Bay Area. The chicken is seasoned well, fried crispy and each bite is flavorful. Do not go here for milk tea. It was horrible. I got a bubble milk tea and my boyfriend got a taro milk tea. It was the worst milk tea I've ever had in my life. I am not exaggerating.It was really watered down. It just tasted like dirty water. I took one sip and made a face and my boyfriend tried his and had the same reaction. We did ask for less sweet and less ice on our milk teas (which we normally ask for at other establishments), but we didn't think that meant watered down boba. We tossed our drinks outside the store and went to i-Tea. I recommend i-Tea and Westea for milk teas. If you want fruit teas, then go to Westea. We wanted to try this place out because of the 4 star rating on Yelp. The environment was nice. It was pretty spacious with a decent amount of tables and they were playing anime. When we walked in though, a mom and daughter were sitting down and then the mom said "There's a customer." The daughter who's probably like 5 years old walked behind the counter to the register and she waited for us to place our order. We took our time deciding and then the mom came to replace her daughter. We thought it was a bit weird that the mom let the daughter ring us up while the mom got ready. All in all though, I do not recommend this place. If they didn't offer customized drinks (i.e. level of sweetness and ice), then they should've just said that they didn't offer that instead of serving us a poorly made drink. read more

This is my new Boba place, the other one in town was too noisy and not as friendly. The woman who works here has helped me all the times I have come in and I don't come in around lunch because i think being so close to the school it would be very crowded. It's spacious and has plenty of seats/tables and it is also clean and not sticky. Plenty of parking, its not too easy to find since most people come into this area on the Stanley Side. I have ordered the Ice cream milk boba (slightly sweet flavor), the Cantaloupe slushie is a good one but my absolute favorite is the Avcocado Slushie with tapioca.... YUM! Popped into this little place and thought the atmosphere was nice and kind of trendy. My go to is a Thai tea, which is what I got. The amount of sweetness was the right portion and the drink was good, but the Boba wasn't too squishy. No big deal though. I liked my drink; can't really go wrong with a Thai tea if you like a nice sweet aftertaste. I'll be back to try more drinks. read more

I've been here several more times now and I have decided to give Fat Straw another star. I thought the jasmine tea base was interesting but black tea has always been my favorite, and now that I've tried their taro with a brown tea base I can easily say that it is superior to all the other boba places I have been to thus far. Their food is also really good. The deep fried tofu was great and today I had the deep fried octopus--SO GOOD. The portion size of the octopus is a lot smaller than the tofu (which is more meal sized) but since I had Vietnamese for dinner, the octo was the perfect size for an after dinner snack. Also, the staff is so friendly. The girl behind the register remembered me and how I like my tea! I love that all the food is made in-house so they can actually tell me what's in the food, too. A lot chains have their food distributed to them pre-made from outside suppliers and have no idea. Not here! It's offish. Fat Straw is better than Quickly's. Why haven't you gone here yet? Livermore now has quite a few bubble tea options, but Fat Straw Cafe is my family's favorite! We always have friendly service, no matter who is helping us out, and even when they are super busy we get our drinks in a timely manner. They have a ton of different varieties, and there's always something new (and usually very pretty!) to try. My favorite go-to is a coconut milk tea with tapioca and pineapple jelly. My kids like to get a different smoothie or slush every time we go. The tapioca at fat straw seems to have the best taste out of anywhere we have ever been.
