Bites Tower; starting from savory items at the bottom to sweets up top
    Karina R.

Came for my Sister-in-Law's Birthday, party of 6 on a Saturday afternoon. Very cute interior decor, loved their plating and setup for the food, of course for the tea itself as well! We did the Royal Dream, traditional tea party setup and absolutely loved the sandwiches, savory bites and sweets. Unlimited tea with 2 servings at a time. All the teas we got we really liked! On the pricier side and limited to only about 1hr or 1.5hr of seating time. Towards the end of our reservation, we definitely felt a bit rushed. Handful of people but all managed by their reservation system. All in all, it was a cute experience.

This has been sitting in my drafts for awhile. My husband brought me on a cute day date to The RoyalTEA Garden while my son was at gymnastics. We came during their holiday special time so we were treated with items that I believe aren't on the typical menu. This was our first time visiting which I've been asking my husband to do for awhile. We were seated next to the door which I wasn't too much of a fan of because when it opened I could feel the breeze come in. Luckily it only happened a few times in the beginning. The inside has so many cute items placed around from tea pots to cups to small trinkets you can purchase. We tried about four different teas during our visit, two hot and two cold. We had Pretty Pink Princess, crème brûlée, tropical and I think pear. I can't remember the last one exactly. I enjoyed the crème brûlée warm the best topped with a little sugar cube and a splash of cream. It's cute that each table gets different tea pots and cups. Even on our table both were different too. I enjoyed the lemon curd, strawberry preserves and whipped cream mixed together with my biscuit as the starter. The tower included from bottom to top Cucumber sandwich, egg sandwich and chicken sandwich Meatball with mash and a cranberry topping, shrimp and steak, onion cheese pastry Chocolate macaron, cherry cupcake, chocolate mousse, fruit tartlet and fresh fruit I may have mixed up a few items because there was so much to eat and I didn't have a menu to take a photo of. I enjoyed each layer of food offerings we had but my favorites were the simple cucumber sandwich and the chocolate mousse. When we first got the tower I thought to myself that it wasn't going to be enough food but let me tell you it was! Of course you're paying a lot for the experience but I didn't need to go eat after we left so overall it was a great experience so it was a nice surprise.

3.5 out of 5. Service was good. They were very attentive always came back to check our tease, but I think what set it down was the taste of the food. The biscuits were very dry. The taste of the food was average. Pana cotta was great! Lots of options for tea. Only street parking. Cute t-party vibes interior

This review is from my wife: Just celebrated a baby shower here. Service was good. Tea was hot and good. Very cutes and mom to be was very happy. 2 things that the business can do better and makes me re-consider if I would come again for larger group / special celebrations : -Smaller chairs especially for larger parties. We were a group of 12 that was tucked in the corner and the chairs were so big and bulky. It was difficult to maneuver in and out of the seats to use the restroom. -we were obviously celebrating a baby shower and it felt rushed. And kicked out of the restaurant when we were trying to take pics after. I hope - maybe this was expressed to the planner of the group.

An absolutely fabulous day! We were celebrating my mom's birthday. Staff was pleasant and attentive but not pesty. Food was delicious, so much, we all brought some home too! The space is cozy, yet open, and so pretty. Would highly recommend!!!

My friend and I wanted to do a girls day! We always wanted to do a tea time! I have always had high English tea with my mom in a traditional sense. Traditional tea is hard to find! But I will tell you although this isn't that it is the best around and I will always come back here. From the time of arriving the owner and her staff were so pleasant and inviting. They provided feed back on teas that we should try! Upon arriving they offered me to wait in the garden which was beautiful... they allowed us in and had out table ready! There was a nice biscuit and jam and butter and preserved available. They explained how the service worked and that we would have options to change out our teas... they also explained that each person hot their own tower of food and tea choice!!! Omg the food was awesome and so much. They explained fbier suggestion of how to start eating and we followed their suggestion. Loved the environment so girlie and so me and my friend... we will be back for sure as the price was worth everything

My boyfriend took me here for a surprise date and I was so excited because I'm super into tea experiences and have always wanted to try an english one so this was my first time. The location is very small so seating space is tightly packed and table placement was very questionable. Aside from that, the decor and ambience is cute at a glance but as you look around more and look at the details, the place isn't very well put together. I was surprised by the amount of space that was taken up by random displays of toys and knick knacks for sale. I'm glad seating began exactly at the time reserved, they do not let anyone inside until then to allow enough time for set up. Once you're seated they bring out biscuits along with the other pairings. I was weirded out at the fact that they literally just use their hands to grab a biscuit from the container and place it on your plate..no tongs???..For the price point I would expect more attention to detail and consideration when it comes to serving the items. Being handed food onto my plate with their hands felt oddly informal and almost crude and out of place for a "afternoon tea" experience. They ask for your tea order (you're limited to 2 teas at a time but can try as many as you'd like throughout the experience). The plating of the tiered stands was cute. As far as the food goes it wasn't good. At all. The sandwiches are your standard cucumber tea sandwiches, egg salad, and a wrap. The middle tier had beef wellington bites, a fried shrimp, and quiche. All of which were very bland. The beef Wellington was ATROCIOUSLY dry and tough. The shrimp was soggy and cold along with the quiche. The desserts were equally unimpressive and questionable in both texture and flavor. The table next to us compared it to costco or store bought prepackaged desserts. There were surprisingly more group parties than I had expected since the location is very small it's difficult to accommodate groups and have ample space where you're comfortable. This seems more like a date or 2-3 people kind of thing. But even with just 2 of us, it felt very suffocating since there were mostly large groups. The experience was a fun first time but unfortunately I would definitely not recommend this to anyone considering the quality and cost combined. I think there are other nicer options of tea experiences within the same price range.

My family and I absolutely love afternoon tea, and we have traveled all around the world specifically to experience it, from iconic destinations in Europe to luxury tea rooms abroad. I can confidently say that The Royal Tea Garden in Pleasanton exceeds even some of the most famous high teas, including Harrods and London tea rooms. First, the quality of the food is exceptional. Everything is incredibly fresh, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. I have never been to a high tea that offers items like filet mignon, beef Wellington, and authentic French pastries. As a major foodie, you can immediately tell when ingredients are top tier versus average. This is unquestionably high quality cuisine. I will be honest. I did read some of the negative reviews beforehand and briefly hesitated. I am so glad I did not let that stop me. After experiencing it myself, it is clear that many of those comparisons are simply not valid. What people are comparing this to does not come close to other high teas in the area, let alone internationally. This is not a casual café or a walk in restaurant experience. It is a curated tea experience, and that distinction matters. The service was outstanding. The owners were warm, welcoming, and genuinely passionate about what they do. The servers were incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and made us feel like royalty from the moment we walked in. The level of care and attention added so much to the overall experience. I truly believe that anyone who takes the time to read the website beforehand will fully understand what The Royal Tea Garden offers and why it is so special. Everything is clearly explained, from how tea time works to what the experience includes. When you understand that, you really appreciate the value you receive for the quality, service, and uniqueness of the experience. Its price point especially is something I appreciate, since at $65 per person for the entire meal, tea, and experience it offers way more than other tea places I have tried for much less. Other tearooms I've experienced have charged me closer to triple digits, and I left hungry since most of the meal was desserts. But here, I feel satisfied. This is a destination, not just a meal. If you love afternoon tea and want something elevated, memorable, and world class, I cannot recommend The Royal Tea Garden highly enough.

Beautiful food and ambience. So nice to have our own little taste of London here. The service was fantastic. Everything was brought out hot, delicious, and to our specifications

I took my daughter for her 21 birthday and we had such a lovely time. The food was fantastic and the tea was lovely. The food was EXCELLENT and everything was made in house. We enjoyed everything from the curry chicken wrap to the flakey pinwheels, as well as the fruit muffin topped with whipped cream and the texture the coffee pana cotta was absolutely perfect. I wished we had more time to enjoy, but understand that with such a small venue you have to have a time limit per table. They had a wide variety of teas that makes want to come back for more. I am a stickler for high tea and I would highly recommend this place, it's money well spent.

Savory Course Unique pieces were tasty and enjoyable.

Greeted as soon as walked in and shown to our table which was set beautifully in a pleasantly decorated tearoom. The staff was attentive and our teapots were never left empty. For the food, everything was tasty but I thought if sandwiches were cut in smaller pieces, it would have been easier to eat and look more attractive on plates. Cupcakes were way too big. I would have been happier if they were half in size and maybe another sweets instead. I heard that the owner is related to the people who operate the Italian restaurant next door, so adding something Italian may be interesting. Just a thought :-) I really enjoyed this tea. Would definitely visit again!!

I had a reservation here today with 2 of my girlies and the experience was so nice. The ambiance is cozy but girly like a perfect mix. The service was really great as well. Everyone was kind and attentive. I had the normal food tier option but my friend has a gluten intolerance and I was so happy they had a gluten free menu!!! My other friend is vegetarian and they had that option as well. How lucky is that! It's very difficult to find a place that is so inclusive with dietary restrictions. The food was divine honestly as well as the tea. The tea selection impressed me. Overall my experience here was amazing and I will definitely be booking come summertime to show my friends and family.

A peaceful gem in Pleasanton! The tea garden offers a beautiful atmosphere -- calm, cozy, and full of charm. I had the jasmine pearl tea, and it was perfectly brewed. The staff were kind and really knew their teas. We also tried the rose scones, which were amazing. Great spot to relax or catch up with a friend. Highly recommend!

Ask the Community - The RoyalTEA Garden

What's the noise level here? I'd love to take my mom for tea, but she can't handle loud overhead music that most places have playing.

It wasn't loud when I went. Most you'll experience is people talking loudly but as far as music no. It's super classy

I sent an email today for a Table for 2 reservation on the morning of X-Mas Eve and noticed on your website you were closed today. Will I need to wait until Wednesday for a response? I was hoping to get a response soon.

I can strongly advise that in the future the best way to get a response is not via the public Yelp page, but rather via phone call. That method has always worked best for me in the past.

Can I make a reservation for one?

    Yes.

    Is there outdoor dining?

    No.

How do I am a reservation? I've been calling for days and leaving messages with no luck.

You have to call before their seating times. I called at 10:40am, before opening, and was able to make a reservation. The server said that they aren't supposed to answer calls when serving.

If we are coming with my daughter and a friend (party of 3), can we purchase the pretty princess for my daughter and 1 royal dreams to share the food for the adults plus an extra order of tea so everyone had beverages?

Great question to ask over the phone.

    Is the tea bottomless?

    Absolutely!

How do you make a reservation now? We've been trying (calling/emailing) but haven't gotten any responses.

Hello hun, we apologize for the delay. We have been extremely short on staff. I will make sure the owner calls you tomorrow before 2pm.

Do you cater to nut allergies?

Yes, we do. Also, vegetarian and Gluten Free.

Are walk in's welcome or rsvp only?

We are Reservations only but we do take walkins occassionally if we have the availability.

    Do they offer outdoor dining?

    Yes, we do.
