Fat Straws was (continues to be, actually) an integral part of my DFW upbringing - not even kidding. It has been a consistent part of most celebrations whether it was being done with an exam or a bigger milestone. The drinks are consistently amazing and I've loved anything/everything I've tried over the last decade and longer. Used to come here more in high school and come here now when I'm home for the holidays because it's closer to home than the Dallas location. Their teas are always great as are their slushes! My favorite tea is the Liquid Jade tea which was once "Tea of the Day" and I fell in love with it! With a taste of rose, it's excellent with honey instead of sugar. It has been my go-to for the last few years! It takes them about 2 minutes to steep it since it's not a regular tea people ask for. Most teas they have though -- you can expect to be heading out with them in less than a few minutes if not less than 1 minute! They're very, very fast here. Boba is also consistently great here! The frappes are also excellent and made to perfection. The Vietnamese frappe especially is a favorite. Love this place and you should, too! There's ample seating, although it can get crowded at certain times of the day including late afternoon/evening. But the line is ALWAYS worth it! read more

The "Classic" Milk Tea Boba was VERY BLAND, and the White Peach Tea ended up BLAND with barely any sugar when we said to put in sugar. The Mochi Donuts were cold and wasn't fresh. I was out with my best friend after running around for a little bit. we decided to try this place because I had seen it somewhere and really wanted to try it. the environment and staff were friendly. I attempted to get the split cup - the one where you can have two drinks. Well I wanted to get a milk tea and a regular flavored tea, but was told that they only do a split for double milk tea. So I opted out of that and decided to go with a Taro milk tea, which is what I go for at my regular boba place. The tea was already in my hand before I had finished paying for it. It and long with a few other teas seemed to be pre made. they were kept in big pitchers in a mini fridge. which means that it is not made to order. which I now know that I do not like. The taro milk tea I ordered was overly sweetened and tasted as if was made with condensed milk instead of regular milk. I am not likely to come back. read more

The inside of this place is so cute. The big rainbow "smile" and the wall covered in smiley faces are adorable. The drinks are decent and I commend them on the variety of fruity drinks they have. I tried one of the slushies and it was delicious. I'm personally a fan of milk tea, and the Jasmine milk tea was nice, but I just wish they had more add-ons. I'm so sad to learn they don't have egg pudding :( overall, I can't say I'm blown away, as the menu is pretty typical of most other boba places but the location is good. The inside was clean and had super cute decorations and designs on the wall. The staff was friendly, and offered samples for milk teas. I prefer milk teas over smoothies, their milk teas are especially full of flavor and sweet, how I like it. The prices great, and I love how you can choose a size, rather than them all being in one size only cup. read more

This review is only for the Mochi donuts. I first tried mochi donuts in Hawaii at Modo and these tasted very similar. I ordered a black sesame, matcha, chocolate, and passionfruit flavors. I think the passionfruit icing could be a tad less sweet, but it was still pretty good. The other flavors were pretty on point. The texture of the mochi donut was soft and chewy. I bought four donuts and was saving some for the hubby, but these were so delicious that I had a hard time controlling myself once I tried each flavor. I don't really know many places in the US that have mochi donuts outside California, so I'm so glad Fat Straws is making these fresh in DFW. I prefer mochi donuts over regular donuts and they are far less cakey than most American donuts. The donuts here are more pricey than regular donuts, but I think it's worth it. Overall, I'll definitely be back for the mochi donuts here! read more

One of the best boba spots in Dallas. I like that they use quality ingredients; I see them actually add the avocado to the avocado smoothie I get. I also like that they offer alternative milk options like oat coconut or almond. They use the perfect amount of ice and the boba pearls are perfectly done. You'd think it's hard to mess up boba but a lot of the places don't do any of the above; they rely on cheap sugary powders and water and call it a day. If you get the smoothie sometimes they add so much ice then you end up drinking all the liquid and half your cup is flavorless slushed ice keeping your bobas trapped underneath l. Also a lot if places don't offer dairy free alternatives and simply say the powder is a lactose free isolate. Not here , you get good stuff. read more

I've tried quite a few Mochi donuts and the ones here are by far my favorite. The ones I've had at other places are either too soft and not crispy enough but the texture here is perfect. Please open one in Houston. Haha. :) the only reason why I didn't give them a 5 star is because of the drinks. I got the Dalgona and it was okay. I shook it and was hoping for more coffee flavor but I tasted mostly milk. I'll try other drinks the next time. I will definitely be back again when I'm in Dallas. read more

LOVE Fat Straws! And I love that they're expanding! The Plano Fat Straws used to be my go-to location, but then I moved a bit further south, and Park was a bit north for bubble tea- even if it is delicious bubble tea. So I switched to the Alpha location, which is much closer to home... but parking can be brutal there. The Alpha location is still the closest to my house, but I can easily pass by the Preston location on the way home from work with a small detour! Parking is a little cramped right in front of Fat Straws itself, but there's a huge ol parking lot for the shopping center, so if I had to park and walk, I could. I stopped in a few days after their grand opening, I think, and it was very nice inside- bright white, very clean, basic. The "Smile" picture on the wall is cool and colorful. Everything inside was neat and clean. The employee behind the counter was very personable and made quick conversation while he made by bubble tea. I think I confused him, because he asked how my day was going, and I said, "Great so far! Just got done at the dentist across the street. No cavities! How about you?" He looked confused and said, "Well it's been a few years since I've been to the dentist, so I probably have cavities..." nooo I meant how's your day!! Anyway, the regular milk tea with bubbles is just as delicious here as it is at the other Fat Straws locations. I'll definitely (unfortunately) make several detours on the way home to stop by Fat Straws on Preston for an after work treat. Go check em out! read more

My family and I wanted to try a new boba place, because I'm from New Orleans and our options are limited. I'm a King Fu Tea girl, I love that their milk tea is non-dairy and all that, so when I saw they had non-dairy options, I was excited! So I ordered the jasmine milk tea, non-dairy. When I got it, I saw there was nothing written in the milk area, but I wrote it off because the guy specifically asked me if so wanted non-dairy and I said yes. I drank it and it felt off, but I don't know, some non-dairy substitutes can surprise you! It wasn't until later that day when I felt really sick, and the milk tea was the only exposure to dairy I had. I don't know why my reaction was so bad, I'm not lactose intolerant but I avoid dairy for my own reasons. Other than the mix up, they people were very nice, and the place was cute and clean. I used to drive to Addison for their bubble teas so I am very glad that they are now closer to my path. And this location is much more upscale than the other. The service is fast and attentive. My favorite tea currently is Horchata with bubbles. The cinnamon in it is just right. Or you can pick one of their daily features and be surprised. Not a great location. Was small, messy and empty. Boba is way overpriced. With minimum tip included I ended up paying close to $15 for two regular sized boba teas. That's close to $8 each for a boba tea. Not worth it at all. Plenty of better boba places around. read more
