Coffee is popular again. The desire for sweet treats in Gen Z has become a necessity for many on their commutes to work or in their daily existence. With many coffee experiences focusing on drive-thru only instead of maintaining a café, Dallas-based La La Land Kind Café focuses on curating beautiful and Instagrammable spaces throughout Texas and beyond that not only serve as a way to conveniently get coffee but also as a place that makes you feel comfortable. I have yet to go to the newly opened La La Land in Austin, which I frankly didn't even know had opened until recently, but seeing a La La Land sign glow while visiting NorthPark in Dallas while in town for a wedding made me at least want to give it a shot. The line, however, was intensely long. The La La Land kiosk sat apart from the other food court restaurants but still had that same look. No designated seating, but it felt like a micro version of their traditional storefronts. The entire aesthetic of La La is very white, like a fresh pair of Nike Air Forces. It almost makes you worried you're gonna scuff the place up somehow. The line, though long and stretching past the Paciugo next door, moved pretty quickly as they seemed to be getting orders out as fast as they were taking them. Once it was my turn to order, I got a simple La La Latte with espresso, presumably their standard. I could have also ordered it with matcha, but espresso is my go-to. I opted for this iced-only drink because, though they offer hot beverages, iced drinks seem to be their specialty and also what has made them the viral coffee shop that they are. I got my drink after only waiting a short period of time, in this unique, almost sippy cup like container with a yellow sleeve and lid. The sleeve had a Thanksgiving and fall theme reading, "thankful for you." Aw shucks. What I like about La La Land, regardless of whatever I say, is their morals as a company. Their mission statement is entirely built on kindness and the desire to help give opportunities to foster youth, leading to a lot of their employees and baristas being foster youth themselves, helping them in their transition to adulthood. That is sick. I don't really care if they're too "trendy" or too "basic." It is never basic to have love and compassion or too mainstream to want to uplift others. It always has been and always will be awesome. The coffee, to me, is fine. I think there is a market for coffee that is focused on putting so much milk, flavor, and sugar into it that it masks the flavor of the espresso because most people don't actually care for espresso. I just think it might be too much for me. Clearly, it's popular, and it is doing what it wants to do. I think I'll have to try it again sometime and stay for a while. Their pastries (including their pop tart) looked amazing, and maybe I need to try a drink that matches more of my style. The lines at this location in North Park can get ridiculously long so they must be doing something right. For me, I don't really get it. I am not a coffee or latte drinker so maybe I am not the right person to review this service. The kid and I were going to a movie at AMC in North Park and she wanted a cookie before the movie. So we stood in a line for a while to order a single cookie. Then we had to wait again to get the cookie. Why they could not just hand us a cookie and let us be free from this madness is beyond me. On the positive side, the kid liked her chocolate chip cookie. The food offerings are extremely limited and they seem to sell out. I am not sure whether they replenish anything because on the menu there were numerous items that said "sold out." As a non-coffee drinker, I have little reason to subject myself to this experience again. read more

Lala Land has been on my visit list for over 2 years. I was finally able to visit during my trip to Dallas. There is parking onsite and also a walk up window. The yellow envokes happiness. The interior is bright and "sunny", a very happy feeling. Since I was cold I wanted a warm drink. After talking to the barista about my likes, she recommended me to order the pumpkin pie cloud latte. I opted for the large almond milk and dairy free cloud. OMG my drink was AMAZING!! I also tried the pop tart pastry. It was so yummy and you can tell that it was made with love. I definitely plan on revisiting. I recommended this place to someone that's local to the area that never tried it and they've gone every week since my recommendation. read more

I wanted to visit the prettier standalone locations of this cafe when I went to Dallas, but I wasn't sure if I'd be able to fit it into my itinerary. Luckily, I passed by this kiosk at the mall. It was super packed when I first passed by early afternoon, but the line had eased up a little when I passed the second time (though there was still a lot of people waiting). The branding is so cute, and I love the burst of positive energy from all of the bright yellow and cute messages. I had the butterfly matcha latte with almond milk, and my brother had the lavender bloom matcha latte. The matcha was mixed expertly and tasted great. The colors looked super pretty. The butterfly pea powder doesn't really taste like much, though it's nice and sweet enough to compliment the earthiness of the matcha. The lavender bloom tasted lovely and floral without being too perfume-y. Are the drinks a tad expensive? Perhaps, but not much more than other good matcha drinks out there. It's probably not a place to go if you're a coffee connoisseur, but for being pretty and instagrammable, I feel the drinks didn't suffer. read more

The place is really busy as it's inside the mall and it's sandwiched between other two food spots. The line can get really long but all the workers work very fast. The cookie croissant was crispy outside and was soft inside with cookie dough filling which I loved. It might be too sweet for some if you're not a sweet tooth but it was perfect for me. To get the full experience I'd recommend to go to one of their actual locations since the yellow decor and the ambiance feels less hectic and warm. They're also currently having banana crème coffees that goes to support the fire in California which I also appreciate. This is the limited peach matcha latte and I only ordered it because of a collab they were doing with Rare Beauty where if you order, you can get a free beauty sample. I had high hopes, but the second they called my name and I saw this matcha latte with literal bright neon pink syrup at the bottom, I knew I was doomed. On what world is a peach syrup bright pink. I had such genuine concern on why it was this color because it seems so unnatural??? it was truly so uncanny. Anyways, even mixing it all together to combine with the matcha, I could not get past the flavor. I had to throw more than half of it away. I don't know what went wrong .... Went here twice in the past few days while here on a short work trip. Service was fast and the workers were very kind each time! I like the music they play. I ordered their specialty valentines day matcha the first time. I really liked it because it remind me of the strawberry shortcake ice cream bar meets matcha! I wish I could give zero stars. I went to this location today, and it was a truly awful experience. I was called over to the counter(the employee called from behind the counter asking if we wanted to order), and then the staff member just laughed and told me they were closed. I was humiliated and treated with such disrespect. The employee clearly didn't care about customer service or making people feel welcome. I will never go back to this location again, and I would advise others to avoid it as well. This cafe is titled the "kind cafe", which is ironic given the employees were anything but kind. read more

Saw that this was opened since we last came to Northpark. We decided to try it and paid $9 for what I thought was a decent sized latte as I saw the cups. I wasn't asked size. I ordered the Buddha latte with oatmilk and extra shots. I got handed a super small cup 12oz bottle that was Luke warm and tasted like milk. With 4 shots in that small of a cup, it should've been strong. I could barely taste the coffee and wonder if they even added although I was charged. It was very disappointing and overpriced. I couldn't even taste the cardamom which was supposed to be the flavor in the drink. Absolute waste of money even though the yellow cups are cute and the look is cute. read more

A customer beside me, however, had her cup full. If I am paying that much for a drink, I expect to get the full drink. I've been to a few locations and the drinks are consistently delicious. It's located on the 2nd floor near the food court, next to Auntie Annes. This will be my go to beverage spot in Northpark now. The staff is really nice, the line moves quickly, and the matcha (and coffee) drinks are great. I love the la la matcha latte and the perfect matacha latte. I've gotten the butterfly matcha latte before, and it's good. It tastes like fruity pebbles (just like the menu says), but I feel like you lose the taste of the matcha itself. I would skip the french toast matcha latte and get the normal coffee french toast latte instead; the french toast/cinnamon flavor masks any matcha taste there's supposed to be (though it's still delicious). Great spot for your matcha and coffee needs while at Northpark! read more
