Wow the mochi donuts are incredible!!!!! Those are worth the drive alone. Chewy fought and really delicious icing make this a really great treat! As for the tea, I really enjoyed my Thai milk tea, which I ordered with extra Boba. I love the boba here because it's super chewy! Sigh. The taro milk tea barely tasted like taro. I thought I maybe was just being a hater, so I had my husband drink it without saying anything to him, and he said, "That tastes like vaguely milky tea, but I don't taste any taro." Okay, justified. Same story with my husband's strawberry black tea...it was super watery. Both were half-full of ice, and the pearls (or, meh, "bubbles") were overcooked and/or had been sitting too long and gotten soggy. Having lived in California for almost five years, I can tell you boba should only be done with a very thin layer of ice, with the drink shaken to be mixed and chilled thoroughly (thus a thin layer of ice is all that's needed). Then the boba pearls are added. The boba (pearls) should be soaked in honey, and sitting pearls should be tossed out every 3 hours and replaced with a fresh batch. There are places in Dallas that come close to this. Fat Straws is hardly one of them. And those prices? They should be ashamed. 50 cents extra charge for pearls, too?! Just be honest: price it at the full price and let the 2% of people who don't want the pearls just omit them. I'm rating the price at $$ on Yelp because for boba, this is definitely not $. read more

It's hard to go wrong at Fat Straws, but some of my favorite drinks are the horchata (seasonal), let's mango smoothie, strawberry slush, and green tea milkshake. I always add bubbles, but the fruit jellies are also a popular option. Recently, Fat Straws started serving mochi donuts. I was sceptical at first, but they are light and delicious! This is the best bubble tea place in town. The customer service is amazing. They recognize me and greet everybody with a hello when they walk through the door. Once I order (the exact same thing every time) I sit down then automatically get back up to get my drink. They're that fast. Just to prove their customer service is great, a car got hit outside the shop and one of the employees went to the stores nearby to find the owner of the hit car. He gave the license plate number of the car that hit him. I love this place and have gone here multiple times with my friends.
