Every time I come in to this place it doesn't matter who is working or if it's super busy I am always greeted with a warm welcome by the friendly staff at the front counter. Really good tea, and good and quick service. They also they have non-dairy creamer for milk teas which is great when dairy is not your friend all the time. Will be returning to check that out :) I got the Hibiscus Cooler, which was good. It was tart and meshed well with the sweetness of the bubbles. However, it didn't replace my love of Mango Green. Tall skinny guy with a beard working at the front counter has a serious attitude problem (Preston/Forest location). The location on Alpha Rd. is much better in terms of both customer service and the taste of the drinks. Not sure what this cashier's issue was at this location, but if you don't like working with people, don't take a job where that's your primary role. Only the Alpha Rd. location will get my business going forward --- the staff at this location needs more training. I order the same drink from Fat Straws all the time (which is on the menu, nothing crazy), yet somehow this location made it to where the smoothie tastes chalky and dry? Not sure. The girl making it must've been new because the tall skinny dude with the attitude kept telling her how many scoops of what to put in. What a mess. I love this place and so do my boys. It's always a nice option when I want to treat my sons and their friends to something cool and refreshing after school. The tapioca pearls taste fresh and al dente. The tea is REAL, brewed, not some sweet artificially-flavored syrup diluted w water. As far as my sons can tell their smoothies contain real fruit too. I really enjoy this fat straws location. They are fast, efficient, and always clean. The only downside I would say is the boba bubbles tends to be harder/chewier in the afternoon or around closing. This may just be because they are sitting out all day. Drinks with boba tend to be much better during the day! read more

I love fat straws and have been going to the location at alpha and the Dallas North Tollway for about 1 year. I am vegan so I only used to get teas because I didn't know that substitutions were a possibility. However, the new location clearly states on the menu that you can dairy milk for coconut, almond, or soy milk for an additional .65 cents. I was so excited! I decided to try a strawberry piña colada smoothie. I asked the man who was behind the counter if the smoothie had any other dairy products and he said no. There was a language barrier but there still should have been someone around who could answer whether or not their products have milk in them. Later that night I felt awful. It didn't take me long to realize that the thing smoothie must have had dairy. I go back the next day and order a fruit tea, and ask a different employee, one that was considerably more fluent if the smoothies had dairy. He says that there is milk in the powder they use. So, what is the point of having alternatives if you are still using dairy powder? Please, please, please, Fat Straws, clearly mark on your menu what items contain dairy, even with substitutions, and which do not. read more

Was told this was owned by the same owners as the Plano branch. Maybe my high school self had really bad taste buds or maybe their quality is declining, but I stand by my first rating. I always get the Thai Tea. Sometimes the flavor is a little heavy, but I water it down into another cup when I get to the office--making it almost perfect, I get two cups for the price of one haha. The consistency of the boba is good, some are frozen together in clumps, so maybe they can stir it more often. They're fast, which is great. Went to try this place out last night with my sister after work, turns out the place is decent. The actual location itself was very nicely presented with appealing colors and a clean space inside. The service was friendly and VERY quick on making the beverages. It was almost too quick and it made me wonder if the drinks were made well. I got the Taro Milk Tea, but unfortunately that was a mistake. It was very iced down and the actual flavor itself was hardly present. If I ever come back I'll have to do something stronger like the frappe. But that will be a downfall in itself, these prices are not that great. I got the milk tea and a large starting at $3.62 seems fine, but what's a boba tea without boba?... well that's when I didn't see it was an additional .50 cents, no problem sure... but then with tax the total ended up being almost $5. And that's for a iced filled milk tea. The frappe was more expensive too. I can get a better boba tea (a smoothie/frappe version) elsewhere for the same price as their watery milk tea, boba included. If I ever come back it will be because I'm in the area, but I live 40 minutes from it so I doubt I will. read more
