The older gentleman at the counter was super nice and quick to make our drinks. We shared a churro mochi donut and it was great! Chewy and flavorful but not too sweet. Brown Sugar pumpkin cream with boba- 8/10 The drink its self was delicious and sweet- the pumpkin cream added a light spice throughout the drink. The boba pearls were noticeably not fresh- they were too chewy and didn't add any flavor. I'd skip the boba next time. Strawberry Matcha- 7/10 not too sweet but didn't taste quite like matcha either. Was disappointed with my drink after passing this place a few times, figured I'd stop in for a nice cold milk tea on this hot day. The place is cute, staff is friendly and helpful. However my drink is where they failed, which is unfortunately the main thing I needed them to get right! LoL I ordered a Lavender Milk tea, but once I received it all it tasted was like milk and sugar. No lavender flavor AT ALL. For this I could've just stirred up some cold milk and sugar at my house. Was disappointed but had already driven off at this point so I was just stuck with it. I'm not saying I wouldn't recommend it. Tasted just like werther's originals candies But we were not disappoint by the lemon poppyseed! A lot of lemon flavor but not overly sugary. If you have never had a mochi doughnut imagine a very soft yeast donut that has chew to it and topped with a light glaze. Light and sweet. The service at this location was unmatched! She took her time with my 6 year old and answered all my questions of why they took the original off the menu lol. The store was very clean and located in a walkable area, so after dinner at one of the nearby restaurants you can go grab a donut to take home. The staff is very ignorant of food allergies. I mentioned my daughter has Celiac and needs to avoid wheat based products. The girl at the counter was confused and said it si the same as organic and vegan. I tried to explain that they are not and that intensified the condition that we had to leave. I echo that of other Yelp reviewers when I say that Fat Straws has fast and friendly service. I came to pick up mochi donuts round 7PM on a Tuesday. This location had almost all the flavors available at only limited quantities so I was lucky to be the last person to buy up most of the last batch; there were about 9 flavors when I came in. I ordered a dozen mochi donuts and a dalgona coco (no pearls). I didn't have expectations for the dalgona because I've made it at home but the "coco" really made all the difference! The staff said it was one of her favorites so I took a chance and it's a drink I'll definitely get again for the price and the flavor. The mochi donuts were not as chewy as I expected from my experiences with mochi donuts in the past but the super cute pink box and the assortment of flavors really made up for it. I really recommend ordering this if you want to try with others because the flavors are really interesting. Our favorites were the coffee and black sesame. It is a little pricy (almost $40) for a dozen but I recommend the splurge if you've never had mochi donuts and want to try all the flavors. read more

Our favorite bubble tea ever, the classic milk tea is the way to go. We live in Austin but when we visit Dallas we try to stop by and grab a couple of large milk teas to go because no one else compares to Fat Straws. Even better, you can order a GALLON of just the milk tea (and maybe other items too- call to ask) for $15, and the bubbles for it for $13 (as of Oct 2019). This was a dream come true to be able to take a full gallon home with us and share it with our friends. Fruitealicious is another local chain, and I think it's much better. I do appreciate them but I don't think they're great. There's somewhere between okay and good. And if a lot of cute girls come here, it's Thot Straws. And if Ben Affleck comes here, it's Bat Straws. And if Starlight comes here, it's Cat Straws. I haven't had an amazing drink here yet but they haven't been bad either. Service has been really nice at all the locations we've been to - which is three or four now I think. My favourite thing about this place is definitely the pictures that Barbie took here. There are some interesting sunlight Shadows cast inside so it's not great for pictures but it's better than nothing. A lot better. And if you come here to talk, not drink, it's Chat Straws. And if the employees *really* don't like you, it might be Spat Straws. And if a Middle Eastern legend comes here, it's Arafat Straws. And if Mr Mackey comes here, it's MrHat Straws. It gets pretty packed in here, and the AC isn't so great in warm weather (which in Dallas is about 13 months a year). It's a good hangout spot, although a bit dated. Must be one of the older locations - possibly the original. And if you fall out of the tall building across the street, it's Splat Straws. Fat Straws is very good. Their boba tea is good and not too expensive, and their new mochi donuts are AMAZING. The boba tea: it's pretty standard. I don't need anything fancy for my boba tea and noticed that their milk tea is one of their specials right now so I even got it for a great price. The mochi donuts: GET ONE. I got one, and should've gotten more! I asked for a rec and was told to try the Churro one. Got it and it was incredible. Fat Straws is okay bubble tea. It's near a huge shopping mall, so you should totally stop for some bubble tea after you're done with your shopping. This place has variety of caffeine free drinks, slushes which are made from fresh fruit. If you are looking for less sugar, ask them to avoid adding the syrups. We order mango strawberry Fresca tea and mango slushy, slushy was in sweater side as they added some syrups which I realized after the fact. Staff was good and welcoming! read more

After visiting the Preston location, I had to visit this place! I got the black sesame chewy puff again because I liked it so much the first time. I also got the cookies and cream chewy puff, just to change it up a bit, instead of my go-to matcha order. I still would rank the black sesame one the highest! I liked the vibe of the Preston location more - it feels more roomy, colorful, and bright. I also felt that the donuts were more fresh at the Preston location, but I still very much enjoyed the chewy puffs I got here! They have very fast service - I was in and out of the store within minutes. There is a parking lot available outside the store, and it is shared with other businesses in the area. There is plexiglas between customers and the staff, so I felt safe visiting the store despite COVID. There is no indoor seating. I was in a rush & made a simple order for boba tea on my way to my destination. I was informed that it would be ready in 20 minutes for curbside pick up. When I arrived and gave them 10 extra minutes (total 30 minutes for a simple boba order), I saw that a car that was unattended to was parked at their curbside pickup spot. During this covid19 pandemic, I wanted to avoid going out of the car because there were already 4 customers inside their ordering area. I was visiting the area for my fiance's work trip so I had to try every flavor they offered so I knew what to get when I come back ;) The donuts themselves were soft and chewy. Very different texture from yeast or cake donuts I'm used to eating but I liked it! They were not overly sweet which I loved. My favorite donut ended up being the black sesame because it had a subtle peanut buttery taste to it. The salted caramel was a close second. I went in to fat straws wanting a yummy drink despite being on a special diet which restricts caffeine or dairy. I saw they serve nut and soy milk so I hoped they would make me a drink. I really just wanted a drink with the tapioca bubbles. I asked the cashier if she could make me a large drink with soy milk and taro sweetened with honey with regular bubbles. The cashier was so confused but after telling her about my special diet she understood and made me the drink. She put 2 tablespoons of honey in the drink and didn't put the lavender tea. When I tell you the drink was so yummy that is an understatement! It was BOMBBB!!! Everything I ever dreamed of. I ended up spending $5 but it was so worth it! Fat straws did not disappoint me! Located in a plaza nearby the galleria mall, you will see lots of young customers and all varieties of people comes here for the good drinks and items off the menu. My favorite drink here has to be the avocado shake. My favorite of all time here and it's better than most Vietnamese restaurant that I've been to. It's made perfect and not too sweet. The mochi donuts are amazing too and there are several selections you can try like green matcha , coconut , and sesame are amazing . This is the first time I tried a mochi donut and it's pretty good. I ended up ordering 6 of the donuts because I wanted to try all the flavors (black sesame, coconut pandan, cookies and cream, strawberry, blueberry, and matcha). Describing the consistency of the donuts, they are soft and chewy! All the flavors were delicious but my favorite would have to be matcha. Flavors for the icing were strong but not overpowering. I also ended up ordering a peach-mango smoothie with tapioca. It was good, but it wasn't the best I've ever had.
