Every time I take a trip back home to Brooklyn, one place that always makes its way onto my must-visit list is Fatboy's Vegan Burgers. On my most recent visit, I ordered the vegan chopped cheese sandwich, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors were on point, the ingredients tasted fresh, and you could tell the food was prepared with care. It was everything I was hoping for and another reminder of why I keep coming back whenever I'm in Brooklyn. One thing I particularly appreciate about this spot is that the food is made fresh right in front of you. There's something special about watching your meal come together and knowing you're getting it hot and fresh. The service was excellent, as always. The owner is incredibly kind, patient, and welcoming, creating an atmosphere that makes customers feel appreciated. It's a small takeout spot - standing room only - with a self-serve flat screen and a counter. The vibe is very backyard woodshed with a grill. There were about 4 other Yelpers and a couple of other customers in line when I arrived and was told it was going to be at least a 30 minute wait. There was only 1 person working! (Poor guy!) I tried the Vegan Haiji which is their version of a chopped cheese and added an Impossible patty, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions, and Wu Sauce. It comes on a hamburger roll instead of a hero which I wasn't expecting and honestly didn't think to ask. The burger was messy, but tasty and the Wu Sauce added a nice kick. I got the Fatty Tots - which were just plain tator tots. They were deliciously crispy - even after warming the leftovers up a few hours later. They're pretty salty so I would suggest adding one of their signature sauces like the Fatboy ranch to balance it out. I'll recommend it to my vegan friends who live in the area but I probably won't go again unless I'm visiting. read more

The best vegan burger I've had! They have selection for both beyond and impossible patty. I personally love beyond more and got the fatty patty with beyond and got beyond tenders on the side. We got the deuce-sauce and it was amazing. The wu sauce was a little strange - it has agave but was also a little spicy? There was only one person running the entire store - he was the chef and the cashier. He was definitely a bit overwhelmed but it didn't stop him from making mouth watering vegetarian burger! My sister works a block and a half from here and she has never mentioned it to me. So, I decided to give them a try with my parents. It's a very small burger joint, I can't imagine what it's like during lunch on weekdays! It's pretty simple, being able to build three types of burgers with a variety of toppings and homemade sauces to choose from. And it's all vegan! The coolest thing about this place is that smashburgers are super popular, but I've never seen a place that makes vegan smash burgers. You can either pick beyond meat, impossible meat, or mix the two (60/40 ratio w/ 'bacon' bits) for the patty. I meant to ask how they came up with that ratio, but perhaps I will whenever next time is. I got a petite patty with jalapenos, lettuce, peppers, cheese (Violife), and their homemade Wu-Sauce. The burger was fantastic. The burgers start at $10, and you can add some sides like loaded tater tots and more. And I love the potato bun that they use. This has to be one of the best vegan burger spots I've had personally. From how everything is seasoned to the texture. The vegan hajji didn't taste exactly like a chopped cheese but the crispy exterior and seasoned 60/40 patty was really good. If I was vegan that would be my go to because I enjoyed it. I recently came from Toronto and was craving poutine, so I got the messy tots. The gravy wasn't as salty as regular poutine gravy but it came together well. Just had the worst experience ever here. I came in and stood at the front counter for 15 minutes and nobody acknowledged me. I literally had to ask these dudes. Are they working and can I place an order and they say "oh, yeah" they were talking on their phones while playing in their hair making people food. I finally remembered to take pictures of my burger before demolishing it! I've now had Fatboy's six (6) times and they've never missed! Not only are the burgers consistently bomb but so are the tots and the customer service! I've only had the 60/40 blend burger patty which, in terms of consistency, reminds me of a smash burger. The flavor is always great. The toppings are fresh and the sauces are thoughtful and well executed. Now the tots!! Whether they're thotty, messy or plain, baby they are always fried to perfection! I came here after a workout, I was starving and this really hit the spot. The food was prepared super quick. I had the Impossible Burger/Beyond Burger mix with Wu Sauce and some tater tots. I was almost tempted to take another burger home with me for later. I will definitely be ordering delivery from this spot, and look forward to trying other items on the menu. I just so happen to see this place on Yelp, and i decided to try it out. It wasn't bad. I went with my cousin and we ordered 2 burgers, i can't remember the names of them. One was a double patty, with vegan cheese and tots. It came with a lot of fixings, and mine was a single patty topped with vegan chicken tenders smothered in bbq sauce. I also got a side of tots and the ranch. We also ordered a Snapple and a flavored seltzer water. Tbh, the burger was good. However, it did have a weird aftertaste. I'm not sure what that was, but it wasn't pleasant at all. The ranch was kinda watery and without flavor. Those are the only negatives. We got the 60/40 Pattie's. The burgers were good. They tasted like real burgers, the cheese was melted and nice, and again, all the fixings. My tenders were okay. Couldn't tell it wasn't chicken (without the weird aftertaste) but, all in all, I'll go back and try them again. I'm looking to expand my vegan ways. So burgers are always a great way to go. Full disclosure, I am not a vegetarian/vegan so take this review with a grain of salt. I'm probably not the target customer for this restaurant. My fiancé and I ordered 60/40 fatty patty cheese burgers with sides of savory tater tots and spicy tater tots. The meal was very filling. I thought the burger was good but my fiancé said it had an aftertaste she wasn't a fan of. Adding more ketchup and mayo to the burger helped. Neither of us were fans of the seasoning on both orders of the tots but having them with ketchup made it ok. read more

I love a little kick in my food so bring it on. I am hooked on the fatty tots and the petite patty. Who knew tater tots could taste so DAMN good? I loved the healthy portion too. They got my order wrong and I told them about it, they printed out a receipt. They said I could use that receipt to redeem another burger. However, they must be suffering from amnesia. When I returned to redeem my burger, they said they knew nothing about it. Even after they fixed the burger, they refused to give it to me. Instead they shouted at me as if I'm the culprit. I believe in patronizing vegan restaurants since they struggle to stay alive. I'm not sure if Fatboys will survive with that attitude. Oh my goodness! I'm so glad I stopped by! This was my first time. The staff are so friendly, helpful and patient. I decided in the petite patty made with beyond burger meat with some grilled mushrooms, red onions and lettuce smothered in the fat boy sauce. The smell pretty much told me that I made the right decision and I couldn't wait to sink my teeth in. SWEET BABY JESUS OF NAZARETH! My burger tasted like if five guys and an NYC deli had a greasy, delicious, cholesterol free baby. My petite patty was huge and meaty, gooey with cheese, loaded with unlimited toppings on a soft, warm potato bun. Now I'm not gone lie, it was hella empty in this place. On the good side I was able to get my foood pretty fast, literally right out the grease. Now I'm not the vegan type person. I mean, I like burger burgers, like cow burgers...but this burger was lokwey slapping. I got like the original burger, I like to stick to the classics. Fatboy's Vegan Burger's is just one of those local feel good eats that you get when you crave it. FBV serves up vegan takes on classic burgers and tater tots. While I waited to pick up my order, I heard two patrons discussing how the place was so good and "F*** a very well known fast food chain". They went on to discuss how the prices are in the same range for less quality. I love that this place is vegan most times if I want a vegan burger I have to settle for one at a non-vegan restaurant or make one myself. One thing to note is that the place is pretty popular and there is often a wait. On two occasions that I visited there was only one employee operating the place which also contributes to the wait time. read more
