If you want a cheap mover who doesn't care about you and your valuables and doesn't take the time to educate you about your move then you have got the wrong company because this is NOT them!!! Father's and Sons Moving was excellent with my move! They called me and kept me informed about what was going on and took the time to make sure they quoted me the correct price by spending the time to go over step by step the items I was going to move. They came when they said they would moved everything I had and more. I didn't realize that I still had more things for them to bring and they were more then willing to move it! I only moved from Burlington,MA to Quincy,MA but it went smoothly and without a hitch. I had all my boxes taped with packing tape but they took the time (I didn't realize they did until I started to unpack in Quincy) to use even more packing tape to make sure my boxes didn't break. They even saw I still had a few things hanging up in my closet and not pack, so they went down to the truck (3 flights, no elevator) and brought up hanging boxes or whatever you call them. My TV wasn't in the box yet (it was a mangled box since I had it under my bed) and they took care of the box and wrapped up my tv. 3 guys did the job is less time then they had thought, very pleasant, helpful guys who were willing to do their job and go above and beyond. They even took the time to help me figure out where a few items should go in my apartment and didn't charge me a dime extra for anything they did. I would recommend as I had no problem with them and they were courteous, on time and all around good people to work with. I got a number of quotes from movers and some were cheaper but none took the time to actually ask where my move was in relation to the doors, elevators, parking, etc. read more

I had Father and Movers years ago it was the worst day of my life. it still gives me anxiety thinking about it. I believe they kept some of my items. were supposed to pick up 2 places totally did not go to one had to send them back. The movers had on leather jackets as if they plucked them off the street. payment was an issue. All in all HORRIBLE!!!! read more

This company is dishonest and a scam! Don't say I didn't warn you. Their rep Michael told me they could handle my complete move from Boston to California. He quoted me one price. It turned out to be double! I have had to deal with three other companies who extorted money from me and had possession of my belongings. After paying a moving company in the Bronx who told me that they had my belongings in storage, I did not receive my furniture. Only some boxes and bins that were busted up and delivered to me by some guy who told me he is only a driver! This company is under investigation by the attorney general's office and should be out of business. Very sad moving company. In 2013, A friends of mine in-laws were moved from Wareham up to Haverhill. They were quoted $829 for the move. They turned up late number 1 at the pick up spot. They moved everything up to Haverhill, Mass and then as they were unloading the items from truck, they sprung a new amount to the old couple of over $1600. Lets remember that the two people they were moving up here were in their 80's. When the truck trucker (movers) were told the old couple didn't have any more money to pay them, the company held the old couples belongings for hostage until the over $1600 was paid. The attorney generals office was notified and they got involved right away as well as elder affairs for Massachusetts and local churches. The company finally gave in and returned the belongings a few days later under pressure from the Attorney Generals office for Massachusetts. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. They lie and cheat you further if you do not pay them a hostage fee for your belongings they are moving. Check with the Massachusetts State Attorney Generals Office if you don't believe me. They have had several complaints against them over the years. Find a reputable moving company instead. read more

Beware for Long Distance Move: It has literally taken me a couple of months to tone it down before sharing a review on my recent move from NH to NC Sept 2019. Every potential customer should know what I encountered, read all reviews and then determine if this company is the right fit for them. I went with Father & Sons Moving & Storage because I had two great moving experiences with them for local moves. With that said, my long-distance move was simply stated "a nightmare." I was advised that by going with them for local distance, I was assured of the professionalism of the movers and timeliness of the move. That was a completely a false statement; supported by one young man who was helping with the move, who told me he saw the add on the internet and was just told to show up - no experience; need I say more. The driver was the only "professional" and that is a stretch. My things were not handled with care, boxes contained broken items when I opened - and these were the ones (few) packed by the movers from the point of origin; I packed 90% of everything. I could share more but I'm sure you get the point. Also, before all my things were unloaded 2 of the 4 had to leave. I still ended up giving the driver $50 per person because I felt that was the right thing to do and he did put together my bed frame - I don't know who and if he shared, I'm assuming he did. Today is day 32 of the move - still no delivery, though the manger Mike had promised it would be here Tuesday, or this morning at the latest. I've finally, after a month, had to resort having my attorney take legal action. Still no call from an owner or anyone else in charge. Also BEWARE of fake positive reviews here - accounts with no friends, or other reviews. This company has even tried to blame yelp and me for giving a negative review! I've been more than patient, and waiting until the company was late with the delivery before I took to social media. You can look at the other reviews I've given over the years, they are almost all positive, so it's not like I'm out to 'get' this company. The only thing I want to get - is my furniture delivered. The furniture which was picked up over a month ago, and as of now, is still not here. Do yourself a favor and go to consumer affairs .com and the better business bureau where there are hundreds and hundreds of complaints and reviews about this company. It's not just me. Finally, the delivery is scheduled for tomorrow, a day I said I wouldn't be here, since I booked a flight back out of town. I've had to cancel that flight at my own cost, to avoid missing delivery (if it actually shows up) because otherwise they threatened to charge me redelivery and new storage fees if I can't receive it. The only positive note, is that the manager,Mike, said that since it's so late, they will knock off 30 a day after 14 business days, so that helps a little. I moved on 2/15. My items just arrived to Florida on 3/14. Why would it take just shy of a month to get my belongings to me? I moved a whole house-and have been living item-free and without anything in my new place. Poor correspondence from the main office. Took days to call me back! At one point, I thought they had lost my items! I was confident in this company, as my prior agency I worked for contracts with them. I live out of state but my mother lives in Massachusetts and needed to move a total of 5 items to her new home. She went with Father & Son Moving and did not complain about this to the company, so I felt the need to make it public. She had mentioned to the movers when they arrived that she would need to pay via credit card - she had taken care of a lot of things the morning of the move (meeting with the internet provider, meeting with her landlord to officially close on her condo, etc.) and didn't have time to stop at the bank before they arrived. When all was said and done and they had moved her things into her new place, my mom told them they did a great job, and they asked for a tip. My mom felt bad that she didn't have any cash and couldn't tip, reminding them she hadn't gotten to stop at the bank. They then conferred with each other in a different language, then turned back to my mother and said "Do you live here alone?" My mom responded with "Excuse me? What is that supposed to mean?" They didn't elaborate and left. As someone with a mother on her own whose safety and well-being I worry about constantly from afar, this is just absolutely unacceptable and horrifying. She needed to call after her move to correct them overcharging her (the move took 2 hrs, not 3, and she needed to hassle them to refund her for the hour). Once the refund was said and done, she said she felt like too much time had gone by to call about the comment they made. Leaving this review mainly out of concern for others going forward. Had a friend recommend Father and Son and we're glad we did hire them, 3 guys showed up on time ,well prepared and polite and organized. They were hard working and very careful in every move they made, they took the time and wrapped just about every piece of furniture by using moving blankets and tape,asked what and where we wanted things to go when we arrived and asked all day to make sure they complied, Would highly recommend them as we don't plan on moving again but both my kids will someday and this is the place we will call. This was my third move with father and Son...they always arrive on time, are careful with the furniture items and work efficiently. This was a simple point A to point B move, executed flawlessly. Didn't bat an eyelash when my heaviest pieces needed to go up to the third floor. Furniture items were disassembled and reassembled with care when necessary. The prior moves I did with them involved moving furniture from the city, holding it in storage for a few months, and then delivering some pieces to one location, picking up some pieces from that same drop off point, and then moving everything together into a townhouse. Not an easy move to coordinate - but they made it look easy. Hard workers, and although I hope to never move again, if I do, I know exactly who I'm calling - Father and Son - worth every penny! read more

They completely underestimated my move. Forgot to tell me I had to pay 1 month storage up-front on the day of the move and charged me to wrap my mattress in plastic (I was storing it for 3 months). They only accept cash and it was a big problem that they went waaaay over what I had ready. They told me I could request the same team when I moved in my apartment so I did. But a new team showed up. The workers were great. It's the office staff that suck so bad. While my stuff was in storage, they kept sending me bills and after I paid, they would send me late notices saying they were selling my stuff. As I was unpacking, I realized I was missing a couple items. Nobody from claims ever called me back. Im not surprised. Pay a little more and use someone else. This could have been a great review, but my experience had two parts to it, the move itself and the cost of the move... The good. The were on time, moved quickly and were pretty cautious with everything that they were moving. If the whole experience went this way they would have gotten five stars. The bad. When it came time to pay they wanted $150 more than what I had been quoted over the phone. I was quoted by 4 different people the same price. I refused to pay it and only paid what I was quoted (after fights on the phone with the company and a few four letter words dropped). The ugly. They're cash only and were obviously trying to make some extra money on me. In fact, when my boyfriend and I looked at the paperwork they had, it reflected the original cost. I think they were just trying to pocket the extra cash. Unless you get everything in writing, I would be very weary of using them. read more

Horrible horrible horrible. Worst possible day ever Literally seven hours late. WHO is seven hours late and can get away with that. And the worse thing was the dispatcher literally kept saying, they will be in an hour, then will be there in 30 minutes, they will be there in 20 minutes. I don't care WHAT sort of business you run, and what day of the year it is, you can't be seven hours late with the new tenants moving in and your former landlord threatening to put all your stuff on the sidewalk. Exactly WHAT is the point of making a reservation if you not going to be there at that time (OR in that ballpark of a time). By the fourth call WHOEVER we talked to on the other line literally told us "to stop f**** bugging them or we won't get any movers." OK so threats are awesome and make my day ever better. ALSO we when they did actually show up it was alluded to that the reason they were SO late is because they accepted another job for the same time (for double the money?). Whatever these people are SO unprofessional, fucking idiots. And then they won't take off the last item out of the truck till we paid them, what freaking assholes. This company is absolutely HORRIBLE and I am being nice when I say HORRIBLE. First they give me a quote which was reasonable compared to the other movers when considering I was moving from St. Petersburg, Florida to Boston and I needed storage for a couple of weeks as well. But they show up 4 hours late, I scheduled them for pick-up at noon but they didn't arrive until 4pm. From there they jacked up the price of the move by two thousand dollars because of the number of boxes I had packed. The supervising mover called the main office and we compromised at an extra thousand. When I arranged for delivery and I was told I had to pay extra...again. So again, I negotiated a price. The delivery day was a Friday morning and they never showed up. Saturday and Sunday came and they were no shows, I called and left message after message and they never picked up the phone or returned my calls. I called throughout the week and no one answered the phone. Finally, a week later I got a return phone call and we scheduled new a delivery day. The delivery day came and went and they were a no show. I called and someone answered the phone and was told the truck broke down so I scheduled another delivery date. The movers arrive but of course they are 4 hours late and it took them well over the agreed upon 3 hours to move my furniture into my new place. They actually received a ticket for parking illegally and tried to add the ticket amount into my total. The biggie is that they told me I had to pay in all cash when I was told on the phone I could pay with check or credit/debit card. So they had to keep my big screen tv until I got the cash. So again, I call and call to try to schedule a delivery date and was told that I would have to pay the move-in rate per hour plus travel time for 3 people. I said, NO! I would drive out to their warehouse and pick up my tv. We played a one-sided game of phone tag again with me constantly calling and no one picking up the phone. So I called my bank and cancelled the deposit I gave them and guess what, they call me back the next day. I scheduled a time for me to pick up my tv that weekend and I will NEVER use this company again!!!! read more

I contacted fns through referral back in april from a friend of ours who had a similar traumatized experience but received the goods and i just did not have the time to research into more moving companies in the area (in hindsight, i wish i had done this) in the begenning, the "sales" person was very friendly and working diligently to get all the items to be moved accounted for and gave us an estimate which we were very agreeable to and offered a deposit of $200. he said "you dont have to do anything. we will take care of everything for you as out boxes include labor". after that, there was no contact whatsoever regarding the move until about a week from the move date when i had to call multiple times to ensure we were on track with the move. the guy finally called me back and said "you said you were going to box everything yourself and hence didnt add boxes" and took the estimate to almost double claiming "moving supplies". repeatedly, he kept saying "you will be charged only by weight and size of the stuff in the truck. so they will pick your stuff up, weight it and then give you a final estimate for the move". it was the day of the move and we were told 7-9AM window. 7AM nothing happened. 8 AM no one. 9 AM nobody!. left a few voicemails at 9.30 and someone finally got back to us at around 9.40 saying there was a problem with the despatch order (on the day of the move when we had a whole 3 months to figure it out!!). instead of managing the move prior to office hours, i ended up taking the day off!!! so finally some dudes start showing up around 11AM. there were 3 guys if i remember right. one was the crew chief. one guy worked really hard. other two would listen only to the crew chiefs instructions. I wanted all my clothes to be packed in a wardrobe which are the most expensive boxes you can order. i vaguely remember noticing that the first wardrobe box the guy filled was barely half full and he started with the second. i noticed this and decided to stand right next to him packing my clothes and he seemed to "fix" the half filled boxes problem under my supervision. they finally got done around 3PM with all our stuff including the stuff in the attic. once all the stuff was in the truck, the guy asked for a signature. i was like "shouldnt you weigh and tell me the cubic feet in the truck for the correct amount?". then the crew chief was on the phone for a good 20 minutes and came back saying "this is the amount you owe us. we need cash or money order else the stuff comes off the truck". i was like thats not what i was told so let me call the "moving consultant" who just went "if thats what he said, then thats what you owe him and u need to pay it". the amount due was a good $1000 more than the already generously estimated amount by the moving consultant. my wife was already super mad by now about this whole ordeal. and btw this wasnt the worst part of the move yet! we move to the new state and home a week after our stuff was picked up and there is no sign of our stuff. no message. no tracking. nothing! i contacted the "moving consultant" and he goes "i am just the sales guy and do not know where your stuff is. you need to contact dispatch". i was like can i have their information then? the guy goes "there is one guy harry. his email is XXXXXXX but he is super busy and may not get back to you". so i was like lets be a little more patient and we should be OK. i was wrong!! my old father in law (who is visitng us from India) had packed only for 10 days of his supply of medicines (he is diabedic and has high blood pressure). these 10 days have long gone and he just checked his blood pressure and happens to be way above normal 152/109. he cannot get the medicines here without his prescription which is safely stuck in one of the suitcases to be moved as well. it is day 20 since the stuff was removed and day 14 since our "ready to receive" date and there is absolutely no sign of our stuff yet. i cannot believe a company can operate like this in this day and age of logistics and GPS tracking. i am seriously considering filing a FMCSA complaint so no one else goes through what we had to go through. Father and Son - under quoted but Over priced in the end, worst customer service, pay the money and you will never hear back on anything, a medical risk to my family. read more

I read the previous review here and personally don't put much stock in something written by someone who can't even put their name on their profile. I have used Father & Son on two occasions. The first was when having some household items moved from Wells, ME to Sutton. The second was having some of the items from the previously mentioned move and the contents of a home in Webster, all moved to Southbridge. Both moves were handled professionally with no damages by friendly and efficient crews. They called a day ahead to confirm, showed up on time and did the work for the price they quoted. Although I hope not to be moving again anytime soon, Father & Son would be my first phone call. read more

Father and Son moving has gotten a bad rap. We had a house fire the day before thanksgiving and needed movers in a pinch. They understood the situation, sent us some really great guys, and did the job quickly and efficiently without too much fuss, they were almost 20 minutes early, which was great. They also gave us the best quote when we called around- they were $20/hour cheaper for 3 guys than their nearest competitor. They gave us a few tips about saving money (like unloading all the boxes into one room rather than splitting them out). They charge by the half hour rather than a full hour which means we got 4.5 where most companies would have charged us for 5. They understood that I wanted a few big pieces left out on the porch of our new place so I could clean them up before they went into the new place and were happy to put them aside and then to take them up once they were scrubbed up. Overall, we had a great experience. I would recommend them wholeheartedly. read more

Overall the move was quick and painless. The movers arrived 1 hour early, which kind of put me into rush mode to get some last minute stuff done that I thought I had time to do. They completed a 3 room move from pickup to drop off in less than 2.5 hours with a 30 minute transit between destinations. Move away from this moving company!! I arranged to have Father & Son pack and move my 90 year old mother's belongings from an assisted living facility in PA to another assisted living facility in NC. I paid to have her items packed and I wished I had done it myself. In many boxes it looked as if the packers simply swept their arm across a tabletop to dump her belongings into the box. There was so much breakage and missing parts to lamps and chairs that a week later i'm still trying to piece things together. They sorely underestimated the move and charged an additional $1,000 before they were all through. The saddest part was I paid extra for careful handling of a grandfather clock that my uncle had handcrafted and the mover assured me before he left that all was fine with the clock. Upon closer inspection I found the internal parts of the clock dented and put together incorrectly. I would never recommend this company for a move. read more

Unless you like companies that are dishonest, avoid these folks like the plague. I am moving two pianos, and asked for an estimate. They seemed okay on the phone, but I wanted to check Yelp reviews. I was confused because the Yelp page showed the wrong address in Medford, and the Yelp telephone number listed is for a Marlborough company. Anyway, I checked the company's web site and they proudly display a "Better Business Bureau ACCREDITED" shield. Since I was getting mixed signals, I checked with the BBB website. Not happy with this company at all. Was told we would get a phone call verifying our move 24 hours before. After receiving no phone call the night before, we called them. No answer. No returned call. Move was supposed to be at 8 am and they didn't show up until 12:30 with no form of communication until 10:45. we were PANICKED. My boyfriend had used them along with his family for lives from Mass to Florida several times so we trusted the service and company for my move from Florida back to Mass. The week of the move we were told that there would be an additional $600 expense. The day before our move we were told they would all us with a time frame. We never received that call and had to call them. We called all day and finally someone answered us at 4:30pm. Only to tell us that the driver hurt his hand and they were Not sure they could find a sub. I was promised a call before the end of day and never received that call. The rep was rude and disrespectful to me the customer. They still have not refunded my deposit either!! I never got a call from anyone and nobody ever showed up to move me. I ended up renting a truck and moving myself. This was May 20, I still have not received a call or email not have they apologized. I would never recommend them to anyone. I wish I had read these Yelp reviews before reaching out to Father & Son. This was our first time hiring a moving company because we had our infant son to care for. Like many others in Boston, we had a move-out on August 31 and a move-in on Sept 1, so we required overnight storage as well. Our initial "moving consultant" was a pleasant person, and after describing our situation, the estimate seemed reasonable (around $1500), so we signed an agreement. On move-out day, our movers tacked on one extra cost after another. "Your laundry basket needs to be in a box, that'll be $15." "Yes, you paid for us to shrink wrap your couch, but we can't do the cushions and they'll need to be in a box. That'll be another $15." "We don't take plants." "I know you paid for an overnight storage, but we need to charge for the hours to unload your things from the truck..." ...Etc... The two worst things for me was getting berated by their sales manager as I tried to argue the costs, and then having the movers imply the longer I tried to argue this, the more my cost would go up from the hours spent! Our move-out estimate was $878. We ended up getting charged around $1300. To keep our costs as low as possible on the move-in day, I helped the movers myself to get our belongings in as fast as we could. This kept our final cost around the estimate of $700. In the end, we paid around $500 more than we had planned. If you are experienced with moving companies, you may do fine with Father & Son. But if you are new to using movers, beware. They're not out to help you and will exploit your ignorance and vulnerable situation to their maximum benefit. For our next move, we will educate ourselves on the movers and speak to a lot of friends. We definitely will never hire Father & Son again. read more

When they asked how much I wanted to pay, and I told them $100/hour which I based on competitive rates. They replied that, "You can't get professional movers for that. I wish that I could have negative stars because that is how I would rate Father & Son Movers. My daughter was graduating from college and got a job in Madison, WI. We needed to move a few rooms of furniture, and her belongings, as well as a car. I got a quote from their sales guy, Marc, for about $1600 and I give them a $550 down payment. Once I called around, I booked F&S because they were so helpful and understanding. Big mistake. Moving day comes and the truck is a few hours late. No big deal because of this type of move. The mover has no paperwork, however, because they got moved from another job to mine. He takes my contract, which I luckily made a copy of, and never returns it. He tells me that since we estimated high on the number of items, the final bill will likely be less than the estimate. I think all is well. HA! The guys tell me that we had to wrap each piece of furniture in something--bubble wrap or paper. I have moved across country twice before and each time they wrapped the furniture in moving blankets at no extra charge. If we had known this we would have wrapped it and taken care of it. I call Marc and of course, get no answer back until days later. But they wouldn't wait for us to wrap it and forced us to pay $500, in cash, for the privilege--but only after we negotiated that down from $750! At this point, we know they are crooks and my daughter goes on to the truck and retrieves her Christmas ornaments because we no longer trust they will handle her belongings with care and that was something she could not replace due to the sentimental value. We arrange for a delivery date when my daughter will actually be in Wisconsin and they tell us that we will have 24 to 48 hours notice. Or so we think. F&S then handed the job over to a company called Neighbors, who handed it over to a company in Florida called South Moving Transportation. On the night that my son is graduating from high school, we are told that the delivery will be early--the next day, certainly not a 24 to 48 notice. Meanwhile, my daughter is not in Wisconsin, and surprise, surprise, for some reason we owed more than the initial estimate. I call Marc, I call Neighbors, I call South Moving Transportation, but this is nothing but an exercise in frustration. No one can tell me the weight of the move, Marc NEVER answers my calls, and the guy from Neighbors, Vance, is nothing but rude and condescending with me. Eventually we make arrangements for a friend to meet the truck, we pay the extra money, and my daughter's stuff arrives, somehow in good shape. But I will never use this company again. What a debacle this company caused us! We had booked a move with them from CT to a place down south many months in advance in order to avoid any of the awkward last minute things. Expecting everything to go smoothly come moving day we waited for them to come. We continued to wait until it was nearly 2 hours past the time they were to have arrived. We actually had to call the company, get handed off to a bunch of people and wait on hold for 20 minutes for the person to tell us that the truck was not coming! Apparently the truck was loading a job before us, which was only supposed to be for 2 rooms, but the owner of the house at that job had them do the entire house! No calls to dispatch to remind the driver of US, no call to us to even tell us, no consideration of other customers down the line and no decency of sending another truck to take care of us. As I write this we are in a house full of boxes with everything packed and these idiots more or less telling us "S**t happens, deal with it". Never use these people. They have horrible service, zero manners and customer service. Frankly the entire family is sickened by this experience. This company was unprofessional and rude. They more than doubled the moving bill ($1973 was the quote and $4414 was the bill) after they picked up my Mom's stuff for paper thin reasons that didn't make sense and then refused to deliver it until she paid. They held her belongings hostage saying they would sell it all if she didn't pay. Every time we called we got a really rude man who was hard to understand. We contacted the BBB and complained and finally a lady emailed us but when we responded and tried to work out a reasonable solution she never responded. Now that her belongings are finally delivered there are boxes missing, boxes that have been opened with items taken out and boxes that aren't even hers. She has tried to contact them and they have not responded. These guys are crooks. The whole experience was awful. AVOID AVOID AVOID!! read more

Mike the manager has threatened to sue me if I don't remove my negative review of Father & Son, but you can't be sued for telling the truth. I never met him in my life. Somehow he thinks that negates my review of the nightmare the company that he works for created in my life. The company lost? broke and damaged my stuff. He said to put in a claim but never told me how. Please check the lawsuit brought against this company by the state of Massachusetts. The company did NOT prevail. I wonder why??? read more

BAIT AND SWITCH!!! Normally I come to Yelp before I do ANYTHING-- go to a salon, try a restaurant, etc. But dumb foolish me decided NOT to take the time to do so when looking up movers and boy do I regret it! I called up Father & Son and the man who gave me a quote was very polite. Of course he was! He was trying to get my money! His quote was not the lowest, but my mother had used them before, so I decided to go with them because why would my mother recommend a shoddy operation. Because my mother apparently is in the beginning stages of senility! (Sorry mom, but what else can explain it!) She used them in 2008 to move a few of her things from Boston to Georgia. They quoted her about $800. She said when they delivered her items, the nice driver told her his bosses told him to ask her for more money, but he refused. Had she told me this, I would have rather loaded up a U-Haul and drove the stuff down myself! Back to the man on the phone. He quoted me just over $900. I asked him, not once, not twice, but at least 12 times if I added more items, would by rate go up. He said not once, not twice, but at least 12 times, that it would not. Nay, he GUARANTEED me that it would not. I even asked him "What if I wind up with 15 extra boxes?" He again said, the price would not go up unless they got there and I had a grand piano or something ridiculous. So, after getting the email estimate for $902, I agreed to go with them and paid the deposit of about 25%, $225. Two weeks later... I get a call from the driver and he wants to know if he can drop off my items the next morning. I say sure, and ask how much it is. He says "$1720... No, wait, I mean $1950 and 2 cents." After I come back to consciousness, I ask him how the price more than doubled when I only added about 5 boxes. He explains to me how they calculate the weight and what not. I still don't believe that my little bit of stuff costs that much, so I called the office. They tell me to call back in an hour and speak to Nathan, the dispatcher. When I call, I politely ask Nathan to explain how they determined my price would double. He calmly explained how they do the math. I calmly tell him that the driver already explained that to me but that's not what I was asking. He then starts to get irate and rambles on repeating how they calculate the total again. I try to stop him and ask him another question but he keeps going and raises his voice to me. I keep saying "May I talk PLEASE! May I ask a question, PLEASE!" He keeps rambling and saying "I don't see why you don't understand this!" Implying that I am stupid or something." Again, I try to ask him questions but he keeps rambling on without letting me say a word. He is trying to get me to hang up on him, but I refuse to do so. Finally, my elderly mother hears me complaining and picks up the other phone. "Sir PLEASE! Can you stop! I can hear my daughter trying to talk calmly to you but you REFUSE to let her speak!" my mother says. He continues to talk over me and my mother. Finally he pauses to take a breath and my mother has a chance to speak and we finally get some sort of explanation, albeit a very poor one. He explained to me that in fine print on like the last page of the contract was something that stated I would be charged an extra 10 cents a pound for last minute items. Although this was in fact on the contract, it was waaaaaaay down there in the middle of all that legal mumbo jumbo. But I did ask at least twelve times when booking them if there would be additional charges for additional items and they assured me there would not. So the only option I had was to drive almost an hour away to meet the driver at a weigh station. He weighed the truck and when he's done, he'll weigh it after emptying my stuff. Hopefully the truth will emerge after this is done. But if you're planning to move stuff long distance. Do not, I repeat DO NOT use Father & Son! Unless you have money to throw away and actually enjoy being yelled at and having a coronary arguing with people. P.S.-- Some of my boxes were damaged in the move.
