I have to offset the ratings because I was so disappointed with our stay here.
Why? It's not at all an Agriturismo experience, food was just okay but most disappointing was how impersonable it was, like a (bad) hotel.
It's supposed to be a family owned farm which should give you a welcoming warm fuzzy feeling, here is what we experienced instead:
We met Katia at our check in, arriving after a long journey of train, bus and 30min hike on foot with luggage. She seemed very nice at first but when we expressed that we were starving and didn't have lunch yet, she said that their restaurant didn't open until 7:30pm. We said we definitely will have to go into town to grab a meal before dinner here. (note by then she already knew we didn't have a car)
We booked dinner later evening at 8:45pm and asked if there's a best way to get into town.
It was raining on and off and she wasn't helpful really in any way at all. She drove us one flight down with a golf cart to drop our luggage off at our room before we went back on foot into town.
No restaurants were to be found to be open, rain started pouring, so we found shelter in a grocery store where we bought some snacks.
My husband searched for other options on his phone and luckily we finally found another wine bar that also served food which now we know tasted much more home made and fresh than our dinner at the Agriturismo later that evening.
Ironically the manager from the wine bar was so kind giving us a ride back to F. Terranova because now it was not only pouring rain but also lightening. Later at dinner we saw Katia again and she didn't seem one bit concerned if we got rained on etc. It would have been helpful if she a) would have offered us a ride into town b) warned us that most of the 2-3 restaurants would be closed or c) maybe offer us bread, fruit anything at all to tie us over until dinner....The dining area was the best part of our stay as the photos show it really looks fantastic. It was however cold and just one heater was on and no blankets offered either.
Dinner was nothing special, waiter was friendly and nicest of all. Breakfast was good but again not really farm like feeling.
We did stay in an Agriturismo in Umbria 3 years ago and maybe that was so outstanding that it ruined this trip for us. 2 stars is for the impersonable experience and lack of helpfulness. The room we stayed in was nice but non stop bird noise from a nest located near our window, though I get it, it's nature not a city hotel. 2 stars for misrepresentation, it's not Agriturismo feeling at all. Improve customer service please don't leave your guests starving and wondering off in bad weather when you could have advised us.
Also when we checked out, we asked about a ride to the bus stop because they listed courtesy rides into town but nobody of course was available, so we hauled our luggage down the hills again. We never will look back. read more
