Great location right off the highway before the lighthouse. Stopped here in the off season for a quick lunch. You have to order before you sit down where there are hundreds of funny pictures on the wall. I ordered the BBQ sandwich with slaw and it was outstanding. It's not cooked on the spot but thats probably bc it is real slow cooked BBQ pulled pork. The bark had great flavor. My only complaints are that it didnt have a vinegar sauce and the store was quite warm with lots of pesty flies all around. The employee said that the ac would be turned on next week which is probably why the doors were open and the flies were plentiful. 5 stars for breakfast!! Simple menu with limited but excellent options. Got a bagel breakfast sandwich and it was HUGE. Candyland waffle and Mickey pancake were a great treat for the kids. Don't be fooled by the COFFEE sign out front. It's one option of black coffee. No espresso or specialty coffee. Very friendly staff of all ages - I think Santa works here. read more

I've stayed right across the street for the past few years so I'm surprised I haven't tried their breakfast until now. It was awesome! I ordered the biscuits and gravy but they were out of biscuits. The woman at the register recommended I try it over croissants instead. I went with her recommendation and it was delicious. The homefries were delightfully crisp on the outside and soft on the inside, as they should be! I definitely recommend this place for breakfast if you want a laid back beach feel :) read more

OMG, this place is amazing. The food was fresh and tasty. They have a great selection of beers on tap and the prices are very reasonable.

Went for breakfast during the offseason. Was probably one of the best breakfast meals I've ever had. Scrambled eggs were perfect and the french toast apple batter bar was to die for. Staff was more than friendly and accommodating. The price was very reasonable for the amount of food that was served. 11/10 would eat here again. read more

Fatty's is not a place you want to go to to eat. I was there with my husband for lunch and we both ordered the special, a Mahi sandwich for $12.99. Pricey, but thought since it was a special, it would be special. Wrong! The fish was served on an ordinary packaged hamburger bun with a 3 inch square of lettuce a small thin slice of tomato and a small ring of raw onion. Only came with potato chips (regular chips) and a small container of tartar sauce. So no french fries or side to accompany. Fountain drinks were an additional $2 each. With tax , the bill was almost $33 for lunch for two. At Fatty's you order when you enter and take a seat, food is delivered, at end check is delivered. There are many other options in the area where not only better food is served, but attention to a more creative preparation (fish was overcooked, dry and plain) and the addition of sides of your choosing for less money. Meh. Typical Carolina beach food...fried chicken & fries that were greasy (sign oil wasn't hot enough) --though good spice oh the chicken :) A turkey sub on soft, doughy bread. Shrimp that was overcooked but seasoned well, again. Ice cream was darned good, however. read more

We went here one morning for breakfast and was pleased. We had the shrimp and grits, and the French toast. It was very good and the servings were big. The only thing I can say bad about this place was the service was a little slow. But it is worth stopping in and checking it out. We will go back and support the locals and their business. read more

Very good food...great mac n cheese, potato wedges. Chicken and burgers are excellent. Good drink selection. Friendly staff; clean bathrooms. A diamond in the rough in Buxton. But they don't serve lunch until 1130 am, so keep that in mind. read more

Walked in, ordered some sandwiches to take out onto the beach and we waited 30 minutes for 4 sandwiches..... The cashier was very nice and funny though and that made up for part of it. By the time we got to Hatteras 55 Entry to the beach the fries and chips were soggy and their turkey sandwich is a chunks of turkey on a sub roll.... I recommend to not come here for beach sandwiches or something on the go... Wouldn't come back. read more

Yesterday morning we arrived at 11:24am and told the young girl behind the counter it was our first time and that we wanted to order breakfast and NOT lunch. We had 6 people in our party and at 11:28 when we started to order the young lady told us that they had now switched over to the lunch menu and breakfast was not available. She was rude and had an attitude which blew our mind. She needs to go or she's going to kill the business. Had the pleasure of going to Fatty's last month. I cannot remember the man's name but he told us they had fresh Sheepshead fish that day. My mother is one of those people who eat fish as long as it has a mild flavor. He assured us that the fish is mild and we would not regret the choice. Another lady who appeared to be a local also told us we really needed to try the fish. We decided to return after we finished shopping. We were given the choice of grilled, blackened, or fried. The staff recommended fried. I can honestly say it was one of the best fish sandwiches we ever had. The portion of fish was huge. The fish was expertly fried to perfection. Light and crispy without a trace of grease. The fries were amazing and also ranked as some of the best we have tried. The restaurant itself is cozy and fun. There are cartoon pictures and sayings all over the walls which provide entertainment trying to read all of them. The staff person was friendly and personable. Looking forward to our next trip so we can try other menu items or have more awesome fish. read more
