We absolutely LOVE Fav Bistro! We couldn't be happier this place opened in our neighborhood and have had nothing but amazing food from here. We typically take out, as we live close, so my review is mainly about the food, but the staff has always been great. As a curry lover, I nearly always go for one of their many curries, as they are amazing. I especially love the pumpkin, green and massaman versions. The short ribs risotto is epic. I can also speak to the Tom Kar soup (served in a full coconut), shrimp and grits, papaya salad, lettuce wraps, garlic beans, chimmi cauli, spring rolls and pad thai. Always fresh and delivious. We came for lunch and food was very reasonable during this time. Dinner prices are a bit steep but given the quality and presentation, it's well worth it. This place is great for date nights and is family friendly as well. The inside decor reminds me of a French bakery and outside has this little, quaint garden feel to it. We had a chance to meet the owner and she was really nice and gave us a back story on how she moved here and started up a few other Thai restaurants. She seemed really passionate about the food. Okay...We found this place by accident...WHAT A "HAPPY ACCIDENT" ! It was Independence Day and we had gone to Pig In A Jelly Jar but it had a 20 min. wait so we went outside to wait. We saw a couple leaving Fav Bistro and asked them how they liked it. They LOVED it! So we went in and tried it. The Server was extremely helpful with ordering suggestions and very friendly. Fav Bistro is my go to for a good meal with a little spice. I love their curry soups the Kai sow. It is a good sized portion and has the perfect kick to it. You can chose the protein that comes with it, I like their tofu so that's what I go with. For dessert my go to is their taro boba drink. It isn't too sweet which I like. If you love really sweet desserts I would go for something else. At the end they give you a little cookie with your check that is the cherry on top. Their service is always a little slow but really friendly and great, enjoy it. Don't go here in an ultra rush. read more

If our first experience is anything to go by, FAV really will be a fav in our books. I had seen a friend post about having breakfast at FAV on Saturday morning, and made a mental note to try it out as soon as possible. Between us, Nick and I have gone to Chabaar and Tea Rose many a time, and they have never disappointed. We arrived around 8:30pm for dinner Saturday night due to some favorable random happenstance, and sat down in a quiet corner to peruse the menu. At first glance there's a nice variety on the menu of meat, seafood, and veggie options. We decided to go with the popcorn pork, cauliflower chimichurri, and lychee curry with grilled duck. If that last one made you tilt your head sideways while a quizzical yet skeptical expression crept across your face, think again, the sweet and slightly tart nature of the lychee just makes this dish something you have to try. Each plate that came out was better than the first, and everything was delicious and beautifully plated. We were too full for dessert, but Anny came out with a little sampler of a teeny chocolate orange eclair, and a few pieces of sweet roll. The sweet roll is vegan, and all of the pastries are made in house. It was delicious, and I can only imagine how great they taste freshly baked in the morning. But the eclair, that stole the show for me, and reminded me of a pastry version of a Terry's Chocolate Orange All in all, I am so happy and excited that FAV has come to Holladay, and I can't wait to try the rest of the menu! read more

Really enjoyed our experience here. The fusion menu was interesting, and everything we ordered came out great, from appetizers to main course. The portions were large enough that we did not have room for dessert, although the descriptions that we got from the owner was very tempting. Might be worth a trip back just for the desserts! Wait patiently, if you get cranky it will ruin your food and your appetite. You may feel a pang of crankiness start to rise but do your best to fight it. What am I getting at, you say...FAV bistro is d*mn good and d*mn slow but honestly the food is worth it. I've tried both their dinner and brunch menu and they delivered. The mango curry was paired with a white fish and had a light creaminess that will you keep you coming back for more. For brunch I tried their stuffed french toast and it was to die for. The french toast was easily one of the most memorable breakfasts I've had in a awhile. The service is slow, but honestly they just seem understaffed. Another great Thai spot to add to the list! I tried everyone at my tables dishes and was impressed with them all, the spread was: Pad Thai, Kow Pad Kra-Pow, Yellow Curry, and the Pineapple Curry. Wow! Every dish was light, flavorful and fresh! I'm typically not a huge Pad Thai fan, but this was one of the better Pad Thai's I've ever had. I can't wait to frequent Fav Bistro! read more

We found this place driving by because Google Maps doesn't show their is a Thai place at this location. I'm glad we stopped in because this is one of the best experiences I've had in the Utah. The food was a pleasant surprise. They have amazing Lychee cute and the poutine was a surprise and amazing as well. I wish they included beef for their dishes but regardless the food was amazing. After our first terrible experience we thought we'd give Fav Bistro another try. Unfortunately, things haven't improved. After being seated promptly our order was taken. 20 minutes later our waitress came by and said "remind me what your order was..." 10 minutes after that another man came to our table and told us that our order had "somehow been lost" and we'd have to tell him again what we wanted. We did so, hoping that the kitchen would rush things since we'd already been waiting 30 minutes. No such luck. 25 minutes later our order finally arrived. The food, as usual, was very good. After finishing our meal we received our check, but no apology, no discount, no consideration for the hour-long wait. Normally in this type of situation a free dessert or comped appetizers might be given, but nothing at all was offered. We paid, and the server brought our table of 7 people 3 bagged cookies "to thank us for our patience." We've learned our lesson, and in this case it's two strikes and you're out. read more

The WORST dining experience EVER! Our group of friends have been coming here on occasion for about 2 years. We have enjoyed eating here in times past. However, a recent visit has left me with no desire to ever return! We were there for over 45 minutes, waiting on menus or for any of the wait staff to even notice we were there! Other customers came in and were given menus and waited on. It was like we were invisible! After wondering what was going on, one of our group went to the counter to get menus, where we sat for another amount of time waiting for the wait staff to take an order, or notice we were there to eat. Finally, one of the waitresses came over to take our orders. I pointed out, and told her what I wanted. When our food arrived, my order was NOT what I had ordered! Instead of apologizing, one of the owners came out to our table, poked me hard in the arm, and told me off!! I was so embarrassed! Everyone else in our group was served, while I had to wait even longer for my order! When my food was served, another one of the owners nearly threw the plate down in front of me. After our group finished.. Again, we were totally ignored! No ticket arrived, so we could pay.. Nothing! So all of us went to the counter to pay for our food. No apologies! No sorry's! Had the Larb which had good flavor, unfortunately, they plate the lettuce in a ton of broth and sauce and so it doesn't stay crispy. Instead it was soggy. The sticky rice that came with it was a ball of mush. Completely over cooked. We Also had the pad Thai and the noodles were also over cooked and mushy. I'm not sure if I just came on a bad night, but was very disappointed after seeing 4.5 stars. read more

Just had a most amazing dinner. So glad there were four of us, so we could order four Favs, and SHARE! Anny has outdone herself at her new restaurant, "Fav Bistro." We first "discovered" her at "The Tea Rose Diner," about 10 years ago, then we moved to "Chabaar" when she opened it in Midvale. Each time her take on Thai cuisine was so very refreshing. Now with "Fav Bistro," a real conundrum... which Fav to order??? All four were so delicious. The other downside... no room for dessert from the beautiful dessert case, made in their in house bakery. I ate there for lunch for the first time. The atmosphere is nice and the staff was friendly. I ordered the Red Curry Noodle Soup. It was a sizeable portion and very tasty. A small observation: the dish came with a small spoon that made eating the broth a chore. A tablespoon would have been more appropriate. Also there was a large, presumably decorative, leaf green in the soup that got in the way of finishing the bowl. It was probably edible, but not without a knife. Talk about fresh, real and tastey food! I was so impressed with this place. Everything we got tasted good, it was hot and high quality and also plated quite nicely. I recommend this place to anyone looking for good Thai food. The papaya salad was way good as well. Just all around good! Their food is served in large portions, but enough to fees you two or even 3 meals depending on what entree you get. For this reason the food is slightly more expensive. It is $20 a per person not including tax or tip. But an entree is easily split. We got the wings as an appetizer. Very enjoyable to eat. They had that tempura breading on the outside which made for a different and satisfying crunch. $9 is a little much for 6 wings, but they were good nonetheless. Great coconut curry. Great cooking. The chicken and shortrib had great flavors going on. They give you a MASSIVE portion of chicken. I think they may have given me a whole chicken instead of half a bird. Regardless it was good. I received multiple calls 45 minutes to an hour later saying no one from door dash was coming, so they asked where I lived so they could come deliver it personally, after the food had been sitting out for 30 minutes. Fav Bistro is a hidden gem and the best breakfast in Salt Lake City! Don't let the fact that it is a Thai restaurant keep you away---they make the most amazing breakfasts, both Thai and American styles. On Father's Day we tried to get into other breakfast restaurants and the wait was up to an hour and a half. There was no wait at Fav Bistro and we were so glad we went there---great coffee, great omelets, and every meal comes with lots of perfectly cooked vegetables---the plates are beautiful.
